Thought they remodeled the location recently. The restaurant is now pretty good, the food looks great, taste good, priced ok.The chicken curry... be honest, is quite dry. But the bulgogi is good. Guess you are supposed to order Korean food in Korean restaurant.

Came here for an early-ish dinner around 6pm luckily there was no wait for seats. The inside is quite small and there arent that many tables. It seems like that had some renovations since the last time I came since the interior design looks more modern. We were seated on the very inside and the menus are on the table already.We ordered the combos because they seemed more worth the money. We got C9 ($23.99) and C11 ($29.99). The C9 was the katsu with tofu soup and I went with the beef tofu soup and chicken katsu. As for C11, I got the beef and seafood tofu soup.The food was served after about 10 minutes and they all arrived around the same time. The chicken katsu was a lot better than I expected- it was nice and crispy but not dry on the inside. The coleslaw on the side was also pretty good.The bulgulgi bibimbap was good and had a large portion which I did not expect since it was a combo. It had good flavor and authentic tasting.The tofu soups were pretty good as well, but the portion did feel a bit small. They did taste great though. They also come with rice with the option of choosing brown nice, which I appreciate.Overall, it felt like such a steal for dinner even though we ordered combos. I thought the portion would be very small but they were all almost regular sized portions. Very worth it! I would recommend getting combos to try different dishes.

It comes with your choice of rice underneath the chicken. This places is always a hit. It’s the closest Korean place that my husband and I enjoy. We have our go to orders which are the beef noodle (basically japchae) and the rice with bulgogi beef in hot stone pot. The servings are huge and we never finish them.

So tender is the young dong.Look, is the sundubu jjigae as legendary as Beverly Soon Tofu (RIP)? Probably not. But the kindness of the staff, ease of access/parking, and the solid galbi/bulgogi combos make it a worthwhile visit. We were nearby and ventured in with our 2 and 3yo (gasp!), and the staff couldnt have been kinder or more accommodating to us. Banchan is maybe a 6.5/10. Anyone looking for a satisfying soon tofu will not be disappointed.

A big lot for parking, friendly staff, and delicious food!!They remodeled and it’s redecoration looks nice and cleaner!Ordered the beef tofu soup and it was delicious (mild spice with brown/purple rice)!! Their banchan (side dishes) are really good too. My fav are the bean sprouts, spicy cucumbers, and kimchi!!It’s now $15.90 for just tofu soup and rice.

January 2023 - Party of 2, Thursday night around 6pm. Already packed! We snatched up one of the last few tables.Food/Pricing - For the price, the beef quality and taste wasnt up to par. The octopus dish wasnt what we expected either. It was too mushroom-y and more sweet spicey than tasty. I will say overall the food is usually good, the service is a hit or miss. I’ve dined here numerous times over the years and it is my favorite tofu soup place. My usual dishes are kimchi tofu soup and either bulgogi or short ribs. I’ve ordered their soup from the least to spiciest and don’t find their spiciest to be spicy.Something I wanted to say about this establishment is one time after finals week a friend and I decided to treat ourselves to some tofu soup. After we paid and were walking to our car a lady runs out shouting “That’s it, that’s it!?” demanding more tip money. This incident has me hesitant to dine here any further because not only was it degrading but also embarrassing as she was yelling it from the front of the store until she caught up with us. The incident turned a pleasant meal into an anxious episode.On a separate occasion I had been dining with someone who received sour soup (it’s never had a sour flavor in the past). They remade the soup which turned out fine.

They have done a remodel inside and seemed to be owned by different people and I was worried the food quality went down. But the soup is still delicious!! The rice (I loved the multigrain) is different. Just ok. You don’t carve it out of the stone bowl anymore they do. Which makes it look like it was sitting there for a while but the bahn Chan and the food is still tasty and I don’t miss their previous rude staff. Oh and only one kind of beer now but I don’t mind! As long as everything is tasty

Food is flavorful, has good portions, and is very affordable. Overall service has been good, except one time out of more than 11 dinners. By the way, my favorite boba place is close dstance from the tofu restaurant (see my other reviews). Our fam kills two birds at once when Im in the area, lol! 😆Parking lot can get packed, with patience, you may find a spot fairly quick.

First walk in you can feel the great ambience for the tofu house. I love the decoration as well. So, starting with the service, they have a good service also helping to recommend the food. The kimchi and seaweed salad is so good! Pork belly and spicy pork is also taste great. I love it. Quick service. For the condiments they use bamboo chopsticks rather than traditional stainless steel Korean chopsticks but its fine for me. Overall this place is great. Worth to try.

I am truly disappointed at the food. We ordered octopus bibimbap in a stone pot. With a price of almost $30, the octopus is so little! It was not even cleaned thoroughly, and there was 3 octopus scales when I was eating! Most things you get are mushroom and onions! Not octopus! And its super sweet! I’m so mad at its shocking sweetness! It’s not authentic at all!! No authentic Korean food should ever have that much onions and sweetness! I understand cuisines always get adapted and localized. But the flavor is just too bad! I feel sad about getting something so bad when craving for authentic Korean food.

My family and I ordered three different combos with tofu soups and one of them was the fried pork with cabbage. The fried pork actually were two different fried pieces put together because one part was darker fried and the other part lighter fried. The lighter pieces were kind loose (i.e., the fried skin and the meat and look less appetizing). My kids only ate the darker fried pieces and didnt touch the light color pieces. They were just not consistent quality. I am quite disappointed that they would give us a poorly cooked dish, and this was very disrespectful. We used to come here on a regular basis; but after this bad experience we dont plan on coming back. We are done with this place.

This is the best place for Korean food in the San Gabriel Valley! I think you could probably get some more authentic, especially the experience of cooking the meat yourself, and delicious Korean food in Koreatown for a bit more money. But for sure, this is my go-to place anytime I have a hankering for Korean food. Flavors and quality are always consistent and I enjoy the fact that everything comes to you already prepared.

A LOT of food for one order! Their portion is ridiculously huge. If you are craving Korean food and starving to death this is the place to eat your brains out. We ordered their Bulgogi Beef (C2), Spicy Chicken (C4), and Bulgogi Hot in Stone Pot and Tofu (C11). The chicken was not too spicy and you choose how spicy you want it. Everything tasted great and the staff were nice. Recommend!

Food is not bad so I won’t give one star but…not sure about service. I ordered take out yesterday and had my parents to pick up. My mom told me after she paid the bill and she grabbed the food, she walked towards to the door and realized she couldn’t open the door with her hands full so she turned back and asked the server if they could open the door for her. The lady said “ No ! Just push!” …..………….So rude. She also mentioned about the maybe they were not happy about the tips but she did tip the restaurent even though we didn’t dine there. Reading other reviews some about tipping as well- I know it is hard to work in a restaurent but who would be willing to pay any tips if the service is actually bad?

We have come here a couple times a year for the last several years. Good consistent barbecue and tofu soup. They even have Pork Katsu which the kids love. This place is generally always busy so we try to go during non-peak hours. Even then its still crowded. The parking lot is small during peak hours.

* Selection/Price— This place has a great selection of Tofu soups from beef to seafood.They offer multiple dishes as well as meal combos (tofu soup + entree).They also have side orders if you’d like Spicy Korean Rice Cakes (Ddeokbokki), steam dumplings and the like.Soda comes in cans, but they provide you a paper cup with ice to pour it in— straw included.Be prepared to clear out the table of your personal belongings because the food tends to be served on multiple or large dishes, plates, and bowls.I got the steamed dumplings (2/5) - It was cold when it arrived and definitely didn’t taste how I had expected.The picture on the menu showed dumplings in a steamer basket, so I expected piping hot dumplings, so this was disappointing, unfortunately, but the rest was good.I also got the Chicken Katsu curry and it did not disappoint.The curry was $17.99 and was plain (it just came with the Katsu, rice, and curry— no potatoes or anything else cooked in).It was HUGE.It came with about a cup and 2/3 rice, flattened and two big servings of chicken curry (see picture).The curry was great and wasn’t salty— it was perfect for me.The rice was cooked really well, soft but there was texture. Just ate here today. We were trying to celebrate my daughter’s graduation. Server was rude. She didn’t like my tip. She asked for a higher tip. I told her that I can’t afford 10% and that I can only give what I can. She said, “I’m sorry and I am sorry for you.” Don’t eat here if you want to be shamed publicly in front of other patrons. Not an authentic Korean restaurant. More of a Chinese influenced Korean restaurant. The soon tofu uses instant Ramen stock. All the flavors are off aimed more at Chinese palates.If you dont know or care if the restaurant is Korean and want the most food for the money. This is your place. The good Korean restuarant in SGV that I approve for authentic Korean food. The servers were all very efficient and polite. I love their side dishes. The tofu soup was a bit sweeter than my taste but some people might like or get used to it here in LA. But stillI prefer this place over many other K food in this area.

Since my workplace is near this restaurant, I have been going there for 8 years. However, due to the pandemic, it has been taken out only for the last two years. However, I thought it was about time, so I went last week and dine in. After all, unlike taking out, there was satisfaction. And I went again today and asked for a container because I couldnt eat it all. Then the waiter said he would charge $1.50 for the take-out container. I said ok, but the waiter didnt bring it, so I asked another waitress to bring it to me. Ive been to a lot of restaurants so far, but Ive never had to charge a takeaway container, which is disappointing. Its a shame because its a restaurant with good taste, but I decided not to dine in here anymore.I think its better to keep in mind that you can lose customers over trifles.

Its been awhile since Ive been here but the food is still good. The prices are higher but thats true everywhere else. There were many servers so you wont have to worry about having to flag people down. I appreciated that the server just gave us a second serving of the banchan without having to ask. The soon tofu are served from a smaller bowl compared to 5 years ago but the portion is just right. I got the mushroom tofu but it was a little lacking in mushroom. My husband got the bibimpap and felt that there was too much rice for the toppings provided.

Terrible service. Went for a pick up and a waitress told me that it’s not ready. I waited 10 more minutes and the same waitress told me that same thing. I went again and a different waitress came by and told me that the kitchen never got the order because the computer in the lobby isn’t connected to the one in the kitchen. I understand that, but the fact that the other waitress never even checked, the only thing she told me was that it’s almost ready and she brushed me off. Half an hour later and it’s finally ready but nobody told me. I waited for 1 hour. Every other waitress and waiter that passed me acted like I wasn’t even there.

If youre picking up, do not order through the website because youll be paying a lot more. I didnt realize the online ordering system is run by Door Dash so I paid $8 more each order than if I had called it in. There should have been a disclaimer on the website. Great place, great food, very interesting selection of tofu dishes meat seafood and vegetable combinations. Plus you are served several small sides of pickled salads and the like which they will refill for free. Its so much fun cracking the raw egg into your soup and watching it cook before your very eyes. Love the purple rice!

This place has dropped a few levels in our books which is unfortunate as it was our go to place for sudoufu. I dont mind the price increase as much but portions are so much smaller especially the protein. The chicken and short ribs are easily under half portion of what they provided before. Horrible experience, went yesterday and ordered a veggie stone pot. Specifically asked the waiter again for no beef and egg. As i am eating underneath all the vegetables are traces of beef! Absolutely horrible, they comped the meal and they offered to make me another bowl but i told them no (the only reason that i am giving them 2 stars and not one). So word of advice if you are vegetarian or vegan be very careful about the foot before you start to eat it.

It has been a while since we last dined here. Some things have changed. They no longer serve the pancake with the banchans and they no longer serve their rice in the hot stone bowls. I ordered the BBQ beef ribs. They came out on a hot plate that had no sizzle at all. The layer of raw onions didnt even cook one bit. It was warm at best. The tofu soup was good and so was the service. One other thing that bothered my family were all the flies. Please invest in some sort of bug zapper/catcher.

Nice tofu spot overall and we ate so much...because we each had a tofu soup combo (me plus bibimbap, my friend plus beef glass noodle) then we had on top of that another Korean rice cake dish. Total feast and we had a blast. The tofu soups are a little bland, but all the other dishes are quite flavorful.Its a bit hard to find parking in the plaza at peak hours and there was quite a line when we arrived around 7pm on a Saturday. But this is the only tofu house we found that is dog friendly so we stayed. There is a big outside tent that accommodates 10+ tables on top of the indoor space.

Got there around 8:00 on a Saturday night and had to wait about 25 minutes for our large group. Ordered quickly as we decided on the menu in the meantime. Food came out quickly as well. The 4 combos we got were just the right amount of food for 5 adults and 3 kids. The flavors were all delicious, but a few of the chicken and beef pieces were gristly/chewy. Service was efficient in the beginning but basically non-existent after that. Still, since everything was tasty and prices fairly reasonable, we would probably visit again.

This place is still good since maybe 1 year ago. Even though Parking sometimes has a rough time to find on the weekend, it is easy to find in the night. We got the combination of BBQ beef ribs and 2 oyster tofu as a dinner, and it is very good especially beef ribs for the quality of smoothly and freshness. For the service part, it is decent in my opinion for the quickness of serving to the customer. However, it is a little bit of pricey compared to other Korean Tofu House, and I hope they remain the same prices in a short time.Overall, I would recommend oyster tofu because oyster is fresh and delicious in my opinion. Also, I would love to try and recommend the rice with spicy octopus if I try it in the future.

It was not terrible but definitely edible. All the visuals are there but just doesnt taste very good. Gourmet vs fast food. This is on the fast food side of taste. Prices are not particular cheap for whats offered. Maybe its inflations. Have not visited BCD recently but recall BCD was much better. If you like sweet kimchi, not sure why or may be this is some kind of specialty?! go here. They do have outside parking lot seating that why I visited.

Family and I used to really like this place. The food is still very good. YD has the best soondubu and house-made Kimchi I have ever eaten. But.. the service here, while efficient, comes with no smiles, no charisma, and really no emotion. A few years ago they had a really great general manager who greeted everyone as they came in. Today I felt like it was the owners daughter who is forced to greet customers. Delicious! I heard about here from my friend in local so many times and finally paid a visit. Very authentic, way better than BCD tofu. I had two tofu soups and one combo with non spicy chicken . Had dinner at Young Dong Tofu on a Saturday night and the place was BUSY. You dont expect to wait a half an hour for a Korean tofu shop, so it must be good. Well, its fine. I had the beef and dumpling tofu soup, and while it wasnt bad, I dont think there was much more to it than a little bit of heat. Their sides are typical but still very good. Im not a fan of the rice in the stone bowl, I feel like I lose too much rice that way. I get thats how it is, but I dont get the appeal. Final verdict, Ive had better tofu soup, but if youre in the area and in the mood, its a decent stop.

I got the clam and beef tofu soup and you could really taste the clam in the soup. Id recommend just getting the clam. It was a set menu so the soup came with bulgogi which was also pretty good. Young Dong is a solid standard Korean Tofu joint, overall a 3.5. Its a good Korean Tofu place to eat at if you are in the neighborhood, but not worth traveling across town for. The restaurant is located near San Gabriel and Las Tunas in the same shopping center as 168 Market, Sam Woo, and ORiley Auto Parts. The environment is casual, loud, family-oriented, and no frills. Service is meh. The food came out within a reasonable time and they are friendly but indifferent. You will have to flag down someone for a refill of water or banchan. The restaurant is small-to-moderately sized and gets jammed packed. Even on a Friday night at about 10PM, there were only a few tables open. Seating is also cramped if you dont snag a booth. Some of the tables are essentially the dreaded community seating. In general, the food is tasty, prepared well, and good value.Spicy pork + Tofu: $18.99 and BBQ beef + Tofu: $18.99:The meat comes out on the standard sizzling plates and had good flavor. Been to a lot of Korean food places in K-town, but this is one of my favorites that are not located in K-town for tofu bowl. The only bad part is either arrive early or be prepare to wait for a while.Prices for just tofu bowls are now $9.25, but it is still cheaper than some K-town places like BCD tofu which is a popular place also for tofu bowl; lot of different selection of tofu bowl like oyster only or even dumpling. Combos are pricier of course, ranging at a max of $19 for the ribs and a tofu bowl. I would say a combo actually can feed 2, especially since it comes with salad and side dishes...but we tend to order 2 and pack it to go. Dont forget to decide how spicy you want the tofu soup and tea for your rice bowl at the end. Also to save $$$$....come for lunch since it is cheaper.Although this place is packed, services are still awesome from the Korean workers.
