2023-08-17 05:12:07I tried the signature set, which contains everything, beef sukiyaki, salmon, katsu, and veg. Great combination! The beef sukiyaki udon is also great!

2023-07-28 21:07:27Best Ramen place Ive been in the Bay Area.We walked in thinking it might be a good place because of the reviews but it turned out to be excellent. They say us down and explain how the order on the iPad worked, and given that my wife has dietary restrictions they told her to wait a minute. After a little while the chef/manager comes out and goes through the menu with her explaining what she could and couldnt eat. It was really something else. After that I ordered my food and everything came out right awayThe place has a great atmosphere and the staff is very friendly. Its on the top3 of my restaurants to go back to.

2023-04-29 20:24:28Great set menu. The wagu sukiyaki is excellent. The clams in the soup are really fresh. The fried ika (squid) is lightly battered and not overcooked. Toy definitely should try this place.

2022-08-01 14:57:45Went around 2hrs before closing time and we were immediately seated. I hear you usually have to wait. Had two servers who were decent (esp the female server). Ordered via a tablet. It makes ordering easier. Other than the photos shared in this review, we also had tamago yaki, which was the only dish I didnt like (too firm and salty for me), and Sapporo beer. Food there is good overall, but quite overpriced. The sushi was actually decent, which is harder to find around here. They also give free rice refills, but the portion sizes are on the smaller side so idk if anyone would need additional rice. The rice isnt bad for the area as its been hard to find good quality Japanese food in the area. But unmemorable. Those 2 sushi rolls in the photos are just under 5 bucks each, and despite being delicious, they can be eaten in one easy mouthful. Thats a decent guage for the overall pricing for everything. We paid close to 100 usd for what we ordered (!!!), but I had a nice time with good company so I may go back whilst Im holidaying in the area. Definitely not a place Id go more than twice on my trip though due to the price. Beer came in a pretty and chilled glass. The tables and chairs were clean. They had subtle music (reminded me of new age jazz) that wasnt blaring/obnoxious/pop. The upscale atmosphere seems just right to grab a beer and some appetisers. On the downside, they use poor quality disposable wooden chopsticks that splinter everywhere. Their bowls are cheap and do not match the nice food they serve. But at the end of the day, I took a star off because the prices are steep and thats really all.

2023-12-09 01:46:33First thing first is tip. Their tip is minimum 18% from machine, and its including the tax. which means in fact if you dont calculate, it will show 18% but charge 20%. I think its a red flag for a business. Why not just tell customer that you doing 20% from the checkout machine? Why let customer pay 20% but feel like paying 18%. BAD habit. Then is the food. Sukiyaki is mediocre. But still OK. The miso soup is full of fishy taste where I dont know how they made it like that way. The fried chicken, to be honest, if you ever had any authentic, you will know its totally wrong and just a below-family quality....If they asking 20% in their checkout machine, how the atmosphere look like. I think the old reviews legacy still there but I have to take my own effort to get napkin. They just gave 1 piece. The other piece is from the opposite seat where they even didnt remove the chopsticks even though that seat is empty. The restroom. Saw the marks on the door. different kind of stuff packed and make the isle narrower on the way to. They dont put the towels in the rack, the dish soap in the machine, everything is raw. I dont know how this kind of service can do 20% tip except the old legacy lights and furnishing.Dont recommend this place. I do now before COVID they do no tips. but now all has changed.

2023-03-14 05:07:27Everything was very flavorful and came out super quickly. The karage chicken and hand rolls were great appetizers. The sukiyaki udon was deeply filling and flavorful. I will definitely be coming back here!

2023-09-18 17:48:37This was my first time at Yayoi as my friend recommended for authentic Japanese food. I was thinking about ordering something else but when I saw Eel Hitsumabushi, I had to try it. It was relatively expensive but I know eel becomes expensive nowadays. Eel was cooked nice and soft though it came with small seaweed salad but I wish they could add some small regular salad or something. I also ordered cold Maccha drink which wasnt very cold.

2023-01-28 06:25:25I love their rice. The Tonkotsu teishoku (set) is very great. Nice fried pork cutlet and a delicious side dish. The Oyako Tsu (chicken egg rice) is not very recommended. The sauce is too plain so the rice is rice itself. The good ones in Japan taste very different. The rice should be mixed with sauce. The egg is too dry.Dessert is good. This will be favorite place for Tonkotsu rice place.

2023-04-03 17:04:29You are on the customer side of a cooking video game here. You order via ipad and you are able to see your order entering different statuses: being prepared, done, delivered. You order drinks like plain water, hot water or refills for your tea pot via ipad. I looked around and saw that they had fewer staff in the general eating area for a restaurant of this size. Such a fun place to eat if you are an engineer or someone who likes to people-watch or study efficiency/effectiveness of dining establishments. Okay, so back to the food part of the review. So tasty! The sakura sencha was a very fragrant and high-quality tea. The takoyaki arrived piping hot with the katsuo-bushi flakes waving from the steam escaping from the dough balls. The octopus was chewy and had a smokey flavor. (yum) The miso shiru was well-flavored (not overly salty like some places). The tonkatsu and most importantly the eggy sauce was well-cooked to be soft and runny. I was surprised by the generous portion of eggplant in the nasu miso. We had such a nice lunch that we opted to eat lighter for dinner. You will not leave hungry. Ambience=5, Service=5, Food=5.

2019-08-11 00:59:08The atmosphere is great. You order through a pad device, which you can track the process of order. If you need help, you can select the help you need from the help menu on the pad device, too. The price may look a bit higher than other Japanese restaurants, but it has already includes tip, so its quite reasonable. There are quite a lot of selections on the menu. We enjoyed the food we ordered, except the beef sukiyaki is a bit salty for me. The presentation of food is very nice, too.
