We went here for mothers day. Have to say this little mom n pops restaurant is great. The food was absolutely delicious. Service top notch. Complimentary tea. The food portion is amazing. Also theres a celebrity hall of fame . We spent over $100 well worth it. And we took an amazing amount home as well

Great food and quick service! You will go home with leftovers :) We got the slippery shrimp, egg drop soup, and green beans with minced chicken. Green beans with minced chicken were fresh and seasoned well. Large portion of everything especially the egg drop soup, and the slippery shrimp was everything we had heard about! Definitely would recommend

Authentic Chinese food. I also ordered food last minute for NYE and they were able to complete the order in time for my party. The staff is very friendly. And there are a lot of celebrity photos there so that also helps show how delicious this place is. Looking forward to going back.

I use to love this place. I dont know what happened. We ordered cashew chicken and string beans with minced chicken. I normally order this and this time it tasted like old chicken. Like when you reheat chicken in the microwave oven. Disappointed and disgusting. They lost me as a customer

We’ve been here 3 times. Food is great as usual. This time we ordered slippery shrimp, dumplings, sweet and sour pork, and lo mein with beef. All was good though the beef was a bit tough. Service has gone down. I tried looking for their email address to avoid posting online but none is available. After we ordered and being told our appetizer takes a while to cook and very likely to come after the food the waiter commented to not give him a hard time. All we’d ask was that it comes at the same time with our main dishes. It’s common requests if you go anymore to make such requests. He needs to get use to managing that himself. We’ve never known a Chinese restaurant to handle this the way he did. Then, my plate was literally dirty and I asked a woman to swap it. She brought me a paper plate! What?! I’m there to dine and pay for my food. I’m not getting it for free. I pay you serve. Simple as that. That was tacky. I of course declined it and asked for a regular plate. Two other staff were actually nice and helpful. So 50/50. Can’t believe they’re allowed to treat and speak to customers this way. We eat out often and we are not treated this way.

This is a nice Chinese restaurant in East Pasadena. The staff is friendly and the prices are fair. I got the beef chow mein entree for takeout and it was delicious. Cant wait to go back to try more dishes. Free parking in lot.

I don’t know how this place has all these good reviews. The whole restaurant felt like a retirement home. Service was 4/10 at best took them 10 minutes just to greet me at the door. Ordered their “most popular dishes” which was the shrimp, chicken, and beef with scallops. Chicken and shrimp was just breading. The beef felt microwaved since it was half warm and half cold. The scallops I had to run to the bathroom to spit it out. When I told the server I didn’t like the beef and scallops he tapped me on the shoulder and walked away. Literally panda express has better quality food at 1/3 the price.

This has been our go-to place for green beans with pork and orange chicken. The hot and sour soup is mild enough for my wifes taste buds, and I just add a generous portion of red pepper oil available on the table. I wish they also had vinegar. Prices have gone up (like everywhere?) but the portions are usually generous enough that we take home some leftovers.

Mandarin cuisine will never be the same after eating here. All my favorite dishes were here but the absolute best Ive ever had hands down. Must try this place with family or group of friends. This has been my favorite Chinese food place for years. The slippery shrimp is what everyone goes for here. I actually found out about this place from going to the LA location. The LA one is great but it was always full and parking was a challenge. The one in Pasadena is closer to me and the food is just as good.

If your not white they won’t even assist you, they sat us down gave us our food, we sat there as we watch all other tables get help and asked if everything is okay. We had to flag them down a couple times and they ignored us. We had to literally walk to the front man at the entrance to get assistance to get another spoon. when we were done eating we sat there for more 45 minutes waiting for the bill. Mind you this location at the time we went wasn’t busy at all. Terrible customer service. And then when we left we accidentally forgot our Togo box on the table and they yelled at us to pick it up infront of the whole restaurant, the whole place was dead silent when they did that, so embarrassing. Food was actually decent tho, not authentic but had good flavor.

Busy yet cleared and wiped down a table in the rush of dinner to seat us as quickly as possible. Food here is always tasty and plentiful. We always order for four people even though we are only a 2 person family so we can have even more left over. I have never had a bad meal here in the 20 years I have ordered.

Our go-to place for California Chinese food. The food is good, and very consistent. Order the Slippery Shrimp, the Three Flavor Sizzling rice soup, the Sautéed Sting Beans, and the Pan fried noodles, you cant go wrong. The staff is amazing, especially Chuck. Always ask for Chuck!

WARNING: DO NOT ORDER VIA YANG CHOWS WEBSITEWe ordered via Yang Chows website online for delivery. The food was not delivered. When we called the restaurant (the only contact provided), the first person hung up on us after hearing about our problem. When I called back, a different person asked we bring our complaint to their delivery service directly (despite no contact being available), and refused to remunerate us for the undelivered food. We will be disputing the charges with our credit card company. Upshot: Yang Chow wants your money, and they dont care how they get it.In response to the owner: we contacted the third party, and they said Yang Chow must refund us directly. I sat on the phone while the representative called Yang Chow, and Yang Chow refused to process the refund since their manager wasnt there. If you go to Rushable’s website, it explicitly mentions the restaurant itself must process refunds. In addition, we ended up receiving a confirmation from the restaurant for our order after 9pm which was supposed to arrive at 6:10pm. Our guess is Yang Chow forgot to confirm the order until after 9pm, so we were charged and the delivery driver never came. Yang Chow does not understand how their own delivery service works.

Love coming here with family. It does get crowded so a reservation is a must. Although we were the once without a reservation and waited for about 1 hr and while we waited a party of 15 that had a reservation arrived and was told that they would have to wait just like everyone else because there was a lot of people waiting. That is why I am giving them 4 starts instead of 5. I would of been so mad if that would of happened to me. But the food is very good. Our family favorite are the slippery shrimp. The green beans are also delicious. They have Thai tea that is super yummy. Cant go wrong with anything that you order. The staff could be friendlier though. And this location is less busy than the LA one thats for sure.

Ordered takeout last week. here was my experience:• First, the lady that takes your order on the phone is very rude. I understand that English may not be her first language. However, she is very terse, and unwilling to answer simple questions (e.g. what eggplant dishes do you have?).• The food was absolutely dreadful. The chicken salad had stale with wilting iceberg lettuce. The chicken was rubbery. The broccoli beef was very, very salty. A lot of MSG. The broccoli was similarly soggy. Egg rolls were very greasy with stale vegetables. Shrimp was rubbery and tasted reheated. The eggplant was also soggy.Nothing we ate tasted fresh. And the excess sodium left us thirsty for hours.• Particularly infuriating was that this food is EXPENSIVE. Came to $150 for 5 entrees. Considering how awful the food was, paying this much is abject thievery.Been going here on and off for 20 years. Has gone way downhill. Not going back. Food from Panda is better and a lot less expensive.

Upon first walking in, I noticed that the only aroma was the smell of fried food. Very little atmosphere, besides the photos on the wall of celebrities (I guess they feel important because some celebs happened to stop by to check out what they had cooking) and the service was mediocre at best. We ordered fried rice and it didnt even come after waiting for at least 45 minutes. We did get our fried shrimp (which was utterly flavorless, besides tasting like greasy pancake batter) and the wonton soup (which was just wayyy to salty) had absolutely no flavor at all. What ever happened to green onion and garlic, which are two essential seasonings in Chinese food? The veggies in the wonton soup were flavorless and undoubtedly from a can. The sweet and sour sauce had no favor besides vinegar...lots of it. So each of the dishes were one-toned, either having the flavor of salt, grease, or vinegar. No thanks, Ill pass! We still paid for our meal and had the fried rice cancelled due to being to dissatisfied with what we did receive. The only delicious thing was the coca-cola, which I had to drink two glasses of to wash down the salt and vinegar! Did the chefs have covid and lose their sense of taste and smell? EAT AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Excellent food and service. There are two locations of this establishment, one in Chinatown at Broadway and this one in Pasadena. I have visited both locations and the service and quality are the same: excellent. Each has a display of the many celebrities that have enjoyed a meal here - Dr Drew, Magic Johnson LL Cool J, Drew Barrymore, Live Schreiber to name a few.This is a very cozy casual no frills place with good variety. Very welcoming servers, they treat everyone like a part of their family. Excellent place for groups, family dinners or just lunch or dinner for 2. You can enjoy a cocktail with your meal.Food is fresh, service quick and you will leave satisfied! If they have the ingredients, they will make the accommodation. I was in the mood for shrimp the night I visited, and had a taste for one of their specials with chicken. They were happy to make it with shrimp - for small fee. And believe me, it was worth every penny!The portions are very generous. I could have shared my meal with my husband, but he wanted Chow Mein that night, so we got both and shared a taste. We left full and satisfied with a take away bag, enjoying the leftovers the following day for lunch.There is a small parking lot here, so you may have to park on the street during busy periods. Worth the wait! I look forward to my next visit.

This was a favorite spot of my brothers, who took me there for his final dinner in the states as he was moving to Germany. We were seated a full 10 minutes before our waiter came so of course by the time he did come, we had our minds made up about food. We placed our food & drink orders but the latter was another 5 minutes in coming and when they did, the soda fountain was out of syrup adding more time to wait on beverages. They failed to bring out whatever their version of chips and salsa is, something my brother was looking forward to as again this was of his favorites spots and has grown accustomed to their service. When our long awaited meals were finally brought out my brothers lo mein was burnt and had to sent back. This place just didnt save the best for last for my brother. This is my personal favorite Chinese food restaurant. The best tasting food, the best iced tea, very clean, very enjoyable atmosphere. From the moment you arrive, you just want to eat any of the delicious dishes they offer, enjoy it, sleep, wake up, eat more. And the best part is the perfect service they provide... It makes me want to move in to Yang Chow. Then to top it off, every once in a while you will run into Hollywood heavy hitters as well as pro athletes here. If you havent yet... You definitely have to eat here and live the whole experience now. The food is so good, you wont even care that George Clooney is sitting in the booth next to yours. This is the standard that I hold all other Chinese food restaurants to. Nothing has ever come close. This is the twin of the Yang Chow in China town so youll get the same quality. Yeah its legendary. You can tell by the wall of celebrities you see upon entering. I enjoy the sizzling rice soup (though a large meant for 4 is barely enough for me) and a shrimp dish whose name eludes me. Sort of one note to me. I much prefer Chengs Garden in Arcadia.

W/steamed rice the total is $37,89 So it is pricey, but it will be another meal, so in those terms, its worth it.
