This is a LUNCH review.. disappointed. They wont sub 50/50fried rice chow mein even if you offer to pay for it. The fried rice was literally soy sauce and white rice. Small bit of egg. Zero vegetables,zero meat.. Ill be going elsewhere for lunch next time.

I liked the orange chicken. It wasnt too sweet and orange flavored but not a ton of citric acid. Just right. I ordered 6 items for take out and it was ready in 15 minutes. All of my food was fresh and yummy.

Good stuff! A little pricey but the portions we got were huge and worth it. Huge sized egg rolls. The shrimp fried rice was perfect. Dont believe the other reviews. It was loaded with everything fried rice should have. Foil wrapped chicken was busting at the seems! Loaded with lots of chicken. Mishu chicken was perfect. So much food we have enough for another meal. 😀

Long time family favorite restaurant. We call in to pick up wonton soup often times and take it back home for the more special occasions.The restaurant makes me nostalgic since I’ve been coming since a young girl but the atmosphere isn’t like it used to be. It’s less warm. They seem to have less people than what I remember as well. That could also just be a result of other factors.But yeah, good food.

BEWARE!!!!BEWARE!!!I have been coming here for a while now but no longer.Unfortunately today I learned THEY USE unfinished FOOD FROM PRIOR CUSTOMERS plates to reheat and SERVE TO NEW CUSTOMERS!!!. Thats right. I heard they were doing this from someone who knows of the family but didnt believe them. Today I saw it for myself and experienced it.I am american but little did they know my Chinese is good enough to understand what they were saying in the back when I asked them what happened to the rest of our food we were taking to go. It was half of what was sent to be packaged They insisted they do it in the back, now i see why. I HEARD EVERYTHING THEY SAID WHEN I CALLED THEM ON IT.Food you have not finished they take to the kitchen and if you say you want it to go they give you half of what you were supposed to take home especially if someone just ordered the same thing.Have to find a new spot now.This is disgusting and unsanitary!!

Put in a food order walked in to pick it up and saw a bunch of food sitting at the table backed up. They helped other people ahead of me and finally came back to me and said heres your food I said is it cold. It tasted all right little bit greasy. My daughter really likes this place. The food is awesome. The medium bowl of wonton soup is great for up to 3 people. I plate of chicken chow mein is also great for 4 people. The service is super friendly. I would definitely recommend this place. A hidden gem in this area of Sacramento.

First they do not participate with delivery services because of financial considerations. Second, a very cavaliere attitude about pricing when questioned about a considerable increase from menu price, simply stated that gentleman who is responsible for imput on website did not work there any longer and did not update pricing. So beware! Although referred by a very credible friend, did not find food or experience to be worthy of a out-of-the-way trip.

FAVORITE CHINESE OF ALL TIME Ive grown up going here with my family and were never disappointed. The prices are so cheap for what you get. We love the sesame chicken, chow mein, and honey walnut shrimp. You must go and once you start you wont stop!

Website and sign in the window said open until 8:30pm. Walked in at 7:55pm, and was rudely told with waiving hands that kitchen was closed and they close at 8pm. Informed their sign says 8:30pm, and was told again that it was wrong, and it is 8pm.

Food is good here. Their lunch specials are awesome for around$7.50 you get a decent amount of food that comes with soup and hot tea (dine in only). I would definitely recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for some yummy Chinese food in the Citrus Heights area.

Not much to look at, however the staff was delightful and right on our orders, water, and checking with us to ensure our experience was good. We had three different items. The orange chicken was perfect, the almond and cashew chicken was okay. It might have been my dislike of zucchini and I picked it all out. The pork fried rice was terrific.

Wonderful place to eat, all of their menu items are delicious and their portions are large as well.The staff definitely go out of their way to make a great experience.We have dined in and ordered take-out. Our food has always been hot fresh and on takeout orders they are ready quickly. I have been coming here with my family for years and will definitely continue to do so!

Im not the biggest fan of Chinese but my husbands family is.There local and close to the house and has been around for awhile.The menu has all the classics.I do wish they had more vegan/vegetarian items. I think it could make them a bigger hit than they already are with the neighborhood.They did make a sweet and sour tofu dish.Definitely will have again.

I would say this place is getting ready to shut down. Not one person was in dining at 6.30pm on a Sunday night that tell a lot right there. The portion size is great the egg rolls were good foil wrapped chicken was all right. The chow main the top have of the carton was good the bottom was old and soggy. The fried rice was bad, no egg in it No carrots and not fried well at all. Very pricey also. Oh and they dont give change, I should of gotten some coins back all the lady said was thank you and kept it as a tip. It was a to go order. Not going back

I had the Mongolian beef, rice and spring roll. Mongolian very bland, meat was not tasty. Rice was a little dry, spring roll, ehhh.My wife had orange chicken, bland again.Overall, we just ate to eat and was not enjoyable at all.We ran out of there feeling super bummed.This is my first time eating here and I have eaten at many Chinese restaurants and this one is at the bottom.If you have no taste buds and youre starving, go here...Sorry about the review, but its the sheer truth. Wonderful Chinese is as the restaurants name implies, wonderful. I was confident the meal I was about to take to my aunts for dinner was going to be good when after waiting 45 minutes I finally received my order. The amount of people I watched walking in and out of this business suggested just that, great Chinese cuisine. And its a good thing it was great. Between the people who are counting on me to bring dinner on time, and my stomach growling like a lion, it was my hope the food would be worth the wait. The Broccoli & Beef tasted great. The broccoli was cooked but still crisp, and the beef was tender, not stringy and chewy. The rice was flavorful and did not leave you wondering if you consumed the box it came in. The entire meal was very good right down to the fortune cookies, which were as fresh as one could expect from a cookie containing a 10,000 year old prophesy. The cost of the meal was somewhat more than I expected. I am having a difficult time understanding how prices have exploded over such a short time. My head seems to be hanging out in the 90s right up to where Im handed the bill and Im rocked right into 2021. Overall, Wonderful Chinese was a good experience and I would recommend this business to anyone desiring a Wonderful Chinese meal.

This restaurant has been around for over 40 years and Ive been going there since I was a child with my parents. The value is very good the food is very good the services very fast its always served the crispy and hot the quality is always been there. They do not doordash or deliver so you got to go in and experience it for yourself and when you do you realize that its a large senior community that goes in because they know the food is good and the prices are excellent. Ive had everything on their menu and its been a pleasure to explore their menu. Ive eaten there over 1,000 times in the last 40 years and I still love going to this place. I take my family and friends there often and we always know were going to get a Greek meal.

Just left had the lunch special. I am writing this in the car. I am grossed OUT! Wonderful has been my family’s favorite because the food is good. However, things have changed. Food is still good but what happened to fried rice? Just soy sauce on rice! No pork bits or anything! The staff is efficient but dirty. My waitress had bus cart throwing dirty table plates etc. had sauce on her hands etc and then left tub to take my order with that on her hands. See took another man’s order also and got him a coke. Greasy, multiple dishes tasted as if they failed to clean the cooking pans/dishes used before switching to make new dishes, and worse of all happened to 2 different people in my party (20 minutes after starting to eat) they had to rush to bathroom because they had diarrhea.Furthermore, here are examples for why I will never go back to Wonderfuls again: the (1) beef and broccoli (savory) tasted as the if it were made with the walnut shrimp (sweet dish) dish pans; the (2) sweet and sour chicken was hard, dry, and lacking in a palatable flavored sauce (bottled from your local supermarket tastes better than the sauce that was offered; the (3) fried rice had so much oil/grease that I am still burping it up hours later; (4) the cost to feed 7 people (5 adults and 2 children) cost with tip was $134+ (which is astronomical when I could go to Panda Express for half the cost with a tip included into the amount also). Lastly, the (5) atmosphere and food are not what they uses to be in yesteryear (you can tell they have cut corners for materials/food to get by but at twice the cost the food you are being charged for). So, if you are questioning whether or not you should go to Wonderful, I suggest that you dont and buy a higher quality and cheaper food at your local Panda Expresss instead. You will have superior tasting and reasonable priced meal than you will find here at Wonderfuls (7042 Sylvan Rd, Citrus Heights, CA 95610) location.

I was in the area and remembered eating here 20ish years ago and liking it so my husband and I came here to eat. Its so great to be able to dine in for Chinese food where its cool and clean and they serve hot tea and soup while you await your food!The service here is spectacular. Everyone is so friendly and they somehow manage to take your order and produce your food in less than 10 minutes.The food is also fresh with great flavoring and lots of sauce. My sesame chicken was SO crispy and I was impressed that it was made from all white meat chicken that was perfectly cooked. My husbands spicy shrimp was sweet and spicy and very good. The vegetables were fresh. The wonton soup and egg rolls were the best Ive ever eaten. Whatever they season the meat inside the wontons with is spectacular. We ordered two containers to go for friends and they got devoured.Wonderful Chinese Restaurant is true to its name! Highly recommend especially if dining in.

If I could leave a negative ten for the “service” there, I would. My husband and I walked in to this restaurant over an HOUR before they closed, and were refused for dine in because they closed in 70 minutes. I don’t know about you, but I’ve worked in restaurants many times, and we never closed seating 70 minutes before close. There’s another restaurant on Sunrise we will now be taking our business to.

Wonderful Chinese has been my family favorite my whole life, I get disappointed at other Chinese restaurants as they have set the bar so high. Pot stickers with hot oil and vinegar is my favorite from here. The atmosphere is amazing. I love all the workers and they love to see my kids grow as they have watched me grow as a child. They found out my dad passed and gave me his favorite meal to bury with him, as well as gave us stuff for his reception. So not only is the food to die for, they are family orientated.

Ordered two vegetable dishes. One was Chinese cabbage with mushrooms, the other Veggie delight. Well, the sauce was the same and the veggie delight had lots of Chinese cabbage. They could have told me. They are still using straws… A friend joined me and they never brought back the menu. He ordered sweet and sour chicken and was very disappointed - very oily. They don’t have a brown rice option. They don’t have tofu on the menu. They never checked if we needed anything. Soy sauce was the salty kind only. My granddaughter wanted a dessert, but they do not serve any. The check was not itemized - just the total. Maybe current clientele is fine with all that but I won’t be back.

We sat in for lunch which is a rare thing now. Food isnt as good as it used to be. Dont get me wrong it tasted good just not the same quality it was in prior years. All was well until I looked up at the lights. If youre queasy about bugs I highly suggest not looking at the light fixtures. Have some respect for yourself- dont eat here. Dirty restaurant with poor service and unjustifiably high prices. The owners are also very sneaky.I went for dinner with 2 friends and they basically scammed us. 3 orders of orange chicken ($13 each), 1 order of cream cheese wontons ($11) should have added up to $49. These were the only items we ordered. The bill comes and it reads $61.20. We ask the owner why it was so high and they tell us the bowl of rice they brought out was $6 extra. We were not informed that there would be an additional charge for rice. Upon calculating the sum again accounting for the rice and tax we found that an additional dollar was added to the total, which the owner agreed to take off the bill. Whether this was done in error or intentionally is uncertain, but based on the their sneaky behavior Im tending towards the first option.We asked the owner why the complimentary soup, egg rolls, and rice were not included with our meal. They told us for an additional 2 dollars per order, we could have had the dinner package which includes these things. By them forcing the rice bowl on us at $6 we already paid for the dinner package anyway, so its obvious they didnt want to bring out the other items that should have been included.

Delicious food and very generous portions. We live getting lunch here because for about 8 dollars I can have lunch and leftovers for dinner. I live in NJ, but have family in Sacramento. I have been to this restaurant 3 times in the last 14 years. The first time we went was 2003, the second 2015 and again last week. All the times, the food was very good, the service excellent and they accommodated a large party of over 15. They have a family style menu that works very well with big groups and they will accommodate allergies and small changes to the standard menu. Highly recommended!

The egg rolls were actually spring rolls and were pretty good. The watery sauce of the sesame chicken leaked out the styrofoam clam-shell container and made a huge mess in the bag. The pork fried rice had shrimp in it and was thrown out because I’m allergic to shrimp. Guess that was on me for not checking it but their attention to detail is lacking. The sesame chicken was okay but the outer breading was super soggy and fell off with a touch. The beef in the broccoli beef had an off taste and there was no flavoring in the chicken chow mein. They are also cash only which is okay for the best food, but no way should this place be cash only, not worth the trip to the atm. I wish I would have gotten Panda Express.

The food is good, the time to prepare the food is quick and the location is clean. The issue with this place is that they over charge you. We have ordered here on multiple occasions and we have added the cost up at home but when we get to the restaurant the total is at least $10 more. So either the prices on the menu are incorrect or they are calculating the tax incorrectly. Beware and make sure the total they tell you is correct.

Great food the reason Im giving him 3 stars is because they are not consistent with their hours. Website and doors as they close at 9 PM. At 7 45 we we t for dinner and they wouldnt serve us. We have been looking around for a good place to have Chinese food for sometime and was recently told to check this place out. I am so glad we did. This has got to be the best food I have ever had. I don’t normally eat left over Chinese food food but this was so good I am. I had orange chicken and the sauce was so thick and delicious, like nothing I’ve had before. Wonton soup was flavorful. Everything was hot and stayed hot till we were done which for me is a sign that nothing on my plate was microwaved. To top it off, the staff was so polite and friendly. I will definitely be coming back.

Speaking on my last two experiences. Over charged, grease food and long wait times.This past weekend was my last time ordering from the restaurant. We were charged $45 for 4 dishes which were beef and broccoli, orange chicken, chicken fried rice and chicken chow mein. Usually prices are $9 a dish but I guess this weekend special was $11. Ive been going to this place since I was in middle school. This establishment use to be a fantastic place with good service and great food, now its just a sad image of what I remembered it as. My wife, our children, and I met up with a lifelong friend and the service was just terrible. We asked for a booster seat for our 3 year old son and a highchair for our 1 year old daughter. They brought out a booster seat for our son as asked but completely ignored my request for a seat for my daughter. The entire time sitting there for an hour or so we had to feed our daughter sitting on our laps directly in the center of the establishment. The food came out and was actually very good as always. At one point the service woman came over to refill our water and she literally overfilled my wifes cup and spilled onto the table and some on the plate of food and all the woman said was oops, sorry. Then she left to answer a phone call for the store leaving the spilled water on the food and table and she never came back to our table after that, they changed her to another table and had the cashier bring us our fortune cookies and then the bill.

Our server Debbie was very nice. Several regulars came in and recieved a very welcoming wave and hello from several of the staff. Food is prepared the same thats why go for a meal. The staff is consistent some of them have been working there for 20+ years. My favorite dish is the sesame chicken so try it out.

This place is a family favorite. The women who work in the front are not the friendliest but the food is worth it. If you go during lunch its about $6.50 for the lunch plate of your choice. If you sit down and eat they typically give you more food vs take out.

We have supported this restaurant since 1985. The food has always been fantastic, even when we take out of town guests for Wonderful Chinese. It has been our go to restaurant and we are glad it is open for take out now.

Food was cold. Wonton soup onoy had one wonton in the entire cup. When asked for utensils was given dirty look and she told me there was soy sause already in bag but when I got home there was only one soy sauce for everything I purchased.

Ive been coming here since I was nearly 10 years old because the food is amazing, but the past THREE times ive been comming here ive been being charged 10-15$ more then what it should be. When I bring this concern to the staff I get a attatude back. Granded the do fix the issue but not the way i remember. debateing on finding a new place, its a shame cause I really do love this place

I purchased some food to go and requested house hot mustard. however they were too lazy to go fill a ramekin with house mustard and told me that they would not give it to me. Extremely disappointed with the service they offer. Never again will I go to this location

My first time and the food was terrible. The General chicken tasted like boiled chunks with sauce poured all over and the fried rice taste like it was made in a rice cooker with soy sauce scooped like ice cream and was very sticky. Very disappointing.

Wonderful Chinese is of all the Chinese places Ive tried in this area which I think Ive tried them all the best. Hot and sour soup is delicious the po po platter excellent Mushu all very good. The staff always makes me feel welcome and they take great care of you.
