Had a great time at this place (Your Place :p). Great food, service, atmosphere. One of the best Thai places in town located in a small unassuming building. I had a “hot” curry, but didn’t really notice spices at all. Tasty but not spicy. No worries there.

Great little place....nice decor. Super sweet server, attentive. We stopped in for a late lunch/early dinner. The food was fantastic!! It was fresh and served hot. The price for entrees is relative. The portions were big. The place is clean. I live in a place where typical dining out in a sit down restaurant, which makes food from scratch starts at 8-15.00$, so it was fine with us. Some reviewers complained of prices and portions. We had a great experience and will return again and again.

Totally disappointing experience! My family were in town visiting SB! I thought this place will be a great choice for being authentic where I can find real Thai. However, this place made me forget about Thai food for quite some time. Not a very clean place, the kitchen. Relatively poor service! Surprised to see they are still serving water in stained re-usable old cups. Do yourself and “Your Place” a favor: either upgrade or lower your prices. I wouldn’t pay more than 50% of what you charged us today. I am doing this favor to let people know there are much better Thai places you can try. This place is absolutely a “NO GO”!

I would HIGHLY recommend this place. My group and I are visiting from out of town and we all enjoyed our food very much. Two of us got curry dishes (panang and yellow) and the others got pad thai and drunken noodles. The staff was kind and attentive and prices were reasonable. I had yellow curry and it was some of the best Ive had.The atmosphere is cute cozy. If I lived in the area, Id be a regular here.

A top three favorite food spot in Santa Barbara… definitely #1 for Thai food. The curries are a favorite (highly recommend the Panang), as well as cashew nut chicken.Our top favorite is the Tom Kah soup, which is the best you will find anywhere! Order a large in the hot pot and you are in for a flaming treat. Easily feeds 2 as a meal, and up to 4 or 5 for an appetizer.Also the Thai Iced tea is perfect!

Delicious! Loved the papaya salad; it was such a unique and tasty flavor with a bit of sugar. The drunken noodle spicy dish with beef was also absolutely delicious and flavorful, but the beef itself was pretty low quality. The tofu pad Thai was not very good as it wasn’t very flavorful but still, the other 2 dishes were absolutely amazing.We actually ended up visiting here 3 times because the drunken noodles and papaya salad were so delicious!

I’m a big fan of Thai food and have been to this restaurant a few times over the years. Unfortunately, it continues to disappoint. If you’re looking for a good bang for buck, this is not the place. You’ll be paying top dollar for mediocre at best dishes. Don’t you dare expect the service staff to be attentive or nice.We gave this place a try again recently, just to be disappointed again. It seems the food quality deteriorated even further along with the quality of service (it’s the same servers, they’re just worse). We ordered the panag curry which came out bland and veggie free. When we communicated that we had order it prior and it was not the same, the staff shamed us, argued that we’re wrong and made it an extremely awkward situation. We ask to try the green curry which also came out watery, bland and had no veggies other than soggy old thin bamboo shoots.Don’t waste your money on this place. They clearly don’t get it.

This is the worst Thai restaurant I have ever eaten. The experience is very poor. The meat is really terrible, just like it has been left for a long time. This experience is terrible. Several people in the same trade can eat the meat problem, but the chef also said that it was no problem, and he was speechless. This store should review the quality of food.

Ive come here a total of three times throughout a 15 yr time span. First two times, the food was horrible. We did not finish our dishes. And this third time, the food was edible. But it seemed dirty, from cobwebs around the entirety of the place to the dishes looking like they hadnt been washed properly. Im honestly surprised they are still in business.

Great family run joint, the chef has been there for 35 years. been coming here since before i was born! it’s a santa barbara staple for me, i come every time i’m in town. the pad see ew, pineapple fried rice, tom kah gai, all curries, and the mango sticky rice are my go-tos. it makes me miss thailand! shout out to this wonderful family for keeping my own fed over the years

As per usual the Chicken Pa-Nang curry is delicious and one of my favorite things on the planet. It’s just such a scam though when you’re paying $18+ dollars for curry and the charge you extra for RICE. I’ve never seen someone eat curry without rice. If you need to raise prices then do that, but having RICE be extra with a curry dish is inexcusable..

Can not begin to explain how much i love this food!! The drunken noodles are a must order they are delicious and spicy! But you can always ask to make it mild spicy or less spicy or even more spicy however you like it! The orange chicken is pretty good as well, their ginger soup is the best and their thai iced tea you will fall inlove with!! Can not recommend this place enough!!

I went in for dinner solo and ordered chicken satay and a bowl of Tom ga kai (spelling?) with tofu. One of my favorite when getting Thai food. When it came it looked different than the 100’s of times I’ve had it at other place. And it was different. It was coconut milk, raw tofu and way too much of it, raw mushrooms, a few sprigs of cilantro. It had zero flavor because it was literally just thrown in a bowl. The worst. The satay was tough and was probably cooked several hours beforehand. I won’t be going back. I used to enjoy eating here years ago but it’s not at all the same.

We have eaten here for years because it is convenient - theres lots of parking. We love the atmosphere. The staff is always polite and dont laugh at our attempts at the Thai language. We mostly love the incredible food. We always order Pad Thai, Panang Chicken, a Shrimp dish, broccoli with oyster sauce is excellent. I love the Thai Iced tea as well. We love eating there in the evenings if its not crowded - otherwise, get it to go and walk. We have been to Thailand many times and I find this is authentic and delicious. A great place to meet friends as the tables have lots of room.

The best Thai food in Santa Barbara. Ive enjoyed this restaurant since 1982. In 40 years its still the best. The Thum Ka Kai has the right balance of soupy and creamy, the right amount of lemongrass, big pieces of chicken, large mushrooms, and a good amount of cilantro. The Panang curry is better than anywhere Ive tasted including in Thailand. It is not too spicy because my palette doesnt enjoy that, but is not at all bland. This curry too is creamy in texture. The crispy wontons are delicious with two sauces, the Thai tea is very satisfying and the services very attentive. Food was out on a Sunday lunch within 5 minutes.I recommend it highly!

The food is below average and prepared without love. We paid almost $60 for two simple main meals, two drinks and a dessert. The prices on the menu were listed without tax, so that was on top of it. During the payment process, the owner, a Thai woman, watched us and saw that I didnt give a tip. She then asked if I would like to pay the tip in cash, to which I replied that I did not want to give a tip because the price of the food was very high, the service was anything but outstanding, and the tax was not clearly stated. The woman then began an angry discussion in which she tried to get us to tip her 15%. When we explained to her that we are not used to this in Europe and find it excessive with the astronomical prices, she became more and more aggressive and finally left our table scolding all the other guests to turn around.Anyone who is not willing to pay a $9 tip for poor service and below average food should beware of entering this local!

Food was decent but we were greeted extremely rudely by the serving person and what seemed to be the manager of the restaurant because we asked for cutlery!! 5 of us eating here and we were served exactly 3 forks and 0 spoons / knives. Our party consisted of two vegetarians and two meat-eaters (is there a better term for this? dont say normal!). Upon arriving, we were greeted with a friendly smile and given the option to sit where we liked. The restaurant wasnt too busy, but there were enough patrons to make us think we didnt need to turn around and leave. We were all satisfied with our meals. My husband and I had an appetizer (crispy veggie rolls), veggie soup, and the house special of eggplant and tofu. Everything was well-prepared and tasty. Decor was interesting and the two fish tanks prompted an interesting discussion. Staff was friendly and efficient! Once we ordered, meals came to the table quickly. I highly recommend Your Place; Ill definitely go again when next in town.

I know this place is supposed to be wonderful, but Ive never had much luck there myself. We were just there last night for a takeout order. We were on time. The chicken as always was overcooked, and the pad thai was oddly dry. It was in the middle of the evening meal, so it shouldnt have been sitting too long. It wasnt my idea to go there and hopefully we wont go back. Cant blame it on covid, weve gotten take out from other places and its been very good.

Probably the best Thai restaurant in the Santa Barbara area. The food is good and flavorful with a quiet atmosphere. The restaurant is fairly small so I recommend going in slight off hours so you can easily get a seat. You can also order ahead of time and carry out which is great as well. My favorite dish is the beef and/or chicken curry and I highly recommend trying it.

Im not really a Thai-food connoisseur, but it was the best Thai food Ive had. I had red curry with chicken, and I was definitely satisfied. The decor was very kitschy, and I dont like Milpas in general, but it was a pleasant enough atmosphere. I have no complaints about the service—nothing remarkable, but I dont feel like I need to have a rapport with the waitstaff to enjoy dinner.

The Best Thai food in Santa Barbara! While visiting the Santa Barbara area we decided to try Your Place and were delighted with our selection. Upon being seated, a local came up to us and said that we had picked the best Thai restaurant in town; and he wasn’t wrong. This restaurant has a large menu with all of the traditional Thai dishes that you’d expect and some house specials as well. The food was delicious and we all enjoyed ourselves very much. The interior decor is a little cheap, but elegant, and featured live fish tanks. The staff was kind and accommodating and they made our visit very enjoyable. #thaifood #santabarbara

I used one of my credit cards, she went back to the kitchen and came back Asking for a different card. Because the transaction was supposedly declined. Besides the embarrassment of having to change my card in front of other clients the lady charged both cards the amount due. Check your balance and card activity on your phones when you buy food there :/ food is great, to me the best Thai food in SB, but these little mistakes are not supposed to happen in a business I can easily say they stole from me...

There was a group of 7 of us today. We were all served quickly and at the same time. The food was delicious. I had the Tom Kah soup which was fabulous. Most of the others had the lunch special, which is really reasonable. Someone got Golden Wings for our table and a few of us shared that. It was a meal in itself. Great lunch! There were only about 4 tables occupied when we got there at 11:55, but the place was packed by 12:30.

Semi Decent Thai food with terrible service. Never got checked on, left all the dirty plates between courses, No left water glass empty the entire stay. Refused to honor Yelp check in reward on Thai ice tea with purchase of entree. The duck in the curry tasted way past its expireration date. I was nauseous before I could even make it home. The food is OK, but the staff is always upset about something. They never smiled and they made us feel we were more an inconvenience than anything else. The waitress was somewhat annoyed for having to take our order. Service was so so and I decided not to leave a tip; the owner of the restaurant came demanding tip and shouted at us loudly for our decision. We were “kindly” asked to leave with an informal “get out!” Never again! There are choices out there!

This is my favorite Thai restaurant in the area! Its open a lot later than many restaurants in Santa Barbara, and theres plenty of parking around the area and in the lot. Ambiance and decor are both really beautiful and very cool, and they have many dishes that are hard to find at other Thai restaurants.My favorite thing to order here is the fried wonton appetizer. Its vegetarian, comes in a huge serving so you can share with the table, and is a delicious way to start your meal. The crispy wontons are filled with curried vegetables and deep fried, and its such a great combination of flavors with the sweet sauce.You really cant go wrong with the pineapple or spicy fried rice, any of the curries, or any of the flat rice noodle dishes. I especially love the Golden Noodles, which can be served with crispy egg noodles as well. The sauce and vegetables just work really well with the texture of the fried noodles. My favorite thing about all these dishes is that if you ask for extra spicy, theyre really not afraid to actually make it spicy, and that is one of the most valuable attributes that any restaurant in Santa Barbara can have!

In the evening it has a dark and intimate vibe. During the day it looks shabby and in need of a wash. I got grease on the back of my dress from the chair. Even the glass table tops need a better cleaning between diners. Lunch specials are fast and filling, service is very efficient, but my lunch plate was much hotter than the food on it and the small salad bowl was brought to the table sitting on top in the middle of the curry entree

This is my go to Thai place and has been for over a fifteen years; first as a college transplant to Santa Barbara then as a visitor. This is a solid Thai restaurant. They have most of the things you would expect from a Thai restaurant. I got the combo pad thai which was really tasty. The thing I like about this restuarant is they let you choose your spice level. I really like spicier food. I have had pad thai so many times where the dish tastes good but there is no spiciness to even out the sweetness. I chose a spice level of 4 (out of 5) because this was my first visit and didnt know what to expect. If I go back I will probably get a 5. Everyone at the table seemed pleased with their meals as well. If youre in the mood for Thai food this is a good option.

This food is delicious but their service is ATROCIOUS. I really wish it wasnt so because I love their food so much, but I cannot go back with a clear conscience. We went with our then-18month old daughter, and she made a bit of a mess with the fried rice (which she loved). We were going to clean it up on our own but the owner/server brought us out paper towels, a broom, and other cleaning supplies to force the point. Oh and this was after she told us that we were feeding our child incorrectly (ie letting her feed herself). I have never in my life experienced such humiliating service at a restaurant establishment. It was rather astonishing.

First time there and got take out. Had the Panang Curry with chicken along with the Pad Thai. Both were very good. Pa-nang Curry was very creamy with just a little bit of zip (we ordered mild). Lots of nice flavor. The portion size of the Pad Thai was good and equivalent to what we normally get at our other Thai favorite - Meun Thai. Your Place Panang Curry was about half the amount of curry for the same price although the amount of chicken and peppers they used was probably equivalent. Thats my main reason for not giving it 5 stars. Nothing to do with flavors or quality. Would have liked a little more curry!They were very friendly when we went to pick up and we will definitely be back.

After sifting through the Yelp Santa Barbara Thai reviews we went here today, Sunday 6/9/13. This restaurant is in a nice building in plain sight from the street and not in a strip mall. It was almost 100% full capacity when we arrived around 5 pm. Its mostly Thai but it also appeals to the generic Chinese take-out crowd with its chow mein, Mongolian Beef, WonTon Soup, Cashew Chicken, etc.Ordered the Laab/pork as an appetizer @ $9.95, it was very tasty, spicy, lots of mint, but not seeing or tasting any toasted rice powder, not really a dish worth $9.95 as for the size of the portion........daughter got the honey roast duck with a delicious plum sauce (more like a clear plum juice) on the side @ $14.95. This dish is half a duck, deep-fried and it came cut up, maybe to give the illusion of a large meal. But this portion was again not worth the price for its amount. Not much meat at all to justify $14.95 and no detectable honey in this dish. The wing was pure fried skin to a crisp with nothing edible on itSon got the sliced garlic pepper beef @ $10.95. I got the spicy mint noodles with chicken, also very good. This was probably the only meal we saw which was worth its price @$10.95.Additional critiques: All dishes were TOO SALTY. Even my two teens thought they were too salty. We love Thai food and I make it very often at home. But these meals were not Nam Pla salty, they were like table salt, salty, and it ruined the food. Most Thai food is sweet, salty, sour and spicy. But Your Places chef lacks that balance, as far as the several dishes we tried.The Laab needed the authentic rice powder, and the beef, the Laab, and the noodle dish needed less salt and more palm sugar.We had jasmine rice and we asked for rice wine vinegar, but they do not have that, which is strange for all the Asian food bases they cover here. Instead, the waitress offered us a very welcome surprise with the delicious condiment tray which is 3 separate sauces-1-Thai sweet and hot dressing, 2-pickled jalapenos, and 3- a crushed dried Thai pepper seeds. The crushed is volcanic, which was very satisfying. I use Thai birds and serranos and habeneros at home this was the hottest condiment I have ever been served. My mouth was on fire and I needed several ice water refills! lolThe service was very attentive, decor and seating cozy, with assorted Asian and Thai artifacts and art work. Its a cultural thing at some Asian establishments where they arent being rude or annoyed toward you, I think they are just caught up in their service they forget to smile! It didnt bother me.I might go back but I would them request them to dial down the heavy salt, and ask for Nam Pla on the side, and also ask for more sweetening in the dishes.

Way too hit & miss. If you order with no customization youre ok, and the food is good. If you ask for a little extra green onion and bean sprout on the pad thai and to undercook the shrimp since its to go and will keep cooking the shrimp on the way home, youre in trouble. Ive ordered 4 times, the same order, shrimp pad thai. The two times I ordered it without requesting the way I like it, it was pretty darn good. When I ask for the simplest of requests, the cook or server (family of owner or owner) takes offense and will intentionally teach you a lesson. It will be extra dry, shrimp like tiny rubber pieces and instead of extra sprouts and green onions, you will get none.Sad I have to do this, but the Yelp community needs to know. Not my place ever again, Ill stick with Your Choice and Tap from now on.
