2022-06-28 21:52:10Confused, was looking for korean restraunt and there was lots of pics and reviews of Korean food. They had two things on the menu, korean short ribs and bugolgie beef. Both great but no kimchi or bimbop. Find out new owners, new menu. Needs to be relisted. Good food just not much korean anymore.

2021-10-16 22:12:46I visited here with my sister with high hopes. We heard great feedback on the internet about Yama San and couldnβt wait to try their food. The ambiance was lovely and the tea we ordered was good, but thatβs where our compliments end. The calamari we got was disappointing. It looked amazing, but the flavors didnβt match the exterior. The breading drowned the calamari, the calamari when you finally got to it was tough. It was like eating rubber and was unlike any calamari I have ever eaten. The citron roll we got was dowsed in ponzu. It was the only thing you could taste on the roll. The second roll we got was the tiger roll. That roll was good. Just good, there was nothing spectacular about the roll to make it worth $15. Then the last roll we got was the baked scallop roll. Honestly that roll was a mess. It was just too much. You might as well have brought out a fork because it was just a mound of creaminess and scallops. You could barely taste anything besides the cream cheese it was a big let down. Sometimes this could all be redeemed by good service, but I could count the amount of times our server came over to check on us using only three of my fingers. The restaurant looked deserted, itβs not like she was jam packed helping other customers. Then at the end when we where paying she then let us know that their cash register wasnβt working and we would have to pay with card. What if we didnβt have our card? These are issues that should have been troubleshooted earlier. So we could have known how we were supposed to pay before we even sat down. This whole experience was utterly disappointing and a waste of time and stomach space.

2021-10-22 00:38:14Very nice people! I had the kalbi BBQ ribs (Korean style), and it very good, although it would be nice if they had kimchi (and yes, its mostly a sushi restaurant). However, the meat was marinated in a classic sauce that had too much vinegar, so the taste was not quite what it should be. Thats an easy adjustment to make, and I look forward to be a regular customer.

2021-03-21 01:43:58New management. Very friendly, good food, but they no longer offer sides with the main dishes any more. This was my favorite Korean style restaurant. Now itβs more of a Japanese Sushi place. looking for another Korean BBQ to get my kimchi, pickled turnip, etc, fix. It was the sides that put this restaurant above the others. Hopefully they will consider bringing the sides back.

2022-04-17 02:18:17This restaurant in just down from a family members place, so we thought we could give it a try. The first time we went it was pretty good. Enough so that we chose to try it again a few months later. Our last experience (in early April) was a bit of a fail all-around. Once we were finally greeted by our server, we ordered several items straight out of the gate. First the garlic edamame as an appetizer, along with miso soup. The miso soup showed up in about 5 minutes, along with a few sushi dishes we ordered about 10 minutes later. It was a bit of a chore for the staff to keep our water glasses full. Funny enough, I had asked for a carafe or an extra glass from the start but our server instead asked if I wanted a straw? I think she missed the point that I was trying to make her job easier, but I digress. As soon as our food came. these fruit flies came out of nowhere. I saw them in the restroom but didnt think much of it. Now those same bugs were buzzing around, landing on our food. When I said something to one of the young ladies, she simply replied yeah they came early this year, normally they dont show up until summer. It must be the weather. Like really? Your a restaurant in California, not Costa Rica. There are easy ways to avoid bugs taking over your inside eating establishments.About 30 minutes after sitting down we were wrapping things up. All of a sudden the gentleman that works the front dropped off our garlic edamame. Now by this time we wrote it off and figured the server simply forgot to order them. A few minutes later our actual server finally stops back by to check in on us. She asked if we were good. I gestured to the edamame and said we actually ordered these as an appetizer, not a dessert. She simply replied yeah, I think the kitchen was back up. Not do you till want them? or our bad, its on us. Anything besides passing the buck in true millennial fashion.Based on this experience it will be our last. Its really unfortunate a local restaurant in such a tight nit community would be so disconnected from decent customer service. If you dont love your job, do something else. For a $50 tab most expect better than this, we definitely do. Save your time, your money, and your patience. I am giving 2 stars because the food is actually good. But whats that worth if the ambiance and service is off, and youre sharing your meal with the uninvited guests of the flying type.

2018-10-17 21:08:14Although this place isnt your traditional Japanese only sushi joint, but its absolutely fantastic. If you like a place that has a revolving set of specials, this is the place for you. If you want a place that has good deals on beer during the week, this place is for you. The staff is mostly very friendly, but they can get pretty stressed out if the place gets too busy. One time they missed something, they apologized profusely then comped another item on the menu.Again, not the most tradition sushi place around, but its my favorite place to go with the spouse.

2021-02-07 19:01:39New ownership in place, they are working hard to get to more customers. The menu has changed so you are better off calling them till they update the website. The staff are very courteous and eager to help you. The sushi rolls are top notch with fresh fish & flavor packed options! An area for potential improvement - I ordered the Chicken Katsu curry, which I felt a bit underwhelming. I suspect they tweaked it assuming local tastes but I would recommend they stick to the currier version which is paler and less sweeter than the current one. The chicken itself was brilliant & with some Sriracha mixed into the Katsu curry they gave, tasted delightful! The miso soup is spot on & so is the side of rice. Additional recommendation to the kitchen: I would possibly lose the chopped green on the side, it was too raw as a veggie...may be a toss up with ponzu or rice vinegar + sugar, would have given a zing! Thanks Yama-san team. Wish you well!!

2021-11-04 03:39:50Not sure what happened with this placeβ¦ Two rolls ordered on Door Dash, and both of them tasted waaaayyyy too fishy. The Halo Roll and the Citron Roll β one is tuna and one is salmon β both VERY fishy, definitely not fresh. The other food was goodβ¦ Tempura platter and Gyoza. Called to inquire, and the voice mail picked up to say they were closed on Christmas Day. Hmmm, itβs November 2nd. They havenβt updated their after hours greeting for 10 months β that might be a clue.

2018-12-18 15:18:28Great little hidden gem of a place! Its tucked into a small business Park surrounded by neighborhoods. Wasnt very busy when we went on a Sunday evening, and the service and staff were very friendly and helpful. The portions are good size and the menu options were good. Will definitely try this place again.
