The food is tasty. There is a large variety with a good amount of selections not found in the regular China-origin restaurants around the area. Hong Kong-style cuisine, including breakfast items such as 肠粉，many kinds of porridge 粥，with steak, and a rather special fried salty German pork knuckle dish. Prices are a little high for being in El Monte.

Been here a couple of times and the servers are always so kind and attentive. the food is authentic and tastes GOOD. this beef and seafood congee might be the best ive tried in america. some of the seafood was a bit too hard to chew but i didnt care much bc the congee itself tasted so good! ive been here a few times already to know they know how to cook good food

Hong Kong café (茶餐廳) style food is its own form of cuisine style. I say that because while its origin is a fusion of Chinese and European cuisine, it has so many ideas and material that are original to Hong Kong and Macau, I dare to say that it is an invention of its own. While none of these restaurants will ever win a high brow critics award such as a Tire company star, a well prepared meal can be very satisfying. WeChat Café is an authentic and a good 茶餐廳. If you know what 茶餐廳 is, you know it. Every dishes we ordered were hot and delicious. Its a gem in a lesser known area outside of the lime light of the richly populated SGV area.

Best value is from 8-11 in the morning when breakfast menu has many lunch items as well and free hot drink or extra 50 cents for cold ones. Otherwise drinks are 2.50-4 bucks so lunch will set you back some on drinks.If you spend 40, there is hainan chicken for 2, pork knuckle for 5, and pork shop for 3. So a bigger group will be better value.Pork chop breakfast had two chops, eggs, salad, fries, and a milk tea or coffee or lemon tea. Good value but chops had an hint of past it smell. Maybe old batch!Turnip and beef brisket rice noodles had plenty of beef.Plain rice roll noodles were fine.Donuts were crispy and not stale.Coffee and tea were good.Taste is authentic hk cafe fare.Only five regular parking spots.No wechat logos anywhere!Good service!

Crazy Asian woman here who speaks Spanish, did not write down our order, gave us pork instead of chicken, one person in our party was allergic to pork, she started feeling really bad, we found out afterward they fed her pork. We had to leave to the emergency room. They were not apologetic and try to blame us ordering pork bringing out the menus after we pointed again at the chicken items they were just quiet and confused

The one dollar drinks with entree were mediocre but not as bad as some reviewers claimed. We tried 2 dishes and both were good. The beef stew in wine sauce was excellent but the portion was small. The Indonesian fried rice tasted good but they were cheap on meats and shrimps. Service was not the best. No one offered refills on drinks and didnt volunteer to pack my leftovers.

The Lady is so “busy” walking around doing “everything” and she can’t come to my table to get my pay, and she can’t even click on the little pad for the door dash order! The surrounding of the are is kind of far from any central busy location. Its right next to an auto repair shop, makes the feel kind of awkward. Inside feel like a cafe shop. Nothing special. The food we order, a sweet and sour rib is pretty good, better than a lot of place, however the fish fillet on the other hand was not so great. The sauce flavor is not that attracting.

My friends and I went there when they were grand opening years ago. Food was bad. Not fully cooked. However, I gave them a second try today. Very disappointed again. One of my order food was not fully cooked as well. The taste was bad. You can cook better than them. Not recommend.

What can I say, this Cafe truly has the worst customer service but I cant blame them since theyre a Chinese spot. I came here for their afternoon tea (happy hour) and I ordered their baked pork chop with rice. The dish itself was decent but the sauce was too watery and not enough tomato paste. With each meal you order, you receive a drink, which I got the iced lemon tea. You also get one free refill and when I asked for it, it took the workers 15 minutes to give it back to me; I had to remind them!As Im sitting here, theres one worker in the back booth making dumplings, one at the cashier counting money and the other server is busy talking to the guy making dumplings. They are not attentive and would rather talk amongst themselves than their patrons. Disappointed in their service because even Panda Express has better service than this place.

I wasnt a big fan of this place - we ordered takeout. Among other things, we ordered the Indonesian fried rice, pork katsu curry, eggplant, and fish curry. At $40, they allow you to get German-style pork knuckle for an additional $5 or Hainan chicken rice for (I think) $3, and some other dish for $1.The actual dishes that we bought ranged in price from about $8 to $13. The dishes werent bad, but they werent very good either. Just overall kind of mediocre. The fish curry was probably the best of the bunch, but even that was a bit too thick.I would classify this place as a slightly more expensive hong Kong style cafe. The area it is located in is geared more towards industry than restaurants so it is not a very likely location.

Wechat Cafe is a interesting name, it named after a popular Chinese Message Mobile Application. This restaurant is basically a HK Style Cafe Restaurant. Which serve Cantonese and Western Cuisine.Food is a hit and miss here, some are good but other are isnt something I would reorder. The best dish I had is the beef stew with wine sauce. The sauce are excellent and the stew is well marinated. The dish I dislike the most is their special chicken dish which is only $1 when you order over $30. The chicken is awful. They also had $1 drink (Lemonade or Milk Tea) when you order an entree. The lemonade that I order is heavy powder not fresh.They had happy hour 10% off after 6pm daily.

We were staying in a hotel nearby because a water pipe had broken in our apartment. One night we walked over to the Wechat and found it to be very family friendly and good for a quick meal. There are many oven baked dishes with different ingredients baked over the top of rice or noodles. There were several families in when we were there. My favorites are hot pineapple bun with a piece of heart warming butter, silky milk tea, fried noodle with beef, congee with minced beef, and baked pork chop with rice. If these are not your choices, they do offer other Hong Kong favorite dishes on the menu such as Indonesia fried rice, fried pig’s knuckles, wonton noodle, etc. the staff here are very friendly and always go out of their ways to accommodate customer’s requests.
