Best little Sushi restaurant in Alameda! The owner is the Sushi chef and he is a master!
My husband and I grabbed take-out. Well be back very soon! The restaurant is quaint and cozy. I love the decor and atmosphere. The sushi is extremely fresh. The kama is charred perfectly and juicy. Even eating the food to-go was amazing. Do yourself a favor, and go to Yokohama!
Yokohama is my favorite Alameda sushi. Their bridges are amazing, each piece of fish is fresh and delicious, and even the vegetables they use in tempura taste way better than the ones I get for myself when I cook. Plus the atmosphere of the interior with the ink drawings is really cool. Theyre great in every way.
It was a lovely night. The service was perfect. The food was amazing as always. The place is small but cozy and comfortable. A go to for sushi in Alameda.
Its 3 stars, honestly is just ok, average at best. The environment is spot on though. It reminded me those humble sushi restaurant in Japan. The rice and the cut of the fish is not on par. The sashimi is really not that generous, a little on the stingy side. I know after the pandemic the restaurant business is even harder to run. I get it, but for the price I have other choice.

I dont know what these people who gave good reviews to this place are smoking?? Because this place was very disappointing and awful! First it was the greeting; the Lady was cold and seemed annoyed at our presence, second the AC wasnt on or something, third we were the only ones in this place (Sunday) and she still took her sweet time to come to our table and take our drinks order, fourth, we all KEPT saying thank you and she never replied to us nor look at us in the face! The Sushi was super tiny and not good at all, it wasnt even fresh. She and other employees kept staring at us the whole time, with a frowny face. And when she would approach our table it wasnt in a Can I get you something else way but more like Are guys leaving now? We also noticed that she wouldnt do the same when non colored customers came in, her treatment towards them was different. Even the pictures of people on the tables were of only Caucasians and Asians. Our bill was too High. For the food, the experience, the ambient and service this place was way too expensive!
Holy hell Ive been eating mediocre sushi so long I forgot what good sushi tasted like.A tiny little storefront hides a cozy restaurant set with wooden stall and free tables in the middle.Service was quick and attentive, the food was delicious, and it wasnt a problem getting in and out in a hurry.Fridays and the first of the month are super busy, so plan accordingly

Little local Japanese sushi place. The food is okay enough, consistent and a fine value. Service is also reliable. Its one of the better sushi places on Alameda in this (low) price range. I would eat here again.
I just tired out this place yesterday and it was delicious!! I ordered a Baked Scallop roll and it was perfect. The price of the rolls were no more than $11 and the staff are extremely friendly. We also ordered the Small Combo that had 4 to 5 different kinds of fish. It came with, salad and rice for about $25. It looked so pretty! I will definitely come back here again.
Good sushi, exceptionally slow service. Got there at 6:50, seated by 7, order for drinks taken at 7:05, then waited till 7:25 for someone to come by and take our order, which is all ok. Then, at 8:30, we got our food. An hour and a half after we had sat down, we got our food. The waitress apologized for the wait after acting surprised that we hadn’t ordered but honestly that’s unacceptable, especially since at least three groups larger than ours came in after us and all got served and fed before us. Clearly they don’t have a problem bringing people in, but they lost a potential repeat customer.
My family and I enjoyed a very nice dinner here. The food was great and the service as well. Promt. Attentive and let me assure you that we were not the only customers. Thanks to everyone at Yokohama!!

Great sushi. Ive lived on the island for years and over the years Ive tried almost every sushi place. Absolutely great cuts and great service.
Steer clear of anything deep fried. Too much flour in the batter made the tempura and karaage chewy opposed to crunchy. Also they neglected to add the soup for two meals. When I called, the said it didnt come with soup. Rechecked their website - they were wrong.Salmon Avo role was fine.All in all, should have gone to Yojimbo.
We started eating here over 20 years ago, then we would go on first Fridays, now we are going once a week. this is definitely a Webster st. gem. I can honestly say I have never had a meal here that wasnt just the best. there are things that Jacky will bring you that you never even thought about having. once she knows your tastes she will surprise you. I really love these surprises.

Love yokohama! Best sushi on the island. Their mackerel is also the best I’ve have. We go here about 1-2x a month! Recommend highly! Also they are very sweet!
Ive eaten here many times, and I really like the food. Its a very tiny place, but Ive never had to wait more than 5 minutes for a table. I dont eat sushi, but Ive had their udon, katsu, gyoza, and other entrees. Theyre all good and pretty standard. The wait stuff is very friendly and attentive.
Our favorite Japanese restaurant on the island. Japanese run which can be hard to find. Simple but delicious dishes, rolls that arent obnoxiously and prohibitively large, and a cozy, intimate atmosphere. There can be a wait during peak dining hours so come prepared for that, its a small establishment.
Food was great. A little on the higher end. But its a quaint little Japanese restaurant.Will come back to try one of the Bridge options.

Good sushi, cozy/quaint setting with wooden booths separated by Shoji screen. Service may be a little slow sometimes, however I found everything decent and decently priced. Will likely return.

We were considering the sushi bridges but at $45 for a set meal, we went with 2 combination dinners ($19.95) instead. Each combo dinner allowed 2 dishes and comes with miso soup and salad.UNAGI DONBURI[+] delicious! It was so soft and tender[+] probably the freshest and well grilled unagi Ive had in a while[+/-] came with ginger radishes and wasabi[-] and silly me decided to try a Yelp mint size of wasabi by itself, just for the heck of it and teared uppppp! It hit the roof of the back of my mouth and I basically inhaled it and aaaaah.... dont do that to yourself lolSALMON TERIYAKI[+] salmon was done well, first few bites were tender and juicy[+/-] best when it was hot so eat up![+/-] came w/ a bunchhhh of bean sprouts and several pieces of broccoli (so random); this filled up the majority of the platePORK KATSU[-] is a rather thin piece, not very substantial in size[+/-] tasted ok but would not get again bc of portionsSASHIMI[+] 7 pieces, 3 fish varieties (tuna, salmon, and some white fish)[+/-] nothing mind-blowing and majority of the plate was filled with veggies againOverall, Id give it a 3.5 mainly because Im not in a hurry to come back. Id rather pay less for decent teriyaki at Fujiyama-Ya or pay more for great sashimi at Tekka. Yokohama is the middle ground between the two, in both price and quality.

Food is OK, one evening the sushi was REALLY bad, and one time we ordered salmon teriyaki and they gave us chicken. It wasnt bad, just wrong order. We ate it anyway!
The quality of their sushi is very good. Though it may seem like service is inattentive at times, its only because the restaurant is full.
I cant say how Happy I am, at their level of take care. Theyre wearing Masks and Gloves. And Have a Table to make sure rules are followed!?I appreciate.

2023-04-28 05:52:01So excited to eat here. I haven’t been back in a long time. My friends and I ordered the Chicken Karaage, Alameda Roll, and the Yokohama Bridge. It was the perfect amount of food for 3 people. Everything was delicious. We even got mochi that came with the bridge.

2022-09-08 16:04:03My husband and I went here for a date night this week, and I cannot tell you how thrilled we were with everything! We ordered the Alameda Bridge, and it was perfection. The miso soup, salad, and hot tea were incredible, and the service was outstanding. The ambiance reminded us of our trip to Japan. We ate in places that felt almost exactly the same. We will now, without a doubt, be visiting Yokohama every time we are on the island!

2022-07-16 02:06:20Coming from southern california, and generally disliking people who hype their favorite spot only to be let down, this place is the best sushi spot on Alameda island, that I have eaten at, when you care about the quality of the fish you are consuming (nigiri and sashimi) versus garbage like california rolls and other items that can be had anywhere.When I first started going, pre covid, I had several mediocre incidents with waitresses forgetting an item or two from my order, but those have not happened lately. They genuinely care about their patrons and the quality of food they serve which is why Im recommending them as THE sushi place to eat at. (The 4 stars is because im not going to lie about the above.)If you want to get drunk on party drinks and have cheap rolls, go to Shirashoni. If you want dry, bad cuts of fish, go to Yellowtail. If you want good fish, come to Yokohama.

The servers and owners were so kind and attentive - would highly recommend to anyone looking for a casual sushi spot in Alameda. Will definitely be back!

2019-07-05 20:24:08This is one of my favorite spots in Alameda. Staff is always super friendly and food is amazing. We got the Alameda Sushi Bridge, and it was fantastic and very filling. My son got chicken Udon and it was soo much food. If ever I am in town I will always find my way back here.

2023-01-29 21:36:03I enjoyed the food from Yokohama but please be aware that the prices on the website are not accurate. I placed the order while looking at the menu on the restaurants website (which seems to really be struggling to even populate every time I visit) and estimated the total for carryout would be about $80 after tax and tip. The order was placed over the phone and it is my mistake for not asking the total to confirm I was in the ballpark. It came out to $93 before tip. I understand inflation is hitting everyone, food is EXPENSIVE, this is a small restaurant (with incredibly friendly staff), and you shouldnt eat out if you cant afford it, but as a customer I would have really appreciated accurate prices on the website. I cant even get the website to pull up the menu at the time of writing this (this is a huge pet peeve of mine; I wish I hadnt closed the tab last night).The nigiri dinner is currently $25 on the website- actual price is $30. The three rolls ordered were priced at about $14, $10, and $8. The actual prices (in that same order- $19, $12, $11. To me, this is kind of a considerable price difference and I absolutely would have chosen different items had I been provided accurate prices. I didnt mention this to the staff because it costs what it costs and Im not going to cause a fuss, but I wont be ordering from here again unless I have budgeted to spend $100+ for carryout dinner.
