The black garlic ramen is absolutely delicious! My wife, our daughter and I would come here weekly when we lived in Fremont. We are on our way to visit family in Newark today and going to come here for dinner. Im writing this review because of my excitement to eat here tonight. Its a hidden gem.
Flavorful soup and noodle has good texture. Their signature ramen is the spicy one with 4 levels of spiciness. Nice open layout inside, service was good. Id rate it 4.5 if half stars is an option. Might have lack of parking in front during busy hours, but there are places to park at the back, a short walk away.
Overall had a good experience eating at this restaurant. The service was average with the wait not being noticeably long. Granted it was a Thursday, but that said I still was with a party of eight (so it somewhat cancels out). I ordered the black garlic ramen and was not disappointed. The pork had good texture and melted in your mouth and the noodles were perfect. Overall it wasnt outstanding in its flavor, but the texture more than made up for it.
Keeping an open mind, the service was average as any other and will come to you once you raise your hand as their looking. Food did take a little long but is expected with any restaurant. Food was delicious, especially the chicken fried rice unexpectedly as the place seem to, obviously, focus on ramen (as the name suggests). The atmosphere was nice, and with I being seated next to the door, the gentle breeze was especially calming. Overall a very good experience.
There was a place in Union City with the same name so Im assuming its same owners. Ramen broth seems slightly different but less salty than before, which to me is a plus. Nice thick slices of pork (not rolled pork belly). I find the default noodles a little too al denté but you can order soft, and they also offer thin noodles. Black garlic has plenty of the oil and slices of garlic, more than any place Ive been to.

Extremely expensive for the quality of the food and the service. Ramen had 2 deep fried, chewy pieces of meat - not the thick, melt-in-your-mouth chashu I have had at other ramen places, a piece or two of mushroom. Waitress kept us waiting a long time before coming to take our order despite the restaurant being less than half full. Disappointing.
Ive been to the Union City location, and this location is much better!Union City one is a little dirty. There was always a strange grease floating in our cups of water. Made me think the restaurant wasnt very clean. This wasnt the case for the Fremont location since it was fairly new. They have a lot of seating available.There was only one server. I ordered the #1 and I think my mom ordered the garlic ramen. Food came in a decent amount of time and was delicious.Im only taking one star off because the server didnt really visit the tables and check on us to see if we needed anything else. I even tried waving but she never paid attention to her surroundings. I had to go up from my seat myself to request for something at my table.
To start, I got the #1. The ramen broth flavor was a bit salty and thicker than normal. The toppings were very, very light. My ramen was loaded with corn, but only had 2 pieces of bamboo shoot. The egg was overcooked, as well as the texture of the pork.The chicken karaage was oversized as portions couldve been cut in quarters for a better experience. Youll have to ask for small plates or youll be eating over the table after dipping your leg quarter sizes into the sauce.Ordering an iced coffee that was nearly $4.00 came in a can, and the water was tap and served warm.If youre considering dining here, consider better options in the area.
This place is so good!! So far Ive tried the black garlic ramen and spicy miso ramen--both amazing. Cant wait to go back.
If you are willing to wait for 40+ minutes for average food, then this is the place for you. I ordered and was told that it would take 20 minutes for my ramen and 2 orders of fried rice karaage. Came back for my food and was told to wait outside for another 10 minutes. Still no food. This place has 3 sets of huge french doors that are open and I was still told to wait outside. I guess if you eat on site you can stay inside. Did not care for the non caring attitude of the 2 ladies working the front side of the restaurant. Bad service, bad attitude average food. Who knew that karaage chicken fried rice was so complicated with so many ingredients that it would take close to hour for me to get my food. And this is exactly what the lady at the front told me as an excuse!!!
I was very surprised by the ramen here. I got the Jigoku Spicy Ramen (kara spice level) and wasnt expecting it to really be that spicy but holy cow that actually made me sweat. The broth was very flavorful, the noodles were perfect, and the pork was excellent. The ambiance is nice and the staff is friendly as well. Definitely recommend coming here.

My favorite Ramen place. Their level B spice is perfect for hearty flavor and an adequate spice heat to clear congestion. I get the level C spice when things feel gloomy or if I feel like challenging my spice tolerance
When you come here, be ready to wait. There might be a wait between 10min-45min. When you finally get to your table, you get to enjoy the clean atmosphere. You enjoy it a little longer than youd want. When you finally make your order and wait for another 15 minutes, the food appears. The ramen itself is great. Hearty and rich, the ramen is better than most. But, I dont think the ramen is worth the wait.
Bad service. Don’t go if you have small stomach.We ordered two ramen to dine in and asked for two to-go boxes. They said they give ONE to-go box ONLY. Is your togo box a fancy expensive one, like $1000 or what? Lmao.

So yummy! My boyfriend got the dipping noodles (beginner level spicy is already crazy) and I had the tonkotsu. *ONE FULL EGG* is included. Food came out super quickly and the broth was full of flavor. Definitely beats bodo lucky and is a contender for ajisen :)

Possibly the best ramen in Fremont. This is the restaurants second location in the Bay Area and just opened a few months ago, and its no wonder they continue expanding. The spicy miso ramen base is flavorful and the chashu is so tender. Highly recommend the takoyaki as well!

I had eel bento box there recently. The eel was quite juicy & fat unlike what I had in other Japanese restaurants for dry & skinny eel bento box orders for the same price range. I definitely will revisit.

Sharing the noren of the ramen shop Tsuru Family in Yokohama?The taste was better than I expected, and the char siu was delicious, but I was very disappointed in the lack of toppings and the lack of the ingredients listed on the toppings. In Japan, a bowl of ramen costs around 1,000 yen, but in America, it costs around $18 per person, including tip. Maybe I shouldnt expect too much because its America, but I would like them to at least include the toppings listed on the menu. I ordered spicy miso ramen, salt ramen, I forgot the photo, but white rice (Japanese size small), and gyoza (fried). I feel like Im not used to customer service. The inside of the store was clean, and the floors and tables were clean. On the table was a pitcher containing pickled ginger, vinegar with garlic, soy sauce, white sesame seeds, and water. It seems like it took a while from ordering to receiving all the items. I think Ill go there again because its in the neighborhood and I liked the taste and the store was clean, but I wish the stores door would at least be half closed at night. It was really cold...and the toppings and customer service were a bit weird, so I gave it a ⭐️3.
Maybe its because its localized, but it tasted quite different from Japanese Iekei ramen. The soup was not thick and there was no spinach. The chashu is quite thick and good. It was a shame that it was different from the so-called Iekei Ramen, but overall it was average.
The atmosphere is the best. You look at it from the outside and you dont expect to find a place like this, it is small, cozy, airy, it transports you to another country and another time, I loved it, you feel that you are served with love, the food is delicious and well presented. I loved. I highly recommend it.

2023-04-22 20:18:40Everything was a bit off. Ajitama(flavored egg) has no taste. Noodles were not ramen noodles. There were 2 chashu slices. One chashu slice was like Hong Kong style BBQ pork... The other slice was ok. Not your traditional ramen place.

2019-07-20 23:15:12Order potato croquet I guess I didnt read that its only 2. We also ordered fried calamari and that was horrible. It was spongy and oily. I do not recommend getting. The ramen was ok. The customer service was decent. But never came to check on how we were doing. Im glad we had a pitcher of water on the table.
