Went here on a whim one Sunday night and was impressed on every level. All tacos and sauces were delicious. The crispy fish was so good we got back in line to order more. Service was quick and super friendly. We will be back!!

Update: 10/23 Question. Does anybody else absolutely hate the way the Wahoos in Costa Mesa looks now after their remodel? I say remodel because it actually looks like its still under construction. Way to modern and simple looking. It definitely doesnt feel like Wahoos anymore..The chicken tortilla soup is absolutely bomb here. Make sure to add rice and avocado to it. You can never go wrong with their grilled or fried fish tacos, and surprisingly, they have really good onion rings too.

This place is a hidden gem! If you are looking for a fast option of Mexican food this is the place. I love the protein bowl (Paleo bowl). It’s healthy, flavorful and low in calories. You can get any of the sauces or salsas on the side. I recommend the cilantro and spicy sauce. So good!

A family favorite on both my husbands side and mine. Its become a weekly tradition to eat here together. The service is great, they really get to know you if you take the time to talk to them. Friendly and professional, its always a good experience here. The food is also great from the enchiladas, tacos, bowls, and burritos! Good portions too so you know you wont be left hungry. Good if youre looking for a healthier option or even vegetarian and vegan options.

One of my favorite lunch places. If youve ever eaten here, you probably arent reading reviews because you already know how good it is. However, if you havent, give it a try. People rave about their fish tacos & bowls, but personally I always order the chicken because its so good. They have a lot more choices these days... grilled or spicy chicken, black beans, white beans, white rice, brown rice, etc. The food is always delicious & super fresh.

Very rude. I asked her if the lemons were in the bag. She said did you ask Mom and I said yes she said been there in there. So I looked in the bag and they were not in there so I told her and she said are these the ones you asked for really rude and I told her nicely maam I said lemons and then she got super mad and said we dont have lemons we have lines I said okay can I please get some lines and then she went and got the lines and threw them into my hand hard with an attitude. It was the lady with short hair with a heavy accent. Ill never be eating here again. Ill be calling corporate Monday morning because this is very unprofessional and ridiculous. This place is supposed to be a fun place to go to and theyre treating you people like this is unnecessary. She was very disrespectful and rude. Ruined my weekend and made me feel really bad.

The fish tacos are delicious. The Cajun beans are perfect, although there was a disagreement as to whether they were actually better than the black beans. Plenty of food, burritos were gigantic. Outdoor seating is a must. Enjoy. Exceptional food selection, cheap wine prices and no constant questions about a dessert.

The good part about Wahoos is that the service is expedient and the value is pretty good. But with all of the more authentic taco shops in the area, it just doesnt stand out in such a degree to where I feel compelled to eat there on the regular. Still, if you need to get a decent fish taco (or any taco for that matter), there are worse options that Wahoos for sure.

I have been eating here since they opened. I personally dont like fish. But I love their fish tacos. I have no idea what they do to get out the fishy flavor of fish but they have never let me down. Possibly because its all wild caught never farmed. I saw that on a sign durring this trip.Either way the food is health and tastes great every time. My favorite tacos from any resteraunt in the world....and theyre fish. Strange but true. PS it looks like a rundown shack but dont let that discourage you. Its amazing!

A bit disappointed...Ive eaten at Wahoos before and forgot how filling their plates were so when it arrived I got super excited. But upon eating my chicken enchiladas, the chicken had a rubber texture. Almost as if they cooked the chicken from a semi-frozen state. Such a bummer considering everything else was tasty.

The margaritas here are so good and excellently priced. Food wasnt bad. I wasnt a huge fan of the cajun chicken as it seemed a little chewy and I wasnt expecting darker meat. Overall, a good experience though.

I ordered the Kai Kale salad from them via GrubHub, and I specifically asked for NO tortilla strips/chips on it. When I received the salad it was COVERED with tortilla strips. I had to pick them all out before I could eat the salad. And I paid over $20 for this. I will not order from them via GrubHub again. Just make sure you dont have any specific requests if you want to order through GrubHub.

This is the original Wahoos as begun by Wing Lam in Costa Mesa. Just an old converted house plastered with innumerable surf//skate/ride stickers. It has all the great signature dishes by Wahoos. One of the best fish tacos, but I like the Maui Bowl of fish+rice+beans just as much.

Im no stranger to Wahoos and decided to take my little shooters to this Wahoos earlier today. Rich and Justin were genuinely friendly and helpful. The Wahoo enchiladas and tacos were delicious. This was the first time I tried the chips and salsa. The salsa was plain but good. I always thought Wahoos carried Gringo Bandito hot sauce but when I asked for it, the lady looked at me funny before handing me a bottle of Tapatio. You guys gotta fix that. Otherwise, great dinner ! (to ease the pain, I took home an Outer Reef burrito afterwards)

Although it has fish taco in the name I have always been drawn to the carnitas tacos and tortilla soup and an ocassional fish taco that isnt fried. I get the kids meal as its slighty smaller than the regular combos and more appropriate portion sze. I also opt out of the rice and get both black and spicy beans instead for a pretty protein packed healthy fast food meal.
