2017-11-08 23:25:21If creative martinis are your thing you have to check out this place in Palm Springs. The service was attentive. The appetizers were yummy. The atmosphere was nice on the outdoor open air bar area. But the top of the visit was the Smoking Dragon Martinis! We visited on the right day too, because on Mondays they are half off.... only $7! There are several fruity flavors to choose from. The coconut shrimp were really delicious too. Menu looked really good as well for dinner, but we were not hungry enough to order more food. Check it out!

2022-05-20 19:58:20Delicious. Great, straight on Chinese food. The hot and sour soup, which is what the picture is of, was so, so good and served in that cool dish. The walnut shrimp was perfect. We felt the portions were kind of small (except for the soup) which is the only reason for the 4 stars. Would absolutely go again.

2022-01-16 18:23:36Wangs is opened again. Overpriced mediocre Asian food. We ordered wonton soup, Mongolian beef, and calamari with jalapeño. Wonton soup terrible: a big bowl with 4 wonton (for 2 persons) floating in stock. Bad presentation. It should had some greens (and noodles if going traditional). The wonton itself was the worst. Compact mass of minced chicken with no flavor and missing other important ingredients (i.e. black mushrooms, bamboo shoot, sesame oil, etc). Mongolian beef was okay. Actually the meat was tender but I would never season the meat with hoising sauce. Calamari was soggy and missing the flavor of calamari. In addition, they charged 3 dollars for hot water (to be fair, the waiter told us). We paid over 80 bucks for a small dinner. Not worth it! Unfortunately, I cant patronize or recommend this restaurant.

2018-04-30 21:49:41Add Wangs to the list of gay bars and/or restaurants with a phallic reference in its name lol. I had a good time here. Kelly our bartender has been working locally for decades (shes good). Live jazz band Thursday night.

2022-08-08 14:33:22I remember Wangs from many years ago. One of the most popular places to drink and dine in the desert. I havent been there in some time. 7 of us got together to give it another try, as there have been some ownership changes. We made a reservation, though when we got there at 7 pm on a Friday night, there were only 2 other tables with patrons. We should have heeded that clue. The host was a burly fellow in shorts and a tank top. He said they had no tables in the dining room that would accommodate 7 people, so they put us up on stage in a makeshift booth. Our server was obviously quite new at her job as she did not know anything about the drink menu andcouldnt tell us what was in their signature martini. I ordered a glass of Rutherford Merlot. When it arrived, it was far above room temperature, and almost undrinkable. I ended up having to put ice cubes in it, to enjoy it. That is something I almost never do, as it changes the wine completely. We ordered some appetizers and our entrees. It should be noted that this is a $$$ priced Asian food. Entrees were $20-36, and appetizers $20-40. The portions were small and completely lacking in presentation. The entrees arrived at the same time as the appetizers. The Wangs I remembered from years ago, excelled at presentation, using orchids and clever arrangements to enhance the look of the dishes. The food was okay. Nothing special. I wont bother describing the dishes, as they were all very mediocre. A cut above the Panda, but just barely. The server, while somewhat clueless about the menu, was at least attentive, and did her best. The bar was empty, as was mostly the restaurant, on a Friday night. It was obvious many patrons no longer dinner here. I will be joining those patrons and looking elsewhere for an enjoyable Asian dining experience. The love of Good food, friendly staff, and fine service, had long left the building. Sadly we all decided not to return.

2023-04-21 16:21:41Food was good, but like the quality expected of a hole in the wall Chinese lunch spot, not high end asian cuisine. So while it was tasty, it was way more overpriced. The server was also fairly awkward and the energy was a little off putting.
