Well, to start with this place is slightly overrated on yelp. 4 1/2 stars for the quality of service and the design / comfort of the place - no way! Yes, Tammy didn’t do a good job. Sorry.My current rating goes to the quality of food only, which was on the relatively decent level. On the other hand, we had to serve ourselves the plasticwear (so called silverware) and the koits, as when the food was served we had nothing to eat it with. High chairs were stocked in the bathroom, were I couldn’t find the changing table, but a whole lot of restaurant attire storage, which seemed pretty cluttered. BTW, wait to the bathroom goes through the kitchen, where the food is cooked. The place overall does need some renovation.Food overall was well done. My native significant other picked some authentic soup and so called “Chinese burgers”, which were delicious.Would gladly give this place another try to increase the star rating with hope for improvements.

Great food! Malatang and bian bian handmade noodles. The noodles are very good. excellent texture that you can only get from handmade noodles. Vibe is very relaxed, perfect for a catch up with a friend. This is authentic though spiciness is down a notch or two from other Chinese restaurants that Ive been to - so it is good for folks with less tolerance for spicy (though Im sure they can raise the spice too if needed). Very solid preparation and quality ingredients. I would definitely go back to this place next time in Alameda!

I woke up wanting noodles for breakfast 🍜 So after dropping my parents off for eggs and toast I made my way to Wild Ginger - breakfast of champions here I come!!I ordered the spicy beef hand pulled noodles and a spicy cucumber salad. The cucumber salad is tasty and delicious. LOVE the chili oil sauce it comes in 😋 I’ll take a bottle of that to go please!!The spicy beef noodles weren’t exactly what I was expecting but the broth was on point. Flavorful and perfect for what I was in the mood for. The cut of beef however was a bit of an odd choice for this dish. I was expecting chunks of juicy melt in your mouth beef. This beef was thinly sliced (ramen style) with an odd taste to it. (Not the best cut of meat if I’m being honest)I ate it all though 😂The noodles are cooked to perfection. Thick, chewy and satisfying.Next time I’m coming in for the Malatang.

Super tasty Chinese restaurant in a bustling area in Alameda. Indoor and outdoor dining are both available, and there is street parking in the area. The restaurant had lots of delicious spicy options, and we opted for the beef noodle soup and cumin lamb noodles. Both were amazing! Would highly recommend for any noodle or spicy food lovers.

This place was great, we were so impressed by the food here. You need to get the biang biang hand pulled noodles, any meat. We ordered the spicy tingly beef and it was so tender and delicious that we ordered a second one later in the meal! And don’t sleep on the sour spicy pork dumplings, they are some of the best dumplings I’ve had in a while (we got 2 orders of these too!). The burgers were great too, tried the pork and the lamb, and the lamb is definitely superior. Absolutely order one of those. All in all I don’t think you can go wrong with any of the food here.

The servers were great and responsive. We got the pork dumplings in sauce, spicy cumin lamb noodle in soup, and liang pi. They made a great combination as the liang pi cold noodles were a refreshing balance to the more flavorful and oilier noodle soup and dumplings.

Definitely recommend trying all the foods!! There is indoor and outdoor seating. The noodles are good delicious in any dish and the dumplings are a must have. We had the spicy and tingly beef in sauce and the beef biang biang... Im going to be a regular. Staff was friend and service was fast. Try it!

Absolutely AMAZING! I got the Mixed Veggies hand-pulled noodles to go and it was the best lunch Ive had in a while! The noodles are super thick and delicious, full of flavor and not too spicy. Order was ready for pick-up within 5 minutes of ordering! Highly recommend, will definitely come again!

I used to love this place. And then they started putting less meat in their meat dishes and the vegetarian dishes are as much as the meat dishes. The value just isn’t there anymore. I’ll just stay on the peninsula and eat there.

Delicious. Spicy lamb dumplings were my favorite. So fresh and flavorful. Was given spicy cucumber salad on the house. Slight spice and full of flavor. Enjoyed the spicy and tingly beef and the spicy cumin lamb in sauce. The hand pulled noodles are delicious. The beef was super tender and amazing. Would probably try a different sauce next time. Liked the lamb sauce a little better.

I had been very excited to try this place as I’ve had excellent renditions of all the dishes served here in NYC.However everything here was nearly double the price and zero flavor. The sauce with the lamb cumin noodles was just water and oil, no spice even though I had requested extra spicy.The interior of this place is also very run downSo disappointing don’t come out of your way for it.

Malatang at the very spicy option produces a satisfying if not slightly too oily- though rich broth, which hides a nice rich flavor deep in the bowl. Nice variety of toppings though one thing of note is that I felt your selection of meat, in my instance lamb, is a bit lacking in the volume department. Could do with more at the price point. Very friendly service I was really happy with it. The dumplings are also a welcome addition, and I believe freshly made as that take a while to be brought to the table.

This restaurant is our favorite for food from Xian, China. We eat here on a nearly weekly basis. The hand-pulled noodles are especially delicious! The staff are very friendly, and even ran after us after one visit to return my wifes cane, which we had forgotten. Their food is authentic Xian food.

I ordered the spinach dumpling soup pork with hand pulled noodles. Food was absolutely delicious but very spicy. I didnt realize that I should have requested less spice. But it was definitely freshly prepared food. The owner was pleasant and helpful in answering my questions. All of the staff are very friendly. I love just about everything on the menu. This restaurant is closed on Mondays.

December 13, 2018.So, my girl brought me to this place because she has an acquired taste. If you are not use to Authentic Chinese food I dont recommend it. Nonetheless the food was great quodos to the chef the hand made noodles were Amazing. I did not read the menu and my girl order everything the food was excellent and the noodles where fresh. It appears to be a mom and pop Asian restaurant.However, my girl wanted to play basketball early in the day with me and we finished balling around 5-6 pm. We walked in the restaurant and I was wearing my Nike Jordans (fresh), Nike sweat pants and blue hoodie. She had a regular attire. A couple walked in at the same time we did but were first and the host/ cashier greeted them with a smile and sat them at a table.When it was our turn for a table she did not look as enthusiastic to attend us and barely acknowledge us. My girl brushed it off and smiled but I sure as hell did not. I believe the chef noticed attitude his wife projected in our deriction and tried to mitigate the situation by smiling and saying hi but it was a little too late. It appears as the old hag did not want to attend us. Nonetheless, while now at a table with my girl I noticed that she did not smile when attending us but did so when waiting other tables.I am not going to support a restaurant that is bias towards people. I am positive this old hag though we were going to dine and dash or something she gave off the vibe. Nonetheless, food was exquisite such a shame that I will never go back again.

This has become my new favorite restaurant in Alameda. Not only is the food very carefully cooked, but the customer service is also excellent and very kind. There are lots of places that you could go to find food, but theres very few that make you feel welcome and at peace. The owners are extremely hard workers and go to great lengths to make sure you enjoy your stay. Wild Ginger is a place where I know my food will be cooked with passion and elegance. Theres so many brilliant options on the menu that I plan to try a new one every time I go. The dumplings, variety of noodle bowls, and creativity in the sauces are definitely next level! If youre reading this, definitely go try out the place and find out for yourself. Dont waste another second looking for something else!

We had Saturday lunch there, ordered spicy numb beef pulled noodle, cumin lamb noodle, liang pi and spicy beef. The food is mediocre (I come from China. Trust me there are so many other authentic Chinese hand pulled noodles in the Bay). Maybe we didn’t order the right thing. However, me and my whole family had really bad diarrhea after the meal. I woke up at 5am Sunday morning cause of the urge to go to bathroom and Jesus it was really really bad stomach. I was all sweaty and swearing. My husband just took his 3rd dose of Pepto - it’s already Sunday afternoon. Oh don’t get me wrong, it couldn’t be anything else cause we had bad stomach and we didn’t eat much after that lunch. I went there because of all the good reviews and pictures, but I wouldn’t go again.

Highly recommend this place! Per friends’ recommendation have been wanting to check out this place for ages even way before covid. Didn’t take a lot of pictures as we did a take out due to covid restriction.The spicy and sour rice noodle (T5) and Liang Pi (L1), and Pork zha jiang noodle (H3) were my favorites. The liang Pi especially, it’s as close to the real deal as you can get from the Bay Area.Not big on Roy Jia Mo (A1/ A2). They are like sandwiches. The bun/ pancakes used were not crispy enough.

This place deserve a 3 stars review. Let me start with pros. The noodle was firm enough and the spicy was quite authentic. The beef stew was also firm enough, and yet it wasnt chewy. The dumpling was not bad. Now the cons. The page of showing noodles and dumplings doesnt have prices. It also doesnt say how many dumpling in each order. The portion of food was quite small with those prices. This was my first time trying this and its also my last.

I love the deep, rich sauce on the Zha Jiang noodles, which you can get with standard wheat noodles or their hand-pulled ones (more rustic). Ground pork, with a mildly sweet and savory bean sauce, topped with cucumbers and peanuts. Description doesnt do it justice -- go try it!

I come here at least every other month for their delicious hand pulled noodles. My partner and I love the stewed pork in sauce - that one comes non spicy but we like to add spice on the side. This place was recommended to me by one of my colleagues who is Chinese and it was absolutely phenomenal. I lived in China for 5 years and I can attest that the food was very authentic. Its northeast Chinese cuisine from the area of Xian. So if youre looking for cold noodles or authentic Xian food like the ground pork sandwich or hand pulled noodles or really delicious dumplings. This is the place to go. We drove 40 minutes to eat here and it was worth every minute.

(We ordered through DoorDash.)For 2 people, we ordered the following items and had enough for about 2 meals.- Pork Dumplings- Spinach Dumplings- Pork Zha Jiang Mian- Spicy Cumin Lamb NoodlesWhile the pork dumplings were good, I didnt feel the same way about the spinach dumplings. They were only filled with spinach and no other protein (I think). To be honest, Im not sure why people mentioned them so much.The pork zha jiang mian was good also. We really loved the soup flavor and lamb in the spicy cumin lamb noodles. However, I dont know if the noodles were cut too thick or perhaps its just the nature of hand pulled noodles, but they arrived pretty stuck together in the container. They also didnt hold up very well for our 2nd meal. Regardless, still good and the soup flavor and lamb were great.Overall though, I was expecting a spicier flavor. I dont know if I missed it while ordering or if DoorDash didnt provide a spice level option, but everything was mildly spicy - not face numbing as you would expect from a Szechuan restaurant. I have a tendency to order things a little too spicy (almost painfully spicy), so having a mild spice *did* allow for a more pleasant experience.

Super spicy soups with hand pulled noodles. I ordered a medium hot lamb soup with hand pulled noodles and found it good, but still too hot for me. I can usually handle spicy dishes fine, but this medium hot dish had me sweating from the get go. Will give this spot and second try, since I thought the flavors were good, but next time around, Im sticking with mild.

First time here, atmosphere was cozy but fairly small in size. We ordered the snack bun braised pork, sour and spicy vermicelli, ja xiang mien and their spicy beef hand pulled noodle. Overall the dishes were okay. Wish that their hand pulled noodle wasnt so thick, maybe a bit thinner then it would be more enjoyable. The broth on the sour and spicy vermicelli could be better if they added some sort of protein to it. Next visit Id choose other items on the menu to try.

Very small place seats maybe 20 maximum capacity.. The noodles is o.k. a little too thick for my taste.. Rou jia mo bread was too tough not soft the sauce was too salty. But the owners was very nice. My favorite Chinese restaurant in the bay area, amazing xian food, healthy with good ingredients and options ranging from light to heavy, very flavorful, and usually not too crowded which a lot of the good Chinese spots around can be. Definitely recommend lamb cumin noodles, liang pi, tiger salad, spinach dumplings in sauce, and malatang with giant biang noodles, and some duck necks, though everything I’ve tried has been top notch. Its rare to find a Chinese restaurant that isnt Cantonese around this area, so I was really excited to try this place. I was not disappointed! The liang pi tastes exactly how it should, though the noodles are thicker (but this is not a criticism). The rou jia also tastes amazing, though unfortunately they use English muffins for the bread. Some of the best and most authentic Sichuan food in the Bay Area. The menu isnt large, but thats a good thing because it means you cant go wrong ordering anything they have. Its all made fresh to order, and its all delicious. One caution: while nothing here is outrageously spicy, if you dont like spicy food at all, this is not the place for you. For those of us who do like spicy food--especially Sichuan-style, spicy-tingly-numbing food--theres no better place in the Bay.

Have you heard all the hype about NYCs Xian Famous Foods? Well, we have Shanxi-style food in the East Bay as well! Cold hand-torn noodles, hot hand-torn noodles in soup (lamb or stewed pork) or sauce, really good dumplings (also available in sauce or soup), stewed pork or lamb hamburgers, zha jiang, etc., its all here and its delicious. Im so happy!There are Sichuan standards here as well. They also have a separate mala tang menu, for example.The restaurant seats maybe 16, so I am sure it fills up quickly.

Food is very different from other Asian noodles. Flavors are spicy, a little numbing, salty and noodles are oh so chewy. Handmade noodles are tasty, tasty, tasty. Come and be excited. Cold noodles were my favorite.
