Great quality salmon, so good that it felt like butter melting in my mouth. The samurai burrito was delicious. My only “but” would be the seaweed of the rolls was hard. Service and attention was really good.

Incredibly fresh fish with generous portions.The classic roles are perfect but even better than those are there unique roles. They balance the flavors really well while also have a nice texture, which is hard to do with sushi!Highly recommend for date night.Also, service was very incredibly good and really fast!!

We’ve been here for Christmas Eve party for our first time. Second time is my wife’s birthday. Very fast, friendly, and professional service. Super fresh and tasty 🍱 food. The restaurant is kind of small so I recommend taking a reservation before coming. Thank you for the surprise birthday-ice cream as well.

Had lunch. Service was good. Very attentive staff which had great recommendations on what to try. Had the carpaccio with salmon and yellowtail - salmon was delicious. Had the Samurai handroll and the sexy roll. Enjoyed the Samurai roll. The sexy roll was interesting- alot of crab on that one. Also the yellowtail roll was interesting. King salmon sushi - friend liked it. Enjoyed the crab nugget and would recommend - crab in a shitake mushroom which tempura fried and has some shitito peppers. Had the red bean ice cream and matcha with the tempura fried banana. Red bean was sweet but not too sweet. I really liked the fried banana.Parking is very limited in this area so carpooling is best.

Food was good quality and authentic. Apparently they hand prepare their miso soup. Interestingly, their miso had a bit of noodles in them. Thats a first for me. Didnt notice any seaweed or tofu, but maybe its a different style.Kanpachi Roll: Simple, fresh, good qualitySamurai Burrito Roll: Their most popular item was pretty filling. Wrapped in lots of rice, and good presentation. Nothing particularly noteworthy. An Americanized roll.Teriyaki chicken: a small bowl of rice and a plate of brown meat chicken with teriyaki sauce and cabbage. Again nothing particularly noteworthy, didnt stand out and actually underwhelming compared to other teriyaki chicken Ive had. It doesnt come with a crispy skin thats fried and adds texture. Thats my personal preference when it comes to teriyaki chicken.Beer: Big bottle of Kirin malt beer. Cant go wrong with Japanese beer.Environment: Intimate and authentic. You will hear Japanese being spoken by the staff and they have an izakaya style set up where you can sit at a bar and watch the food be made in front of your eyes.Overall 8/10 would recommend.Next time Ill try the bento box.

We stumbled upon this place when going to the store. The staff is very friendly and patient.I ordered the tuna bowl and it was really tasty. The only odd thing was that they add noodles to the miso soup they give with the order.I would come back here for some good sushi!

Excellent food. Excellent tea. Excellent, friendly service. Loved the tempura udon - the broth was flavorful, the tempura shrimp and vegetables were light and crispy, and the udon was perfectly, satisfyingly chewy. I enjoyed it thoroughly. Probably the best bowl of udon Ive ever had.

I give 4 stars based on my lunch- sushi experience. I ordered spicy tuna/crunch roll combo and was a bit disappointed. It was very small pieces and not so much of a meat in tuna roll at all, the crunch was soaking of oil, not so crunchy at all. The sauce, they included, did not go with it. I still ate everything though lol The miso soup was good. Service was really good, but the lunch combo was just ok. Thus 4 stars from me. Thank you.

This place was awesome! We didnt know where to go for sushi and went here on a whim and loved it! The ambiance was amazing and very pretty and very Japanese. The servers and hostess and the sushi chefs were all very warm and friendly and attentive. We ordered a couple nigiri and a few specialty rolls and everything was delicious! Also highly recommend the banana tempura with red bean ice cream! 10/10 definitely coming back when were in the neighborhood!

We were in the area only for a day to run some errands, we live in San Diego and this is by far the best sushi weve ever had! We have ate sushi in fancy places, even in a different country and this is by far one of the greatest. Authentic and fresh, also everyone there is so friendly and polite. Voila- we had such a great experience with Wafu of Japan Sushi. Was pleased Amy answered as she gave nice suggestions such as sushi burrito and fresh octopus salad w nice nice cucumbers. Yellowtail booster is still fabulous w their mild creamy sauce. Tried it for the first time over the weekend 06/01/18 with my family and couple of friends. Everything was awesome, super fresh fish, excellent quality. My kids love Japanese food and we all had a great time!!! Just had to repeat Monday for lunch with my wife and it was perfect. It will definitely be on my favorite sushi list. The Japanese owner and manager is a perfectionist and has his eye on all operations of this restaurant. If you know what quality Japanese food is supposed to taste like, you will find it here. You will find that many of the patrons come regularly and have been for years. The consistency of the quality of food and service, has never wavered. Price is fair, but only an afterthought when you leave this place. If you ask me, the owner can comfortably raise his prices and it wouldnt put a dent in the amount of loyal customers would continue to come. Sashimi is so fresh!

Great food, good menu, excellent service, and the comfiest atmosphere. You can tell they have loyal regulars for a reason. Its a perfect spot for a date night or dinner with a few friends - not too formal but classy and cozy. This quickly made it into my rotation of regular stops near my home. Get a bottle of the the spicy plum wine with your sushi and dont miss the red bean mocha ice cream.

Unexpected great sushi next to a freeway and my hotel.Saw this restaurant from across the street from my hotel and since I currently have a 1 year old at home, decided to indulge my sushi craving. I wasnt expecting much.Ordered the 3 roll plate (I forget the name) and I am really glad I did. All 3 rolls were darn tasty, and generous. Service was prompt, and the restaurant had good atmosphere.

My husband and I have ordered take out a few times and it has been decent - teriyaki and sesame chicken combos. But we havent tried any real sushi to do this review justice. We will definitely try to eat in soon. It looks very cozy and inviting.Update: dined in and tried a lot of fresh fish options. Everything was fresh and very tasty. Loved the tuna guacamole appetizer! My wife and I have been coming here for years. Have always had great fresh sushi and excellent service. The melty roll is our favorite. The place sits in a small strip mall and doesnt look like much from the outside. We never would have tried without the recommendation of a neighbor several years ago. Fantastic sushi awaits inside. Ive been going here for 20 years –- my favorites are sashimi roll, butterfly roll, and samurai burrito –- and the one gripe Ive ever had is that if you dont get there by 11:45, the parking lot is likely to be full. Note, the regular wasabi was very mild, but they sell real wasabi that theyll grate fresh for you for $2.Reasonably priced, my friend ordered the Chefs specials. They were very tasty. I liked the one that was a tuna roll with a peanut sauce. They also have rice paper rolls and cucumber rolls if you dont like seaweed.I will definitely going back, they have a 5 types of salmon sashimi that Id love to try. Honestly, my family went to this other place across the street and the wait was way too long so we came to wafu. I felt really sketchy coming in and I really didnt trust it since it was like next to a gas station and like some other closed shops. I really didnt want to eat there. Adding to that, there was no one there! But after some people came in and the food was actually good. Nice job changing my mind!!!

A local gem hidden in a shopping center behind an Arco gas station is one of the greatest sushi spots in all of Costa Mesa. This family run joint has the traditional nigiri sushi, but for my money get the Aloha roll: spicy tuna topped with albacore scallions, mint and house made garlic ponzu sauce. Great at $13.99.

I always make sure I dine at Wafu Sushi when I am in Irvine for work training, the sushi bar is perfect for a solo diner, right in front of all the action! Always great fresh menu items, whether it is the super good super california rolls, samurai burrito or any of the nigiri, only place youll find better sushi is a couple time zones away at Tsukiji.

The ingredients are fresh and very delicious.I thought it was just a lot of creative sushi that you cant eat in Japan, but they also have authentic nigiri sushi.The customer service was also very polite and the atmosphere was relaxing.Thank you for the meal.

This is my favorite delicious sushi restaurant to go to privately. As for the miso soup, it tasted better than any other restaurant Ive had in Japan. The staff are very kind.
