This is a great place to stay if youre traveling to Yosemite National Park. Its about 16 miles from the Yosemite South Entrance. The rooms are nice, spacious, and very clean. The entire hotel was clean. We stayed in a mini family suite for 4. Id stay here again.
We enjoyed our stay at Yosemite Southgate Hotel & Suites! It fit our needs perfectly. We wanted an affordable place to stay that is close to Yosemite (25 minutes from park entrance, 1.5 hours from Yosemite Valley) and has the amenities we need and we got exactly what we wanted! The room was clean and really big, it had a microwave, fridge and freezer which was super helpful, a free breakfast, pool, hot tub and even guest laundry! I definitely recommend this hotel to travelers who want a nice place to stay with amenities but dont want to break the bank
We got a great room at an affordable price. The breakfast area was a little cramped but I believe there is more seating (just not right near the food). Otherwise, this was a very nice and comfortable hotel with great service!
Positive: Extremally clean, modern and well appointed rooms. Coffee maker, microwave and refrigerator in room. Excellent, helpful staff. You could see that they really put an effort into maintaining this property. Negative: Complimentary breakfast all though appreciated, was limited.
Great place to stay to go to Yosemite! Pool was very nice, theres a sauna as well. The room was very big and the staff were super friendly! I did miss bagels at the breakfast, but everything else made up for that.
We stayed one night and the hotel and rooms were very nice and spacious! Location is great and close to everything in town. We stayed on the first floor and heard footsteps all throughout the night from the top floor and hardly got any sleep. I’d recommend staying on the very top floor if you book a room.
We had a wonderful stay here. The rooms are clean and big. The guys at the front desk are so helpful. Only thing was the wifi which didnt work but apart from that everything was great
Spacious large clean rooms! All four of us were able to move around without congestion. Super love there are a lot of outlets to charge all our devices at once, phones, iPads, apple watches, computer, GoPro, drones etc. Also the pool, sauna, spa etc., my main reason to book in this hotel for my kids and for us because we needed a place to relax our tired muscles after hiking at Yosemite NP.
Check-in personal had no interest on making us feel welcome nor attempted to help out. We had items on our bags that would get damaged with the heat, so we attempted to check in early. They refused to give access to the room a minute earlier than 4pm. Rejected several ideas suggested and gave no solution from their end. They told me they had no luggage storage either.Breakfast was very limited, had no flavor, was exactly the same options every day, and the server would start picking up food 15 minutes before time was over.Room was spacious, clean, and had sink separate from shower. Pool area was nice. Location was good.Vibe in general is not welcoming nor focused on service.
Positive: Clean, spacious room in a gorgeous forested town (with a dynamite Indian resteraunt only 1 minute down the road). Negative: The wifi was bad. It would sparadically stop working for an hour or so and start working fine again.
Would not recommend at all. Horrible customer service. We had something come up and they refused to work with us and move our reservation by a few days, even though they had plenty of availability. Amber - the front desk person who I spoke with was extremely unprofessional. She clearly needs more training. Manager was “busy” and also doesn’t have a voice mail. What kind of business establishment doesn’t have a phone system with voice mail? Never experienced anything like this before. Would stay away if I were you - they do not care about their customers.
Nice distance to Yosemite national park. Good courteous staff. Decent breakfast spread. Nice size room with microwave and fridge. Great stay overall!!
Well I made a reservation cuz were trying to come from UCLA hospital with a family member that passed away and weve had to make arrangements for the actual funeral date so I had to modify it once and then I wanted to modify it again because we couldnt get our relative from UCLA to Oakhurst in the time frame that we thought we could and so when I called them to see if I could modify it one more time they said no unfortunately not. So Im sure its a great hotel but you think they would be a little more accommodating in a situation as as to our family and our funeral. And if they wanted to verify the funeral they can go there on November 20th and they can see us all at the grave side. I told him Id give them all the information if they wanted to verify it and they said sorry I cant do that anyway. Yada yada

Car accident on our way just 1 Hour After we booked the hotel destoyed our Trip.We asked for a refund, or to change the date just for 1 day.Nothing, Not Even a response other than: „its Not Possible“.I hope That everyone is Reading This.Worst Customer Experience of our 23 days US Trip!
Stayed at this hotel as a base camp to yosemite. The service staff were friendly and the rooms were clean. Ample parking spaces around the hotel with access to the parking lots via the side entrance makes getting to our car that much convenient. Will recommend this place to anyone.
Amazing hotel experience at Yosemite Southgate Hotel. We originally just had 1 night booked but ended up staying 3 nights in total while exploring Yosemite National Park. HUGE ROOMS. Well kept and clean premises. Also had a Sauna which was a great touch. Prices were incredible as well - great value. Would stay again!

Stayed here for one night on our way to Yosemite National Park. The front desk clerk was very nice and let us check in an hour early since the room was already ready. The room was spacious and updated, and we had a nice view of the mountains. Continental breakfast in the morning featured eggs, sausage, cereal, yogurt, toast, and juice and coffee. The hotel is on the main street in Oakhurst with a good sized parking lot and is about 25 minutes from the Yosemite gate, so its a convenient location. Id stay here again in the future.

Definitely a comfortable stay with a 45 min drive to Yosemite! You get to have a head start and arrive at the park early! Pro tip: I would prefer arriving at the park in the late afternoon (3pm onwards) as all the early birds would be leaving. This would make Yosemite less crowded!Now for the Southgate hotel, there was free breakfast, parking and even a washing machine and dryer! (Costs extra coins!) Bed and Pillow was firm and everything was clean! No bed bugs or cockroaches.Cons: There’s only one lift and breakfast place gets a little crammed up, so head down early!
Overpriced and rude. Expect horrendous customer service if you come across anyone at the Front Desk. This place is very rundown and very over-priced. These people here will try to scam you for every dollar, especially if youre a foreigner. The entire staff here are very rude. The manager is the absolute worst and has no service recovery skills. No one here knows how to communicate and they will shout at you when you inquire about their scam charges.
We enjoyed every second of our stay there. the rooms are lovely, the breakfast is good, the staff is friendly and helpful. Tons of food options and a supermarket within 15min by foot, excellent wifi and only a 30mins drive to get into Yosemite. Awesome stay, would etay here again when visiting Yosemite!

It was quite interesting. I’m not giving it a five star because I found a bed bug in my bed🙁. We reported to the front desk and they offered us a new room. The service was great. The breakfast was out earlier than expected which was very nice because we had to leave early to Yosemite park. Which is around 40-ish minutes away. It is very clean though. 👍🏽 it has a little gift shop and free Wi-Fi but for some reason I was having trouble connecting to it. The pool was very nice but the hot tub was too hot for me it made my skin red😬. I don’t think that was their fault though but they do give free towels and there’s a sauna and something similar to that too. I do recommend I have been here twice but the first time I don’t quite remember.😅 I •••forgot to take photos of the rooms😭
At arrival, Amber and Anthony were helpful and great.Our suite was clean and functional. The double lock did not engage and Anthony fixed it immediately.We love the Beckman toiletries. Bath mat was tattered and Anthony replaced it at once.Pool was cold, jacuzzi was very hot and sauna was out of service. Sad.Breakfast was average. Coffee, juice, eggs and bread were dismal.At departure, front desk Ahna was curt and not helpful.

Stay away!! Bug infested. I woke up to a cockroach on my face!! Rude staff, especially the manager, that refused to take accountability even though I had pictures of the cockroaches in their room. Didn’t even get one apology, instead I was laughed at and called a liar.
We loved our stay at Yosemite Southgate Hotel and Suites. Initially we had booked its sister facility, Yosemite Westgate Hotel and Suites, but the road highway 120 was closed into Yosemite. So they transferred my reservation to the Southgate Hotel. It was a lovely hotel. It was very clean. The breakfast was good, eggs and sausage each day or cold cereal. But that was sufficient for us. We even extended a day so that we could drive to Kings Canyon (since Sequoia was closed due to snow).We were able to get into Yosemite Valley (35 miles north) and to Kings Canyon (100 miles south) with this hotel as our base.The price was high, but it was comparable or less than the other options close by.

Skip out on the hotel breakfast. Instead, About a block away you’ll find- “Dos Carnales” restaurant its nearby and serves delicious Mexican foods for breakfast, lunch and dinner (check it out).

Our 3rd floor room was clean, modern and spacious. Alarm clock had 2 usb-as and electrical outlets, perfect for charging all my electronic items in one place. Concierge were really nice, informative and helpful. Nice lobby decor. Easy free parking. Free continental breakfast was decent and their coffee/tea and water station were available 24 hrs - that was great! I also appreciate the microwave in the room for heating up our leftover food.Cons: We could hear footsteps from upstairs (4th floor) - no big deal as they do stop during sleeping hours. Pool was not available and unlikely to be for a while. One thing I did have a major problem with was the inconsistent internet. During the first night, we couldnt use it at all. That was the hardest part as we needed to look up some information and view some footage we shot that day. T-mobile 5G and 4G didnt have a signal in the hotel so we couldnt use our phones either. When I asked about it the next day, they said theyll restart the router and it worked well enough that night, but went back to being problematic the third night. It was the only frustrating part. Never had this problem with the hotels Ive stayed in.If they fix their internet service, Id be happy to come back next year. Its a great 2-star hotel, much better than some Hyatt Places we go to. Would highly recommend.
I thought I was booking an affordable, tourist quality hotel for our first night in the Yosemite area, so I was very pleasantly surprised when I walked into a completely updated room with lots of amenities. The lobby was large and very clean, and the free breakfast was not only convenient, but delicious! Very clean, much nicer than I expected. I will absolutely stay here again next time we visit the Yosemite area.

The hotel is conveniently located near the Yosemite National Park entrance, making it a perfect basecamp for exploring the park.The rooms were clean, comfortable, and spacious, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel offers a complimentary breakfast, which was a nice touch and saved us time and money.While the hotel is not luxurious, it is a great value for the price. However, I did deduct one star because the walls are a bit thin and we could hear noise from neighboring rooms.One unique feature of this hotel is the outdoor pool and hot tub, which were a welcome respite after a long day of hiking.To improve the hotel, I would suggest adding more soundproofing to the walls and offering more environmentally friendly amenities.Overall, I would highly recommend the Yosemite Southgate Hotel & Suites to anyone visiting Yosemite National Park. Occupies a good location, very close to Yosemite, so compared with hotels of the same class, it is a bit expensive, everything else is quite satisfactory, nothing particularly bad, nothing special, parking is available, standard western breakfast, forever Not soundproof.
I am giving 5 stars because these folks really try hard and it’s a really great price compared to other hotels in the same location. The hotel is a bit older but they are doing a really nice job renovating. My room had a massive deck. The beds are superb and rooms are very clean. The entire staff is very helpful, friendly and happy. Look no further, this is your hotel!!

Our room was far nicer than I expected: large, freshly updated, clean, and all around great! The only area that could use improvement was their breakfast offerings. But overall this hotel was excellent, and we would definitely stay here again.
We were pleasantly surprised at how modern and clean the rooms were for the price! In addition, the staff are friendly and helpful. 12 pm checkout was really nice.The breakfast could have been a bit better (scrambled eggs and/or biscuits and gravy instead of microwavable cheese omelettes would have been nice), but this is a small thing.

Very clean space, the room was spacious and cozy, and the receptionist at the front desk was super quick and helpful in getting us checked in late at night. They had the classic continental breakfast and it was pretty good. Had a good stay there before heading to Yosemite National Park.
Much better than I expected! My husband booked the hotel, and I thought it would be one of those old and stinky hotels, however to my surprise it was very nice and apparently renovated, more modern and confortable. I love it! The only thing was for breakfast there werent many options, but it wasnt bad.
Friendly staff and clean hotel! Big rooms with comfortable beds. Pool and hot tub was kept clean. No vending machine for snacks but they do have a drink vending machine. Overall, a great hotel. Only thing that was bad was their free breakfast. Frozen omelets with horrible cheese in the middle. Toast does not fit in toaster and one side of the toaster is broken. Tiny small cups for drinks. Only giving it 4 stars because the breakfast is horrible

This hotel should be refurbished, the room is spacious and very clean, and the stay is very comfortable. The breakfast is a simple American breakfast, which should be free of charge, but there is an option to pay extra on the Ctrip platform.

All staff was welcoming and friendly. The rooms were clean and the added space for a love seat to sit and relax after a long hike is awesome. A staff member went above and beyond in mailing a few bracelets to us when my daughter left them behind. The staff member contacted us and let us know that she was going to do this for my daughter. While the bracelets were inexpensive the initiative that this staff member took is priceless. This is greatly appreciated. I highly recommend staying at this location if you are viewing to visit nearby.
I was very pleased with my stay at Yosemite Southgate Hotel. I was greeted by a wonderful front desk assistant and checked in. She gave me all the details I needed to know as well answered all my questions. I was not expecting the room layout. It was very convenient, very spacious, and comfortable. Good size fridge for my long stay, many many towels for all uses. Large bathroom and sink area, makeup for the ladies. Comfortable pull out couch sofa. Breakfast was based and hearty. The hot tub was open and a wonderful relaxing release after a long days work. Fantastic location and a stay I will do again. Thank you for the hospitality.
The hotel was recently updated from floor to ceiling. All the fixtures in the bathroom, as well as the furniture were new. Everything is now set up with plenty of USB connections and plenty of outlets.The room and hotel in general is clean and well taken care of.Although everything has been updated, it still is an older building so the rooms are not sound proof. You can hear talking from adjoining rooms.The hotel is located behind Dennys of you are having difficulty finding it.

Customer service was great and even put me next to the side door for easy access to room.The room itself was awesome. They were clean, I felt comfortable, and I felt safe where I was staying at. Bed was fine and room was very spacious. Im unsure how this place is only a 2 star hotel because compared to other 2 stars I stayed at, this place blows it out of the park.My only complaint is that the ac/heater unit didnt work but I had extra blankets so it was no biggie. Plus Im sure they would have switched me rooms or got it working for me.If I come back to yosemite Im staying here 100%
The room was very clean and spacious. Had a king size bed that was extremely comfortable. Very friendly staff and ended up falling in love in North Fork over all in general. Such a magical place and friendly locals. The complimentary breakfast wasnt anything special but there are plenty of amazing local restaurants with great food to try out so just make plans to eat out. 10/10. Will come back.

We stayed here for a couple of nights when visiting Yosemite on our roadtrip and couldnt be happier. The hotel is in a fantastic location near to the south etnracne of Yosemite and is in a small town with a great selection of local restaurants and shops.The room was incredibly spacious, modern and clean! We were super happy with the room we were provided. Plenty of parking was also available and free for guests use.The facilities at the hotel were fantastic! Ice and vending machines were available throughout and there is an outdoor swimming pool and hot tub which can be used until 22:00. It was great to end the day in the hot tub and relax after a busy day of walking.Breakfast was included and available each morning - a reasonable selection of cereals, juices, coffess, fruit and toast which set us up for the day.The staff were all really polite and friendly and happy to answer any questions.

Absolutely beautiful, safe and comfortable place to stay. Updated, well kept, staff were wonderful. Pool and spa were a must for our kids and did not disappoint. Room set up was fantastic loved the separate food area, larger fridge & how the vanity was outside the bathroom. Everything was great, would recommend & stay again.
Construction finished since last visit, much easier to navigate to the hotel. Free breakfast was ok, quite cramped getting to the food and drinks. Check in was good.Huge room, reasonable price, not much outside noise even in room facing the street. Very difficult to find the entry at night, cones and construction blocks the normal entrance. Had to call and find out that I should enter just south of the Dennys. Would have been nice to know this ahead of time.
I had a wonderful stay at Southgate Yosemite. My king room was spacious, very clean and such a nice rest after a 14 hr drive. Staff was so kind and the night shift kept an eye on my van parked out front, which gave me great peace of mind as I was traveling to several states. Great place, wish I would have stayed more days!
Staff were friendly and overall the room was fine. Hotel is in a great location near to Grand Canyon, Breakfast you have to pay for which was fine but I will say my only real issue was cleanliness, or rather lack of it. The bath was plugged while taking a shower and the shower head was dirty and needing cleaned. There was dust everywhere especially behind the television. We went to plug in our Fire Stick (which we couldnt do) and there was an inch of dust behind it then there were the yellow stains on the pillow case. Im sure it was cleaned but to put that on someones bed is not good, it should have been discarded or used for rags.
Stayed here for the night with my wife and her friend.. This place was very clean and well upkept. I partook in the Steam room and sauna which was Amazing and refreshing.When I return to Yosemite I will absolutely stay at Southgate hotel and spa. Room rates at my time were amazing. Staff were nice and professional.

Its hotels responsibility to keep their own website information accurate and updated. They are not pet friendly despite the website says they are. When checked in, I told the front desk guy we are two person plus a dog. He checked me in but later on told me they are not pet friendly. Man! Good seems now they updated their website finally.
What a pleasant surprise!! we came expecting a small, outdated inn thats common near national parks but this one blew the competition away! its got great amenities- pool, hot tub, steam room, coffee, bagged breakfasts. The room was clean nd spacious. Friendly staff and guests. It takes 1.5 hour to get to the main curry village parking lot in the park, but honestly worth the drive.
Friendly staff, we stayed for 1 night only, but everything looked to be on the right spot. Dennys restaurant just infront of the hotel, good for us because we were tired. They can improve the breakfast option in the hotel becuase that was the only thing i did not like much. Everything else 5 starts.
Way too expensive for what they offer. Room was nice but absolutely not worth a $250 premium a night. About the breakfast, just remove it as it was my worst ever. Frozen omelettes that you can microwave, old bread and no fresh produce… come on!

Perfect location if you are going to Yosemite. The entrance is about 45 min. away on South side. The hotel staff are very helpful and friendly. The room we stayed in, the breakfast area, the lobby, the pool, the bathrooms were all clean. We had an incident on the third day where the front hotel sign by the parking lot had fallen on our rental vehicle and damaged it due to high winds that morning. We didnt see it happen, but when we walked out from the hotel the parking lot where our rental vehicle was parked, there was a note taped on the windshield stating that our vehicle is damaged due to a sign falling on it and that we can file a claim through their insurance. I was impressed by them that they took responsibility. Thank you Southgate Staff!!
Nicely located hotel near the southern gate of Yosemite valley.Tidy and clean room. Good amenities and yummy fresh breakfast.They also have gym, sauna and swimming pool.The vicinity has so many dining options plus supermarkets.I personally prefer this area if you are visiting the valley compared to the western gate.
Spacious room. Helpful front staff. My only complaint is when housekeeping came in our room they opened the windows and left them open. We were on the ground floor and too many personal electronics were visible from the window. Also the temperature was no longer regulated by the AC.
As soon as I walked in, and saw my room, very impressed, better than some big name hotels, here they provide a refrigerator, microwave, long leg rest pillow. Its a pretty room too, accent colors. Etc
The transportation is convenient, the room is hygienic, and it is located on the side of the highway. There are not many dining places nearby. As a must pass from the south of Yosemite, it is quite satisfactory as a stop on the way.
We had an absolutely lovely stay here. We were honestly surprised by not only how spacious, modern and comfortable the rooms were, but also by the excellent service. The amenities were also brilliant - plenty of towels, extra blankets, kitchenette, fridge, safe, coffee machine, shampoo, body wash, hair drier, iron, even moisturiser! Lots of plug sockets and USB points too. We also barely heard any noise from other guests, and the location is excellent to get to Yosemite (takes 1.5 hours to get to the valley which is the fastest you can probably find outside of the national park!)Breakfast was simple but plentiful (bagels, cream cheese, yoghurt, cereals, coffee and tea).We loved it so much, we extended our stay and the staff were happy to accommodate this. And all for such a reasonable price.
It is an ordinary lodging.The room is spacious, but it is difficult to expect amenities.Breakfast is very minimal, so those expecting breakfast may be disappointed.
Just arrived and canceled a 5 night stay. We left our original card at home. That’s on us but the reaction to our service animal and the demeanor of the staff wasn’t sitting well enough to switch cards. She went as far as saying the service animal certainly were useless and didn’t matter since anyone can get them. Was pretty eager to “cancel this right now” when the question of why the full amount was due on site instead of on card which was again on us for not seeing it in fine print but once again leading with the not so shining demeanor.
Staying at the Yosemite Southgate Hotel Suites for our first time was okay at best. The room that we stayed in was clean. The bed wasn’t that comfortable though, being stiff and firm. The last night we stayed, there was a group of motorcycles that arrived towards the closing hours of the office, which is 10pm. They were loud and disruptive, not taking other guests into consideration. They stayed in the room next to ours, being loud with their conversations and movements. We attempted to call the front desk, but the office is closed after 10pm and no one is around. The disruptive guests didn’t quiet down until after 1am. After we checked out, we saw a sign that said to call management after hours on a special phone that was outside of the office. It was very frustrating to see that as it would have been more useful if posted within the room.Another thing that was misleading was their advertisement that they’re located 12 miles from Yosemite National Park. In fact, the motel is located 12 miles from the gate of Yosemite National Park. Yosemite Valley, where all the sites are, is actually an hour away. Thankfully we scoped everything out the day before we planned to explore Yosemite, saving us from wasting time. If you stay here, I recommend giving yourself plenty of time to get settled in and to see the sites.

The room had an office desk (very convenient when using a laptop), 2 sinks (kitchen and barhroom), large enough for 3 people. And the floors ice machine was working. Other hotels have the floors ice machine disabled and only the top floor is working, probably to discourage its use. This hotel is one of the best, price vs amenities. I do recommend it. The breakfast starts at 5:00AM but you can go even ~10 minutes earlier, to enter Yosemite park before 6:00AM, for free. You warm the cold omlet in the microwave, have the coffee from the machine (keep pressing the button until the cupis full), yogurt, fruits, etc.And in the parking lot, we bumped into 3 beautiful deers, priceless.
It was a clean hotel. Room was spacious and comfortable. The only reason why I gave them 4 ⭐ is because the staff could be more welcoming and helpful. Although the lady serving breakfast was absolutely inviting! Be sure to tip her. She always has a smile and willing to help.Front desk could do with a little training on customer service. There are 3 modern hotels less than 200 feet away. Choose wisely.My wife loves the rustic cabin feel more than I.On the plus side there are many restaurants near this location. Anything from out of this world BBQ, Thai, Chinese, Italian, brewery and a Dennys on the grounds.Next visit we will be sure to stay a few days in the valley and a few days in Oakhurst.
Very clean updated hotel. I really liked the different room layout from the standard one youve seen a thousand times. Rooms are larger than normal. Check-in and check-out quick and very friendly staff. I highly recommend Yosemite Southgate!

Loved the rooms and amenities. We thoroughly enjoyed the sauna and steam room and look forward to using the hot tub and pool tonight after our day of hiking. Everything felt luxurious. Everything except the breakfast. Our second day here and they were completely out of oatmeal (our favorite vegan option) and their eating area despite having empty seats felt cramped and crowded but they made it easy with trays for us to just take our food back to our room. Overall loved the hotel but wish there were more breakfast options.

We LOVE our stay in Yosemite Southgate hotel and suites! It only took us within 30 minutes to get to Yosemite South Entrance. We booked King Mini Suite, and its spacious and extremely clean. Compare to other hotel nearby, the room price was reasonable and overall it exceeded our expectation. I already recommended to my friends after checking in! The air conditioner in our room made noises when it turned on, but not that loud and it didnt bother our sleep. Overall, well definitely be back again when we revisit Yosemite! :D

This was my second stay at this hotel. I stayed there along with my family. Our stay was just awesome. The hotel staffs are amazing. I found them to be very polite, well-mannered and responsive. The room was quite spacious with pretty much everything you need like Microwave, Refrigerator, AC, hair dryer, 2 beds, sofa, etc. When we requested for extra towels, they promptly provided it. Even the breakfast has improved significantly compared to my last stay there. There is some renovation work going on in the lobby but that did not lead to any distraction. Overall we have great time and come back again

My husband and I loved this hotel. Perfect location to stay when visiting Yosemite. Extremely clean, room was large, bed was very comfortable. Nice microwave and fridge with freezer, large TV. Great price considering location. Super nice and helpful staff at the desk. We would 100% stay here again.
I travel to yosemite very often. I’m there about 1/3 of the year. I typically don’t stay in oakhurst because it’s a little further than I prefer from the yosemite entrance. This last time I booked a room/suite here and I might have a different opinion on things. This place has an amazing room and at a great rate. I didn’t get to check out the pool/hot tub… but that is an amenity. The room I got also had a pull out bed. Oakhurst is actually a great place to stay because of all the nearby food and groceries. The parking lot has a denny’s that neighbors it. Helpful for when you get back from hanging out in Yosemite all day and not many places are open. Some new places open up the street. I recommend saving your money and staying here. You’re going to get more for your money.
I bought the “family suite” for my two kids and my husband and I, and it was just like every hotel room as in it had two queen beds. Didn’t feel like a “suite” at all. Followed by the smell in the room was like mold or old BO. It was really rancid. Paid $650 for two nights, but ended up leaving after one due to just how uncomfortable the room was. Couldn’t get refund, just bad all the way around. Do not recommend.
Be prepared for Worst customer experience.With confirmation for 2 queen bed for 3 adults, after long hiking we have to wait in lobby for 2 hours and provided room with one King size bed for 3 adults.Their are unexperienced and with no intend to fix the problem.

It was a nice stay and spacious room. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The shower wasnt as nice as youd expect for the room or the price, and the fitness center was mediocre at best. Its nice that they had a sauna, but this, and the center were quite small.
The hotel was clean in general. Why do I give it only 2 stars:1. The WiFi just didn’t work most of the time. When it worked, it would last only for about 3 minutes and disconnect.2. We stayed on the 2nd floor. Whenever someone walked upstairs, we could hear loud squeaking sound from the ceiling and foot steps. Very annoying. Maybe the hotel is too old.
If you happen to be in Oakhurst this is by far the best place to stay. Our family checked into this hotel by chance and boy arent we happy that we did. Such amazing staff, rooms were clean and large enough to play a football match. The beds were large and linen was clean and home keeping was prompt in cleaning the room and linen. I would suggest anyone in the area to check the place. Its worth it.

Very clean. I used Clorox wipes on light fixtures, bathroom and all surfaces with little to no dirt. Sheets and towels were fresh with fluffy pillows. Easy to find on Hwy 41, next to Dennys. Front staff were mostly friendly. Quite, good size rooms, but if youre walking down the hallways, you can hear people in their rooms. Cons: 2 stars - Breakfast included, but they have some militant staff here, you have to be out exactly at 1000, some lady was counting down the minutes. If you ask for pillows or towels, its like pulling teeth. I felt like the older lady thought I was going to steal the towels or something.
My family really like this place. The room was nice and clean. Also Ms Amber at the front desk was very helpful, accommodating and professional. I would highly recommend this place.
Using a COVID-19 rule as an excuse, the hotel cut off all services to bare minimum, the advertised room rate with free breakfast and coffee 24 hours in the lobby didn’t even exist, they should have taken these items out instead of misleading the consumers, the Best Western we stayed in San Diego prior to this hotel provided grab-n-go breakfast, they also delivered fresh towels and toiletries to our room by request. This hotel wants us to take the dirty towels to the front desk to exchange, they make us specify each item of the toiletries, how many packs of coffee and sugar. They cut all the services and amenities but not the price, I definitely will not come back nor recommend this hotel.
Rooms were large and clean, very comfy bed, it was quiet and nice. Theres a brown bag for breakfast with some yogurt, bagel & cream cheese. Service was great.
The beds were uncomfortable, very hard. And for those who like hard beds I mean they were hard in a bad way, not a good way. The staff were borderline rude. I mean they weren’t nice. It’s like they hated to be there and did NOT value us as customers. I felt like I was their PROBLEM. They did NOT seem pleased at all to take care of any of our needs. They had overboard obsessions with COVID and refused to clean our room although we stayed many nights. They would not even pick up our used towels and wash cloths. We had to personally haul our own towels and wash cloths down before they would give us a new towel or wash cloth. I will say this. The rooms were nice as far as they were very big and they had a great set up for applying makeup. The rooms had new nice countertops and seemed to be very clean when we arrived.
The room is very clean and comfortable. Duo to the national park parking reservation change, it is possible to arrive at the south gate before 6 am, which takes a 35-60 minutes to drive.
We had a very bad experience. Very disappointed with the management. The property has many issues. The electronic keys of the door stopped working every now and then and I had to take the keys to the reception to get those recharged every time. The manager was not at all nice with me and he was rude at times.My friend had major issues with AC in his room. The bathrooms are poorly designed, there is no sink inside. Feels like an old 19th century hotel. Breakfast was awful.The fitness room is overrated, it does not qualify for a standard fitness room at all. I dont recommend this hotel. You dont get the bang for the buck. We will never stay at this hotel.

The staff at Southgate was fantastic. They were very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. The rooms were clean and nice. The only negatives I have with this hotel is the hot tub was way too hot and the continental breakfast choices were very few with the only hot item offered being waffles. I would stay at this hotel again and thought it was a good value.
Room was exceptionally clean, lady at front desk was very nice, and this was pretty close to the Yosemite entrance. They also took great care with Covid precautions. My husband and I really enjoyed our stay here. Thank you!
Overall this was a great and convenient place to stay. It was close to the south gate entrance to Yosemite which allowed quick access to the village and valley and shuttles and almost everything we wanted to see on a quick day trip. Some negatives: only one washer and dryer, hot tub jets were weak, breakfast was okay but disappointing. Positives: large room with extra sink in kitchenette area, plenty of counter/desk space, pool and hot tub, laundry on premises. Overall pleasant stay!
The staff of this hotel set the bar very high on customer service. I had a billing issue because of Booking.com for a recent trip that I called to see if they could help their hands were pretty tied but they were very kind. I thought Id have to keep fighting with Booking.com to get it straightened out. Little did I know the hotel staff and management continued to think of us and continued working on it . They found a work around and called us back. This mommas heart was so so blessed by their diligence and thoughtfulness.
My fiancé and I stayed here in May (2018) for one night for a two day Yosemite trip on our vacation. Personally I was a little disappointed in the price $220/tax for the hotel one night, but that’s the average rate in May. For the price this one offered the most modern and updated room and hotel. The room was honestly way larger and more impressive in person. The photos online don’t give it justice. We both were very disappointed we couldn’t stay in the room more. We only stayed to sleep so we could enjoy Yosemite. We checked in around 02:00 the front desks was so nice and polite even stayed to joke and talk before dragging our luggage into the room. Didn’t get the breakfast because we didn’t have time, but We’re coming back in Aug. 2019 for a week and this will be our top pick! To the Management and Staff keep doing great work truly loved our stay. To some on considering stay do it!
Renewed and quite sizable room, well priced! Friendly counter staff. Convenient location for foods, drinks and drink - right before you head into Yosemite! The only drawback is the breakfast - suggest to have some hot food like scrambled eggs, sausage, etc. then this hotel would be a home run! We ended up having nearby MacDonald for additional breakfast for kids.Highly recommended!
Enjoyed our stay at this hotel, were only going to spend one night here but ended up staying three nights. The front desk staff are great! Were very helpful and kind about answering our questions about the area and when I needed help printing out boarding passes for our flight home, they very graciously helped me out. Would definitely return to this place. Rooms were spacious and clean!
I dont tend to leave a lot of reviews so that should say a lot as someone who travels consistently for work. This place is great! Clean rooms, close to everything and its right down the road from Yosemite.
WiFi signal didnt reach our room (didnt work on a iOS device, android device, or a google device), so I had to sit in the lobby to get a strong enough signal and use the internet.One member of staff I told about this issue said it was because they had a new internet provider (this wouldnt affect WiFi signal strength). Another member of staff I spoke with about this issue said they would call their IT about the issue, but of course, I never received any response or follow-up. I could tell the front desk staff wasnt concerned about the issue.I wasnt told at check-in that they werent doing any housekeeping (presumably because of COVID?), so I had to find that out the hard way when I returned to my room at the end of the day. When I went to the front desk to get new towels, they said I had to go back to my room and get old towels to exchange them - would have been nice to know this at check-in (or even better, have a staff member offer to bring fresh towels to my room, in exchange for used ones).The water dispenser near the vending machine on the first floor was frequently out of water.Otherwise my stay was good - but this is 2021 - I expect any hotel I stay in thats charging more than $200 per night to have WiFi that reaches every room - especially when cell service is spotty in the area as well.This was my second (and last) time staying here. At the end of a day hiking in Yosemite, when I want to plan out my next day, the last thing I want to do is have to go sit in the lobby to use the internet. Thats not acceptable.

Really nice hotel here. I got in at around 1 in the morning on a Saturday in October. They helped me out with military discount and out me in a room right away. I was expecting something pretty low-scale, but was pleasantly surprised. The amenities were nice. Everything was clean. Breakfast was slightly lacking, but its a continental, so I wasnt expecting anything too crazy. Relatively inexpensive.
Yosemite Southgate Hotel was perfect for our group of 5 people- this room had 3 mirrors and 2 sinks which helped greatly with everyone getting ready quickly in the morning to allow us to get to the park early. Room was nicely renovated and conveniently located 20 min from the South Gate of the park. Would definitely stay here again!
Wonderful place: good spacious rooms which are very clean, well equipped and most functional for families! The staff is excellent, kind, helpful and down to earth! There is a lot of trust here so it is not so much run by rules as by kindness and trust! This is invaluable and made my family’s first visit to Yosemite a great memory!
We had a really nice stay at this hotel. Rooms are clean, big and spacious. Parking is free and it’s close to every shop in Oakhurst.Breakfast is included but it could better, adding more options to it.The price is also good for the good quality of this establishment.

I wish I could afford to stay in places like this all the time! Beautiful room that was comfortable. Check in/out was simple and the staff pleasant. The only thing I was disappointed in was the breakfast. I expected a little more than boiled eggs, muffins, toast, and cold cereal. But Id stay there again in a heartbeat!
Prices in this hotel are reasonable and there is a nice warmed swimming pool and a jacuzzi. It is situated in a nice city very close to Yosemite so its a good chice if you travel there. Breakfast is basic but gives you all you need. Coffee was great! All and all a clean and nice hotel.
First time at this hotel I googled closes hotel from chukchansi casino and it was like 15 min away front desk polite room very very clean very comfortable no complaints about anything it had everything we needed and coffee was good plenty of towels and blankets we didnt use but its nice to have rather then to call desk for anything yes I would stay again and. Refer friends and family to stay there oh they ask for lisence plate number when you register in so have it ready I had to run out in the rain to go get it.
Overall good, newly updated rooms, friendly staff. Only issue was there was either a stain or dirt on the sheets. We ended up not saying anything because it was 10pm and we were tired from hiking
We had a nice big room with one king bed, a desk work area, and a sofa. Place is a little dated. Not enough plugs for modern gadgets that need recharge. Continental breakfast is very limited. Beware of $5 per room per day resort charge, which is just another form of price increase. They are not prepaid even if you pay on early. Internet is very slow.

Ive stayed at many Yosemite area hotels and The Southgate is definitely one of the best hotels for groups or families. The staff is very hospitable. Im just impressed with the quality of the rooms and the great rates.

Without any doubt one of my favorite hotels I stayed during my Yosemite trip. Inside the hotel the rooms are completely renovated and looks like brand new. I really enjoyed staying at this location. I want to also give the credit to my wife who found this hotel while we searching for different hotels to stay. The staff is real nice and friendly. Morning breakfast is awesome. Everything was just perfect 👌🏻. The feeling was more of like home.It’s on the main highway 41 which takes you into the Yosemite valley. Small town, near by restaurants and gas station.I will definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who is visiting Yosemite National Park or surrounding for your vacation or 1 day trip. The location is close to the entrance of Yosemite and the receptionist is always friendly. The room was large and clean. Breakfast is all cold foods: your typical cereal, bread, peanut butter, oatmeal, juice. I had previously stayed across the street at the comfort Inn and they had warm waffles, eggs, and sausages for breakfast. I kind of wish there was something heartier for breakfast here right before a big day of hiking. The hotel offers discounts at some of the nearby restaurants as well, you just have to ask the front desk.

Two stars because the room was nicely decorated. However, it was not clean. There were shreds of what looked like used toilet paper all over the sofa and the floor surrounding it. Sticky residue on the table below the TV and hair all over the tub. The carpet was pulling away in the main entrance to the room and what looked like a bodily fluid stain on the comforter.The icing on the cake was the young man at the check in counter that not only was short and direct attitude wise from the beginning, but also had the audacity to ask me what my disability was, even though he admitted out loud he knew he shouldnt be asking. I shouldnt have to pull out my disability card and give a detailed history of my health issues to someone like him.Breakfast was cereal, bread, muffins and every other carb you can serve at a hotel. The only protein was hard boiled eggs. They charge you if you dont being your room key back and also put a $150 deposit hold on your room. This place screams nickle and dime. With three new hotels opening up next door to them, Id suggest checking those out instead.Update : pictures attached since you feel house keeping would have found said cleanliness issues. And your staff DID ask me what my disability was. Whether its policy or not, it doesnt mean it was adhered to.Also, I did voice my concerns with your staff. Im sorry they havent relayed this to you, but thats something you should address with them.PS: Expedia was cheaper.
This hotel was ok. Looking a bit worn and needs a facelift but clean. Staff were very friendly and check in was easy. Parking was fine. We had a mini suite which is a little misleading as it is just one room. Breakfast was sparse and coffee was basically brown hot water. Only one washer and dryer on site which is ridiculous considering the size of the hotel and guests who are hiking around Yosemite. Pool and hot tub were fine although the hot tub jets were very weak. I felt like there were ticky tacky fees: $22.24 per night for extra adult (14 yo) and $5 nightly fee. The room charges averaged $315/night with fees and taxes. Yosemite was worth it!!
Amazing hotel with everything you need. Extremely spacious rooms with all amenities you would expect, good bed, quiet rooms and friendly staff. Driving into Yosemite from Oakhurst takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes, the town it self has everything from a Starbucks to grocery store and their own brewery. The only improvement we could ask for is more healthy options for breakfast, other than that 5/5 👍
I have now been staying here for 6 weeks, despite some initial problems with one of the managers Ive decided to revise my review to 3 stars instead of 1. Most of the staff is courteous, pleasant, and respectful. The housekeeping staff has done a wonderful job maintaining my Room and have not been invasive at all. The hotel is very clean and modernized and rooms are very spacious and have adequate Room to work If you require that. The ladies behind the counter have been very nice to us and most accommodating. I actually decided to check out because of booking issues and after deliberating, myself and my team will not be returning.The floors are creaky, there is just no way around that. You will hear whoever is above you walking, and whoever is below you will hear you moving around. Wifi is terrible but that is likely the local provider and not signal strength. Ive never taken breakfast here, and it doesnt look like they serve a very hearty breakfast but Dennys is outside the front door. There are nice things in the gift shop area of the front desk, and the hotel is kept very clean. The location is suitable for my project but I will be moving my men to Mariposa for the rest of my project.This is not a bad place to stay but if you are here for a long time be prepared to be shuffled, be prepared to hear noises, and be prepared to be bottlenecked by poor internet speeds if your work requires bandwidth.Aside from that there is nothing noteworthy about this place, and dont come expecting warm hospitality, in fact the manager I dealt with is the sole reason my team and I will never return to this hotel, nor can I ever recommend to my contractors to book their hard working men here.
Wish the breakfast was better than frozen eggs that you have to microwave and pre-bagged coffee, the pillows in the rooms were very hard too and our shower drain was clogged with hair

My wife had the misfortune to need to visit a local hospital and was not discharged til the small hours of the following morning so only arrived at hotel around 5.00am. Our room was waiting for us and the front desk staff were very understanding. They readily agreed that we could sleep on beyond the usual check out time and allowed us to take coffee etc to our room as clearly we would otherwise have missed breakfast. Clean and comfortable.All I can say is the desk staff went the extra mile to make sure our needs were met. Thank you Amber and your staff. Would most definitely stay here again if in the area.
Very friendly staff from the front desk to the breakfast attendant but the ambiance was pretty disappointing for the price per night. The carpeting and walls in the hallways looked over 20 years old. Very worn down and discolored. The room itself was more recently renovated but I found it odd that there wasnt a single lamp -- only overhead bright lights.
Great place to stay if you visiting Yosemite!The breakfast want great, but considering the price and distance to the park still okay.The wifi was pretty slow so no streaming was possible.The rooms are newly remodeled and super clean! I would definitely come again :)
Love the staff. They were super accommodating and friendly. The rooms were nice and updated. They also had nice views. Keep in mind I did stay on the top floor. I would come back here
This hotel has everything you need and is close to the entrance of the park and Bass lake.The staff was welcoming and helpful. Rooms well equipped and clean.
Great hotel, very nice rooms and we even were given a balcony! We didnt expect this because we went with a Groupon and usually were given less desirable rooms. Fairly close driving distance to Yosemite and free breakfast both great perks.
Huge, and clean rooms. Very friendly, and helpful staff. The beds are nice and firm. The breakfast could be better: fewer sugary cereals, and oatmeals; adding non-sweetened cereals and oatmeals; better, stronger coffee. They should buy a waffle machine.
Reasonable price, genuinely friendly people, beds are comfortable made for quality, room is clean and kept in great condition, DirecTV included, free wifi, medium sized bathroom, enough parking, free breakfast, great price and pretty much on the main road before you drive up to Yosemite. Nothing to fancy but great to make you feel at home.
Pretty close to Yosemite very affordable extremely nice rooms. This hotel is a great I would recommend it to anyone.
The Hotel was clean, staff was friendly but the bed was almost unbearable. We asked for some help as I was up there for a Half Marathon and needed some sleep. They werent very helpful --- I guess there really isnt much they could have done. The lovely housekeeping tried everything (more than the front desk), they offered extra blankets and an extra pad. It did help some but REALLY sometimes hotels NEED TO BUY NEW BEDS - they dont last forever people!

Rooms and staff were great. The location is nice, but a little far from Yosemite. The breakfast was lacking; I would have been happy with at least some decent coffee and a packaged Danish. The gym was almost non-existent.

This place just went through a major renovation and the place feels clean and new. The rooms were very large. The pool was closed because it wasnt summer yet. The breakfast was mediocre. It was close to some good restaurants though. It is quite a drive to the Western Gate where most of the tourist spots in Yosemite is (e.g. Yosemite Valley). Its probably about an hour drive through the park.
The room was a good size and very clean, they offered a light breakfast every morning which was nice and there was someone at the front desk 24 hours of the day. The location was perfect about 20 minutes away from Yosemeties southgate entrance and the small town had supermarkets a small movie theater which gave us discounts for staying at the hotel, and various types of restaurants.
Decent hotel with wifi and the only elevator in town. The complimentary breakfast was pretty underwhelming, with no hot food besides toast, and the wifi was inconsistent at best. Other than that, pretty standard hotel experience that gets the job done.
The room was very large, with a kitchenette. The front entrance looks like it was remodeled recently. Nice Small lobby. The cons: the iron in our room had some burned goo on it, the water is kinda yellowish, the Wi-Fi SUCKS! The room walls/ceiling are thin, you can hear other rooms, Doors closing people walking hand kids yelling! We stayed 2 nights, just enough time. I recommend this hotel...if there is nothing else near or in Yosemite.
Rooms are clean, but very worn and in serious need of attention. The breakfast is mediocre at best. But, the staff is super friendly and helpful. Didnt use the gym or pool. Great location for a cess to Yosemite.

2023-11-13 02:24:08I was blown away by this hotel. From the from front desk staff to the actual room, it was perfect. The room was spectacular for this solo traveler, the microwave and refrigerator were an absolute game changer. Overall, five stars, but the location was 3 stars, just because of how long it takes to get to the Valley. But, for the price and the customer service, this is THE place to stay in Oakhurst!

2023-10-06 19:35:475 star amenities at 2 star prices. Yosemite travelers- stay here! Can’t say enough good thing about this place. Clean rooms. Comfy beds. Hot shower. Friendly staff. I’d recommend venturing out for your own breakfast as options were limited but it was everything we needed to get up to glacier point early. Room equipped with mini fridge/freezer and microwave. I found AC and shower pressure to be satisfactory for a relaxing stay! 10/10

2023-10-30 00:42:54My stay was great. Staff were friendly and welcoming. After long hikes in the park, it was nice to relax in the sauna and jacuzzi. Theres ample parking and restaurants that are close by. Bed was really comfortable and nice amenities in the room.

This is in an ideal location to explore the Yosemite national park. My only regret is that we didnt book to stay longer. I would highly recommend this place

2023-11-13 03:02:02We stayed at the Yosemite Southgate hotel for 3 nights in October. The proximity to Yosemite was great. The hotel is also close to several restaurants in Oakhurst which was convenient.The room was spacious and clean. The hotel was sold out the nights we were there, and yet it was quiet.I booked our stay on the hotel’s website and got an excellent deal. I would highly recommend the Yosemite Southgate hotel.

2023-10-02 18:35:58Ideal location for Yosemite; about 20minutes drive to the park’s ticket booth. Plenty of restaurants around. The room was spacious for two queen beds. Plenty of parking but avoid parking in Dennys parking lot or you will be towed. The amenities are great. Our room came with a freezer/fridge, microwave, extra sink, coffee maker, hair dryer, and iron/board. If you want daily room cleaning, you must tell the staff each day prior. Only cons are Shower water pressure is too weak and individual air con unit didn’t keep the room cool at night. Would stay again! Staff are great! Breakfast is decent.

They serve complimentary breakfast which was quite nice, they have eggs and sausage, oatmeal, granola, fruit etc.As always in the US, they use single use plastics which I dont like, but otherwise everything was great.There is also a gift shop, sauna and swimming pool.

2023-07-31 14:38:02This was by far the best hotel we stayed at during our week long trip! The staff was helpful, courteous and professional. All of the amenities are awesome; pool, wet sauna, dry sauna, full breakfast each morning, gift shop with a huge selection and very reasonable prices! Our room was HUGE, sparkling clean and very comfortable. It was so peaceful and quiet and the hotel is centrally located so there were lots of dining options within walking distance.Weve noticed that at most hotels these days, you wont have a fridge, or iron and sometime not even a coffee maker but Yosemite Southgate Hotel had all that and a microwave too!We were very pleased with our stay & we would DEFINITELY stay here again.

This hotel is totally a hidden gem.Would rather stay here than the Holiday Inn or Hampton inn next to Southgate.Only issue is the WiFi... Continuously disconnect ever few minutes. Totally a joke.Other than that, I have no other complaints.

2023-11-08 00:45:03If I could give zero stars I would. We arrived late Friday night and realized the bathroom had a strong mold smell. As soon as we woke up on Saturday we went to the front desk to ask if we could get a different room, they said yes but that we would have to check out of our current room first and then check back in at 4. We told them we had an event that afternoon and we needed the room to get ready. They said they couldn’t guarantee that a room would be ready in time. The manager was incredibly rude. To add to all of this, the breakfast was awful. We ended up booking a different hotel and leaving immediately. Horrible customer service, I will never stay here again.
