Venus Chinese Restaurant
972 N Grand Ave, Covina, CA 91724, United States
Ordered takeout for our first time from here tonight. As I waited and watched food coming out into the dining room from the kitchen... the plates of food looked amazing! Unfortunately my familys experience, once we arrived home and opened up our packages of food, was less than satisfactory. My fried sole was cooked just right but no flavor, sauce or rice... we had 2 orders of orange chicken, 1 spicy & 1 mild, they both tasted exactly alike, bland, slightly dry, large portions and again, no rice or broccoli (like in the picture) We had an order of their house rice which was ok. The fried dumplings were good. Crab and cheese stuffed wontons and spring rolls were over cooked and greasy. Prices were reasonable. The dining room appeared clean but my shoes stuck to the carpet in a few places... staff was friendly. If I were to eat there I would rather listen to music while I eat than watching the TV... my family and I will most likely never return... this night wasted $65+ of our money and we had hoped to eat it for 2 nights... and we will give our opinions to our friends...
Restaurant Hayakawa
750 Terrado Plaza #33, Covina, CA 91723, United States
Tonight was my first visit here. What a pleasant experience!A very friendly woman greeted me. I told her that I found their restaurant by googling popular restaurants in Covina, Ca. She was interested and so I showed her the search and ratings. The atmosphere is very relaxing with beautiful Japanese decor. The salmon with teriyaki was delicious and tender. It was a generous serving. It came with a salad, miso soup, rice, and a small appetizer, noodles in broth.Since I was there on a Sunday night about 45 min before closing, it wasnt busy. There was just a quiet couple and me. So, if you go on a Friday or Saturday night, it might be busier. The quality is worth the price.Personally, I recommend it for singles, couples or small groups;probably not for a typical family with young kids on a budget.I will definitely visit again. Its highly recommended!
Sweety Hut Thai Restaurants
1215 S Glendora Ave, West Covina, CA 91790, United States
Parking:The restaurant is conveniently located inside a plaza with 24 parking spots available (2 parking spots are reserved for the liquor store. It has green paint on the curb that says 5 min parking and 1 wheelchair accessible blue parking). However, even if the parking lot is full, there is street parking available on S Glendora Ave right next to it.Service:Upon entering Sweety Hut Thai, we were warmly greeted by Ken, our server for the night. Ken provided exceptional customer service throughout our dining experience, making us feel welcomed and attending to our needs. His friendly service and attentiveness added to the overall positive dining experience.Atmosphere:The place is easily identifiable within the plaza, thanks to the big Thai Restaurant sign on the building. The interior was clean and well-maintained, creating a pleasant ambiance for diners. The restaurant was semi-empty, which may have been due to the drizzly weather or the late hour.Food & Pricing:Sweety Hut Thai offers a wide selection of Thai dishes to choose from. We ordered the Pad Thai combo, which came with fried wonton, salad, fried rice, and a complimentary veggie soup (only for dine-in) priced at $12.45. The Tom Yum soup, customizable in spice level (Mild/Medium/Hot/Extra Hot), also priced at $11.95, was particularly delicious. Additionally, we enjoyed the Pad See Ew with chicken for $11.95. Its worth noting that a 15% service charge applies for groups of 6 or more. Overall, the food was above average and budget-friendly priced.Overall:Sweety Hut Thai is a solid choice if youre craving Thai food. The combination of excellent service (Ken is the man!), budget-friendly pricing, and tasty dishes make it a worthwhile dining experience. This places closes at 10pm so whether youre a late-night eater or looking for a place to satisfy your Thai food cravings, this restaurant offers a welcoming atmosphere and a menu with plenty of options to choose from.Attached are pictures of the outside building and inside. I have also attached the menu which has a lot of options to choose from as well as the food we ordered.Date and Time of Visit: June 2023 on a Sunday at 8:30 PM.
Manila Sunset Restaurant - West Covina
2550 Amar Rd a13, West Covina, CA 91792, United States
I went to this restaurant before it was remodeled and I really liked it. Last Thursday, I had lunch there since the good, old memories brought me there. However, I was very disappointed! The egg roll was only 1/3 size of the normal size and it was lacking the vegetables inside and over fried; the beef soup was in a very small cup and all the vegetables on the top was about to fall off the cup; the famous Philipino pancit or fry noodle, was not the authentic or original : there were only 3 pieces of small shrimps on the top, not even a small piece of egg or squid or cooked vegetables. The amount of food was very small and the beef in the soup was very tough. I spent 15 $ for lunch but I left half hungry.I miss the previous, old memory and the food in this same location, but not now.
Elephant Bar Restaurant
200 S Vincent Ave, West Covina, CA 91790, United States
People are friendly and the service is great. the cook preparing...eh, not so much. three times ive gotten the pot roast which tastes ok, but the carrots are always raw. stick w/the baked potato because the mashed tastes funny. the rib eye is definitely not worth it. for the price, they could at least cook it right. I asked for medium, but got well done. it didnt resemble a rib eye at all. salt and pepper might have helped. dont let the grill marks fool you. sizzler is better, and i dont care for sizzlers. the sauteed spinach was fine and the salad was good.all together I dont think well return. the quality has gone down. it might be due to the manager who wasnt sitting far. I wrote the comment about the steak on the receipt and he did nothing at all. weve been to a wide range of restaurants, price wise...its rare that well complain, has to be pretty bad. most mgrs care about how their food is received. not this one. it wasnt busy AND weve given this branch a lot of chances. a shame because the servers are very good and the bar seems great too.
CHEERS CAFE
1414 S Azusa Ave B1, West Covina, CA 91791, United States
Late night spot in West Covina which is great if youre looking for Asian meat skewers such as lamb and beef. This place closes around 11:00 so its open late considering most places in West Covina close at around 9:00I ordered lamb skewers which were great and fried chicken skin skewers which I absolutely loved. No its not a Japanese restaurant they did have me so soup and it was one of the better ones Ive had.
Tian You Feng Dumpling House
1428 S Azusa Ave Ste A, West Covina, CA 91791, United States
I entered Tian You Feng Dumpling House at 5pm when they opened with my sister and service dog, Canelo. We attempted to sit down and a staff member by the name of Michael Wang approached me and asked for my service dogs license. I responded with although my dog is licensed it is against the Federal ADA laws to ask for his license. May I have the owners name please? Another associate came out to reinforced what Michael was saying and said she would Google it to make sure that what I was saying was true. While she was googling, Michael went outside to a white Tesla parked directly in front of the restaurant and came back saying that they could not allow access unless I produced Canelos license. After Michael returned I asked again, may I have the owners name please? He responded with Im the owner and we have the right to refuse service to anyone. I exclaimed no you may not on the basis of discrimination! Thats very illegal in any state. At this time the other employee returns after having googled the law saying that I may be seated as long as my dog is a service dog. At this point in the conversation I was extremely uncomfortable and did not feel my food handling would be within safety standards if I had chose to continue with my meal at this establishment so I left. After going to my car and looking up the business owners public information on the Secretary of States website I, to no surprise, found that Michael was not the owner. A Li Liu was the name on most documents along with Marvin Hsu. I then returned into the restaurant and asked Michael whose names are on the business license and why did you lie about being the owner? He responded that he was the manager and sorry for lying.I really hope this facility comes to the understanding of what equal access laws are and abides by them so that everyone feels comfortable dining here. I do not recommend this place to anyone who has a service dog.
Cozy Thai Cuisine
2550 Amar Rd Ste 7, West Covina, CA 91792, United States
Updates:Jul 2022:A dishonest restaurant! I wrote $17.37 on my receipt but found I was charged $18.34 on my credit card. The restaurants I went to never charge me more than what I wrote. This is the first one. How can you do business if you are so dishonest?2 years ago:I used to be a loyal customer but got very offended by the attitude of the lady (I guess she is the owner) who took my order tonight. Before I begin my story, I need to say I am giving 5 stars to the chefs and servers. Called at 7:25pm for a Tom Yum noodle. The lady who answered the phone responded with “that's it?” in an angry and discriminatory tone. During the 40-minute of wait, all the people who arrived later than I do already got their orders. One thing I found in common though, they all walked away with a big order. It was then that I realized my small order was being discriminated against and placed till the last to be served. It then makes whole sense why she responded with “that's it” earlier. Feeling is so bad! What's wrong with ordering only one dish? Since you do not seem up to it, I will not place any from now on.
37.2 Degree Cafe & Curry
3646 S Nogales St #A, West Covina, CA 91792, United States
I recently had the pleasure of dining at 37.2 Degree Cafe and Curry and I can confidently say that this restaurant deserves nothing less than a glowing 5-star review. From the calamari appetizer to the pork cutlet curry, the portion size was just right and was very tasty. Also included in the photos are two off menu items (sweet potato and fried oyster) which were very delicious. In addition to the exceptional food and service, I must mention the impeccable cleanliness gave me a modern vibe of Asian-American inspired cuisine. The owners are very nice and welcoming and I cant wait to return and explore more of the menu. Highly recommended!
70s Saga Ramen & Curry
204 S Glendora Ave, West Covina, CA 91790, United States
It was late night, I was dying for some Japanese curry and sushi.Found this place online and I ordered to go for this places katsu curry and also rainbow roll. Their sushi rice are actually just regular rice, not seasoned which is kind of disappointing for a sushi place since it diminishes the flavor. The fishes they used in the roll are not the freshest fish, or the better area of the fish, as the fish tasted a bit off. I can see why this place didnt really collect the best review.Their curry was not bad, however the rice portion seem like it was more than the curry and meat for the price.Would order to go again for curry as there isnt many places that make curry now. However wont ever come back here for sushi to go since their rice is so bland and unflavored.
