New Peking Restaurant Cerritos
19131 Bloomfield Ave, Cerritos, CA 90703, United States
Yup, this is Chinese food, great value! I think the food would have tasted 2x better if I ate at the restaurant if it was crispy.Chicken chow mein, orange chicken, salt and pepper pork, small order of hot and sour soup. Total ended up at $46, to go order.Chow mein was just ok, I thought the noodles were a little too soft. Weird choice of zucchini and broccoli in it.Orange chicken was really good though! If Panda Express is your bench mark, Id say it tastes more like General Tsos chicken over orange chicken. Just a hint of tangy, flavored well, but that was exactly what I wanted.Salt and pepper pork was great! The pork was really tender and seasoned well. The small wasnt a small at all! Its a full size deli container of soup. Theres enough in there to have 4 rice bowls of soup. I think this came with fried noodle bits to throw in there. I think it was the chow mein noodles, I really liked this! Lightly sour, and mild. But it sure hit the spot.We also got a complimentary box of white rice and 4 fortune cookies.Again, value is all there. It was probably a meal for 5-6 with all thats there. I was told 30 minutes on the phone to pick up... It was probably much sooner than that and I missed the window of crispiness. Next time I want Chinese American food, Ill be coming back!Parking was easy, theres a lot thats pretty empty. I got there at 7pm on a Wednesday night and there was 1 table occupied (probably to-go is more popular?)
Umaya Ramen
11318 South St, Cerritos, CA 90703, United States
Ooooh... Okay. Its been a while since I have done a negative review. But it has also been a while since I have had mediocre service and blah food. And to have it at a ramen joint... Man.. that just grinds my gears!Umaya Ramen in Cerritos. Oh boy. When I first walked in I was half way greeted by a young man in faded jeans, a denim jacket and a ball cap. I couldnt really hear him so I just nodded. It took me a few seconds, but this guy was my greeter! I thought this guy was just another customer. I asked for a table and he basically pointed to any of the open tables. I sat down at a booth that was empty and narrowly missed the edamame beans all over the floor. I asked for a coke and a menu, when the denim clad host pointed to the QR code stand. Ohhhh.. its one of those ... I have only scanned a qr code once before at a restaurant, but ok. Go with the flow. I felt a little attitude as my host walked off to get my beverage.I eventually ordered the Umaya Ramen, which was a tonkotsu ramen. As I waited, I took notice of my surroundings .. supplies... Supplies...and more supplies. Napkins, sauces, order pads, boxes of spoons, all sorts of clutter. Then I noticed the staff. There were five. Three of them were on their phones. Well when its 12:30 and only 4 other people are in the joint, there is not much to do, like sweep the floor free of fallen food or clean the clutter. My bowl came and the first thing I notice is that I have no chili sauce or pepper . Ill try the soup . Plastic rinky dinky ice cream cup spoon. Where is the ramen!? I see egg, I see a half burnt piece of pork, ginger, naruto and mushrooms. I dig and oh... Chow mein noodles were in my bowl. Not ramen . Definitely not made in house. The broth was decent. It already had some chili oil in it so it had a slight kick. But... What... Wait.. why is there ground beef at the bottom of the bowl? Another waiter pulled himself away from his cellphone asked if I was okay, I lied and just nodded and waved him off. Mr. Faded Jeans came by with my bill before I could even ask for it.Yea... Not coming back. Pics speak for themselves. None of the staff could have been over 30 and it shows. An old school ramen joint master chef would be ashamed. I know I am.
WaBa Grill

I bought a salmon bowl, but as you can see in the pictures, the slice of salmon was like 3 oz only, very little and thin. And the rest was lots of rice. It is the first time I buy in any waba restaurants. But for me it was so so expensive to get only this for over $9 ??? since if I go Mimis restaurant I will get double salmon with veggies and rice for $13 and if I get a coupon from them I will get it for free in a Bogo. Secondly I ordered and then a couple ordered 2 plates and they were served first. So, I do not know what is going on in there but I am posting the real food pictures. Oh btw I am adding a measurement of the salmon piece the same large as a medium egg. And. As you can see there were no chopped onions on top, and if I wished to have little veggies Id had to pay a dollar extra ?. I do not think I will go back. But definitely in this location the owner does need to do something.
LUV DDUK - KFOOD
12243 Artesia Blvd, Cerritos, CA 90703, United States
We ordered the least amount of spice, called Honey. my friend pointed to it and said no spice. I think the waitress either misunderstood and put the next option little spice, or there is no such thing as no spice because my friend and I, (shes chinese, Im white) were dying. the only one of us who seemed completely fine was our Mexican friend. All the spice stuff aside, it did have decent flavor but everyone at our table agreed weve had better for a better price. The toppings we got were skimpy. it looks like the cheese was a stick of unshredded string cheese that they tossed on top before cooking. There were 4 of us and only 3 sausages (I was the one that went without a sausage so I cant tell you if they were good or not). We ordered garlic chicken wings, the server said they come garlic or fried. they may have well been both due to the extremely crunchy nature of the breading. it was hard, too hot to handle, and when one is to take a bite, youll get nothing but breading for the majority of the wing. I swear I spent a good 5 minutes or longer on one wing (trying to peel off some of the breading) and the net outcome was less than a full bite of meat. We ordered cheese corn which was a plate with a single layer of corn kernels on it topped with cheese and melted. There was not very much of that, as an appetizer meant to be shared between people we each got maybe two spoonfuls. The best thing on the menu that we tried was the Jumbo Bulgogi Fried Rice which was neither jumbo nor fried. It had crispy, salty strips of seaweed that added a good flavour and crisp to the rice and meat. The size of the plate was the same size as the plates they give the free (with meal) pasta salads and radishes. For one person its maybe a regular size, but definitely is not jumbo, and especially when youre sharing with the table. The yupdduk itself, nice chewy texture to the rice cakes and the fish cakes were tender and soft like how they are expected to be. Decent flavour but like I said earlier, honey isnt honey-like at all. It was so spicy that I was glad I ordered the chicken wings just so I could have the bucket (meant for bones) to put all of my napkins in. I ordered a drink at the beginning, strawberry sake, and Im glad I did because it was the really good brand of sake, plus we were constantly running out of water so while my mouth was on fire from the spiciness of the least spicy yupp... Overall it was $72 (paid with cash) and an $8 tip. I paid 20 something because of my drink and my friends all paid around 17 each. I think that adds up right Im not good at math. There was a bakery/Asian food/boba place around the corner that Im upset we didnt eat at instead. (my friend that suggested yupdduk had never actually eaten here and we picked on her about it all day)

Nestled in a corner of the bustling city, I stumbled upon a hidden gem that surpassed all my culinary expectations. This cozy little restaurant had an unassuming exterior, but once inside, it revealed its true charm. From the warm and inviting ambiance to the quick and attentive service, my dining experience at this establishment was nothing short of delightful.Lets dive right into the star of the show - the flavorful Uni Pasta. Bursting with the taste of the ocean, every bite was a symphony of flavors. The fresh and delicate uni (sea urchin) paired perfectly with the al dente pasta, creating a harmonious blend that left me craving for more. The chefs expertise in combining these ingredients was evident, as the dish showcased a perfect balance of umami and creaminess.Speaking of creaminess, the Japanese Style Mentai was a true indulgence for the palate. The creamy mentai sauce draped lovingly over a bed of succulent seafood, creating a tantalizing fusion of flavors. Each bite was an explosion of richness and umami, leaving me in awe of the culinary mastery behind this dish.Despite being a small establishment, the service was prompt and efficient. The staff members were attentive and friendly, ensuring that I felt comfortable throughout my meal. Despite the constant flow of customers, the waitstaff managed to provide quick service without compromising on quality. It was evident that they took pride in their work and genuinely cared about providing a memorable dining experience. The cozy decoration of the restaurant added to the overall charm. The warm color palette, soft lighting, and tasteful decor created an intimate atmosphere that made me feel right at home. The attention to detail in the interior design further enhanced the dining experience, making it a perfect place for a romantic dinner or a casual get-together with friends. In conclusion, this restaurant has truly won me over with its exceptional dishes and cozy ambiance. The flavorful Uni Pasta and creamy Japanese Style Mentai were undeniably the highlights of my meal, showcasing the chefs culinary expertise and passion for creating memorable flavors. The small size of the restaurant did not hinder the quality of service, as the attentive staff ensured a smooth and efficient dining experience. If youre looking for a place with incredible flavors and a cozy atmosphere, this restaurant should be at the top of your list.
Zomsa
10558 San Pablo Ave, El Cerrito, CA 94530, United States
An impressive array of vegan options (4/5 Green Stars)I would highly recommend trying out this Himalayan restaurant in El Cerrito. There are plenty of options for vegans and vegetarians and the quality every item we ordered was very high. I've had versions of each dish before but was impressed with Zomsa's versions and rate Zomsa as one of the best Himalayan restaurants around. The Aloo Tikki (crispy potato cake with mint and tamarind sauces – vegan, $6) was a great start. The Vegetarian Jhol Momos (dumplings filled with kale, butternut squash, mushrooms, and spices, served in a sauce made from cashews and peanuts – vegan, $14) were really good. Often vegetarian dumplings have forgettable fillings, but I found these momos to be very thoughtfully made and satisfying. The Vegetable Thakali Thali was a great combination of several items that each added to the meal (veg curry, lentil soup, pickled daikon, sautéed mustard greens, and a papad – vegan, $17). Impressed by how satisfying these vegan dishes were – you wouldn't even notice that the entire meal was plant-based.I'm giving Zomsa 4 out of 5 Green Stars for social and environmental impact, for these reasons:• Even though there are several meat dishes, I was impressed by how much of the menu is not just vegetarian but vegan. More than a dozen main courses are vegan, along with several appetizers. Adopting a plant-based diet is the top thing you can do to mitigate climate change and deforestation, besides avoiding animal cruelty and the negative impact of the meat industry on society.• Local beer is available on draft, mitigating packaging and transportation impacts.• The restaurant used to emphasize the use of organic ingredients, but I suspect that the prices became too high to sustain this in El Cerrito. Appreciate the effort though and hope that they still use some organic ingredients, when possible.
RiceString Noodle Shack

It’s one of my fav Cambodian restaurant so far, I usually like to find those mom and pop restaurants for Asian food, but this place definitely win my heart. The interior looks modern and clean, you might mistaken it as an Asian fusion restaurant, but it’s total legit Cambodian! My favorite is their loat cha with beef, the noodle is fresh, and the beef is tender, very generous portion too. Cha quai is fresh and soft inside, it’s the perfect texture. Phnom Penh house special is the bomb too, I ordered it with big rice noodle. Love this place, I’ll have to come back again.
85C Bakery Cafe - Cerritos
11486 South St, Cerritos, CA 90703, United States
This place has amazing Thai tea and coffee! I usually come here after eating here at Gen to give our sweet tooth a little something. LOL. I would give this place a higher rating but I recently ordered a cake from them on 10/07/21 which completely turned my perspective on them. I had called them to ask if they would be able to make an 8” strawberry deluxe cake with no toppings. I just wanted a flat surface since I wanted to write something special on top of it myself. The cashier spoke to the manager, while I was on the phone with them, and the cashier relayed the message that yes it is possible, so long as I write about it in the special instructions. I did just that. Come Sunday 10/10/21, my fiancé went to pick up the cake for me, since I had to run other errands, and he calls me telling me that the cake had toppings on it. My fiancé said that someone named Ryan was giving him a particularly hard time. My fiancé is not as outspoken as I am, so I decided to call to CLARIFY not to argue. I was greeted on the phone by a worker, who appeared to be in the back, busy, which is totally understandable given that it is Sunday. She told me I had to speak up LOUDER because she could not hear me, then she put me on hold, which I didn't mind, to speak to her manager about it. Simultaneously I was texting my fiancé asking him to double check there was toppings since I don't want to waste anyone's time and he said there WAS toppings on it. My fiancé had mentioned that the person named Ryan said that they couldn't do cakes without toppings. My fiancé finally texted me back and told me that they were going to remake it and flash freeze it. The manager on the other line also said their name was Ryan so I am unsure if it is a different Ryan or the same one giving my fiancé a hard time. This experience was more annoying/disheartening than anything because it totally negates the ordering online process/special instructions section since it appears that they didn't honor either, or bother to read it, since it is now 4pm and the pick up time was 3:30pm. The manager apologized but nothing else was done. I'm not asking for freebies or had any ill intentions, I just thought they would be more understanding. Anyways, I got my cake. Guess I should probably bake my own huh? It probably could have been prevented but since I have placed orders there before it was just based out of comfortability and convenience. I will not be placing anymore cakes here again. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.
Monora Thai Cerritos
11448 South St, Cerritos, CA 90703, United States
It doesnt matter if you win or lose....as long as you THAI!Ive been receiving Monoras advertisements in the mail for awhile now and finally decided to order some food today. I went with the January special of Chicken Pad Thai w/ Chicken Sate along with your choice of soup or salad, 2 egg rolls & 2 wontons. Called ahead for p/u in 10-15 minutes. The restaurant was visually appealing. Each table had a candle as a centerpiece & various artwork & sculptures adorned the walls. Definitely didnt miss the dragon situated between the tables against the wall. Very nice.Coming home, I dug into my order. The soup was sufficient. It consisted of broccoli, chicken, cabbage, carrots & 1 shrimp. It seemed like hot water was poured on these ingredients and labelled soup. The egg rolls & wontons were good. Crunchy & spicy thanks to the sweet chili sauce. The pad thai was very good, too. It wasnt too sour so its perfect for those that dont prefer strong flavors. The 4 chicken sate were tasty, especially when smothered in the delectable peanut sauce. Everything for $7.95. None too shabby, my dear Watson. My first time here and I consider Monora a winner. The restaurant is very close by & the specials will keep sucking you in, no matter how much you fight them. For once, forego your local drive-thru & pump n munch and head to Monora for some tasty Thai food.Excelsior.NOMNOMNOM
Kape Republik
17206 Norwalk Blvd, Cerritos, CA 90703, United States
This particular space in this plaza has seen quite a few businesses come and go. Kape Republik has what it takes to become a mainstay.1. Welcoming. The previous businesses did not offer much of tables and chairs to its patrons, but Kape Republiks cafe setup makes it more attractive for people to come in, and stay. The longer you stay, the more likely you are to get a refill on your mango ice tea, or your Ube Madeleine order. BUT, the outside needs to represent the beauty thats inside too. Im sure this will get updated eventually. One downside is that its facing the afternoon sun, and it could get a bit warm.2. Variety. Being a small bakeshop/cafe, they are not able to put EVERYTHING on their arsenal on display. So options do change, with a few unchanging popular staples. So do check back to see what else you could be missing. This is a bit of a con because although I was surprised to see new things the few times Ive been here, their pastries tend to run out.3. Friendly/Professional team. Except for one younger lady who did not seem as enthusiastic to be working, the rest, especially the older folks are super friendly and accommodating. One time when I had asked for ube and pandan muffins after they had just run out, the lady told me that shed be happy to make me more but it would take an hour. I said sure, since we will be here for a while as a few of our friends were still on their way. An hour later, fresh off the oven, there they were. And they were gone within 10 minutes. =)4. Food. Their pastries are decent; not super wow, but just right and could futher improve. My wife and I love the baked turon (banana and jackfruit normally wrapped in eggroll wrapper and deep fried with brown sugar) which was basically a turnover with the same ingredients. The ube and pandan Madeleines are also a huge hit although I personally could not taste much ube in the ube one, despite the purple hue. Try their flavored iced teas also, especially during the next few hot summer months.Overall, an intimate spot that could run out of both pastries and seating at any given afternoon. If you want to order a larger quantity, you are able to call a day or two ahead so that they can prepare it for you. I hope to see and try more treats that I havent yet experienced during my first 3 trips here within the past 30 days.
