This place delivers!! Excellent food! Highly recommend! High quality. The garlic cheese 🥖 was killer! (See photo) The seafood platter was incredible! Succulent and fresh. Well worth it. So good I forgot to take a photo. Did not make that mistake twice.Then dessert…😋🤤

I recently enjoyed brunch at Wences, and outside of the slow service, I quite enjoyed the experience. Not that I was in any rush, mind you, but it would be nice to have some idea of who my waiter is after 15 minutes of sitting around pondering the menu.Eventually, a nice and clearly over scheduled guy came around and took our order, which consisted of: Chorizo & Egg Hash ($15), Dungeness Crab, Avocado Benedict (I forgot the price, but its not cheap), Brussels Sprouts & Avocado ($16), Buttermilk Pancakes ($10) since I love pancakes so much. We also ordered a couple of Bloody Marys ($12), which were prepared to bloody perfection. Actually, the whole meal was quite good and arrived at our table in a timely manner, hot and ready to eat.Its quite a crowd on weekends, so be sure to make a reservation. Also, know that your server will swing by eventually.

Our waitress was great. Thank you for great service. She went out of her way to let me know that the salmon dish had white wine sauce so they substitute it with butter I really appreciated that since I cant have any alcohol.

Came here at 4pm on a Saturday and was able to be seated next outside right away. Staff are very nice and efficient. Buckley bay Oysters were SUPER good!! Priced moderately. Seafood fettuccine was pretty good too but could’ve used a bit more flavor in terms of sauce. generous seafood portions however. Lobster chowder was super good!!! Would definitely come back.

Good environment, good food, nice servers and reasonable price!Crab cake is a must try, clam chowder is thick and creamy, fish & chip is crispy and juicy.However, shrimp cocktail was as good as expected as then shrimp wasn’t fresh. Raw oyster was barely ok as the price is not high.Desert was good too as the size is not huge. The melted cookie and cheese cake were both good as we tried.

Good experience overall. Open kitchen and the place looked clean. Friendly and attentive staff, and room for the stroller for my son.I had the Jambalaya, which I thought was a bit heavy on the pepper, but my wife thought was just fine. No fault on the restaurant there, just my personal taste.The star of the show though was the appetizers and dessert. Cheesy crab bread I could go back for and have as a meal! Crab cakes were great, and the mussels as well, with bread for dipping in the broth. Calamari with lemon and sauce, fried up just right. Bread pudding for dessert .But get the cheezy crabby bread, I can’t stress this enough.

Wences is likely the premier seafood restaurant in the pleasant hill/walnut creek/concord area.Food is on the top end but thats to be expected for the venue.The true value of the place is their oysters on Sunday and Monday.Their mimosa days are also a great value.What I really appreciate is that their food is clearly made/fresh its not restaurant supply truck food. Worth checking out.

A friend had recommended this place a few months ago and we finally tried it. Its everything our friend said and more. Delicious food, great service, good vibes, indoor and outdoor seating. You dont need a reservation but it gets busy so if you have a big group youre better off making one ahead of time. We dined outdoors so werent able to see the inside that much but I did notice they have a bar with big TVs in the entrance. Will be coming back to check it out. Parking in the shopping center is limited but you can also park on the street. Totally recommend! We had a cup of tomato basil soup, the rib eye and chicken piccata 👌🏼so good!!

On 9/20/2023, it was difficult to find, even driving right next to it through the parking lot with several passengers helping to look for a sign. This could be due to external remodeling. Also, the parking lot is very skinny and small for this strip mall.However, the food was great, particularly the meatballs and potatoes. The beer selection in the bar was a bit slim.My visit was for a work event in a party room for 20+ people, where they set up various food stations. Our server was always available and attendant to everyones needs.My only complaint was that it didnt take much conversation for the party room to become unbearably loud, with nothing to absorb excess sound.

Went here by mistake was hitting somewhere else saw how busy they were talked to a couple of patrons and found heaven. The wild salmon and Chilean sea bass were unbelievable melted in your mouth what can you say about scallops and prawns theyre always delicious especially in a little bit of that lemon butter sauce the grilled vegetables and grilled polenta you could have called them dessert the lobster chowder unforgettable followed by that cookie with the French vanilla ice cream with a chocolate caramel drizzle and strawberries yeah we died and we enjoyed it. Our waiter Zach was incredible he had it going on.

I got the oysters, truffle mac and cheese, crème brulee, cookie melt and the beignets. the beignets werent the best but still very good. the restaurant was covid friendly with qr codes for the menus. One heads up is to order your desserts a little early because some take more time since they are baked upon ordering. The ambiance is also more on the loud and fun side than intimate for inside dining since it can be quite echoey.

I ordered the filet mignon egg benedict. The poached egg was over cooked. The wait staff cordially said she will bring me another set. While waiting for my replacement, I have tasted the filet mignon and it was cooked perfectly and the side dishes was delicious. Once I got my poached eggs everything was great. The place is clean and has good customer service. The restaurant is also packed and popular with the locals.

I cant even give service or the food a star. Im a bartender. I know good service and food. This was the worst service Ive ever had. I had greasy dry salmon. Even the vegetables were dripping oil. My husband had lobster tacos. We paid MP for lobster claw fat. There was more cheese than claw fat. Huge waste of money and our time. I had to go get our drink refills and our check. This place only has business because its convenient.

Ordered an Old Fashioned and Bruschetta, while waiting for Bruschetta I ended up ordering the Market Priced Ribeye, everything was delicious, but was very disappointed I was served the ribeye first and then had to ask if my appetizer I had ordered was still on its way, would be a 5 star review had that not happen but will definitely go back again!

Wonderful food, a great place for people to gather and celebrate. Many parties around us, all talking over each other, which made it amazing place to people watch. Food was out of this world, try the oysters and lobster chowder! You won’t be disappointed.

Great seafood restaurant with something on menu for everyone. Four of us made reservations for inside dining. Were seated promptly and four drink orders taken. The Fresco was so good we got it again! Appetizer of calamari and garlic bread was good. Not oily and was served hot. A wedge salad was split, serving size was average for a side salad. Not a big fan of a 1/4 head of large lettuce, so the smaller portion was a great pairing. Main courses were mac and cheese, the sea bass, ahi tower and kumamoto oysters. Mac and cheese was great with crusty top and smokey and cheesy. My bass was amazing with chorizo, clams, mussels and scallops. The saffron brings it all together like a nice paella sans rice. This would have been nice if a piece of rustic bread came with it. The sauce was that good. My daughter really like the ahi tuna, but didnt eat the chips. The oysters were the right size and had the expected flavor, fresh and like the ocean. We had coffee and several desserts. The crem brulee was creamy and not overly sweet. The warm cookie was the best. The begnees are more like malasadas. They paired very well with the fruit preserve. So dont expect the cafe du monde variety. I actually likened them to bunuelos from Guam, except no banana.Service was great as expected. Do not go on the weekends and Friday and complain how slow it is. This place can get busy. We came on a thursday and had a 2.5 hour dinner. We took our time and never felt rushed. The surfaces are mostly hard so expect some noise. Sit outside of the weather is nice. All in all, my 3 girls loved most of the food and will return to try the burger and other offerings.

I was invited to have brunch at Wence and so I went with the cousins. For some of us it was the first visit and some had been here already. I just love it when there is a parking lot. It makes the experience much more enjoyable. It has the looks of a high-end restaurant.I had a mimosa and a coffee, yes I did! I preserved the Dungeness Crab omelette. It was made with egg-whites, filled with real crab and jack cheeses, topped with fresh avocado slices and spinach garnish and served with home style potatoes. Other favorites were Dungeness Crab Avocado Benedict and Lobster spinach Benedict. Our groups shared a bowl of lobster bisque, so creamy and yummy!We had a little taste of their dessert. The apple cranberry crisp. It had apples and cranberries topped with oatmeal crunch...served warm!Our server was Valentin awesome! He was polite, attentive, and smiled every time he came to the table. I was told this place had a great dinner menu, so I’ll be coming back. The price was standard for “brunch.”

Updated Review 5/7/21 (star rating unchanged!) Wences never disappoints! The dinner menu is always amazing and I recently went for the first time since COVID & for the first time for lunch! The outer dining area is expansive, covered & lovely. Masks were worn by staff and required by patrons when not seated at their socially distanced tables - all of which I found to be relaxing and easy to comply with.The service was as usual delightful and attentive, you never need to get a servers attention or wait forever for them to come to you.I had the lobster tacos with sweet potato fries, I cant remember the name of my drink but its the first cocktail listed & contained berries & a float of prosecco (il mio preferito!) and the mixed oysters to start as I cant ever decide which ones I like best!Everything was perfect during my first official outing to a restaurant since February 2020. And that is precisely why I chose to make that outing at Wences. As I said at the start, they never disappoint!

An exceptionally nice bar and grill. Specializing in seafood, they have an amazing menu full of everything that swims. From raw oysters, to calamari, to lobster and bass, they are a seafood lovers paradise. Theyre bar and mixologist is also exceptionally well versed and creative. They have a full bar so have all your basics, but their signature drink selection is amazing. Full of drinks that accentuate and highlight the alcohol within the drink, these are not the sugary nightmares served at chain restaurants--they are delightful concoctions that compliment high quality spirits rather than cover up cheap alcohol. I highly, HIGHLY recommend it in every way possible!

The rating goes out to our server Sarah and the restaurant for accommodating 10 adults 6 kids plus two infants and 3 strollers! I know it can be a lot to handle (and sorry to the guests around for the loud kids) but our party really appreciated the GREAT service tonight (11/27)! Sarah was very attentive and checked in on us consistently, and the rest of the staff was quick to clear our plates and we never waited too long for the food.Drinks were delicious (sidecars were strong but did the job), oysters were nice and fresh and the burrata special was so yummy!Really appreciate the restaurant for taking care of our big party and not giving us a hard time :) cant say the same for the restaurant goers but again well reconsider bringing all those kids next time 😅

Wence’s is a wonderful hidden gem in Pleasant Hill! The food, atmosphere and friendly staff are worth a trip to the East Bay! They have seating for big groups too, so it’s great for a work lunch or celebration dinner. I hosted a work lunch for 40 and they did a great job! Or just stop in for a drink at the bar, it has a cozy home town feel.

Had a fine meal and good service…then they billed my credit twice for the same meal which resulted in a significant overcharge. None of their email addresses work and the only way to contact them is to call their phone number (which no one answers) and select a menu option to make a reservation…then, finally, you’ll speak to a person who says they’ll look into it and call you back later. Good luck if you have any credit card billing issues. I will not be going back.

The restaurant expanded during the pandemic and looks very modern and sophisticated! I love the huge outdoor seating that has been added. Our waiter was excellent and the food was good. this is one of my favorite go to restaurants for large gatherings as well as a last minute lunch with a friend. I brought a group of about 15 people here after a funeral and the service was excellent as well as the food. Highly recommended!

Brought my mom here for brunch for her birthday. It was my first time eating here. My mom and sister have eaten dinner here before, but this was their first time for brunch. We had a group of 9 and were seated inside, but they had an outdoor patio. I felt comfortable eating inside, they kept the parties spread enough. The restaurant looks nice and feels fancy. The food was really good. I had a burger, my wife had a fish dish. My eldest son had a 2 egg breakfast. My mom had fish & chips. The staff were very good too. I was really impressed with this place. I will come back again. On a side note the restrooms were clean and easy to take a toddler to.

It was my mother in laws birthday so we brought a small long slice of cake and we cut it ourselves but they still charged a $16 cake fee!! This was my first time knowing there is a fee called cake fee! The cake was just $20 and the fee was almost as the cake! This is ridiculous. Are you expecting ppl go to celebrate their bs day here without a cake?? Also this places menu was out of date, the final bill came with increased price at least one or two dollars than their menu showing for each dish! the size did get much smaller than before. We have been going here many times even our companys holiday lunch was held here.But that would be the last time i go this restaurant and so is our company!

My party of four Sat in the outside area, very shady and pleasant. Had hot wings appetizer and it was saucy and crispy with a perfect heat. I had chicken breast sandwich which was on a perfect bun that was soft but held together till the end, very good. Party had a prawn scampi, big serving with at least 6 big juicy prawns and not oily at all unlike some scampi. A burger and a fish and chips rounded it out, with good crispy fries accompanying each dish except scampi. Food was a little slow coming out but service was great and the ice tea actually tastes like tea! Every thing was perfect, hot and fresh. Im looking forward to going back at cocktail time, the bar looks good too!

$1 oysters on Sundays and Mondays!!! When we visited, the specials were prime rib and surf and turf (lobster tail and some kind of steak). Prime rib was perfect. (Hence four out of five stars.) I ordered seafood and got food poisoning. Got home. Laid in bed because I felt sleepy. When I woke up, I felt dizzy and I had the urge to vomit. I went to the bathroom and stood by the toilet waiting for the vomit. And when I finally went, it was the salmon from my meal. Then I had a diarrhea episode all night. I thought I had to call in sick. But that God, it subsided. I was able to go to work and I felt better. Thank you.

I do not recommend coming here if you are celebrating something and have a cake you want to cut after dinner. This restaurant charges a $25 fee just to cut a cake you bring in from the outside. To make matters worst, they do not tell you until they bring the cake to the table. This is absolutely absurd. I do not recommend this restaurant.

Have been going there for last 4 years. Unfortunately, the last 3 times I have been there the service has been terrible. Last night the Oyster Rockefeller appetizer took almost 30 minutes and the oysters were the size of a dime. The scallops did not taste fresh.The servers were clueless. We waited 10 minutes for our server to come to our table They did not come back and check on our table throughout most of the dinner and left us with dirty plates for 15 minutes.The entire wait staff needs to be retrained. Will not be returning.

Definitely going downhill. Oysters were tiny... embarassing actually for the price charged. They had zero meat on them. I asked for a dirty martini extra cold and got a clean, warm martini. We ordered bread and got it 5 min before meal end but got charged for it anyway. There were 4 of us and only 3 water glasses... had to ask 3 times to get a 4th. We never once saw the waitress from ordering until we had to flag down someone else to get her. There was no offer for more water, a second drink, or even dessert. For this we paid $300 for 4 people and only 2 of us ordered a drink. Its not worth it anymore. We likely wont be back.

Wences in Pleasant Hill offers a consistently spectacular and upscale dining experience. They have a beautiful outdoor patio and their menu has great variety. Some delicious options include the French Dip, Crispy Chicken Sandwich, Cajun Jambalaya, burgers, and the White Truffle Mac and Cheese. I highly recommend the mac and cheese with bacon, as it is beautifully presented with generous portions. They also feature what possibly might be the greatest dessert of all time, the Cookie Melt. This delicious and mouth-watering finale is a warm cookie skillet topped with vanilla gelato.A nearby restaurant, which shall not be named, used to feature a similar dessert, the Gelookie, an oven-baked cookie topped with your favorite flavor of gelato. Unfortunately, they removed it from their menu during the pandemic and have not brought it back (as of my latest visit) despite my repeated requests over the last two years. I am so thankful and grateful that Wences is in the East Bay and offers the Cookie Melt because no other restaurants within at least 150 miles serve this delectable family favorite.

07/14/2022 Could have been a 5-star meal. Had a celebration lunch at Wences for 6 people. I ordered the ribeye steak. The steak was bland to say the least with far too much fat even for a ribeye. I mentioned to the server when clearing our table the steak had far too much fat and was not very good. She apologized and said she would tell her manager. I received the bill and paid the bill. When my party left I wanted to hear the managers opinion because he did not come to our table. I sought him out inside as my party departed our table outside. Manager David told me that that the steak was fine. He believed the amount of fat was okay. I asked him if he saw the amount of fat on the plate and the appearance of the steak l didnt eat? Would he pay for a steak that appeared like that? He said he would.Ive been eating steak for over 50 years and this was a terrible steak. It happens. I ordered a cosmo with a lime garnish and I got one with an orange peel. I didnt send it back. I drank it. It happens. When the server apologized and said she would inform the manager I thought he would come to our table and address the issue. Thats all. I believe David fell short on his approach to this matter and an apology was all that was necessary, not defending a bad steak. Wences is a very good restaurant. This doesnt discourage me from dining there in the future..but beware of the ribeye!

You will love this place! Food is made right on the premises no shortcuts here. Im from LA and cannot believe this Cosmopolitan hipster restaurant. Dont think the neighbors know just what they got in their neighborhood. The chef has traveled around the world and prepares the food in the kitchen himself. Food is made on the spot, prices are reasonable, and the drinks are wonderful. They do have a happy hour if you want to stick your toes in the water and just pick up the vibe. You must go. It was easy to get my reservation through open table and had to modify my reservation due to a few cancellations. That was all great. They were ready with my table when I got there. A Hidden Gem. The locals in this Pleasant Hill community have known about Wences for years. I lucked onto it through a friend who lives in the area.The place is beautiful with a wonderful bar and well-planned outside Covid dining area. They will take reservations for inside dining, otherwise, 1st come 1st served.I know we all see many reviews stating how wonderful the food is all the time. If I could give 1 star, I would! I made a reservation for 8 of my colleagues and I to enjoy a mid week dinner at Wences. As soon as we walked in, we noticed that it was especially warm inside the restaurant. The AC was broken and it was a 100 degree day. To make matters worst, the service was very poor. We sat down for about 15-20 minutes before I had to ask someone to come over and take our drink and food orders. Usually drink orders are taken first, but given the long wait, we were forced to place both drink and food at the same time. We then waited another 30 minutes for glasses of wine - which didn’t come. Our food orders came out and we were still waiting for our wine. After another complaint, the wine came out and the staff offered to give a discount.You would think that exceptional service would be given to a party of our size - one of the largest parties in the restaurant at the time. The restaurant could have had an opportunity to earn a sizable bill and tip but missed that opportunity by offering poor service to a large corporate party. I was completely embarrassed that I chose Wence’s for our work dinner. My colleagues and I will never be dining at this establishment again and I recommend that they greatly improve their customer service.

Then, before we were even halfway through the apps, our dinner was being served. That was disappointing as they should have spaced it out a bit. Lots of spoon fills of just broth and onion. the bread is the best part IMO, so that was a bummer... I have never seen such a small piece of bread under the cheese in a FO soup in my life, and Ive tried many. but the main plates that came out were very good and made up for it mostly. Just had to ask for the missing dipping broth for French dip, and would have liked more water refills, but def liked it. Fish n chips was good,, fish was fried and breaded very well, crispy and large flakes of fish inside. and shoestring fries were good too. Go if youre in a fancy mood and have time.

This very popular place has a problem, the very rude and bigoted manager Sandy. It is obvious she is a family member of the owner; no employee would behave so brazenly rude, confrontational, and belligerent. This outfit probably can get away with really poor service, so-so food and inflated higher than SF pricing because its the only game in town. Still, poor service is poor service. The woman was so hostile and miserly when we asked about Crostini that usually comes with seafood broth dishes like Cioppino or Bouillabaisse. The waitress had assured us that my dish comes with Crostini. When it was missing and we inquired about it, Sandy showed up, like a prison guard in demeanor and tone. In an angry accusatory retort she said we should have read the menu more carefully, that Crostini or any kind of bread was not mentioned on the menu. If we really wanted Crostini, well have to order it for $2. This is a $32 dish and she is arguing about a piece of Crostini!! After much insulting harangue, she gave us the cold bread and butter, something many restaurants would automatically bring to you before your orders arrive. My friend was dumbfounded and felt really bad for bringing me there for my birthday. I have been to many well known seafood restaurants in SF, Oakland, and Sausalito over the years and have never experienced such a demeaning and rude manager. We noticed she was all chummy with some other customers. Perhaps she has a thing against seniors, which we both are. Or, perhaps she is a begot against non-white which one of us is, or she just does not understand what restaurant business is all about. She did not have to be interviewed for the job. Whatever it is, she should not be working in a restaurant - the Hospitality business. There is nothing hospitable about her. The place would not have survived if it were in SF or Oakland, with its over-priced mediocre food and sub-par services. We skipped dessert and went to Jacks after the meal, the bartender and wait staff there were by comparison, very normal, as restaurant staff ought to be. Wences probably will continue to be very popular where it is, but if one is a non-white senior, is discerning about consistent good services, and excellent food quality appropriately priced, this is not the place.On a side note, we ordered ahi tuna for appetizer, it was a small dish at $20, room temperature, not chilled, and the measly sauce made the dish an overly priced chopped up sashimi, only without any of the fresh cool taste of a sashimi.

Recently went there for the first time with my family. What a miserable experience! The food ranged from fair to inedible. A mussels appetizer was very pedestrian in taste and, unfortunately, was also undercooked.I had fish with a seafood-type sauce. The fish itself was a very small portion and was slimy and pretty much tasted just like the sauce (which was very ho-hum). Someone else had a red-sauce based pasta which was inedible. Fish and chips was OK. Another pasta dish was so greasy that it too went unfinished, the last third of it sitting in a pool of oil in the bowl. Second time i have been here. I had the calamari apitizer, side salad, salmon dinner, apple crisp and a couple of drinks. The atmosphere was, as it was the first time, very energetic and robust. Most of the time you over pay for mediocreat food at best. At Wences the food, both my wifes and mine, were extremely flavorful, flavors extremely well balanced and complimentary to the salmon, and the sauce on the salmon could have been a meal onto it self!Normally the dinner or ala cart side salads are well, pretty lackluster. Even this side plate was very well balanced, with a variety of salad fixings and the dressing had to be made from scratch it was so good. The deserts were equally a feast for the taste buds. Normally even the fruit crisps ala mode are over sweet and rich. Again an excellent desert that teminded me of the traditional german pastrys. Full of flavor, light, and exquisitly delicious.This time we sat at the bar instead of the dininh room. Both bartenders were attentive, friendly, appropriately tending bar and making conversation with all of the customers.Over all, definately a 10/10! I have been here many times. This is one of the few restaurants that have the trifecta of 1) every single menu is at least very good (most are great or exceptional), 2) good portion sizes, and 3) reasonable prices. And because its not in the center of Walnut Creek or Pleasant Hill, theres usually not a wait (though it does often get busy). All around, Id say its my favorite restaurant in the area. This is my third official review of my series: Lunch in the Creek. I went on Yelp, typed in lunch and searched for the top rated lunch spots. What did I find? Check out my list.Very slow around 12:00pm. Picked a seat by the window and quickly ordered a BLT with fries. The BLT was great. There was a ton of avocado and I think some aioli that tasted great. The bacon was very crisp, and thats how I like it. There were some pickles on the side (not so great for me; I hate pickles), which seemed to go against the BLT name, but theres nothing wrong with more options! The bread was toasted and didnt get soggy. Even a day later, the bread was just a tad soft.The fries were hot, salty and also had a satisfying crunch.I finished half the sandwich and all of my fries. Update: 3/22 We have tried Wences again and it is mediocre at best. Their pasta carbonara is not traditional but a poor alfredo style copy. It is not carbonara at all which has no cream, and this was heavy with cream and mushrooms and non-carbonara ingredients. This restaurant is a true hit and miss on service and food. It is not traditional and interpretation, which I find to be heavy on cream and fat. The lobster bisque is great but two teaspoons is enough, too rich and fatty. I still find UFOs in my food and had to send food back...A lot of people love this restaurant, I have eaten here twice and was severely disappointed both times. It came down to careless food preparation and foreign objects in my food ie: plastic wrapper. One time we went in to eat and it smelled so heavily of old fish, we walked out. We have not gone back because it and the fact they restaurant staff did nothing to rectify my concerns regarding the food preparation. I had an artichoke soup and it had not been strained properly it had all the heart hairs in it and frankly it was disgusting and inedible.

Ive spent over $10,000 at Wences. This is not an exaggeration. I live 2 blocks away and over the past 9 years have gone once a month without fail. We supported them through the pandemic including monthly to go dinners for 2 or 3. Tonight we got the Shrimp Louie salad for $21. Server suggested a split with Shrimp and Crab. There were 2 tablespoons at most of crab added to our salad. Upcharge? $12. I talked to another long time customer sitting next to us who heard. My daughter took us therefor dinner and it was the first time I had been there. Excellent mac and cheese starter..delicious..We each ordered an entree so we could try everything!Fish and chips, a walnut grape chicken alfredo and a shrimp pasta!! fish and chips were very good..cole slaw had a bitter aftertaste..it may have been what they were after but it didnt do it for me. The alfredo was delicious and the three of us agreed it was the winning entree. Large servings, crowded in the bar area due to happy hour. Excellent serving staff who answered all our questions and kept us filled with bread and water. Shrimp pasta entree was good as well but a little spicy for my closenet taste buds. We will definitely go back!. Also had a bowl of their lobster bisque which we shared as well. Between the mac and cheese and soup as a starter..we had lots to take home foe a meal the next day.

Made a reservation for four then called back a few minutes later to change it to five people. When we arrived our reservation was for four people and we had to wait for a table for five. The bread they served was stale, really? Conversation consisted of leaning over the table and shouting, what!? I cant hear you!! Yes, hardwood floors, and bare walls and ceilings make for lots of noise. My wedge salad was pretty good, but I had to ask for salt and pepper. Uh, at these prices you should show up with a salad and a pepper grinder or return with one immediately. And you should have salt on the table please. One of us ordered a martini, and the bartender had to come over and clarify if it was vodka or gin, oops. My fish tacos came with guacamole and salsa. I spent most of the meal wondering what I was supposed to do with these two items since neither goes on a fish taco and I had no chips.Overall the food was decent, but felt like a rip off with the prices we paid and the amateur hour in the front of house and the unbelievable noise of the place when it was only half full with people.

I went to Wences a few years ago, the food was excellent. I recently went for dinner, had the crab cakes( Appetizer) and Filet mignon, Both were very disappointing, The crab cakes had a lot more filler in them,the Filet was burnt on the outside to the point where it didnt taste very good, It tasted like beef you would get in a stew.I did like the potatoes, vegetables and the waitress was nice.I wont be going back.... Very disappointed!!! it was a special occasion.I spent a lot of money on what I thought was going to be good food😔

The staff seem pleasant enough and competent which is more than can be said of the kitchen staff. We ordered the Calamari for starters that wasnt offensive but was lacking a crispiness to the batter. For the main course i ordered the seared Scallops with Asparagus Risotto. When it arrived the Scallops had no sear at all and were under cooked. I cut one in half to show the waiter who sent it back into the kitchen. Rather than make the dish correctly from scratch as would be the right thing to do, the dish came back with the Scallops now hidden underneath a salad. They we black and burnt and the Risotto dry and mushy. I sent it back and refused to order anything else. For a Seafood restaurant to get this wrong is criminal. We wont be going back.

Wences has a charming atmosphere and pleasant wait staff. Decor was nice looking and drew no complaints from me.There were a few things though that made this nights dinner just 2 stars.Service- upon being seated by our host, my date and I chatted for about 20 minutes. Only then did our waiter approach our table, his first words being sorry about that, we didnt know who was in charge of this table. He brought bread and waters for the table, but then disappeared again for several minutes before he came back to take our drink order.Noise- the restaurant was at just about 1/3 capacity, and I could barely hear my date just 3 feet across the table. The vaulted ceilings look great but the lack of acoustic tiling makes for a very noisy restaurant. I cant imagine what they would be like on a Friday or Saturday night.Quality- Their menu is simple but with variety. I think this is good. I dont want to read a phone book size menu just to pick dinner. Wences has a few items in each category, most patrons will find something they can enjoy. However what I noticed was an emphasis on presentation at the sake of overall quality. I would call the Calamari appetizer just OK, but it was presented beautifully. My Wences cheeseburger was also just OK, but presented fashionably. My dates Gorgonzola pasta, you guessed it...just OK, but presented in a very fancy bowl.I dont see myself going back to Wences, unless by chance a friend wants company and is willing to pick up the tab. Their overall low quality leads me to spend half the money for better quality food elsewhere.

After 25 minutes, the food arrived but half the order was incorrect. When they brought out the incorrect food again after another 10 minutes, we walked out.

This was the first time we had dinner at this place. The food and the service were both very good. We sat inside where many of the tables were occupied, so, it was very noisy. It was hard to have a conversation. Parking was not easy. I recommend this place but be ready for a noisy experience.

The first time the wife and I went here the food took @ 45 minutes to arrive and they were only medium busy. I ordered gnocchi and my wife ordered a a steak. The steak was so dry her jaw got tired from chewing and the sauce on my gnocchi was terrible. I spit it into my napkin. We ended up walking out and went to Melos.

The hostess gave us options as the back was packed and as a couple we wanted to spend time talking.. prices are very reasonable, friendly staff, puppie friendly on the sidewalk tables. House chard was nice, not pretentious, and very drinkable. Gonna be a regular thing.

The worst restaurant experience of my ENTIRE life. Quite possibly the worst experience with any business owner in my life as well. After my dinner didnt come 25 minutes into my friends and family eating the owner of the restaurant came over to blame the entire issue on the new waitress. I told her thats fine if you want to blame her, I just need you to make it right.Many minutes later I got my food, the poor waitress was terrified of her manager obviously. My husband spoke to the owner and told her she needs to do something about my meal coming out after everyone had eaten and now toddlers trying to escape the table leaving me to eat dinner by myself.Many more minutes later we received the bill, the only adjustment made was for my meal, not covering my wine, any of the sides of fries. Granted I appreciate they took off my meal the whole experience was ruined for everyone-not to mention that the owner took ZERO responsibility for the issue which is customer service 101- dont blame someone else for it, just make it right!I calmly approached the owner and said I appreciated she took off my meal but it would be nice if she could take of something else. She was immediately FURIOUS with me I already took off your meal- it is a VERY expensive meal (it was $18 or 20 for a chicken dish). Where is your husband? I already talked to him. and she takes off for the table to find my husband. He wasnt at the table bc he was outside with our child. She says well you already sent back a glass of wine so why are you complaining? I explained that it was my friend who sent back her wine and that it is a pretty typical cost of doing business when you own a restaurant as I have over 6 years of waitressing experience. She turns to my friends husband - the only one left at the table and says VERBATIM Can you please get her in line? MY jaw hits the floor and I grabbed my purse and walked out.Eventually she comes outside to tell us she will be calling the police, asks my husband This is your wife? You let her act this way in public?After she goes back inside the husbands went in to try to pay but she had decided our money was no good there and that we arent welcome.I refer to this woman as the owner because I dont think there is ANYWAY a restaurant owner would behave in this manner. Completely unprofessional and beyond rude to ask the men I am with to keep me in line when I was calm the entire time.DINER BEWARE!
