The restaurant is open to the public again!! Ive been going to this place for years and I was so excited to see that we could go sit down again. The new menu has so many options and it is so delicious. A must try is the sashimi plate, the fish was so fresh and it tasted devine, leaves you wanting more.They have added new dishes like yakisoba, ramen and tuna tartare which were also delicious. Tuna tartar is also a must. It was nice having different type of ramen flavors, Im excited that I do not have to go far to get a good bowl.Of course they still have their classic rolls like California, spicy tuna, and Philadelphia rolls.Lastly the hot sake is a must try, has a nice flowery taste to it, perfect for a cold chilly night.

Heart sushi is delish. Happy hour 4 to 6pm has great prices if youre looking for a deal. Order takes time to make so look at the menu first and not your phone! Worth the wait. Servers move fast, no chit chat which suits me fine.

Completely ruined a late Mothers Day dinner. Had the fam over. Ordered sushi for mom and they left stuff off the order. Grub hub didn’t resolve and took forever on chat.Note to restaurant, send wasabi and ginger with your sushi. Especially when extra is requested. You don’t send zero when your customer wants more.

EDIT: This is actually just a completely different restaurant that bought the business from Yi Sushi and uses their name. That explains why it is nothing like Yi Sushi.This used to be my favorite sushi place ever and we frequented it for takeout all through the pandemic. We were so excited to see they were open for dine-in again... until we were told the new menu was missing the roll I specifically come here for: the West Roll. Also, the miso soup is sooo weird! It used to be my daughters fave anywhere and now its kind of sour and way too salty. We literally have no reason to come here anymore and will have to begin our hunt for a new favorite sushi spot.

The sushi is very good but they have a goofy pricing system that says something like 50% off but all they did was raise prices so they could discount. In the end the specials may be a little less than competitors but why go though such non-sense. I guess because so many fall for it?

Tried this place for the first time and so glad I did. Everything was absolutely delicious. Our server Ann was very friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable of the menu. The Chef even came out to greet us at the table and brought us a complimentary tuna tartar, took the time to explain every detail of the dish and was also very friendly. Such a nice experience from friendly staff, fresh and delicious food, we will be repeat customers for sure!

We’re new to the area and it was our first time here. Great service and delicious food. The server was very kind and helpful. The portions were generous and prices very reasonable. They even gave us complimentary miso soup for the small wait we had. We live right down the street and will definitely be back again to eat here.

Ordered as delivery on UberEats, food was bland. Beef ramen totally underwhelming. Who puts zucchini and carrots in ramen? Their tuna tartaki, “thinly seared tuna with ponzu” had no seasoning, and was just tuna wrapped over asparagus, tuna was not fresh, tasted a bit off. Miso soup, was below average. Beef yakisoba was bland and needed two bags of soy. Only things we enjoyed was the garlic edamame and spring rolls. We were left very disappointed in our order.

My family of 6, myself, 4 children and a baby (1yr). There was another table there of about 5-6 people. We wait 10 minutes to be seated, very excited to eat…. This place is a completely different Yi Sushi. It is not owned my the same people. I used to order the spicy salmon but they do not have it on the new menu. I do not like Krab or Krabmix and it is in almost all of the fresh rolls and is in all of the no rice rolls. It is a good price and they are nice though. What I ordered was good it just isn’t as good as before.

Im very surprised by all the high ratings. It was so so sushi. The service was moderate. No menus, napkins or drinks were brought until ordering standard items every sushi joint would have. The hot hot roll was good as was the heart roll...the rest were marginal of the 6 or 8 we knocked down. The crunch used was odd flavored and inconsistent to the dozens of other joints I have been to over the past 20 years. I am still looking for a great sushi spot in the area. I think I will discount google reviews going forward and look for other reviews. If service was great I would have given 3 stars.

Gas station quality sushi at best.Used to go here a couple times a month before the plague now its takeout only.Last week will be last time ordering from them. Ordered 5 different rolls and all 5 rolls were almost exactly the same. Fake crab salad, avocado, cucumber & some sort of foul smelling fish product. Yi Sushi has been my favorite sushi place and my go-to for years. I’ve seen many phases of this place and can very honest that I have seen some slow service in the past but the servers are never rude. Tbh I like this place enough to keep coming. The sushi is great and they have the best happy hour menu around. Trust me. I’ve looked. It’s a great place to go and get good food on a budget. I’m so happy that they’ve reopened after being closed due to the quarantine.

I am really surprised by the number of good reviews on here; I must have come on an off night. After being seated and having our orders taken fairly quickly, we waited AN HOUR and still had not even had our drinks brought to us. We were about to leave when the waitress came and apologized and brought *some* of the sushi we ordered and the sake. When we left, they tried to charge us for the items that were never even brought to our table. I was embarrassed because I was the one who suggested we go to Yi, based on a friends recommendation. I definitely will not be returning.

This little gem was a pleasant surprise. My friend and I had a craving for sushi and decided to try it out. Everything was delicious. As an appetizer, we had the Calamari and it was just perfect; with a light batter and a great dipping sauce. We had the Salmon Don Buri, seared salmon with vegetables and rice. The salmon was cooked just right, the vegetables were cooked to perfection and the fried rice that came with it was great also. Then we had a Salmon Skin Roll, and a Double Taste Roll. The salmon skin was maybe a bit to crispy, but it was still good. The Double Taste Roll was huge and wonderful.Then we placed a special order of their Crunchy Roll with scallions and cilantro substituted for the cucumber and avocado, yum, yum! I cant eat cucumber or avocado anymore, (a sad state of affairs), so it is sometimes difficult to get sushi, as some places refuse to make any substitutions. So I was pleased with the opportunity to get some really good sushi that I could eat. I will definitely be coming back!Im sorry there are no pictures; we were so hungry that I forgot!

I order the chicken hibachi meal and fried calamari from door dash. Absolutely disappionting and disgusting. First thing I noticed was the sickening, off putting smell of the calamari which doesnt make sense because the batter nor the actual calamari was not seasoned. I ate 2 then stopped realizing its first tasteless and the smell was disgusting and maybe the seafood went bad. So then I go to try the chicken hibachi which included fried rice and vegetables. The entire tray smelled like warm deli ham. The rice did have flavor just not a good one. The chicken was coated with some bitter teriyaki sauce and the meat itself just did not sit right with me because of the texture of the chew. Even if it is dark meat Ive never seen dark meat like this, the chicken had spotty dark spots...the vegetables also covered in the same sauce was ruined because it took to the sauce too much. I tried to save the food by adding panda express teriyaki sauce but that couldnt even save it. This is how I know I wasnt dealing with covid symptoms because I could smell the pungent odor the food was giving off and my panda express teriyaki sauce tasted the way it have always tasted to me. Im very upset I wasted money on this place. Maybe they should only sell sushi and not venture into other cuisines at all. Seriously im sick to my stomach right now after taking a few bites. This place is awesome. I ordered through door dash. I got the Teriyaki Chicken bowl, Pork Gyoza, and the Yi Maki for 2 which includes a Dragon roll, Shrimp tempura, rainbow roll and a sake roll.The teriyaki chicken bowl has broccoli, mushrooms, and carrots in it. The veggies were cooked perfectly, even the mushrooms (which is hard to come by). They include a LOT of chicken. It was well cooked and tasted great. The rice was absolutely perfect sticky rice. It wasn’t over cooked at all. So yummy!The pork gyoza is the only reason I gave a 4 star instead of 5. They were overcooked and they included the tiniest amount of sauce. It honestly looked like someone put a teaspoon of sauce in and then forgot to fill it the rest of the way. The flavor was also underwhelming.The rolls OMG, they were so yummy. The presentation was an extra bonus. They put it in a tray that has a small well in the center for soy sauce and they arrange the sushi so that it’s not just a random mess. They put real effort into it even though it was just being delivered. It’s not important when sushi taste good but it was a pleasant surprise. They give you plenty of wasabi for those who like it and included white pickled ginger.The Dragon roll was tasty. It was the least exciting of the rolls ordered, but it was still enjoyable. It has eel and cucumber inside, but there wasn’t very much eel. There was plenty of beautiful and perfectly ripe avocado on top.The shrimp tempura was great. The shrimp was cooked well and perfectly crispy. They put some kind of spring lettuce inside that I was weary of it not tasting good or being limp and slimy, but it was crisp and actually was great in the roll.The rainbow roll was awesome and they give you great large pieces of fish on top. There was 2 kinds of tuna, yellow tail and salmon.My favorite was the sake roll. It has spicy salmon and avocado inside and it’s topped with generous slices of salmon on top. It wasn’t too spicy, just right. I like a lot of spice, and compensate with wasabi, but those who like medium+ spice will not be disappointed. Even someone who likes mild will still enjoy it, IMO. There was so much salmon inside and out. It was amazing.Usually less expensive sushi places will skimp on the fish and it’s mostly just a ball of rice. Not this place! You will NOT be disappointed.

I got the rancho roll which is my regular, she the crunch roll, and we split a sweet potato roll and a peanut avocado. Theyre rolls are rice heavy which sometimes I enjoy. Only qualms is our table was dirty, and the new soy dish was sticky. We also had to make a point of asking for water and refills. I always feel awkward having to repeatedly ask for things.

Terrible server-Irene. She was very busy but it was her attitude that was the problem. We arrived .At 5:45 pm and at 6:08 she still had only taken our appetizer(which had not arrived). When I asked her if our appetizer coming she said that it was but I should have told her we were in a hurry. She then dropped off the appitizer. We gave her our dinner order. She then began to tell us off-that we need to be prepared in future. Before we could respond IRENE walked away. My wife and I could not believe what she said and we left without touching our appetizers. I walked over to Irene and asked for the manager. She said there was not one. We then left.

I love a me a good roll, and, if I may recommend, the Hot Hot roll is truly a vixen living up to her name. Lemon, cilantro, spicy tuna- all shes gotta do is dance a little and shes got me comin back for more!I will say the one fault this place has is their lack of a real alcohol license (too bougie perhaps?) so youll have to settle for sake, which in my humble opinion has won a fair game or two in my day. Nonetheless, their happy hour runs strong from 3-6 daily, as in EVERY DAY with sushi deals! For this, ladies and gentlemen I am always game.Now if ever I respond NO to that question, I ask that you throw me a boat and a lifejacket because Id have clearly jumped off the deep end.

This place is just ok for me. Sushi is nothing to write home about, especially if home is Japan. But its fresh, its ok. I had the ramen as well. Heart breaking for a fan of ramen. Bland almost tasteless broth, 2 pieces of chicken in mine, and soggy over cooked noodles, zucchini and carrots. Probably wont be back. Theres a better place in the Ralphs plaza if youre looking for sushi in Rancho San Diego.

Its Happy Hour Roll Sushi and Sushimi menu is highly creative, variable and on par with any large similar establishment in the county.The freshness of the ingredients use to prepare the various dishes is above and beyond the standards you would expect. The ambience of Yi Sushi is intimate. This place was pretty good...staff was friendly and the place was very clean...wide variety of sake (hot or cold)...the sushi was good...I also enjoy the teriyaki pork, which came as huge portion and tasted great..I wish I had thought to take pictures...overall it was an enjoyable, reasonable to low price experience that id recommend to anyone looking to go get sushi in el cajon
