Best sushi restaurant in the area without a doubt! Friendly staff made us feel like family and the atmosphere was great. Such a great place to celebrate my husbands Birthday. We will definitely be back because they have a huge menu and we want to try so much more! Portions were great and prices were super reasonable. Did I mention it was also delicious? Like finger licking good!

We arrived at Yanagi and were greeted warmly by the respectable sushi chefs. Very quickly I felt comfortable and knew this would be a good experience. The menu looked very detailed with tons of delicious option. The staff took our order and we received our food within 20 mins. They treated us kindly and the Salad Sashimi was excellent(see picture). 5/5 would recommend to come here again.

If you love sushi places, Yanagi was awesome. I really enjoyed their unique spin on rolls. There are some standards but many new things to try. I dont think there is a poor choice on the menu. A place to be adventurous!

We stopped in Paso Robles for lunch and some shopping and struggled to find an open place for lunch on a Wednesday. We walked around until we found this place.We ordered two rolls and edamame and we were served pretty quickly. The rolls were fine but not exciting.The restaurant is fine for sushi. The ambience was pretty bland. Servers were friendly.

Very underwhelming. The lobster roll and the caterpillar roll were very bland. The scallop and Spanish mackerel nigiri were extremely good though.The octopus was very rubbery and bland but they removed it from our bill. Staff is very friendly

Took my husband there for his birthday dinner, All of the staff are absolutely wonderful. We ordered the Lovers Boat, it was absolutely gorgeous! Lots of different choices of Shrimp tempura, Vege tempura 🍤, two choices of Beef steaks, California Rolls, sliced fruit, 🍚 rice. It was then served in a very beautiful wooden boat! I highly recommend this place for any occasion and the prices of their beautiful prepared dishes are definitely affordable.

Um yeah traveling through and this place is not your typical high quality sushi place at the price point they are charging. I will it at that. Avoid their Yanagi special roll and just get the traditional dragon or eel and avocado.

The Alejandro Roll is absolutely delicious! If you like a tempura style roll, try the Crunch Roll, Lobster Roll, or Loco Roll that has fried, crispy onions on top. The service is always fast and great.

Fantastic Fusion sushi rolls! We ordered the Dragon Roll, Alaskan Roll and Tuna Temptation Roll. All were excellent. Dragon roll had some chilli oil under it which was unique and gave it a good kick! Overall enjoyed the food and friendly service! Will certainly visit again if in the area!

Great place for sushi if you are in the downtown paso area! They have several rolls to pick from but my favorite was the super crunchy that I highly recommend. All the other rolls my friends got were also great tasting. The restaurant seems a bit short staffed hence the 4 stars but overall a good place.

We had just arrived in town, on Memorial Day, we were all in the mood for Italian, to our dismay much of Cambria was closed.🥴 So I was looking for other options when I spotted Yanagis across the street from us. So I said how about Sushi! So we were hungry they were open so off we went. OMG!!! I haven’t the words to express how good it was!! From the moment we walked in, the service was five stars! The menu was great, the food was outstandingly delicious!! That hardly describes just how delicious everything we ordered tasted. For me personally, The Yakisobi noodles, and the fried pork chop, was one of the best things I have ever had! I would make the trip just to eat there again!

We were here on a Tuesday night and were treated like royalty. The sushi chef made-up and/or doctored some of the items, and they were out of this world!We will be back next time we are in Paso Robles.We picked food up to take to Derby in the past, so we knew the food was good. The Sushi was absolutely amazing, but I’ll come back to that. The staff was friendly. They have a great selection for anyone that loves Japanese cuisine. The Sushi is pricey but similar to upscale sushi restaurants. There was nothing fast about this visit. It was around 15 mins before our drink order was taken. We were getting frustrated waiting over an hour for our food because we were so hungry. However!!! Once the food arrived we forgot about everything else. The Sushi rolls that we ordered were incredible. One of the ones I ordered was Tuna Temptation, worth every single penny. I would definitely eat there again but my mentality going into it that time would be prepared for a long wait. They do have outdoor seating right now.

I used to frequent Yanagis quite often when I lived in Paso Robles. I recently visited the restaurant after a few years of absence. I was happy to discover that the only thing that has changed is the decor. Otherwise the cuisine is just as fresh, delicious and authentic as I remembered it. The service is excellent and the staff is very friendly.

I was lucky enough one day they have a chef decide to make my Sushi special for me. I think he took pity on me because I was sitting next to two drunk tourists who had been doing wine tasting all day. I dont know, but thats the first time anybody told me not to dip my Sushi and wasabi and I was okay with it. He made it perfectly so much to my taste and unfortunately the experience was not repeated the next few times I stop there. It is a very good place though, and you wont be disappointed, very crowded at peak hours. I would make reservations.

Went to the restaurant with my family for my bbirthday on June 15. We sat at the grill. I got the shrimp and steak. The usual artistry grill cook was low energy and didnt listen to how I would like my steak and shrimp. I asked for my steak medium rare, he made it well done. I asked for my shrimp to be cooked more and he refused to cooked it more saying it was cooked well. Our friend rice has sesame seed in it and no vegetables, just egg and under cooked brown rice-very odd. Our whole party was suppose to get soup with our meals, and we didnt get it after our meal when we asked for it. I complained and they could care less. They didnt try to fix the issues at all. I let things go because it was my birthday and I didnt want to make a scene. What a poor time we had. I have been going to this restaurant for 10 years. I WILL NOT BE GOING BACK, the employees were that rude and careless. Thankfully, there are plenty of other good restaurants in the area.

My wife and I have been to both the Pismo and Paso locations and both are same quality food, however we feel like the Paso location has better service and staff. LONG wait for food and got back to the AirBNB to find they had given me the WRONG item. My husband got the right thing, but it was bland and not very impressive, generic sushi. Mine was not only wrong, but TERRIBLE, dripping with some kind of liquid that tasted strongly like wasabi and fell apart when I touched it. Lots of that mystery liquid dripping out of the container. Yanagi is normally a great restuarant with the best sushi around. My girlfriend and I ordered through meal club. In one of the rolls was a sharp broken piece of a plate. It cut my girlfriends mouth since it was rolled up with the fish. She is okay. I am very disappointed especially with the good food quality.

No more tepayan grill!! 😭 It was so great and entertaining that wed go once a month or more if family was visiting. Already seemed so busy and waits were crazy, dont know why they got rid of it. Not into sushi so we sadly wont be eating here anymore.

Awesome food. I recommend the salmon cakes and the daily specials. My wife loved it and she hates seafood. If you dont like rice or seaweed in your roll they have some that are done with cucumber and salmon.

Excellent Omakase on Monday night. Chef Marcus is new at Yanagi, but a long-time sushi chef. He kept the best fish coming, one piece at a time, until I said stop. Fresh, prepared and served perfectly, and with a running commentary describing the fish, what to expect, and how to eat it. A real diamond in Paso Robles. Highly recommended.

My wife and I will come here any chance we get. The staff is super nice and they work hard to please. The ambiance is typical sushi bar. They have good variety each time we go even though we always get a Sunshine Roll (Poke style fish ontop of a tuna roll) and a Macadamia Nut Roll to start. If I was offered a last meal on death roe (😉) Id have them bring me these two rolls. They have two teppanyaki griddles to the side that accommodate groups. If I was pressed to issue one criticism I guess Id have to admit their birthday ritual is a bit over the top. And when I say over the top I mean 20-30 decibles over the top. That being said, Ive been here often enough to appreciate the intent and the demonstrated enthusiasm of the staff so Ill allow it. I cant recommend this place enough. Youll probably see me there.

I dont eat sushi, in fact, I dont eat seafood at all. So after getting dragged here recently by co-workers, I was fully expecting a boring rice or noodle lunch. Luckily I was wrong, and fully enjoyed every non-sushi thing I stuffed in my craw. I also got to experience bulgogi for the first time, and am eternally grateful for the experience.

Used to love the place and would eat here several times a week. However, its far from where it used to be. Had lunch at the bar today and there was three mouse droppings near the to go plates - even stood up and got a closer look to make sure it wasnt any seasons that may have ended up there. Nope, very obvious mouse droppings. Nothing big to me, mice happen. Told the waiter so they could clean it before anyone who does give a hoot sat there, who was complete jerk. Was not going to mention anything online, but since he was a jerk about it ... might as well. Not dining at this location again .... just because he is a jerk each time.
