It was our first time here and we loved everything about it. My family and I cannot explain how picky we are with Sushi and now this place is one our top 3 places to go. Sushi was soo good and Daniel was very nice and attentive. Shout out the hard working Itamaes and rest of staff. DEFINITELY WILL COME BACK FOR MORE !

Such delicious sushi!! Everything is really fresh. The staff are so friendly. I dont do well with cucumber and they have lots of rolls without, Im pretty sure I could ask them to leave it out of other rolls but I havent done that yet. A view of the 78 so ambience isnt there but the food is what counts.

Excellent hidden gem! After driving by this place a few times, I decided to give it a try. I ordered the two-piece tuna, mixed tempura, and house salad. I also asked them for a recommendation for a good small sake that was reasonably priced, and the manager recommended the Funaguchi, which comes in a can! It was absolutely delicious and packs quite the punch, so I couldnt finish every last drop, but would definitely get it again.Now for the food! While most sushi restaurants give you the two-piece tuna with tons of rice filler, here is the opposite! The sushi chef Koji gave me two of the biggest pieces of fish Ive ever gotten for a two-piece order and I actually asked for a little bit more rice with it! It was delicious. The little dish of ginger & wasabi also came with their house-made pickles, which are so good (forgot to take a picture of this & the sushi before I started eating it).The house salad was huge and had that delicious ginger dressing and also those delicious pickles on top. The tempura was so fresh and piping hot, there was a wide variety of vegetables, and you actually get three pieces of shrimp. It was cooked to perfection!I was so surprised that this is one of the best sushi places Ive been to! Its definitely a hidden gem and I highly recommend you go and check it out!

Amazing food, great atmosphere, and wonderful people. Came in on a Wednesday evening and the quiet atmosphere was perfect for our anniversary dinner. The food was outstanding. The quality and flavor of the specialty rolls was the best I’ve had in Southern California. Miss the all you can eat last time I lived here a few years back, but we’ll be back for sure.

The food and service is not good or pleasant as it has been in the past when the overall quality was 5+.My sushi order was $45 and it was for a special occasion. My partner got her food and I got my soup and salad but my sushi entree was late. By the time it was served the sushi was room temperature and not fresh. I also ordered a second drink which never came because the person didnt pay attention to what I asked or just didnt want to serve me.Paying for one of most expensive entrees on the menu that comes 20 minutes later when my partner is halfway through her meal; and instead of apologizing for the delay the waitperson says thank you for waiting as if I owe them a favor, is where I need to draw a line.I had looked very forward to enjoying a pleasant dinner at Yukiya because for many years I always enjoyed the experience but tonight it was unsatisfactory. And with inflation, poor service and quality is not worth paying for.I was sadly disappointed and kind of shocked because I felt like I went to a completely different restaurant thats no where near as good as the Yukiya I once knew. Luckily theres an amazing sushi restaurant in Solana Beach.The place has changed and I wont be returning. Its been nice knowing you for all these years Yukiya.

So this place is right across the street from where I work so I decided to check it out. When you first walk in, it feels really empty and dark. It looks like a place that wouldn’t be that great at first.When I was looking up past reviews it said that it was an AYCE place BUT it is NOT! We decided to order the 5 rolls we had intended to order anyways. The waitress did question us if we were going to finish it… (which obviously my coworker and I did!).We were absolutely amazed at how delicious each of the rolls were.It was so delicious! And we were completely full and it was cheaper than I would of thought!We got:Fire fire rollSpecial Dynamite RollSpicy Crispy RollCaterpillar RollAnd my Fav of them all!!!Royal Ceviche RollWe will definitely be coming back

The first time i ever went to yukiya sushi i did have a hard time ordering however the waiter was extremely helpful and patient with explaining everything to me. I absolutely loveeeee their baked rolls, also for a vegetarian option I enjoy an avocado and cream cheese roll, it is yummy and simple. its about $20 per person, and a great place to eat with friends

We were looking for a great sushi place to celebrate a birthday. We were very happy with our choice! It was mid afternoon, so there wasnt a lot of people there. The waitress was very attentive. The food came out quickly and was delicious! The orange chicken bento box had a lot of food for $19. The orange chicken was the best Ive tasted, and Ive tasted orange chicken at a lot of places. It was light and golden crunchy. We had many sushi rolls ($9 to 30 each) among our group. I dont think there were any that werent good. Garlic edamame was delicious! The owner came to make sure we were enjoying our food. He brought out some salmon that my sister who hates salmon raved about because it was so good. He also brought out some fish shaped ice cream pastry with caramel. It was delicious as well! I think we will go back again before heading home from our vacation! I highly recommend this place!

One of my absolute TOP favorite restaurants now in Oceanside, food is amazing! I’ve been to many Japanese restaurants here in southern cali and this has got to be the best one I’ve been to so far.Prices are very reasonable and food here is beyond fresh and delicious 🤤 i left the restaurant very full lol (the crunch roll it’s 12/10 ) there are so many delicious food options here ( like the tempura and vegetarian and baked rolls, and bento boxes I saw!) that is also suited to picky eaters like myself!Definitely coming here at least 2-3 times a month🙌

The tonkatsu was so rich and fatty.The dynamite roll, wow. It came to us boiling hot, every little bit of sauce caramelized the entire dish. Less of a baked roll, more of like a rich, tangy, sweet casserole worthy of far more than they charge.The cherry on top was having a check balance barely breaking $60.From the service, speed of preparation, quality and taste of food, and price, there were no complaints we could come up with.We will be back.

Having lived in Okinawa, Japan, for three years, I can tell you this restaurant is average to below average at best. The people working there are not Japanese and are definitely not very welcoming like the Japanese either. We had several pieces of sashimi that were OK, but not worth the money spent. I found the host borderline rude. However, I think that it’s just because of where he comes from which is definitely not Japan. We loved the Orion sign at the front entrance.

To be fair, the employees are all super nice and the place looks very nice. Which is why I am giving them 3 stars.However, we ordered 6 rolls with the recommendation of the waiter, and unfortunately, to me, they weren’t real « sushi »They were very big and filling, but it is more of an Americanized sushi style than traditional to me.The Tuna fish was grounded somehow like a paste and was spread on top of one of the roll, and the other rolls were supposed to have real fish slices, but except for the salmon part on top, the rest was like grounded fake crab meat, more grounded fish, and tons of mayonnaise… and their special sauce was very odd to pair with the fish…Sadly for my vegan/vegetarian friends, there are only two rolls options and they are small and fairly okay, but nothing to get really excited about.In all fairness, for people who enjoy California rolls, you should still give it a try because you get a wide variety of grounded fish/crab sushi for a good price!But for the people that are looking for more traditional sushi… it’s another story 😅

Our love for the takeout from this restaurant inspired us to dine in today. Regrettably, it was a less than satisfactory experience. Our waiter appeared uninterested and annoyed to serve us. To make matters worse, we discovered a hair in one of our sushi orders. When we raised the issue, no apology or remedial action was offered. A simple apology or acknowledgment would have gone a long way but the waiter shrugged it off and walked away. Its a shame, as the quality of the food is unquestionable, but our overall experience was tainted by the poor service.

This is a very spacious restaurant located west of the 78.The servers are really super nice and friendly.Food:I want to try the ramen soon but both of my visits I had the Shrimp Tempura appetizer and the Kalbi.Tupac had the Salmon Kama and the Seafood Ramen.My Kalbi 2nd time around was burnt but still had a great taste. The tempura is battered a little heavy but still good. Tupac enjoyed both of his dishes. I tasted the seafood soup and it was flavorful. Its a nice Japanese cuisine under family management. Daniel the owner is always friendly and professional with all the customers, making sure youre happy with the food and service. The restaurant in clean as are the staffs uniforms. The food tasted fresh, and the chefs are real Japanese professionals with amazing cutting skills. Youll notice this when your food is presented to you by how each piece is arranged with attention to detail.I had a Salmon Teriyaki Bento Box with green iced tea. My husband had the Chirashi Bowl and hot green tea.Weve been to Yukiya restaurant several of times, and the quality of the food has never changed. The sushi is great with less rice stuffed in, so you can taste the other ingredients better. The prices are reasonable and there is plenty of parking. Though from far away the restaurant doesnt look like much. Just give em a chance and youll enjoy the place.PS: What I dont like is the colored mayonnaise or salad dressing the chef adds a lot on certain dishes; it made my stomach sick a few times. Ive been to top Japanese restaurants esp. in NYC, and they normally dont add this type of dressing.

I rarely leave reviews but, it felt appropriate this time as Im still shocked by what happened. Let me first say the food was great and the service acceptable. The service though was nothing extraordinary. The waiter took our order and then brought our food. Again, the food was excellent. Here is the part that shocked me: I leave a tip when I feel a wait person has been exceptional, going above and beyond and in that case I tip very well. I did not leave a tip because the service was not above and beyond. As we were leaving the employee came out to the parking lot with my credit card slip and asked why I not leave him tip. I explained everything was good that I was not unhappy. He then asked that if Im not going to tip him then they would like for me to please not come back again. What was an enjoyable experience was ruined at the last.

Went today and saw they have an ayce menu now. At least I think its new. But Ive been there a few times and the food is always good. But what I noticed today, what was pointed out, was the tip. It was figured for me at 15%. I dont know if its all items or ayce, but its circled(see). I dont believe in not tipping, but I might tip $2.00 instead of $2.14, because its easier than figuring, counting out..I dont know about telling me what to tip.

The best sushi experience Ive had, the building is sort of by its self so theres plenty of parking, the customer service is wounderful, everyone is super warm and welcoming. The building is super clean and the food is absolutely amazing. The only problem that I can think of thats not even really a problem is the building is pretty much only sushi, and bento boxes. Which I enjoyed great. Wounderful place and if I didnt live so far from it Id go way more often because the prices are even very reasonable. 10/10 I hope this helps newcomers!!!!

First off, the service was wonderful. The wait staff is extremely polite, and when they forgot to bring our drinks before the meal, they gave us the drinks on the house, as an apology. Even though it was a simple oversight. Note: we didnt ask for the drinks to be free, because they forgot. This was 100% their gesture.Second, the food was delicious! I had the ramen. Oh man, it tasted like food of the gods. You know, the kind where you know you ate getting full, but you cant stop, because it is that good. If there is an option for MINUS stars, I have no hesitation to do so. Their manager Daniel is the ever worst manager I have ever seen. He argued with us for 15 mins when we informed him that 2 slices of fish were not completely defrosted. He touched and pressed the fish and told us that he had no problem with the fish. He then asked me to take the fish that he pressed. Thats epic!! He blames customers for reporting the issue. And he repeatedly said he/his restaurant had no problem, the problem is on us. This is my favorite sushi restaurant in the area. The service is always nice and the food is good. Ive been to other sushi places and theyre either overpriced or oversaturated with sauces, mayonnaise, and other ingredients that hide the true flavor of the fish itself. Ive seen them cut the entire fish and I love how they use every part of it, not letting it go to waste. I have been coming here for over 10 years, seen a few ownership changes as well as staff changes. I think its at its best management presently. The chefs are knowledgeable, quick, & friendly. Santana is the best chef & his wife is the best waitress there. The quality of the sushi is the best in San Diego county. Ive tried them all. This restaurant used to be called Hana. New owner purchased this same restaurant but changed to new name called Yukiya. I tried their All you can eat for $27.99 because I am a big hungry surfer. I was shocked that their seafood is freshest and tasty! Lot of fish meat on small white rice rolls, not like Hana and other restaurants used too large white rice rolls with smaller meat that make you fill up quickly. The chefs are real Japanese with very professionally handrolls.. Really fastest service. Very friendly staff with excellent customer service that even better a lot than Hana in past. Their beverage price seem reasonable than Hanas expensive drinks in past. Lets give this restuarant with new owner a chance. In my opinion, this restaurant may be one of Oceansides and North Countys top Sushi restaurants, maybe even San Diego County. Before I begin this review, I would like to write a disclaimer relating to the previous reviews for this restaurant. For some reason, Google decided to keep all of the reviews for Hana, the restaurant that was in this location before it changed to Yukiya. While these two restaurants are in the same place, I can attest that both have very different menus, staff, management, specials, and overall a different experience. Therefore, I recommend that anybody reading these reviews take the older ones with a grain of salt, for they reflect upon a restaurant that no longer exists.Anyways, time for my review. As mentioned previously, before there was Yukiya there was Hana, which I ate at on several occasions. It was good at first, but over time the quality lessened, and eventually I moved on to other better Japanese restaurants. Today, my party and I were passing by when I noticed that the place had changed ownership to this new restaurant called Yukiya. I decided to go ahead and give it a try just to see how it compared to Hana. Needless to say, Yukiya greatly exceeded my expectations. Admittedly, I had a rather negative impression of the restaurant at first, since we came in to an empty place with barely any staff around (though in their defense, we came in at a rather off-hour, and near the end of our meal more staff showed up and treated us well). We were sat down and served by who appeared to be the new owner of the restaurant. He had a strong Japanese accent, but he had a kind heart, and you could tell he was very passionate and caring about his food. I think he even cooked our food personally, for he gave us salmon rib on the house because it was his favorite, going as far as instructing us how to eat it so we wouldnt swallow the bone. As for the food, it was amazing. The katsu chicken I order was cooked almost perfectly, and contained very high-quality chicken. And although I never eat seafood, I actually loved the salmon rib, and would recommend it to anyone else who loves salmon. Overall, eating at Yukiyas was a very pleasant and personal experience. While the restaurant is in its early stages and a little rough at the edges, I can tell it has the potential to become a popular sushi spot. Id definitely recommend it to others, though you should keep in mind that Yukiya has just started and needs a little sharpening.

This was a tough one for me. The service was great, it really was. But that only goes so far when your food is ok and your prices are high. The unagi handroll was flavorful, but really doused in sauce. Ive never had so much sauce on unagi before, and I order it pretty much everywhere I go.I also got this vibe that they are very used to their customers having no idea what any of the stuff on the menu is. Especially dousing it in so many sesame seeds that it felt like it should just be called a sesame seed ramen (which still, even other sesame seed based ramens Ive had were better.)I would love to see the place focus more on maybe a yakitori style atmosphere (keeping the sushi, but focusing on small items.) Their emphasis on alcohol here seems very high, and I feel like more of a yakitori type of menu could benefit them greatly. But as it is, it seems like their claim to fame is sushi, and you can get way better sushi across the street for less.Alternatively, they could invest in remodeling and improving the food to bring it up to the style I feel they are trying to portray, but ultimately not achieving.Ive never felt so bad writing a review like that, as I really really do have to emphasize, the staff seemed really really nice, and honestly, I want to see this place do well. This is the All You Can Eat ROLLS only, no nigiri, no handroll. Not like typical All you can eat sushi places in town. $30.00/person to eat just rolls is not worth it. Rolls are big. I should order 2 rolls (10.00/ea) and get very full and save money. The lady at the reception is very polite with big smile. Service is OK. Rolls taste so so. Too much sauce makes me feel like eating rice with sauce, no taste of fish. if you dont care much about nigiri but love rolls, this is the place for you; otherwise go some place else like Sushi Damu in Tustin.

I love this place! I just moved and this restaurant was one that my family loved...I have eaten there 4 or 5 times this last month. Each time was delicious! We have had several things, from japanese to sushi. Each was great. I normally do not get yakisoba noodle dishes because they generally are not good - I have to tell you, its FANTASTIC. They have this interesting spice in it that just makes the dish. I have had all meats, but the steak is best! It is LITERALLY the BEST yakisoba I have had, and the best both my parents have had. Please try it! I love that its not too busy in there as well - it means I get even faster service!

Wont go back !!! Waited 5 minutes for waitress, though not very busy at all. They seemed to be discussing the menu changes. Dirty dishes were left on the table that we were seated at. When waitress was asked to move them, she said Ill get the busperson instead of taking them away. Very poor service, not friendly. I guess because we asked to have dirty dishes removed. Sushi was only so-so. Price too high considering everything.

Ive come to Hana a few times, its never my first choice but now I will never come here again. Was sat at the bar by the host/server who was a young male, he never gave me a menu so asked him if me and my few friends could get menus, so he brought us one ( requested another ). Then he took my drink order which was just a hot sake and water and never brought me the water I ordered until I finally asked again after my group received their drinks and edamame. I also ordered the Edamame and received it when I was done eating all the sushi I ordered. I have never been brought edamame after eating before in my life and I eat sushi on a weekly basis. Finally ordered a soda and the same waiter took it asking if I wanted more, it was half way full so said no I was ok and he still took it anyways!! Leaving me paying for a soda that I only drank half of. Then it took about 30 minutes to even receive my bill to find they didnt even run the card yet when I finally got it back had to continue to wait forever to get bill. Sushi chefs were good but the rice was soggy and gross. Probably the worst sushi experience of my life and I eat a lot of sushi and have been a lot of places. Word of advice fire the white guy thats the host hes 24 or something and cant do his job, sad part is it was dead so he pretty much gets paid to stand there and do nothing. We also had a few things to say when leaving and he just stood there with a smile on his face the whole time. I wouldnt come back here even if you paid me to.

Appetizers and sushi rolls were okay. Nothing special about this place. The Japanese Waiter was keep checking up on us after he put the bill and asked “Are you done??” . I finally replied “Do you want us to leave now ?” and put down my card. He replied “Don’t be upset, I don’t mean to make you leave. You can pay and then stay as long as you like”. Weird logic. But then I realized it’s probably just a language barrier thing of him. Other restaurants, they will put down the bill in front of us and just politely reminded, “Anytime you’re ready, Ma’am” and will just leave us alone until we’re ready to pay, means finished with our conversation, food and drinks. The restaurant was very empty when we’re there at lunch time, otherwise we’d understand and won’t hold up the line and taking too much time. Manner, Peeps!

What is wrong with this place????!!!!!!!!! STAY AWAY!!!! Heres how our night went. We ordered beef yakisoba and 2 chicken teriyaki entrees. The entrees listed on the menu came with miso, rice, mashed potato salad, half a California roll, 2 spring rolls and 2 Inari sushi. When we received our food there was no Inari and we received house salad instead of potato. I really wasnt mad at getting house salad since I was skeptical of a potato salad at a sushi place. When I mentioned something the waitress just said oh its just a picture.... no its written on your menu. Then my rice was more of a rice pudding. It was complete mush and Im pretty sure my grandma could eat it with out her dentures. The California roll tasted really sour and I wasnt sure as to why I thought possibly the added more vinegar to it then most places. At the end our waitress forgot to give us our check. We are sitting there food in bag ready to go and she just says have a nice night. I walked up the three front where the to go register is and she still said nothing like oh I forgot your check so I told another waitress and was able to pay for our food. I wish I hadnt. On the way home I discovered the roll want bad from vinegar but was just plain bad as I became OVERWHELMED with pain in my stomach and proceeded to uncontrollably MESS MYSELF ON MY DRIVE HOME. I live 20 minutes from there and I was 2 blocks from home when the Devils fury met me. DONT GO HERE! food is disgusting and obviously someone is serving spoiled product and the waitresses although nice forget important parts of being a server.

Worst service by the waitress!! The sushi chef had to take our order because in the 30 minutes we were sitting on our table she didnt come by not even once. She told me that I, a party of one, would have to wait becuae the two familes ahead of me were ALSO waiting for seats at the bar, despite the rest of the restaurants tables being vacant. My daughter Angela Churchill and I ate lunch on November 13, 2015 between 1-2 PM The waitress recommended the salmon teriyaki on the Bente box lunch, it was way to fishy, so returned for the teriyaki chicken, California roll and tempura and rice. at the time I felt like the chicken was not cooked enough but thought maybe it was tenderized or something. The rice was dried out and I suspected they might leave it out (rice attracs bacteria at room temperature. It seemed to be pretty good tasting. By that night my daughter and myselt were throwing up violently and had direa. This lasted for three days, feeling a little better each day. We will never go there again.
