Glad we found another good dim sum place to go to. We went at 11am and it was not super busy, the restaurant started filling up closer to noon. It was relatively easy to find parking on the street.Most of the items we ordered were tasty. Especially recommend the century egg congee, roast duck, and salted egg lava bunOne dish that could be improved: Shrimp dumpling (har gow) wrapper kept sticking to the bottom and breaking.

No wait on a Sunday. Good size parking lot in the back with another larger one across from their parking lot. The food came out quickly. Everything was good. I was surprised by how much I liked their radish cake. Taro buns were a good ratio. My only dislike was the jellyfish (texture was good, taste was subpar)

The dining hall is a little run down considering its new ownership as far as aesthetics go.The food is REALLY REALLY well prepared! I dined in last month and have been really wanting to order take out. The dim sums are so nice and delicious. The fried rice isnt exactly the kind of fried rice I am used to so to each their own on this one.Parking is limited in the back, entrance is through the back. Service could improve as far as being more hospital to your customers no matter what kind of background (race) one may be.

Delicious food! The service was relatively quick. We ordered mostly the dim sum. Everything was tasty. Such great variety that it is hard not to find something that you would like. We also got the fried rice, and it was really well made. They dont let the tea run dry either.

Would give 4.5 stars if I could. Went with a group of 4 a little after 11am on Christmas eve. Really liked the decor and setup of the place, perhaps slightly more upscale than many dim sum places. Order from the menu, not carts. Some dishes that stood out as very good were the spicy lamb buns, pan fried daikon cake, and the dry beef chow fun. Soup dumplings were slightly above average and most of the other dumplings we tried we average. Staff was pleasant and overall it was a very nice dim sum.

Yum Cha Palace is a great place for dim sum for lunch and a great place for dinner before your concert at The Guild Theater. There is a fancy bar with lots of seats and a large dining area with plenty of tables. Service is always courteous, kind and fast. Dim sum is delicious and don’t forget to try the egg tarts. The crust is super flaky and buttery. The hai gow shrimp balls has whole shrimps in it not shrimp with a lot of filler. Chinese chicken salad is always a hit! Everything there is fresh and fantastic. Walking distance to the Menlo Park Caltrain station and lots of parking in the back public lots. Enjoy 😊

A nice, clean, comfortable restaurant for yum cha. Not too long a wait, even during peak time on a Sunday. Everything is made to order so always hot and always available. Sticky rice and Cheung Fun were delicious. Sui mai was just okay - a bit dry. Fried rice was tasty but huge! Expect for there to be leftovers. I liked that they had a choice of teas available. The only downside was that staff were not friendly or warm at all, but I guess this is because they were busy and preoccupied. Price was fantastic. Park on a side street or the public carpark a block behind El Camino.

It’s really, surprisingly, hard to find good dim sum in the Penninsula. Is Yum Cha Palace that place you’re looking for? Sorta. Not really. Depends.Positives: great seating, attentive staff, surprisingly great fried turnip cakeNegatives: shrimp dumplings, liu sa bao, no mai gai were meh.In short, I’d come back here for the fried turnip cake. They have a unique way of making them - they’re cut into smaller cubes then pan fried with some chili and garlic, and it was actually how I want all of my fried turnip cake to be made now. Everything else? Just okay. The shrimp dumpling wrapper was too thick. The liu sa bao (baos with egg filling) was too doughy, and the no mai gai (sticky rice) was really soft and mushy.

Spacious dining area and a lot of staff. Food was average. It seems like the waiters were running around confused most the time. They delivered our order to the wrong table twice and were not apologetic about it. I kept having to request more water as if it were scarce. Oh well, cant win them all. The Pork and Shrimp Siomai were tasty but the Shrimp dumplings were sticky and chewy. Not the texture or taste I expected. The Chicken Salad was okay however, their recipe had a bit too much Wasabi in it. Needless to say, my sinuses were clear by the end of the meal. Decent prices.

Updated review - 3 starWe have been visiting Yum Cha for years and the most recent visit was thoroughly disappointing. No one greeted us at the front for a long time, we had to wave down a waiter to seat us. Once we are seated, we asked for tea and cold water. They charge for tea so that came right away. Water never came. We placed order right away and no one came to pick it up. No waiter was looking in our direction so we couldnt even wave anyone down. Once our order was picked up from us, it was another 10-15 min before it was entered into the system. Other table that came 5 min after us got food 10 min before us.The stars are mostly for the food. They came pretty quickly after the order was entered. The flavor is still decent.Old review - 5 starDim sum here is great! It is especially good for large group because it allows for reservation. Do confirm a day or two in advance though, because reservations too far in advance some times dont make it on to their schedule. They do catering too with pretty short turn around time.

Conveniently located in downtown Menlo Park, just off Santa Cruz Avenue. Main entrance faces El Camino but parking is out back and theres an entrance from there too.Been many times for both dimsum and dinner.I recommend the Hong Kong style crispy noodles（两面黄）, and the Donut Rice Crepe Roll (炸两）. The veggies are good too.Waitstaff speak English, Mandarin and Cantonese (so its nice to be able to practice 🤪)

The food may not be as perfect as real authentic Chinese food but if you ignore that its some damn good food. The chow mein, Mongolian beef, and crab and fish dumpling are incredible. The table service was amazing (covid prevents them from having tables) and the take out is incredible. They always had my order ready 5 min before I ordered it. The pricing is also very reasonable, 5 average people would be full with under 100$. Highly recommend

Portion sizes were a little smaller than Im used to for dim sum (3 pieces instead of 4), but everything was very high quality. The peking duck dumplings and the egg yolk buns were very good. We also got the Chinese broccoli and the plum sauce it was served with was a bit salty, so Im glad they had it on the side. Service was quick and we were seated almost immediately at lunch time on a Sunday! Would definitely go back.

Great for a dim sum experience that is not rushed, has good service when they arent slammed, and not in a crazy loud / packed room, which one might typically find around the Bay. There are no dim sum carts -- everything is a la carte, the the food is good quality and delicious. Its on the more pricey side for dim sum but I find the environment makes it worthwhile.

Decent Chinese restaurant a la carte dim sum. There are many dim sum restaurants in the Bay Area and this one is straight down the middle. Not so special, but not so bad. And considering it is in downtown Menlo Park, prices arent too bad either. In general, all the food was on the bland side and not memorable. Lots of seats, low wait times, and decent food. Staff is quite friendly as well.

We got dim sum takeout from there twice recently. Given that, it is hard to comment on the service or dining experience.The food itself was overall acceptable. Nothing stellar, nothing terrible. My personal favorite were the taro puffs whereas my wife liked their preserved egg and pork congee. The roast duck was a let down, as was the Peking duck rice noodle roll. The har gow and shrimp rice noodle roll were par, as were the sesame balls. Char siu bao were pretty good, but tiny (so sad!).Had we paid 10-20% less I would have felt better about the food. Again, it was fine and the only real disappointment was the roast duck. I understand this is the bay area, but the total bill for what we got seemed high for the value/food received.If we get a sudden craving for dim sum we may go back for convenience, but if planning ahead well continue looking.

My experience was similar to Tims. They didnt have the first two appetizers we ordered, and it took them 15 min to even report that they were out. (Ultimately, they brought the appetizer that they did have at the end of our meal.)They never brought the rice. The tea came after 3 or 4 requests. The first item to be brought to our table was wrong and not our order, though they tried to insist it was. The green beans came after we had finished our two main courses. The couple next to us had the same experience--and when the waiter came out with one order of beans, he didnt know who to give it to, and decided to give it to them, because they had been waiting even longer. (They reported they had been waiting two hours.) The wine is over priced. They need to take reservations for fewer than 6 people or figure out how to seat people in a timely way. It took 15 minutes before they even took down our name. In short, the service is horrendous and the fact they recently re-opened is no excuse for such an amateur operation. The food is good once it arrives, but Im not sure Ill go back.

This is an order off the menu dim sum place. Food is delicious and in good portion sizes. Most dishes are 3-4 pieces to an order. You cant go wrong with any of the dishes although I highly recommend the soup dumplings, shrimp dumplings, rice rolls, congee, durian pastries, and chicken feet. I could see that they attend group tables favorably but if you go by yourself, be prepared to be left out. They were unresponsive and didn’t even listen to my request. Finally i decided to check out and have one of my unserved dishes to go since I waited for about 40 minutes. They directly canceled my dish even when the dish was ready! I wouldn’t say the food is bad but it’s far from being good enough to compensate for the terrible attitude and service. Feel free to go with a bunch of friends but generally I don’t recommend it.

This is an authentic Chinese restaurant which is a rarity in the mid-peninsula. The food is excellent. My experience with the service has been very good and I found the people friendly. Please note that some of the complaints about the service appears to be during the restaurants soft launch, a time when they are trying to work things out. Hopefully it is smoother now. Ive been there four times in two weeks (authentic Chinese food is hard to find here) and have not been disappointed. Recommended by someone born in Hong Kong and who worked in a Chinese restaurant for over ten years.

Extremely poor service, low quality and overpriced foods.Ambiance is sad and waiters enforce sense of unwelcomeness on you, while eating food they hover around you and ask: are you done?!Waiters are frowned and rude; they really need to get trained professionally to be able to treat clients properly, they barely talk and do not understand english, good luck on communicating with them.Our waitress was Mei, she is really a nightmare. Dont expect wandering carts with food at this dim sum place, you order off the menu (which means the food comes out hot and fresh)! I came shortly after they opened for dim sum one Saturday morning and got seated right away. About 5-10 minutes after ordering, all my food started to come out!The taste of the congee was pretty generic. I got the one with dry scallops and there was probably about a spoonful of scallops compared to the big bowl the congee came in. From the steamed dumpling menu I ordered shui mai, ha goa, sticky rice lotus leaf, chicken feet, and bean curd skin rolls. They were all tasty options and better tasting that the dim sum places Im used to eating (mayflower and koi palace).I got super excited about the hand pulled rice crepe rolls (they have one filled with peking duck)!!! The roll itself was displeasingly chewy. Hand pulled noodles tend to be more chewy, but I really didnt appreciate the chewiness of the rice roll. The taste of the duck was just medicore, a lot of the pieces was just fat and no duck meat.My favorite dish had to be the pan fried daikon cake with XO sauce! Both sides of the cake were pan fried nicely to a slight crisp but the cake itself was still soft at its center. The XO sauce made the dish more flavorful that the typically diakon cake youre used to eating at dim sum places.The purple sweet potato bun was interesting. The bun tasted similarly to a pineapple bun that you would get at any Asian bakery and the inside had a subtle tasting sweet potato paste. The purple color of the bun reminded me of those taro drinks made with bright purple powder.Overall solid dim sum place in the Peninsula!

Horrible, horrible service. The one star is only so I could access the prompt to write this review, this place really gets NO STAR!!! Our party of four was served way long after much larger parties that arrived way after our party. By the time we received our food, (an hour wait! I wanted to leave, but my party did not) Id have eaten anything. At that point, it was just Chinese food, nothing at all special. With us were two very elderly people, non-asian and EVERY Asian table was served first and immediately, I really dont like posting such things but it was despicably obvious!!! Decent dimsum and tea around the area with the typical dimsum items like hagao and siumai. Theres always something better more north or more south, but its a longer drive. Also never had to wait to get seated, so thats nice.
