Wonderful dining experience! The quality and atmosphere was great for the reasonable price, the servers were kind and attentive and the sushi chef made brilliant sushi, delicious with detailed presentation. Seating is limited and the restaurant is popular for good reason—make a reservation, especially if it’s the weekend.

We have been going here for years. Still the best sushi and cooked Japanese food I have ever had. There have even been a couple of times where we have been sitting next to a sushi chef from Mikuni. Must be good stuff!It is a small mom & pop shop, so you need to be patient.

This is the most authentic sushi experience I’ve had in the Sacramento area. Sushi was beautiful and fresh, service was warm and the waitress was extremely nice. Can’t wait to go back again.

If you want superior quality, service, and true Japanese style sushi that is truly edible art then look no further. If you are looking for average sushi quickly then go somewhere else. You will not appreciate Yui Marlu. My wife and me have been eating here for around three years. We are never disappointed or leave hungry. They are an amazing husband and wife team that truly appreciate their customers. The restaurant provides amazing sushi, noodles, and service. This is my go to spot for sushi and I have yet to be disappointed. Top quality, a must try if you enjoy sushi or Japanese cuisine.

Unbelievable! This IS the place youve been looking for. Trust me, Ive searched. Ive tasted. This is the one.As soon as you walk in, its cramped. But it feels welcoming. It feels like a house, so my kids said. And they were right, I felt at home and at ease.Its a mom and pop operation. She takes care of the guests and he serves delicious plates. We ordered the following:- chefs sushi roll- karage- aji fry (fish fried)- fried soft shell crab- beef sukiyaki- hot chicken soba noodlesEverything came out perfect. Great presentation that gets the mouth watering and food that delivers on the taste buds.This is my go-to spot for quick izakaya style tapas and dishes. Youre gonna love it too, enjoy.

Very awkward....staff was friendly but it was a very odd experience. When I asked what my gluten free options were, the server barely knew what gluten was and had to go ask the boss and then came back with the answer that they arent really a gluten free friendly place but they did have gluten free soy sauce. Our 4 rolls took a very long time and they only had 3 tables, so it wasnt busy. I will not be going back.

Poor communication for hours off. We came there on July 12th (Wednesday) to celebrate Birthday only to find out that the place is closed. Previously we checked their info internet to verify that the places closed until July 12 where they would reopen.Very disappointing.=Ella

Came during lunch hour but there werent a lot of people dining so my husband and I were seated by the nice lady right away... ordered miso soup, takoyaki, Charlie roll and Justin roll, and of course sashimi... the foods were fresh, no fishy smell, and very nicely and neatly presented... the rolls were good but could have been tastier.

Authentic Japanese restaurants are hard to find these days. So when I find one, I tell everyone about it. The name confused me at first as it isnt Japanese, but the husband and wife team do converse in Japanese.I had the Chirashi. The fish was fairly standard in variety, but had a very elaborate presentation and was of course fresh. We got the amaebi as a side dish and they fried the heads for us, just like in Japan. The takoyaki was also reminiscent of something Id find at a street food vendor in Tokyo.The prices were decent. Not the cheapest, but not outrageous like some of the trendier restaurants like Mikuni and Kru.This is definitely my new go to place for authentic Japanese eats.

The dining experience is very unique. It feels like you are sitting down for a homemade meal in a traditional Japanese home. The rolls are excellent and the fish is fresh. It is a little bit more expensive than a typical sushi restaurant, but the quality is well worth it. Everything is made fresh and the service is excellent.

We may, in our fast-food Carmichael sprawl, not be worthy of Yui Marlu. This is serious sushi, for serious sushi people, but served approachably—a wonderful combination, for both the true believers and the curious. You’re in good hands with this family-run place, who serve some of the freshest sashimi and tastiest rolls east of the Bay Area. The Chirashi is a delight, and the takoyaki (octopus dumpling) is mouth-melting.

Authentic Japanese restaurant. Family owned and operated. Gorgeous and delicious food. Highly recommend making a reservation and pre-ordering. This allows them to ensure seating and plan the evening accordingly. Its very small and has one sushi chef. Recommend this place all the time. Ive never gotten anything I didnt like.

This was my first time here so didnt know what they are known for, only saw the 4.8 star rating. Went on a Wednesday night, they were half full. I ordered the edamame and mixed tempura dinner, which came with soup and salad. The edamame was overcooked and unsalted, so i didnt eat much. The Miso soup was really good, and the salad okay. I was really surprised when the tempura came out because there were 4 shrimps, and just a couple veggies. Unlike 99% of the people, I like a lot more veggies and just a couple shrimp for protein. The texture could have been crisper, because I did hit some soggy batter spots. The flavor was okay. I will go back and try other dishes. This time I will read the reviews to see what people recommend. Service was great, and the food came out quickly.

Wonderful place - like you are invited to a Japanese home for a meal. Everything was delicious, fresh and nicely plated - ate so fast forgot to take photos until almost half done eating....Salmon was fresh. Someone else had tempura and she said it was the best and the lightest shes ever had. The sesame chicken entree was stacked. Want to try their sushi next time - gorgeous looking.One of the few Japanese restaurants owned and run by Japanese, so everything was prepared and accompanied correctly - grated daikon with the fish, etc. Nice experience.

If you like authentic Japanese food, then Yui Marlu is A MUST!!! Absolutely phenomenal sushi prepared by Chef Masa, thats always so delicious and artfully presented! FYI, the interior is small and it seems like people get a hankering for the food at the same time because theyll be slammed with no seats available. Its always best to call ahead if you know you want to go there. But honestly, the food is so good (and the proprietors SO NICE) that I dont mind waiting to be seated. If more people knew about this place, maybe they would be able to expand.

Hands down the best sushi and nigiri I have had outside of Japan! Every time I come here I am so happy with the delicious fish and great wait staff. This place is very tiny with one sushi chef (who is excellent) please don’t come here expecting dinner in 20 minutes it’s not fast food, sushi is meant to be savored and it’s a dining experience. Overall, I have loved every dish I’ve tried, my favorites are the cashew roll and unagi nigiri. The ramen, udon, every appetizer, all the rolls and sashimi we have tried have been amazing all 12+ times we have come here or ordered take out.

Best Japanese food in the whole Sacramento valley, and thats coming from someone who grew up in the Bay Area. Nice husband and wife team run the place who are originally from Osaka, Japan. Its like a combination of the higher end sushi places with elegant plating for their sushi, and home-style atmosphere and service.

Very pleasantly impressed with our dinner tonight. This is definitely a local favorite more for the quality of the sushi than for their decor. I am convinced that nice hashi (chopsticks) is usually good sign. Great food is never rushed.

This is the type of Japanese restaurant that I love, yet is so hard to find. The food is wonderful! It is prepared and served by a real Japanese family. Its as authentic as can be. The food working there are very nice, too. Prices are higher than typical teriyaki joints, but you are getting what you pay for. This is Japanese DINING, not Korean or Chinese knock off food. But its not pretentious. The place is small, crowded if busy. I drive out of my way just to eat here.

If you want authentic Japanese food, Yui Marlu is the best!!! This is my familys favorite restaurant and the only place we order sushi from in the greater Sacramento area. The cost is 100% worth it because the quality and freshness of the fish is unbeatable. We consistently receive lovely service from Chef Masa and Kazumi! Our go-to sushi orders are the Orangevale roll, Rainbow roll and Charlie roll. Also, highly recommend their Eggplant appetizer, Tonkatsu Ramen and Chicken Katsu! They have been very accommodating and safe with phone orders during COVID.

The best original Sushi restaurant I have been too.Good prices for the highest quality Sushi money can buy.Staff are very friendly and attentive.Many times i have arrived right at 8pm or a little past and they have allowed me in.The only con to Yui Marlu and its not exactly a con is that they close at 8pm. The reason is because when they run out of fresh Fish they close the door. A true sign of high quality!I will continue to go here until the doors close.Mr Coleman. The guy that posted the 1 star review and the out of business statement. You were obviously at the wrong door. The place is small and easy to miss. They have never to my knowledge closed their doors and im a long time customer.

First off let me say that even though this place is small, it makes up for it in the awesomeness of their food. Not only was the presentation beautiful, our hostess made us feel like we were making a visit to her home. Their pricing is very reasonable, and everything that we tried there was delicious. Since it is a small venue, I recommend reserving a table before you go. Will definitely be back.🍱🤩

The food is fantastic. I love that their menu is not overwhelming. Garlic steak: excellent! Garlic chips on top with asparagus. Marinade was super good. The fish was undoubtedly fresh. While there were some pieces of our omakase that I did not enjoy, The chef is a joy to watch and not afraid to go off menu. The fish was fresh and while I did not enjoy every fish the omakase, I respected the chef for giving me a variety of fish with a great presentation.

I usually order way too much so by the end I start dissecting the rolls for the fish, leaving the rice; not here, I ate every grain.The sashimi was so fresh and had such wonderful mouth feels. The more room temp they got the better they tasted.Everything they serve with avocado is great. Nothing wimpy about their use of the stuff. That combined with the fish have an all out buttery texture that made it totally savory and delightful.I like tamago for my last bite, and this one did not disappoint. Eating at Yui Marlu is just like eating in a country inn in Japan !!!! More so when local Japanese-Americans and Japanese tourists also come here to eat Real Japanese food !!! I tell my friends later in the day that I went to Japan for lunch, because I have entered a Japanese Restaurant, and all I have to do is lOOk and see who the other diners are !!!!!!!!! And when my tonkatsu plate, rice, miso, saki are placed in front of me, I really am in Japan ........ I walk out the door and I am back again in Sacramento County ...s peteLong time
