Yuzu Shabu & Grill in Pasadena

Love this Japanese hotpot. One can choose the protein as well as the quantity one needs. We all ordered 12 oz each of premium meats. The pork bone broth was very flavorful, the citrus konbu not so much. The dipping sauces were all good but I liked the sesame a lot. We came at a busy time but the food was brought to us pretty fast. The soup warmed our bellies; the restaurant was a brilliant choice on a rainy day.

I am glad I found this place. Everything was fresher than other all-you-can places. We ordered their dinner for two and the portion was great. They had the all-you-can eat option, too. Also, our server was super nice and helpful. We went with his recommendations and we were glad we did!

I had to review here instead of Google Maps just to give my two cents.If I was being honest, this place is probably a solid . However, the impeccable customer service we received from Kai was fine dining level. His level of service made you feel like you were family and that you were a guest in his house. It felt so natural and unforced to get a service so personal yet professional at the same time.His goal was to make your ulterior satisfaction and it felt like the food was bonus.I sincerely believe he should be at-least the manager of Yuzu because of how well he provided service.Moving on to the restaurant. The food and everything else is at par with other Shabu and grill. It may have lacked what other Shabu shabu AYCE has but I would say they have good meat that they provide. Place was slow on a Sunday and it was peaceful.Price is okay. Its a little in the pricey point but if everyone provided Kai-level service. It is definitely worth it.Give this a shot and I hope the staff who assists you is Kai.

Excellent selection and quality of meats. Must try ALL the different flavourful broths. Fantastic bar high top seating area with televisions all around. Clean with a lovely environment. Service is courteous, attentive and efficient. Ive been here 4 times already just a week after their soft opening, and Ill definitely be back.

Dining at Yuzu was a wonderful experience! We happened to walk by and notice the #DineLA menu so we decided to check it out. The food was amazing (and plentiful), and it all came out pretty fast. The highlight of our experience was our server, Chris. He is a SUPERSTAR! Chris gave excellent recommendations for entree choices, was exceptionally attentive and professional, and he made the whole experience fun! Make sure to ask for Chris when you go in!!

Food okay. Atmosphere promising. Service APPALLING. There were only two other tables occupied and yet they still couldnt figure out who ordered what. They barely checked on us and wait staff sat around at dining tables laughing about not being professional. They were out of a lot of regular items. Really disappointed I didnt have a good experience. Atmosphere was so nice too bad the wait staff couldnt get it together. They will be what puts them out of business. Avoid at all costs!

Food was decent. They have TVs showing cool shows. The service was awful. Was given a paper to fill out to choose food items, yet half the items we asked for were never brought over. Example: We asked for 2 eggs, took 30 min to get them. We then verbally asked for items, still didnt get them. Didnt even get broth refills. The last 20 min, they just stopped bothering to come to our table at all. Took a while just to get check.Disappointing.

I love shabu shabu! But you really can’t mess it up. However, this place definitely left us with a bad taste in our mouths. Service was lacking, we kept asking for stuff that I think any shabu shabu place would’ve already set up on the table or automatically would deliver once seated; for example bowls were placed before we got utensils and we still had to ask for our utensils! They hardly came around to ask us for our orders since we did the AYCE premium for $49/person we had to flag them down. One of the waiter who assisted us with our order looked bothered so that made us feel bad for asking what we wanted. Nonetheless, they need to improve on their customer service for sure. Now let’s talk about the food, for an AYCE of course the meats were ok, was it worth the $49/person I don’t think so as I’ve been to other shabu shabu that’s a little more affordable and had better quality meats. I however, enjoyed their huge variety of of veggies I mean isn’t that what it’s all about anyway 🤷🏽‍♀️ but I have a HUGE suggestion, WASH them properly please! My husband found 2 bugs in his food, they looked like roaches to me but I down played it so he won’t get so disgusted with what he just ate. Their sauces was served in a small portion plus it was last to be given as I believe it “wasn’t ready yet” according to our server. Nonetheless, I wouldn’t return here overall the food was not worth the price point.

Ate here during the soft opening. Good meat selection. Wish they had larger sauce plates as I use up my sauce after just a few dips. Clean restrooms. Fairly generous with the vegetables.

A grim quiet place on a Friday night. The quality of the ingredients is actually great, but the broth is a powered mix and it’s awful. Got a headache and felt ill from all the sodium. Service is too slow to make any meaningful decisions with the all you can eat plate.The atmosphere is quiet, poorly lit, and a bit depressing. A man was threatening us from one table over.
