Yamaha Japanese Restaurant and Sushi Bar in Northridge

I have been ordering and/or coming to Yamaha since the start of 2020. I believed then, and still believe now, that they make THE best baked sushi salmon rolls. I have tried other sushi places (many, to be exact), and we always come back to Yamaha. The place itself is not the over-the-top-picture-ready place, BUT the service is great and the place is well kept. This is a family owned restaurant from what it seems, and they work diligently every time we come. Anybody who is looking for great food, and a nice experience, please give this place a try. I am sure you will not regret it.

Good overall experience. Tried the 2 & 3 combination (Chicken Teriyaki) and the 911 roll. Chicken Teriyaki was okay, but the roll was very good. This is definitely a roll only place...VERY GOOD

Food here was super good. Dont let the outside turn you away. Such a nice place on the inside and the food is well worth it. The prices are affordable for what you get and we will definitely come back if in the area. I was impressed by how fast everything came out and how good everything tasted.

This has become mine and my friends favorite lunch spot. So much so that the waitress and owners know our order. The fish is always fresh and it never disappoints! Ive brought my family as well and they all love it.

The quality of the the sushi here has very much gone downhill over time. Over the past several years whenever I would order sushi I knew it wouldnt be mind-blowingly fresh or high quality, but at least I could be fairly confident it would be edible. With the last few orders over the past 6 months this confidence has been shaken culminating with the sushi I received yesterday of which half of it was barely edible and certainly not enjoyable and the tuna specifically was inedible. The tuna was extremely fishy smelling and tasting and rough to bite through and chew. I had to spit it out since I was not confident I would not get sick. The rice of all of the sushi was dry and hard and did not seem to be seasoned at all, but maybe all of the seasoning had simply had all day to evaporate.Many of the specialty roles have either cooked ingredients or are completely covered in sauce you cant really tell the quality of the fish. I would stick with these if you eat here.The Chinese Food dishes like fried rice, orange chicken, etc. are all Panda Express quality so you should be safe ordering those and they have not changed much over the past few years.I understand business costs and inflation are making it difficult to maintain a bottom line, but please either use lower quality fish or try to sell it for longer outside of its period of freshness OR increase your prices. Please do not do both.

Definitely one of the best Japanese restaurants I’ve ever been to. I highly recommend this place!First of all, this place is affordable - we were able to have a full course meal with drinks for around $20. The lady who was serving us was very helpful - she comes back to us every once in a while to check in how we’re doing.Tip: If you want to have a nice meal but don’t know what to get, go ahead and order a Combo #3 and choose 3 different food items from the available selection. The meal includes a Miso Soup and a Salad so you’ll definitely be full by the time you’re finished.Bring your friends and your family! You’ll regret not doing so!
