2023-09-12 06:26:39The rolls were delicious! The tuna lover and Kinney roll (the latter was said to be their most popular) were both solid choices. Staff was enthusiastic and friendly. They kept the water pitcher filled.I find the decor to be a little random. The sushi bar doesnt have full visibility to whats being made. So its definitely not a true sushi bar restaurant/vibe. More like meet for a date and sit at the bar vibe.

2023-08-14 05:03:30Owa is an absolute gem, exuding a fantastic vibe that instantly uplifts your spirits. The stylish decor creates an ambiance thats both trendy and inviting. The drinks served here are nothing short of exceptional, boasting a delightful array of flavors that cater to various tastes. However, what truly sets this place apart is its impeccable service from our server Manny. The staffs attentiveness and warmth make each visit an unforgettable experience. A must-visit for anyone in search of a complete package.

They guided us through the menu with genuine enthusiasm, making recommendations that elevated our dining experience. Their passion for what they do shines through, adding a personal touch that made us feel like cherished guests. Owa is not just a restaurant; its an embodiment of hospitality, thanks to Noel and Cyrus.

2023-10-25 01:51:11I recently dined here for dinner. I was excited about the opening of Owa as Venice is lacking in good sushi.Service was decent and friendly enough, and the cocktails were pretty good. But the food was truly subpar especially for the exorbitant prices they are charging (even for Abbot Kinney). The tempura appetizers were dry and overcooked. But it was the sushi rolls were really poor - the Kinney rolled is soaked in ponzu sauce so that by the time they serve it, the rolls are completely drenched and the rice soggy. Not edible. And the rice on the Owa scallop roll was compeltely mushy. When youre charging $30+ for a sushi roll, youd think using properly cooked rice would be the bare minimum. They also charge a 20% service fee which we were not told of up front by the staff, nor is it written anywhere on the website or menu.I was hoping to like this place but I wont be returning.

2023-09-30 02:11:44Was super excited to hear about a sushi restaurant opening on Abbot Kinney. The food and drink menu seemed exciting enough. Ambiance is nice, service was ok.We ordered mostly nigiri and agreed the quality was fair and unfortunately not memorable. The bill arrived and was double what we expected. We peeped the menu to clarify and noticed the list price for nigiri is for 1 piece, but order minimum is 2 pieces. We assumed the list price was for 2 pieces given the minimum but were astonished when the bill came. Feels like their goal is to take advantage of customers so for that reason we won’t be back. Oh! Also warning they charge 20% gratuity and don’t communicate that up front.Save your money and go to Kura. :)

2023-12-02 19:19:01Ridiculously pretentious average overpriced sushiWaiters casting even more ridiculousDusty Dreadlocks don’t get along with sushi in my universe. In other words, I am there for your food in Primis not interested in admiring your tall bored, supermodels servers… I thought we were all past that?!?

2023-08-18 14:34:48Food was good enough. Not great value but decent quality. Stay at the bar, avoid the sit down experience- tables crammed too close together, inexperienced servers, and a general lack of awareness combined with OK food (no home runs) make this $150/person meal forgettable. What I won’t forget, though, is how tasteless the Wagyu Ribeye with gold flakes and beet paste was. Our server, failing to greet us or take our order for the first 20 minutes, had zero situational awareness: “how you doing on drinks?” (Two sips in) - “whose gonna finish the last bites??” (Mouths are full of sushi from the bite I just had 10 seconds ago). My favorite part, however, was watching our server dance by herself at the end of the bar for a good 30 seconds while we waited for our check. With a few notable exceptions, good sushi is hard to find on the westside - consider this notion reaffirmed. Stick to the bar, the drinks are solid and the bartenders are professional.
