A cute little atmosphere and the food was pretty tasty. Cornbread was not dry and the beans and slaw were also good. Ribs I wish were meatier so I would just try something different next time. It’s nice that they do small business events on certain weekends. I do have to comment on the nutty lady that lives on the corner lol she was cursing and screaming about people not being from Pedro and parking near her drive way. She was sporting a giant bottle of Bombay liquor haha so it could be that. Apparently she tries to cause a ruckus often regardless of the parking. Either way if you haven’t tried this place out I’d recommend it. And try to come during a small business weekend then you could also pick up dessert with your meal.
Super tasty! We order a 3 meat plate dish but had the bbq tacos recommended to us and man oh man the bbq salsa or salsa-q is so good! And the tacos are delicious. Thursdays is apparently the typical taco night so check it out
I don’t even know where to begin. I’m currently in a food coma. My acid reflux is probably gunna start any minute but it was worth every bite. Hands down the best barbecue I have ever had in my 35 years of life. Super friendly staff with positive vibes. I will be back and add this into my regular rotation. Highly recommend the tri-tip dip brisket and chicken. Potato salad and baked beans also on point. Hats off to everyone who makes this place come to life and in the preps and cooking 🙏🏼

Im giving this spot a solid 5. I accidentally came across this spot, while riding my bike. The owner was super friendly and chatted with me, so I returned for lunch and the BBQ chicken-hands down, the best. Also, the side are great. Staff super friendly and food freshly cooked. I have zero complaints. The venue is only open on the weekends. Also, once their out of meat, they stop taking orders. In addition, cash only, vemo and Zell for payment.

Home cooking like mom use to do. Comfort food like none other. The home made cornbread was so moist and sweet. Amazing meals to celebrate life and special occasions. We highly recommend them because the brisket melts in your mouth, and the spareribs are so tender you dont even need all your teeth to enjoy them. we know because we are old.
Called on fathers day 2023 to make sure they will be open. Employee on the phone guaranteed they will be open until 5pm. Showed up within an hour of the call and was told they ran out of meat at the restaurant. We also were told they had nothing left. What a great way to provide customer service. Wasted time coming to this place.

Great BBQ however I wish I had brought my favorite BBQ sauce, for some reason the sauce they provide is vinegary any thin. But the meat is prepared well, tender and right.

The bbq that is served at this location has been grasping at a new area of flavor for my wife and myself, and has enhanced my understanding of what true bbq is. I know California is not known for being a true BBQ state but in comparison to what Ive tried before to now, I can safely say this is true bbq without the flight or drive.The owners, and staff are good people to know. They make sure you are well attended and taken care of specially when you are dining in.Make sure to call ahead if you dont want to missed out on their cornbread 😋.This place never disappoints.Very much recommends this bbq place. Dont get fooled by the appearance, the smell will bring you in, but the food will BLOW YOU AWAY!!!

This is one of those local insider-knowledge type of places. They operate over the weekends...I think its Thursday through Sunday. Its an al fresco venue with picnic benches and an outdoor smoking barbecue--it smells fabulously awesome!!! The owners and staff are locals, and great to talk to and make you feel welcome. Sometimes a solo musician might play over in the corner. It totally has a rural European vibe to it.They focus on what they do best and have a tightly-focused menu--the barbecue is excellent. But do not miss out on their sides!!! Theyve got fantastic cornbread, brisket chili, tapioca and more.Dont miss out if youre in the area over the weekend. Then go check out Pt. Fermin Park or the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium.
The chicken was so tender and the ribs were just right! Would have enjoyed a bit bigger portion of the coleslaw.I would have liked to see the place hosed down since all the seating is on the cement pad.
Dinner was amazing! We shared a 3 meat combo (ribs, brisket, and hot link) with two sides (potato salad and baked beans). While there was enough for two people, we only wish we got more because it was all so delicious!Ribs fall off the bone and have a delicious smoky flavor, brisket was tender and juicy, and the hot link was so flavorful! The baked beans were perfect and the potato salad was so great with a little spice from the jalapeño, I could’ve eaten a gallon of it! The corn bread was moist and not too crumbly - I would’ve gladly eaten a whole pan of it if it was put in front of me.I’m not generally a huge fan of BBQ but I’m already looking forward to my next meal there and taking friends and family there when they come to visit!

I had the brisket plate. It comes with a lot of brisket, likely enough for two normal eaters. I also really enjoyed the potato salad.
What a special spot this is. Came here after exploring San Pedro and Palos Verdes, and was very pleased. We both got their limited brisket dip and thought it was delicious. Apparently this is in an old gas station, adding some cool flair to this outdoor-dining only establishment. Next time we are in the neighborhood we want to try some of their meats on their own with some sides. Note- the seating is a little limited and it’s standard bbq pricing so get your wallet ready.
Best BBQ of my whole life and I lived in Atlanta for 4 years. The ribs are amazing. The corn bread is stunningly good. It’s hand made by one of the owner’s mother, daily.
O M G! I am so glad that I finally got to try this wonderful little Pedro gem. The folks that run it are great, their service was so welcoming I felt right at home. Now, the food. I have to say, this will have me as a fan, I tried the K-BLT, a Saturday special, at their recommendation, and wow! It was delectable, I ate every bite I pure joy. OMG...I just finished my dinner and both my Parents and myself LOVE LOVE LOVE this place.My Dad can be a bit picky about what he eats, but he was raving about the Brisket Tacos saying they were the best hes ever had. Mom loved her Chicken and all I can say about the Ribs, is that theyre EXCELLENT....big time PRAISES to Whiskey Flats from the Chavez family 👍🏼👍🏼

Great bbq with a different menu selection regularly. My ribs and pork belly were so good, but the Cactus creamed corn was amazing. I wanted more. Hopefully they have it next weekend. Some days get really busy so get there early.

They ran out of all the main entrees as the lunch hour was ending so there was only St Louis flavored rib tips, their chili & cubano sandwich, cornbread, a dessert and sides were left. The rib tips were tough, chewy and too spicy so we gave that plate away. The chili was St Louis too but no where as spicy, so we shredded the chunk of meat it came with, added two tbsp of water to thin out its denseness and it was fine. The cornbread was delicious & the banana pudding dessert was an unexpected delite. Well return early on a weekday and order online for a pick-up order so theres a chance of trying the menu items we were originally there for.

Every once in awhile we get to discover & enjoy a memorable food experience.I had one at Whiskey Flats yesterday. Excellent baby back ribs, but the real stars were the brisket and the collard greens. The brisket was as good, maybe better, than Ive had, in the past, in the San Antonio and Texas Hill Country. Smoked over almond wood, to perfection. The collard greens are their unique recipe. Never had collards to match them, ever. Theres nothing complicated about this food, but the sheer excellent quality is worth a drive.
Ok first time here. Its a old gas station ⛽ made in to a restaurant.......very cool. Picnic tables and patio seating. There was a guy sitting in the corner playing guitar which only added to the whole experience. We had the ribs and brisket. I cut the brisket with the little plastic fork they give you....amazingly tender and the flavor is great. Ill be back!

I would try it once and see For yourself if its worth the cost at the portions they give. Theres no question that the food is very good .Bottom line, ( Portion sizes on the whole dish Between the meats and the sides are not up to par) I give it 3 stars but it deserves 4 and a 1/2 plus if they adjust the portion sizes on the meal, If and when that happens youll be lines out the door . The best BBQ in LA that Ive had. I was born and raised in New Mexico where Texas BBQ reigns supreme. I can tell you this spot in Pedro rivals them all. Mouth watering brisket a sweet and tangy sauce, you come away smelling smokey and I wouldnt have it any other way. Just as a roadside texas spot, these guys have just enough of what you could ask for and delicious sides. Go for the spicy potato salad it is awesome. I will definitely be back! Ask for extra sauce!
The best bbq spot around. The portions are very generous and delicious. All of the sides are to die for. They also do catering, we got Whiskey Flats to cater my sons 1st birthday and everyone loved it! The brisket, collard greens and coleslaw and my go to favorites. The Thursday brisket tacos (Thursday only)have become a lunchtime favorite since they started making them.

If you in the Long Beach or San Pedro area, and want REAL BBQ then check this place out. I havent had Brisket like that since I lived in Texas (Sparks Rib Cook Off only exception). Definitely going back the next time that Im in SoCal.
Best barbecue I have ever had. Their bbq sauce is a perfect balance of sweet, savory acid and heat. The smoked meat is so tender! We took some to a family get together and realized we only had plastic utensils and was worried for a minute but you didn’t even need a knife.We got a mix of the brisket, ribs and chicken. I am not normally a fan of ribs. These pork ribs are my exception. Meat just fell of the bone. Loved the rub they use on the brisket! The chicken had a nice smoked char to it.We had the baked beans and coleslaw as a side. The beans had a nice smokey hint to them and again perfectly balanced the sweetness and savoriness. The coleslaw was perfect to cut through the meal. Not too sweet, and just a little creamy and that hit of acid, just the way I like it.10/10 definitely recommend!
Having lived in TX the last 3.5yrs, certainly have gotten spoiled. WFbbq has some of the better brisket I’ve found outside of TX. Touch more salt & smoke and this would be really good. Collard greens were on point and banana pudding was good too. Cool little spot, prices were reasonable given rent cannot be cheap in this area. Worth it if you’re in the area.
This place is a BBQ and meat lover’s dream. They have some of the best brisket you can find in SoCal plus super delicious sides. Would definitely recommend to anyone who’s looking for a great BBQ spot.
Im glad I found this gem. I had a project out in San Pedro and I found this place. I constantly went there for lunch on Thursday and Friday. All in all I probably visited this place more than 10 times In one month. Theyre only open Thursday-Sunday. Im glad to say I went one Saturday and found out they have a different menu for Saturday and Sunday. They had this thing called the Tri tip sandwich it was to die for. If Im ever in a situation where I would have to have my last my last meal the Tri tip sandwich and El pastor taco will be it.

I was so pleased with their food. Their ribs are so good. I’ve had plenty of different kinds of ribs but those were by far one of the best ribs I’ve had. The seasonings were spot on. They also had brisket to die for it was so juicy and mouth watering. I’m a meat eater and this place satisfied my cravings for some good meat.
We had the brisket meal. It was fantastic. Meat was so tender and juicy, full of Smokey goodness. Potato salad was delicious and the smbrosia salad was made with fresh crispy fruit topped with toasted coconut. We will be back for sure. Cash & Venmo only so be prepared.

Went here today because of all the hype and was not impressed with the brisket plate. It was dry and lacked flavor even with the sauce it comes with on top. The amount they give you is good though. Maybe next time I will try something else off of the menu and give it another chance.
Whiskey Flats was a new experience for me and my daughter. We live near by and didn’t know it existed! What a great find. We arrived late and the only choice of meat where the ribs. OMG sooo good! The pasta salad is awesome. I don’t think you can go wrong. The owner and staff are real down to earth San Pedro people. The atmosphere is welcoming and friendly. Outdoor dining is nicely decorated. Covid guidelines observed. We’re so happy to have such a great bbq restaurant in our area. I hope yo’all come out and support Whiskey Flats!!!

Just had the mix plate of pulled pork and smoked brisket. It was the most legit and amazing BBQ Ive had in a very long time. So much so that I forgot to take a picture before devouring it... Lol! The only other decent BBQ place in SoCal is Phils BBQ in SD but this actually far outweighs Phils. They may only have a few menu options but you dont need many options when the food is this good. The food definitely speaks for itself. They were also very friendly and didnt take very long to come out. We may have gotten lucky tho bc there wasnt a line.

Food was ok. Way too overpriced, paid $23 for a brisket that had mostly fat on it and the side orders were ridiculously tiny. Parking is not great either. Will not be returning.

I just love this place as far as I care best place in San Pedro for BBQ. Update 6-11-2021 went today they have added to their menu still one of the best place to get BBQ. The portion size is good and I have never had a complaint about the service or food at this place.

The food is spice for my taste, but what I really didnt like there: there is not a manager to organize tables. The side orders were ridiculously tiny (1/4 of a cup max for each of a total of two tiny containers aside from the meat). The potato salad side had about 10 small chunks of potato, and the green beans side had about 15 tiny pieces of chopped green beans!! Like, reallyyy!!! These two extra small side orders were for two adults. Basically, we paid $40 for the meat only. They also had ran out of corn bread. Again, the servings were very odd. Although servers and service was nice, the servings were really disappointing. For the price we paid, I rather go to Lucilles BBQ House without hesitation. We will not return to Whisky Flats. The containers were as flat. Spend your money somewhere else.

2023-06-26 16:20:58Even though I haven’t had too much barbecue in my lifetime, I was highly impressed. You get an outdoor eating experience and leave smelling like barbecue. For service, the staff is friendly and welcome first timers. By far, the best cut of meat that I tried was the brisket.I ordered the 2 plate meal with brisket and ribs and shared it. It comes with 2 sides, and I had the potato salad and coleslaw. The barbecue tastes homemade and has a nice tang to it, so if you’re expecting a sweet and dense barbecue sauce, it’ll be a lovely surprise because it pairs so well with the barbecue. The coleslaw is not your average mayo coleslaw, rather it has an Asian flare with cashew and cranberries. The cornbread is chef’s kiss, as it blends a yellow cake texture and flavor with the traditional recipe.After discovering this gem, I’ll definitely be coming back for more and try the pulled pork.

2023-10-23 19:21:04Great food, great service. We got the brisket tacos and a brisket slider to dine in with a side of chili, then ordered a couple of turkey legs to take to the beach. Everything was delicious, and well-priced for good barbecue! I highly recommend coming here if theyre open, well definitely be back.

Bbq is a hard one to say one place has the best because every spot has their thing. Well... @whiskeyflats_bbq thing is the seasoning! Look at picture, you can taste that seasoning! Its just a small spot that serves bbq like Texas (probably better) The folks working there are super chill too!This plate was calling my name! The breakdown:3 Meat 2 Sides:The ribs were tenders and fell off the bone. Flavor 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥The Chicken was tenderfully seasoned and I got some of the crunchy skin! You already know! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥The brisket was my favorite of all 3 meats! All of the above and the fat was filled with the flavorful juices of the seasoning! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥No doubt about it, its no wonder they were voted best bbq on the beach for 2022! Make sure you check them out next time you are in San Pedro! 10/10 recommend!The last picture is just of how I parked my car. Cant get any closer than that parallel parking!

2022-12-20 18:46:28The meat was cooked to perfection. They had the perfect amount of chard and seasoning. The greens were good and seasoned. The Mac and cheese, banana pudding and beans were not all to good bland and no real flavor. The beans are also made with chickpeas. The BBQ is more of a vinegar base so has a more of a tangy and liquid consistency than other sauces. Overall there was a nice portion of meat and sides for the price.

2023-09-16 19:21:02The only BBQ place I can honestly say, its as good as I can make! Im VERY critical when it comes to BBQ... up untill now NO BBQ joint ever came close to my BBQ! Brisket, pulled pork and Chicken was TOP notch! Real smoke sauce on the side (didnt even need it). 10 out of 10! Svc was fast and efficient, the outdoor setting was clean, plenty of paper towels and shade. My biggest compliment is the value! I spent $30 for one order of 3 meats and it fed 2 people! Cant recommend this place enough! Never change Whiskey Flats! Youve achieved perfection!
