Fairly good and fast sushi. Good pick of specialties and offers rice and noodle dishes for those who dont like sushi. The ramen was actually really good.Feb.2024 update: ordered here several times but keep forgetting to review it and post pictures. We odes quite a bit of sushi and they were all really good in taste and quality. The rolls are pretty big and you get your moneys worth. The fish was fresh and melted in my mouth. My son got the tempura udon and the tempura was really good but they didnt give enough of the accompanying sauce. Because we odes over$40 in good they added free chicken Karaage. The chicken was okay, the pieces were just a bit too small though like they were crumbs from the bottom of the frying basket. The taste was a bit too salty for my liking.Overall, I would definitely order from here again. ?
Namaste Pizza
5942 San Pablo Ave, Oakland, CA 94608, United States
Update: Hairnets in place, deliciousness still there. Back to beat pizza in town.New fave is the minty turkey pizza! Try it, you wont regret it.First, I have to say I really like their pizza flavors (and Im not alone) - the chicken pizza masala is awesome. However, my last order left me a bit sad for two reasons:1. The delivery person called back accusing us of not paying enough in cash. I can understand the frustration losing a $20 can cause and the resulting call back. Both me and my wife know for a fact the stack of over $60 was absolutely correctly counted. I dont hold this against them and wish we counted it when we exchanged pizzas for cash. Going to pay closer attention next time - you, the reader, should as well.2. Our beloved chicken pizza masala had hair in it, embedded in the cheese - not one hair but two long hairs, in two different slices - we had to throw away. Evidence attached.Notice I did not subtract a lot of stars for this! Because I like their pizza THAT much and hope they fix the issue and continue to sell their lovely pizza.**** They have to enforce using __hair nets__ when making the pies! ****Looking forward to a reply confirming the above and will update my review accordingly, and eating their pizza again (call me crazy, but I will still order it)!
Tsing Tao
12372 San Pablo Ave, Richmond, CA 94805, United States
Our favorite Chinese delivery! Even long before the pandemic and definitely through it, theyve continuously provided top quality fresh and delicious food with friendly drivers who are following safety protocols. Good prices for large plates so youll be set for leftovers or plenty for 3+ people. If you havent yet.. give them a try ?Update. March 2022Food is still awesome. Delivery drivers are friendly and fast. HOWEVER: Recent fees and attitude from the staff about it are a huge turn off for me. Delivery fees, convenience fees, and tips when there were none before added about $10-15 to my orders. I ordered lunch specials online, which let me make additions to rice choices for only $1.00 but even with pick up at restaurant there was an additional convenience fee. After I placed the order anyway, they immediate called and said they would not honor my choices from the online order because it was a lunch special. If there wont do that, it shouldnt be offered online and surely they shouldnt argue about it. I canceled the order and went to Panda Express. No, not as high quality but the food there is good, no hidden fees, and no attitude or guilt trips from the staff. I dont know when I will go back to Tsing Tao, but it will be a long time before I call them again.Aug 2023 update: I started ordering and picking up orders to avoid fees, etc. I see different staff who have been friendly and have not had any issues recently so Im happy to be enjoying their great food once again. I have 3 star on atmosphere since its a small, hole in the wall kind of place, but its clean and inviting... I still rather just get take out.

Belly
1901 San Pablo Ave, Oakland, CA 94612, United States
This use to be a taco shop, sold cheap tacos, decent. Havent been here in a while and my friend was like lets go to Belly. I dont know when it changed owners, but it was a nice surprised. The tacos are pretty stuffed (bigger than Mexican street tacos) with Asian fillings. The menu isnt too big, but interesting enough that makes me want to go back and try other things. Food items runs $4.00 and up. I ended up with the Belly taco (which is their house taco with beef, cabbage slaw with their house sauce) and a pork belly taco. I also got an order of tempura onion rings. I found the pork belly just ok, it was a thick piece of pork belly, but it didnt have the sear or crispiness I was hoping for.The tacos are filling, so I over ordered. Either one taco with onion rings or just two tacos. You can get a combo taco with fries and a drink, which is a better choice. This place gets pretty busy at lunch time. We got there a little early and when we sat down, the line was out the door. There isnt many tables, maybe 8 inside and 2 outside. If you have more than 4 people in your group, seating will be difficult. There isnt room to move tables around.

I am writing to inform you of an unfortunate incident that occurred during my recent visit to your establishment, which is located next to my residence and work at USC. After dining at your restaurant yesterday, I contracted food poisoning, experiencing symptoms such as severe headache, nausea, and vomiting. As a student who is often pressed for time, the proximity of your establishment to my residence is greatly appreciated. However, the negative experience has left me with deep concerns about the safety of your food preparation/storage process. I was not the only one affected by this incident as two other residents of the Currie Hall have also reported similar symptoms after consuming food from your establishment.I sincerely hope that your management will take the necessary steps to investigate and address the root cause of the issue, and ensure that such incidents do not occur in the future. It is imperative that such incidents are prevented as they can have a significant impact on the lives of students who are already burdened with academic and professional obligations.Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.

5 years after this lovely little place opened just a block from me, Im pleased as heck to update my review to 5 stars. Theyve deserved it off and on over the years, with the biggest fluctuations in quality and consistency being in the cocktails. But now they have a really solid bar team doing innovative and delicious things, and as this joins an always-outstanding food program, I couldnt recommend it more highly.Chef Scott is *still* producing great food at a generally reasonable price point (for this level of quality), with a variety of Latin and Asian influences keeping things interesting. And now the cocktails measure up as well! The Glass cocktail on the current menu, with strawberry-infused gin and sabayon custard is unlike anything Ive had before, unique and delicious. And the previous cocktail menu also had some real stand-outs. The wine program has always been solid, as I understand it, but Im a cocktail guy, so... ?On recent visits the food has been consistently inventive and delicious, with some memorable recent bites including the King Salmon Onigiri, Filet Mignon (they actually make it interesting and worthwhile!), and the now sadly departed (but mind-blowing) Umami Burger. The desserts, meanwhile, have *always* been excellent, and remain so with the combined team of Marvyn and Juliana bringing their respective experiences and cultural influences to create a more varied and exciting dessert menu than ever. The Smoked Chocolate Ganache was one of my favorites of late, but its ever-changing, so just trust that almost anything you try will be great. The stranger and more interesting it sounds, the more you should try it! Parmesan ice cream? Yes! (one of my favorite things ever from a prior dessert menu)The interior is nicely appointed and a good mix of casual with just the right amount of upscale feel to be good for date night, etc. The bar being situated right next to the door is a bit non-ideal however, since you get a regular blast of cold air as people come and go. The bar seats also arent particularly comfortable to lean back in, despite having seat backs which is not always to be found in bar seating. Nevertheless its nice to have a first-come bar option and a full bar at that. The back patio is the real win as far as seating goes, though. Covered and sheltered, but still open, nicely designed, good spacing between tables, heat if needed, but its usually not too chilly. A great outdoor, COVID-safe option! And the staff, well, theyre all delightful. This has always been a tight-knit and supremely welcoming group of people. Service is down to earth, professional but comfortable, and not at all stuffy. Lovely people. So J&M is highly recommended. Its now one of my favorite restaurants in the Bay Area!
310 Eatery- LA Style Street Food
747 San Pablo Ave, Albany, CA 94706, United States
I saw all the great reviews on this place so I decided to try it out. The staffs are nice and friendly, but it was a bit shady. I ordered $7 Albany burger. The waitress lady went to the kitchen counter and came back. She asked me, Do you want grass fed beef or classic? I asked her what the difference was. She replied, One of them ate grass while alive and the other was eating grains and bad junk food. I took that as... do you want an unhealthy beef or cough up extra $$$ and get a healthy food? I just ordered $4 thai tea with the classic Albany burger which I was thinking it would cost $7. She went to the kitchen counter and came back again. She asked me if I wanted cheese. I said, sure. Then she asked me, do you want eggs? I asked her, does it come with it? She said I can customize my burger. I said, ok. Then she asked me if I wanted grilled or raw onions. I said, uhh grilled is fine. She brought thai tea out. Again, very nice and friendly... I saw that it was on coca cola cup. When I pay $4, I expect at least to have glass or plastic cup. Not a paper cup that holds soda. That isnt a big deal.I will tell you the reason why I am giving the rating I am giving... The burger was juicy, but it was super greasy. Grease was flooding the plate. It did taste pretty decent, but it felt very unhealthy. My body felt it not long after I finished the food. If I were to eat this burger from this place once a week or 2, I felt like I would get a heart attack within matter of few months.Right before the check, it was nice for her to ask me if I wanted another thai tea refill on the house. I thanked her but refused the offer because thai tea was way too sweet. I know thai tea is a sweet drink, but this particular one tasted sweeter than the other thai teas I drink from other places. When I got my bill, they added $1 for cheese, $1 for onions, $2 for eggs. Literally, the burger you pay for only comes with patty and a beef. I wish they were upfront about the charges. I suspected they may charge additional for eggs, but I did not expect them to charge additional for onions and cheese lol. She went about like which do you? rather than these are additional costs, do you want them? After all said and done, it was almost $19 for a burger and a thai tea.Although they were nice, I left that place with bad taste in the mouth just because they werent upfront about things. And my body is feeling all that unhealthy beef that was eating grains and junk food... all that grease...I do regret coming here and wont be coming back.
Shinmai

Location: Really good place if you can find it. Hidden in plain sight. Even though Ive been here a couple of times, I can never get used to the fact that I have to guess which door to get into.Wait times: Usually theres always a good long wait list, Fridays and Saturdays are usually completely booked. I decided to go here in the middle of a winter storm, on a Wednesday night, I still had to wait half an hour to be finally seated on a community table. (I dont particularly mind it, but it does bother some people)Ambience: The ambience is really nice, not too brightly lit or loud.Service: In one of my previous visits we sat on the bar and had fun with the bar tender serving up his off the menu cocktail creations which was a lot of fun. The staff is really polite. The service is pretty prompt. I loved the sake recommendations our server had.Food: Overall good food. I love ramen and unfortunately that makes me a little picky at times. Definitely one of the better ramen spots in Oakland. I like my ramen to have a little more broth and meat than whats on the menu, but overall it tasted really nice. I liked both the Tonkotsu ramen and the Shoyu ramen. The spicy himitsu paste on the side is a must. The karaage chicken, pork belly and mushroom tempura were also nice. All the cocktails and sake were great. We had cheesecakes for dessert and they were amazing. Overall the food was great.
