Lotus Restaurant
625 Oak Grove Ave Unit B, Menlo Park, CA 94025, United States
If you are following me... well you know I like Asian food. I actually like Vietnamese food amongst my ? fave.I found a place, northern California. Its newly opened as Lotus Restaurant. The owner is Vietnamese Chinese and he just opened 4 months ago and completely renovated the place. The restaurant has Asian fusion food ? going on...Atmosphere - Minamilistic, clean, and tidy. I loved the vibe. The food is delicious. The Pho was perfect. My daughter ordered Hawaiian Teriyaki chicken... and gobbled up her macaroni salad because just loved it.Great place for singles. Couples or family.
Dashi Japanese Restaurant
873 Hamilton Ave, Menlo Park, CA 94025, United States
This is by far the worst japanese restaurant in all of bay area because it is not really a japanese restaurant - its run under false pretense either by Korean or Chinese people. The food was absolutely tasteless. Sushi were the size of a nickel each & $8 gets you 6 of them. My wife & I went there at 8:45pm, & the restaurant closes at 9pm. Sushi chefs left at exactly 9pm. Nobody cleaned anything at all: yup the counter where the slice & dice the fish was absolutely untouched. The waitress switched off the TV at 915 pm, while were still eating. She brings the check as we are eating & asks us to pay up cause the restaurant is technically closed! Will never ever go there again.

As in most Asian restaurants, they need Customer Service training.I ordered the 7-piece sashimi, and I had to get my magnifying glasses out to find the pieces?Ill go back, but not for the Sashimi.I normally get twice the amount, at half the price, again this is the Bay area.
Mitsunobu
325 Sharon Park Dr, Menlo Park, CA 94025, United States
Located in the area where Silicon Valley SU (startup) is heldI was taken to a kappo restaurant that Steve Jobs often went to!counter seats[Jobs usual seat]It seems that it was...I sat down hoping to feel better, but the drinks were delicious.(Thank you to TOMO Mitsunobu for allowing me to reserve this counter seat!)This area is located in the SU ecosystem where startups from all over the world are happening every day!By the way, hereThe San Jose metropolitan area has the third highest GDP per capita in the world (behind Zurich, Switzerland and Oslo, Norway) and, as of June 2021, has the highest percentage of homes priced over $1 million in the United States. The first glass is white wine because its from California. For the second and subsequent drinks, I brought my own sake and had TOMO Mitsunobu pair it with me!Even in California, the nights at this time of year are chilly. At times like these, [Dobin steaming] is very refreshing. The soup stock works well and of course its delicious.Ingredients are flown in from Tsukiji every day.Kubota Daiginjo and smoked amberjack flavor! ! I felt refreshed~The marriage of authentic Japanese food and sake is great! The clerk is also polite and taciturn, Mr. Tomo.If you ask a question, they will answer accordingly. As it says on the menu...Its a course with a story ^_^Impressed by sea grapesI really love chawanmushi, but the main ingredient is sea urchin! Its deliciousThe ingredients are fresh, and the sake goes well with a warm atmosphere that makes you think youre in Tokyo.Meat (Kagoshima Wagyu beef)Its hearty and the gravy is delicious!Isnt it a safe amount for men too? After this, pork rice will also be served. The sake pairing is “Katsuyama” Ken (KEN).[Sake that tastes like wine]An elegant sake with a gentle yet beautiful aroma, a smooth drinking experience, and a rich flavor from the second half. It is slightly dry, with a gentle acidity that creates a good balance with the rich flavor. It goes well with dishes that emphasize the texture of the ingredients, dishes with a light flavor, and seafood. Its quiet, the service is decent, and the restrooms are inside the restaurant, so its safe and secure. When you go overseas like this, you start to feel a sense of identity, but the stories of the wise men who have been doing business here for a long time also give me a lot of information! All orders are in English, everyone around is English~This is Silicon Valley, California♪I will go again!#California#SteveJobss favorite place#Kappo cuisine #Japanese cuisine
Shiok Singapore Kitchen
1137 Chestnut St, Menlo Park, CA 94025, United States
Food was good. Service was terrible.I was excited to try out laksa that my friend had recommended, but my excitement died immediately when I came to pick up my order. The one and only waitress that was on shift was rude and impolite to say the least. I came to pick up during my work hours and was tight on my schedule. I came just on time to pick up my order only to have her treat me very rudely. She told me I had to wait FIVE minutes when I came just ONE minute before the scheduled pickup time and in a manner that was condescending. When I received the app notification on my pickup a minute later (i.e., exactly on time), she gave me the order from the kitchen and said not a single word (like “here you go”). And even when I was leaving, she did not say a single thank you or goodbye. Yes, I get that she was the only person on the shift. I've been there myself and know how it goes. I myself have worked in the hospitality industry before, and this is absolutely not how one treats customers, regardless of whether the staff is stretched thin. This was my first time visiting the restaurant, and it's a shame it left such unpleasant memories in just less than five minutes. If this is how I get treated for what was supposed to be a simple pickup, I can't imagine staying there longer, like to dine in. I doubt I will come back.
Mrs Khan Uyghur Cuisine
712 Santa Cruz Ave, Menlo Park, CA 94025, United States
This place is simply incredible. A wonderfully executed central Asian fare with a unique Uighur twist. Chicken korma is unreal. The interplay of numbing chillies and ginger with amazingly tender chicken and potatoes is outerwordly. The polov is delicious. Gosh Naan is so yummy, a throwback to Turkish borek or Russian cheburek. Unbelievable. I cant recommend this restaurant enough. You wont regret. One word of warning: most things are somewhat spicy.

M & R Auto Repair Shop - Menlo Park, CA
1281 El Camino Real, Menlo Park, CA 94025, United States
M & R Automotive receives my absolute highest recommendation. I have been coming here for almost three years and have never received anything but excellent service. I actively recommend M & R to family and friends who have all reported the exact same experiences.Even now having moved ~25 minutes away, I still come here for all my automotive needs from oil changes to serious repairs. The reason for making the trek is simple: I fully trust these guys. Ronaldo heads up the front office and before every repair has always given me the full breakdown in terms of options, pros and cons, and personal recommendations in clear terms. No swindling, no bait and switch, no upsells, no nothing besides the honest truth. And on top of that, he also happens to be just about the nicest guy I have ever met. In fact, everyone I have interacted with in the shop has been nothing less than genuinely helpful. Before M & R, I would dread having to bring my car into a mechanic as I imagine most people do. But since I started coming here, stopping by every few months is something I look forward to. Kind of like those weird people that actually enjoy going to the dentist....Another plus side is that there are a bunch of good restaurants and coffee shops a few minutes walk away to grab a bite to eat or sit down to work for the day while you wait.So if you are looking for a mechanic, give these guys a shot. Ronaldo and the rest of the team will take care of the rest.
Bistro Vida
641 Santa Cruz Ave, Menlo Park, CA 94025, United States
Bistro Vida used to be our favorite go-to place for celebrations (3-4 times a year in the past 5 years). Weve been on good terms with the owner Ali as well (hes big soccer fan:). He always welcomed us with a glass of bubbles right away (was on the bill of course but thats ok - still a nice gesture).Over the past years, weve started to feel that the focus has moved from quality to quantity but we still went given the personal connection, etc.During Covid closures the terrace opened up (fantastic!) and then it expanded, and expanded again. As so often it happens the quality and attention we loved so much simply couldnt keep up. The place totally lost its charm :(Then a lunch experience last week just made us realize that Vida transformed into something which is no longer what we loved so much about it.There were already issues with ordering, then appetizer was brought together with the Entrée (which was semi-cold)... but true shock came when we wanted to pay - apparently there was no internet for over a day so card reader wasnt working. Instead of getting a mobile internet they demanded to put down our card number on the back of the bill or pay cash. We had no such an amount of cash on us and didnt feel comfortable leaving the card detail totally exposed. We offered to pay Paypal, Venmo or even to come back the other day to pay. It was all dismissed first with cheap jokes (I need the money to buy a new pair of shoes) then that they need to close the books each day. Maybe... but once again Ali is the owner!!! Anyway appreciate the past and good luck for the future and maybe you can find your way back to greatness
Galata Bistro Mediterranean Grill
827 Santa Cruz Ave #4609, Menlo Park, CA 94025, United States
Came here on a Saturday for lunch. Plenty of tables available so we sat inside. The decor was simple, clean and homey and nondescript. I will say flat out that the food was some of the best Mediterranean food I've ever had.The first item was complimentary bread and olive oil. The bread was nice and fresh, soft and warm. A really nice starter. For appetizers, we had the dolmas and the baba ganoush. The dolmas in particular were SO good. The baba ganoush had a nice slightly smoky taste which, when paired with the warm pita bread, was like comfort food. For main dishes we had the ribeye wrap+side salad and the salmon wrap+fries. The ribeye in particular was amazing. Cooked perfectly and lots of flavor. The salmon wrap I felt was not as good but still excellent, cooked perfectly and tasted fresh. The prices were moderate, bordering on the pricey side but so worth it. Everything tasted insanely good and fresh. As we walked out the door after eating I was already thinking about when I'd come back for dinner to try more great food.
Camper
898 Santa Cruz Ave, Menlo Park, CA 94025, United States
TL, DR: The food here was pretty good, especially for the Peninsula. Had it cost a bit less, and had the service been a bit better, it would have been 4-stars.I took my boyfriend here for his birthday and overall, we had a good time. We ran into a snag when we first arrived - we were a bit early for our reservation and our table was still occupied. Not a problem, we grabbed seats at the bar to get a drink. At the time of our reservation, though, our table was still occupied. Ultimately, we wound up sitting at the bar. Not a huge deal, but not great start to what was meant to be a special meal. I reminded the host about his birthday, and I was hoping that we might get a glass of champagne to celebrate, especially after the table snafu. No such luck.We ordered a bunch of things to share - the oysters, deviled eggs, tuna crudo, burrata, and a steak. The oysters were fine, nothing special. At $4, they seemed about $1 too expensive, but ok. The deviled eggs looked bland when they arrived but they actually tasted better than they looked. Lots of garlic, which I liked. The tuna crudo looked amazing but tasted only ok. The texture of the tuna was a little off for me, as if it was a day old, and it was lacking in any real flavor. The other bits, like the guava and sour limes, had lots of flavor, but I really wanted to revel in the raw tuna and that felt like a missed opportunity here. The burrata was great. If the bread was a bit toasted, this would have been a 5-star dish. So creamy, so rich, balanced with some earthy flavors of artichoke, radicchio, and sunchoke puree. Id definitely order it again. The filet mignon stole the show. Medium rare leaning towards rare, the sauce added richness, the crispy kale gave good texture on the side, and the potatoes were really crunchy outside. At the end of the meal we were handed a dessert menu and told we know its your birthday, but is there anything else you want for dessert? We assumed that meant something was coming and we were beyond stuffed already so we said no. Apparently no dessert was coming, so our waitress gave my boyfriend a little birthday hat stick for his drink. It felt forced and disappointing. We asked for the check, and then Im not sure what happened, but next thing we knew we had a scoop of ice cream with a candle in it. Im not sure if there was a mix up or what, but it all just felt... weird. The meal came to about $275 with drinks, tax, and tip. It was about $75 more than I thought it deserved, maybe a little more when you consider the table / bar situation. All in all though, my boyfriend was happy, which is all that matters. The food was tasty and I wouldnt mind going back, though next time Id just stick to the steak.
