This is one of my favorite Ramen place!The flavors of the broths are intense, unique and delicious, the portions are generous and well serve.Everyone there is very friendly and attentive!Please try the chicken tenders, very crispy and delicious.

Great food, friendly service. Wonderful addition to Davis food scene. We had ramen and chicken appetizer, and both were great. Sake selection is quite impressive for a ramen spot, too. Loved our servers, they were very busy but always found a moment to see how we were doing, and to get us whatever we needed.

This place is very popular on the weekend also there werent many seats inside so you may need to wait for more than 30mins. The price of dishes for takeout or dine-in are same, so you can try takeout as well.The menu was different than a couple years ago, which has less choices. The Katsu don was delicious, but ramen was just okay. The staff is very friendly.

This is a restaurant I go to often, but now the restaurant has become trashy because of a white male waiter and I will never go back unless this waiter quits. I waited in line for 20 minutes and when he found out I chose TOGO he told me to skip the line and go to the front of the line. But he said that the beef udon I ordered was the only thing in the restaurant that was not available for take out, which is understandable. The right thing for a waiter to do would have been to put me back in my place in line, but he chose to add me to the end of the waitlist and an additional 45 minute wait. He also said in a very poor manner, How did I know you were going to order udon? This is the first time Ive ever complained about a waiter on the platform, so you can imagine how much he sucked.

A credible source tells me that this is the best place for Ramen around. I go for the short rib rice bowls and theyre always fire also.Gyoza is an obvious choice and the beers (Sapporo, Orion etc) are a great go to.

The staff was very friendly and helpful with menu suggestions. Felt like a family run business, which I liked! I didnt realize they werent serving Yakitori when I visited, disappointed. So I got the pork donburi and Brussel sprouts appetizer. Both were good, but just not my cup of tea. Dont think I will be back. (so sorry) Very cute place, I liked the bar surrounded by upside down bottles, very clever!

I got the brussel sprout vegetable donburi for the first time at Yuchon Shokudo, and it blew my mind! It was a tasty flavorful dish and the brussel sprouts were amazingly soft and melted in my mouth. All the vegetables very well cooked and sooo tasty. I was amazed. I really like their curry katsu dish and chicken katsu donburi is 🤌 everything is spectacular. They have an option to get white chicken meat as well!

Delicious ramen! My husband and I came in search of good ramen and were not disappointed. I got the spicy tan tan which was just the right amount of spice in a rich broth with thick noodles. My husband got the pork ramen I believe? He also enjoyed his. I will say it’s not cheap but it’s well worth it for how good it is.

My first time here and I judge my ramen restaurant by the taste of the broth that the ramen comes in ( I got the Tan Tan ramen) and I have to tell you that this has got to be one of the most flavorful broths Ive tasted outside of the Bay Area. This restaurant may have become my favorite ramen restaurant in the Davis area... nah, maybe in the Sacramento area. My wife had the Salmon shizo Donburi and that was fantastic as well. The creamy sauce that was drizzled over the salmon pieces that covered the rice was just comfort food. I highly recommend!

My favorite place in town. This was the place my partner and I frequented all through grads school. Six years in town and nothing ever beat it. The ramen is a highlight, and if you are local look into getting a bottle put on the shelf. You get a tag with your name on it, and you can request it whenever you come in.

We had a party of 5 ordering 4 main dishes + 1 appetizer, and the person who took our order basically asked why are we only ordering 4 dishes. A very cozy little place to grab delicious hot ramen and Japanese snacks! The calamari was fried beautifully and seasoned so well that it didnt even need any sauces to go on the side. The Tan Tan ramen was so creamy, full of flavor, and delightfully filling! I also ordered the jelly sake, which was interesting to drink, as it had clear lychee flavored jellies in the drink itself.

Our first time here Sunday evening after trying their wait list through Yelp; our party of four was 2nd in their tablet queue but didn’t know we had to actually check in with a live person, so it took awhile to be seated. The soonest table for 4 was located in front of the drafty door in the bar.Most of the food was excellent including the duck skewer. The grilled avocado had some black spots that I scooped out. The garlic chicken thighs were a real treat as were the duck breast skewers. The creative house-made walnut mochi cake was non-dairy, much to my delight.I’m sure that their uneven service will be better when the place isn’t so packed. I’d like to try their cold sake and other unusual small plates next time.

This might be the most consistently excellent restaurants Ive been to. Ive been here ~10 times and sampled most of the menu and Ive never been disappointed. Their katsu curry and donburi are unbeatable and a go-to when I order here. I would say their take-out is as good as the food you get when you dine in, which I think is rare among restaurants. Also notable is their service. Alan and the other employees are always friendly and welcoming and seem to go out of their way to improve the service here. If you can only visit one restaurant in Davis I would make it this one. I would give more stars if I could!!

I used to love this place! I was a regular Back when it was Yakituri. I moved to a different state now and really miss it. Do you know if they still serve the pork jowl? It was my favorite dish and Id order like ten whenever they werent sold out? I plan on visiting in the fall hope to see this on the menu. But this place really did try to serve customers and environment in the best way possible. I remember watching the guy ponder over what material of paper straws to order down to the fibers of bamboo to timing of how fast they would get soggy on the customers. Thats when i knew this was a place worth keeping open. The spicy tan tan and gyoza are definitely great choices. If you are looking for suggestions 👍

Most Japanese restaurants specialize in something like ramen, Izakaya, or yakitori. This restaurant is a rarity that serves excellent food in all these categories. The soup of the ramen is rich in favor. The tonkatsu curry is crispy. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Davis.

I understand this restaurant is popular but I have to say the service was quite bad. The host was very rude from the moment I walked in. He said there would be a 1-hour wait to get a table but he seemed too aggressive in the way he talked to me. I didnt walk under the rain to be treated poorly in this restaurant. I saw people waiting outside for a table but I didnt want to wait outside because it was raining. The host said I needed to get a drink and I explained I had to wait for my two friends to show up. Frankly at this point I wouldve left if I didnt have to wait for my friends. When my friends arrived the host was again rude to them then we approached the bar to order a drink and the host told us to wait at a table next the entrance, but he talked to us again in a very aggressive way. When he was gone we were finally able to order our drinks at the bar and then go back to the table to wait. Both of my friends were surprised to see how rude the host was with us and other customers too. Was that because he was stressed maybe because the place was understaffed? I have no idea but I think customers should be treated better. I guess the policy of the restaurant is being somewhat aggressive, they dont accept some credit cards, no Google pay or anything like that, you need a key to use the restroom, etc. Finally after 45 minutes we got a table and our waiter was ok and I must say I enjoyed the food. But would I go back to this restaurant? Not really. A restaurant isnt only about food. Service matters. And this place needs to improve a lot in that aspect.

Always passed by this place for years in downtown Davis, but decided to try it out on Picnic Day 2K19. They were quite busy as everywhere else was, but we managed to get a table within 3 minutes of waiting. The restaurant really captures a Japanese atmosphere. We ordered the takoyaki, and spicy gyoza. Both were great appetizers, but I wish the gyoza was pan fried (no big deal.) I had the tan tan ramen, and loved the presentation/ spiciness of the dish. My friend had the mentaiko-soboro Donburu, and loved it too. The staff were extremely friendly and diligent on providing excellent service. I would highly recommend this place for the ramen too!

This place is great. They are downtown, right behind the century movie teather and next to Thai Canteen. They have a nice variety of food and drinks. My favorite dish to order are the ramen. Everyday they have a couple of different ramen options available. If you have the chance, try either the karaton or tan-tan. They are both very flavorful and filling. Another dish I have tried and enjoyed was the omu soba noodles. This is a stir fried noodles wrapped by omelette, it was surprisingly delicious too. Great location, ambience, price and delicious food. It is always good going to eat there.

This is a must-eat establishment in Davis! The food is absolutely excellent — fresh ingredients meticulously prepared into incredibly mouth-watering dishes. The calamari appetizer was tender and flavorful, the Ramen noodle dishes were fresh, delicious, and they hit the spot. The Donburri vegetarian dish was tasty, fresh, and quite pleasing. And to make it even better, the employees taking our orders were friendly, service-oriented, knowledgeable, and very personable. The excitement to share their explanations of their various menu items showed their passion for their dishes. One of the best restaurants in Davis. Being unfamiliar with the cuisine, I asked for help with making my selection it was readily given with patience and clarity. AARON DID A GREAT JOB showing to my table and making certain I had everything I needed. The food arrived very quickly. I was very surprised by the sophistication of the food within the context of its simplicity. Basically a bowl of noodles with add-ins offered layered flavors and textures of a plated dinner of multiple courses. Im not joking here. Starting with the sprinkling chopped scallions crisp and fresh followed by sliced bamboo shoots the stock provided yet more flavorsome surprises. Finally the pork belly itself offered multiple flavors. The serving size was ample. Actually enough for two light to moderate eaters. Pricing was not economy but for the satisfaction provided good value for money. All in all a totally satisfying experience. Try it youll like it.

Me and my roommates went here last night to celebrate the end of the quarter, and because two of us had never had proper Ramen before, aka wed only ever had cup noodle. Good food and excellent service.My wife doesnt eat fish, and the server checked with the kitchen about leaving out a fish based sauce. Later he told is that the chef had worked that the scrambled egg in the dish included some fish sauce. They apologized and provided the dish without the egg. Partway through eating our meals, our server delivered a gift dish because they felt that we had missed out. The gift dish paired really well with her main dish.We were very impressed at how they dealt with this.

We were in town for a soccer showcase this weekend, so we decided to try Yochan Shokudo. What a great restaurant! My daughter and I had the Tokyo Shoyu ramen with the pork belly upgrade and my husband had the Chicken Shiyo ramen. We also had the edamame. The food was simply amazing! So, so, soooooo good! The matcha iced tea was super good, not too matcha-y, but quite the thirst quencher. We highly recommend and cant wait for the next soccer tournament....so we can go back to Yuchan Shokudo.

I had an extremely unpleasant experience when I had dine-in dinner with my friend. They assigned us to a very dim, small table that is closed to the place where they prepare for delivery when the other seats were available. We asked to change a seat twice, but they rejected to us because they said the other seats are prepared for bigger parties. Then they keep assigning the other seats for two-person customers. The girl was extremely rude, she said “You have to sit here because we assign you here.” We didn’t think we were respected and decided to leave. When we waited for food as a delivery, the manager took their policy out and asked us to follow it, which was very unnecessary. We won’t come here again. BTW, the person who cooked ramen didn’t wear a mask. BTW*2, here is a fly staying on the box that contains the forks for delivery food. We knew it because we just sit next to it :)

Cool restaurant with really unique food! When we were there, they were out of a lot of the different menu items, so they may run out of ingredients often. I had the Tan Tan Men for the second time and was not dissappointed. Many times, the first time you try sometime its good but subsequent times the taste seems to change. That was not the case here. My wife is Okinawan and I lived in Japan for two years and we both agree this is the best ramen we have had in America. Our experiences in San Jose and San Francisco ramen shops were not good so its cool to find this gem in Davis. Only issue was the Char Sui (roasted pork) didnt have much flavor comparatively to Japan, but that may just be a sourcing issue. Overall, we love this place

Came here on a whim with my brother and sister after the movies and it ended up being one of the best restaurant experiences Ive ever had. Our waiter was incredibly friendly and extremely knowledgeable about every dish and sake that went with it. He even knew exactly which dishes were vegan friendly so my sister could enjoy her meal. My brother has been to Japan and said that this is the closest thing to authentic Japanese food/atmosphere he has had since getting back. This place has definitely earned its spot on my top five favorite restaurants and Ill be coming back every chance I get.

Ive been going to this place since it first opened and I have to say, now that Im moving away Im really going to miss it! I lived in Japan years ago and this is a perfectly unique and authentic as a Japanese Isakawa restaurant can get. Love this place. The best ramen, Japanese curry, and Yakitori BBQ place in Davis and Sacramento. I havent had anything that comes this close to the flavors Ive had in Japan. The ramen broth is thick and flavorful. They also do muta mochi Yakitori which Ive only had while abroad in Sendai, Japan. 11/10 is an appropriate rating.

Also, this is my first experience going to a restaurant in davis and being told they do not have any highchairs. Not kid friendly at all. My toddler almost fell sideways off the chair head first had I not grabbed her in time. Scary experience. Will not visit here again.

Couldnt taste the tiny bit of scrambled egg, because it was drowned out by whatever bland tasting sauce they put over the rice.

This is a popular restaurant in Davis. The Japanese theme is fisian. I live in Jakarta and have many authentic Japanese restaurants. I thought this was OK but not spectator. The calamari was disappointing. The giaoza and agedasha tofu were ok. The fried Udon and Chicken were good. The sake was excellent. My recommendation is to go in with low expectations and be surprised. Very nice saki. The veg is better.

Walked in ot with the expecting much as its on the main street of Davis. The food was super fresh and tasty. The ramen was good if nothing else its a bit salty. The yakitori was great really focused on the flavor of the meat. If there is any advice it would be to not do specials like the guacamole but focus more on lighter sauces to bring out the skewers.

If you you choose to graze on various small plates, the costs go up quickly--but its not a rip-off; the food is worth the price.Theres no sushi or sashimi, but all the grilled foods and noodles and other items are beautifully prepared and delicious. I went with my family of four and ordered 5 different skewers, 4 smaller plates and 2 noodle dishes and it was a perfect amount of food to share. My favorites were the squid and scallop skewers and the chicken katsu curry. Brussels sprouts were absolutely delicious and a must. This place fills up literally as soon as doors open so I would recommend coming right at 6 pm or making a reservation.

Yakitori Yuchan is currently my favorite restaurant. They specialize in some unique dishes much like you would find in a Japanese izakaya. They have some entree items like ramen, chicken curry, omu soba (noodles wrapped in an omelette -- highly recommend) and donburi, but I love ordering a beer along with some of the smaller dishes (tapas?) like skewers and other side dishes.They have all kinds of sake too. I really like the atmosphere here too. Its super cozy with some jazz or something playing over the speakers. The decor is sort of turn-of-the-century (i.e. 1900s) Japanese. The staff is generally friendly without being invasive and knowledgeable about the menu items. This place is comparatively expensive, but not ridiculous and totally worth it. Oh... sometimes theres a wait -- sometimes a long one -- so plan accordingly.

This review is only for the lunch curry udon! It has made me a weekly regular. Its a great deal and quite delicious.The bowl has bits of chicken, broccoli tempura, and some unstirred curry in the savory stock. As you stir the curry in it gets a silky texture with an almost golden shine. There are a good amount of well cooked udon noodles. The dish is well balanced, with the onion and ginger flavors complementing the curry and chicken.I also enjoy the ambiance- it feels like Im eating in a real Japanese food stand. Especially cool are the huge hanging sake bottles as decor at the bar. Someday Ill try the yakitori and ramen (which my friends have recommended), but for now this place satisfies my cravings for curry udon in Davis.
