This place is really busy which is a good sign = good food. We had the seafood, pancake & beef bone soup with brisket and all the Korean condiments with hot tea. Our waiter torched the cheese on top of the bone soup at the table... impressive. Food was great. Plenty for three people and the service was good.

Had lunch at Woomiok today and was blown away by their authentic Korean flavors. Their hearty soups warmed the soul. Sooooo many delicious (free refill) side dishes too. We ordered two soups and the short ribs with melted cheese. Gyoza was amazing too. Highly recommend for anyone seeking an authentic Korean experience.

Great food. Had authentic Korean food for the first time in my life. It did live up to my expectations. Started with five different kinds of kimchi (all of which were quite tasty) followed by La Galbi (a barbecued beef ribs dish) and a spicy Octopus dish. Both were served on hot stone bowl. I liked the octopus more than the bbq ribs. Also, given it was a Sunday, there was a little bit of waiting to get a table.

Fantastic restaurant. Great food and great service.They use great high quality ingredients and really cook their beef soup for a long time. You can really taste the deep beef bone flavor and it is revitalizing for your body. You will feel full of energy after eating here. The soups are great if you are feeling a bit sick or tired and need an energy shot.The kalbiJjim is also fantastic and juicy from what I could tell. Lots of people were ordering that.The bibbimbbap is fantastic. Especially the mushroom one I had the first time I went here.The kimchi is fresh and so it has a light flavor that is easy to eat and pairs well nicely with this kind of food.

I dont know if its because my group ate here after a long day but this was definitely one of the best Korean food that Ive ever had!!!We didnt wait long for a table - we were seated quickly, placed our order, and the food came out extremely quickly. We got the Woomiok special combo which came with a seafood pancake, spicy braised short rib in a stone pot, and got to pick a soup and dish (spicy cold noodles) for $120. Everything was delicious, but my favorite was the spicy braised short rib and the spicy cold noodles. The banchan was also delicious, and we were able to get refills.Theres plenty of parking in the lot. The tables have a service button so you can press it and notify the staff that you need something. 10/10 would recommend!

If the feeling of being curled up under a cozy fuzzy blanket on the couch while its raining outside was turned magically into a dish.. it would be number 6: beef bone soup with brisket, ox knee, cheek meat and shank. Comfy, warm, just hits the right spot. Familiar, yet elevated. Salt provided so you have control over flavor intensity, bone broth at the right consistency. Selection of meats melt in your mouth as you eat them. Surround that with some savory and tangy banchan and you have a hearty meal that gets your ready for a nap immediately after. Service was prompt, space was clean, parking is easy. Definitely a place worth coming back to.

The inside area had no AC on a warm day so we opted to sit outside. Minutes later a staff of 4 people started eating a mole looking dish next to us. It was shocking that they didn’t provide a break area for their staff. They took a while to get our orders, but the service was good after that, when the food finally came it made everything ok. The food was delicious. For $30 per dish I was expecting a better ambiance.

Nice Korean restaurant specializing Korean “Tang (soup)” dishes in San Diego. Very clean interior atmosphere and there are outdoor dining as well. I’ve had few of their soups and they were all good (meat portions on low side). Side dishes are delicious. Price have increased a bit from older menus listed here so be aware. Definitely dine in for these dishes since they are not a takeout friendly dishes. Overall, must try Korean restaurant in San Diego!Updates 3/2023: They have updated & raised prices on each dishes again. Less variety to choose from and service has been on the decline. Overall good Korean restaurant specializing Korean “Tang (soup)” dishes in San Diego.2/3/22 I ordered cabbage beef ribs soup (우거지갈비탕) for takeout and had first disappointing soup. Its broth tasted watery and I hope this is one off as this is my go to Korean restaurant in San Diego.2/28/22 I had spicy cold noodle and beef short ribs combo. The sauce and noodle were so-so. (BTW I’m still looking for good cold noodle in SD). The short ribs were good though. It was meatier than other restaurant.12/12/22. The takeouts have been insistent. 🙁

We got the bossam -braised pork belly with oysters. The portion was big enough for 4 people! The pork belly was super tender, but the kimchi could be better.We also got the beef bone soup with brisket, ox tail and shank: this was so amazing!! You can salt it to taste and add green onions. This place is the top 3 Korean spots that I have tried so far. My friend and I heard a lot of good things about it and finally we came here to try it out. Firstly, here’s complimentary side dishes are impressive, so many authentic Korean banchan. I love their home made kimchi, radish and eustoma. We ordered a beef soup and a seafood pancake, both are delicious!!! The seafood pancake has full of big pieces of seafoods. I love it. We will come back here to try out the big pot dishes!!!

We went to Woomiok on a whim for trying new Korean spots on the Convoy. Got seated pretty quick which was crazy considering it was dinner rush and also a lot of groups waiting outside. But I think since they were large groups 5+ they had to wait for the 2 person tables to finish so they could be moved together.Our server was chill, didnt get his name but he was tall and had a deep voice. Also very respectful; he was worried we ordered too much food! Which we did, I got the bibimbap (bulgogi) and the seafood pancake. My best friend ordered the braised beef in stone pot and the panko coated pot stickers. With the addition of some sochu and the banchan we did have a literal feast. Worth it though. Everything was very hot (actually more like extremely because those stone pots were still kinda toasty even as we were packing out togo boxes), fresh and delicious and we gladly took the leftovers home for lunch the next day (or two in my case the seafood pancake is giant).They must make their kimchi in-house because it is extremely fresh and also very spicy. Most other places I have been to have a duller in spice, higher in pickling flavor kimchi and I approve! Their fishcake was paper thin which weirded me out as Im more use to the thick pieces but it was still tasty.The squid was a new banchan to me and I loved it.I would gladly eat here again, that Ox tail soup has my name on it.

Food was great! The bulgogi dish was very good. When they say spicy, they really do mean spicy, though, so be careful with your choices. All the meals also come with different sides of kimchis, cold noodles, tofu, etc, and its all very good. Fried dumplings were delicious.

Truly great quality food here. If you havent enjoyed Korean food before, know its quite different than Japanese or Chinese food. A great adventure. Service is friendly, and they can help you pick your choices. Seating is casual, and they atmosphere can be a bit noisy. Definitely try this very worthy restaurant.

I got the Sul Lung Tang, which is a Beef Bone Soup with Brisket (#5 on the menu). It comes with rice noodles and seasoning... and of course, some white rice with their housemade kimchi and banchan!!I definitely recommend the Beef Bone Soup with Brisket! I loved how marbled the beef was and it paired so well with the milky and hearty bone broth!Surprisingly wasnt too busy! About a 10 minute wait at 1:30 PM on a holiday Sunday (Fathers Day & Juneteenth). They have a good amount of indoor dining and a couple tables outside too. Great for your dogs!

The bulgogi bibimbap was really good. The ingredients were fresh and came in a hot stone bowl. On the other hand, the beef stew we ordered was very very bland and did not come with as much meet as it looked on the menu. It almost tasted like boiling water instead of a soup. Is this how it’s supposed to be? If so, $16 for something unflavorful is really expensive! Besides this, the side dishes were really good. Would probably come back but not order their beef stew.

Genuinely disappointed, so so disappointed. Right direction, terrible execution.First, the bonchons were so bland. They rubbed chili paste over napa cabbage and huge chunks of daikon and called it a day, they weren’t pickled at all and had really little taste. The daikon were huge cubes too, and the fact that they weren’t pickled just made it taste like you were chewing through the skin of a watermelon. Fish cake was alright but it’s always alright because it’s premade.Second, the main dishes we ordered were the beef bone broth, the cold noodles, and the steamed pork belly. The bone broth was decent, flavor was there but the soup was so so chalky because the rice noodles were so overcooked and had started dissolving. The broth of the cold noodles, which I was really looking forward to, tasted pretty good! The glass noodles themselves however were not made very well. When it came out it was a solid block, couldn’t even pry them apart with chopsticks. The steamed pork was ok, very under seasoned and the lettuce provided for a ssam were kind of too small for what they’re intended for.Minor things: rice was very mushy, gochujang tasted off like it’s been sitting out for too long, the hot foods were barely lukewarm/boarder line cold, and I’m going to come back to this, bonchons were seriously not good.Just very sad, I had heard good things about this place and was overall disappointed, thinking I was going to get good Korean food. Maybe the other dishes are better and we came on an off day.

I think their beef brone brisket soup is the best one to get. Their other dishes dont really stand out. Giving it 4 because I think the soup comes out too hot and they mess up takeout orders frequently. You cant even eat it for a while that makes no sense to me. And the scallions are always soggy. I still like this place for the brisket soup.

Its a modern atmosphere. Very clean. Barley tea is served with the meal but you need to ask for water. Theres only a handful of dishes to choose from but theyre pretty good. Expect to pay between $15 - $17 per dish. The meals come with a few sides. Service was good.

Forget 5 stars, if I could give this place 10/10 I would!First off, service here is A1! Greets you, then either lets you know if they have a spot ready or getting one ready for you. Very accommodating, they treat you like they want you there! We didn’t feel rushed, we were more compelled to stay longer if anything but we only have one stomach. 😅 waiters and waitresses checked on us multiple times. I could go on forever lol trust me, service here is great!Second, the meat selection is small but it’s all you need! Nothing too fancy, just straight to the point. We love it. The three different sauces were amazing. The side dishes were also on point.Third, the vibe and atmosphere felt homey. It may not be the “prettiest” as one would say, but nothing can beat that homey feeling. Add the amazing service to it, delicious AYCE KBBQ and it’s a wrap! Take my money!! Oh and also, the price is definitely affordable. $25 a person, can’t beat that!Last but definitely not least, please go enjoy yourself and support this place! Highly recommended. I could eat here all the time. Been to three others all you can eat KBBQ and none of em beats Woomiok! Undefeated! This will be our go to spot for KBBQ. Went with a group of friends. A few small mishaps including long time to get water/barley tea and the waiter spilled seafood pancake sauce on my friend. Besides that food was solid. Finally a decent spicy galbi jjim in San Diego. Galbi Tang was also very flavorful and had a good amount of meat. Not a lot of side dishes but there is free rice!

We felt strongly to write a review after our visit today to this establishment where we have been to before. The front of the house lady was not pleasant at all and it was clear that it was to everyone as we noticed after eating our food. The greeting was not existent, even when asking for water etc made felt not welcome. This is not towards the other staff members as they were nice. We get hospitality industry is not easy and/for everyone as you constantly deal with public but noticed this twice with the same person.

The wait time was a lot which is understandable for a Saturday evening, but when they said our table is ready they proceeded to seat other people before getting us several times. The sides (or appetizers) were so little. YD Tofu House in Sacramento costs $50 less for WAY more sides and better quality. The wait time for the food was way too long as well. Please- if you’re looking for your 1st Korean food experience don’t go here.

I dont think my neighbor tables were served well, too. But given the price (~$70 for 2) and the volume (~20minutes waiting time for us), the restaurant should be earning more than enough to properly compensate the staff and offer proper services.

You can taste Korean food. Seolleongtang is the main menu. There are also kinds of bulgogi rice bowls. The side dishes are also plenty. There is Japchae. It is a neat store. The price is not expensive. It is a good soup restaurant when you want to eat Korean food.

The main issue though:A person in our party comes from a traditional korean family and he found the side dishes to be very low quality. Especially the kimchi and japchae.We got bulgogi rice, tofu rice and oxtail soup #4.It was a lot better than the side dishes but for over $20 each, we wouldnt consider it worth it. Solid Korean kuisine in Convoy area. Its a little bit apart from the main area, but that shouldnt prevent anyone from going at all. Parking didnt give me an aneurysm like most places and the wait was minimal. Granted we went on a Thursday night, but it was still refreshing to not deal with those things. The good was excellent and the small plates of kimchi, fish cake, etc. were great too. Pricing was not extreme ($10-$15) for what we got and service was reasonably quick. One thing was that they dragged their feet in refilling water or other things which brought it down a half star. Bottled beer ($8) and other beverages were slightly overpriced knocking off another half star. Korea isnt known for good beer, so I think its fair to sell it for what it is - mediocre beer. Anyway, overall positive experience.

I had my dog with me so we dined outside, and the service was a bit lacking but BOY did the food make up for it! Woomiok is super generous with their banchan and I had the beef short rib soup. The soup was absolutely delicious and very filling. The broth was clear and flavorful, and the meat was so tender it basically melted in your mouth. My dog got a couple of pieces and he was a happy boy, too. Perfect for the slightly chilly day that I was having it. Will definitely return and hope for a more attentive dining experience indoors next time!

Ordered the LA Galbi and LA Galbi / Naeng Myun combo. For the price, $34.99 for combo and $29.99 not including tax ($70+), the quality of the short-ribs and banchan (side dishes) were sub-par. Most of the beef was fat and bones. Would not recommend getting this dish. Service was not very attentive.

It was really good. I ate beef bone soup with brisket and it was just same as Sullungtang(설렁탕) in Korea. It was so happy that I could eat this in America. It was worth to pay for it. Woomoik reminds me of home cooked Korean comfort food for brisk fall evenings. I got the Beef Bone Broth Soup with Brisket. There was a decent portion of meat (six or more slices) for the price ($13). Don’t forget to flavor the soup with the salt provided!! That’s how it’s supposed to be eaten, for those who are not familiar with this soup (aka seolleongtang).I would have liked the broth to be a bit milky-er but the soup overall was still delicious and heartwarming.Banchan (side dishes) were decent (kimchi, pickled radish, fish cakes, and some others). But I loved that they served japchae (Korean glass noodles) which isn’t commonly served as banchan at other places.They provided outdoor distanced seating and regularly cleaned the dining areas. My friend and I got the bulgogi on rice. It came with banchan ( kimchi, radish kimchi, japchae etc...) And soup. The bulgogi was perfectly delicious, not too sweet, very well seasoned and the stone bowl kept the food wonderfully hot throughout the meal. The staff was very nice and accommodating. The menu is simple and approachable, in both English and Korean. I will definitely be going back. Give it a try if youre in the Clairemont/Kearny Mesa area.

The service was great and the appetizers were also amazing! My friend really enjoyed his meal, although I can’t say the same about my own. I had the oxtail soup, which was lacking flavor. The meat was pretty good, but I think with a little more flavor, this could be really good. I feel like I overpaid for the oxtail soup since it was really expensive. Of all the seolleongtang Ive had in SoCal, Woomioks is only 2nd to Han Bat in Koreatown, LA. If youv ever had Han Bat, you know thats saying a lot! The service, cleanliness, and food were all amazing! If it has one thing over Han Bat its the greater number of menu options beyond just seolleongtang.If youre new to eating seolleongtang, a few tips:1. The best galbi Ive had in a long time. They had some outdoor seating and were able to seat us there immediately, so if theres a bunch of people waiting to be seated you might be able to skip the line by asking to sit outside. When you dive in to Korean cuisine, you may notice there are speciality houses that focus on beef bone broths. Woomiok is a restaurant that does beef broths really well. I can recommend any of their soups depending on your mood. If it’s milky in color, you should add salt and pepper to bring out the bone flavors. If it’s spicy version, dive right in. I regularly eat here, but it was my first time trying the tofu and rice stone pot recently, and it hit the spot! Highly recommend it when you dont feel like meat. It comes already laced with sauce (soy sauce based), so all I had to do was just gently stir/mix all the ingredients in the sizzling, smoking stone pot. Smelled great and tasted even better. I came here after browsing through Google and Yelp for good food on Convoy St (so I’ve heard), which happens to have a lot of Korean businesses. In short, I am so glad I came here that I can leave SD without regret when it comes to food. Now, granted the closest I’ve came to authentic was a layover in Incheon airport where I sat down at a restaurant, I still have eaten a lot of Korean food in the US, being it is my second favorite cuisine of all time.And so, I am going to say that this place is 100% awesome! I came after reading this gem has little to no wait time. Sure enough, I was seated right away, and got my food fast after that. Very friendly service. And I got a lot more food than I expected for the price, given is this California, and I paid more for way less food at the American restaurants. I’ll stop teasing; getting to what matters most, the taste? Delightful. It’s like really good home cooking and belongs in the top ones I’ve tasted. Come try it for yourself! I was expecting the rice on the hot stone to burn and create a bit of crispy rice, but they stay soft. What VERY DELICIOUS is their Spicy braised short rib in stone pot (#11 on the menu). I asked them to cook it in mild instead of spicy and they accommodated my request. This dish comes with short ribs, potato, carrots and rice cake. Probably my favorite Korean restaurant in San Diego right now. Has a great mix of good comfort food (the beef bone soups, stews), and crowd pleasers like the fried pork cutlet, breaded fried potstickers, and huge pots of galbi drowning in spicy (but not too spicy) sauce and cheese. The banchan has always been great too, crisp flavorful kimchis, fish cakes, and squid. Service is friendly and efficient. Definitely in our regular rotation.
