Chopstix Vietnamese Restaurant
1244 Munras Ave, Monterey, CA 93940, United States
You only fail when you stop trying to find a good food. I was in the mood for a Vietnamese cuisine in the Monterey area and with Siri’s help, she directed me to Chopstix. Chopstix is an asian fusion Vietnamese restaurant that offer a wide variety of Pho, noodle soups, rice bowls and boba drinks. Bingo! It’s located in the corner of Munrasa and Robles aves by the 1 PCH fwy in Monterey. We arrived today to grab a late lunch and one of the staff gave a perfunctory greeting. We sat the middle of the restaurant near the 50 inch tele. Indoor dine in was spacious, neat and odor free. We perused their menu and was flabbergasted by their wide spread food/boba list. We ordered pho’s, shrimp rolls and boba teas. I asked for spoon and fork since Im not skilled enough to use chopstick. Lol. Hehehe. Their food were great and very flavorful. Similarly, the boba teas and slush and boba pearl were taste good. I enjoyed it! Service was on point. Serving was slightly above average. Prices were reasonable. Rear parking lot was available. Overall, we had a good food experience. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Yama Sushi Bar & Restaurant
1290 Del Monte Center #92, Monterey, CA 93940, United States
Location: great location, it in Del Monte Shopping Center. It’s easy spotted from the parking lot. They shopping center has a huge parking lot. Love it when I don’t have to search or fight over parking spots. The restaurant is beautifully decoration with Asian decor. They have inside seating, bar seating, and outside patio seating. So I guess you can say this is good for groups. There are a variety of sushi rolls to pick from and other hot food items. The sushi is beautifully presented but the taste, it was ok. The rice was a bit over cooked for my liking. I loved soft shell crab, here they were heavily breaded, can barely taste the crab. But the service was good. Our waitress smiled a lot and she checked on us frequently.
Duck House Restaurant
501 S Atlantic Blvd, Monterey Park, CA 91754, United States
YUM! Came here on a Wednesday night for dinner with a group of 8. We made 7:30pm reservations and ordered two peking ducks a couple of days beforehand. Even more awesome - they seated our group in one of their private rooms!! Which is good because we were so loud lol.FOOD:- peking duck - yummy! Served with thin pancake skins instead of the usual white buns (less carbs!) But oh so good! Duck was moist and flavorful and the skin was crispy and on point.- eel over sticky rice - easily the second best dish of the night! I LOVE eel! The eel was plump and tasty and the rice was nicely seasoned with the eel sauce.- szechuan (yu xiang) style eggplant - I love eggplant and this was delish! Slightly spicy, super soft and slippery - just the way the dish should be!- sizzling tofu with basil - hot! Be careful when you bite into it - nice basil flavor, super crisp on the outside with super soft tofu insides.- crispy golden shrimp - looked like calamari. Too much breadcrumbs, I was disappointed in this dish.SERVICE:Quick! Well, the room had a button to press every time you wanted service so thats probably why lol. We sat around after our meal and talked for a good hour too and they just left us alone.PARKING/VENUE:Theres a small parking lot, which was all full but theres plenty of street parking. Venue is large (its an Asian restaurant) and bathrooms are clean.Would def come back!
Shinano Restaurant
1106 S Atlantic Blvd, Monterey Park, CA 91754, United States
Old school Japanese and sushi restaurant with many traditional menu items. Food ranged from good to excellent and service was top notch, although may have been a little overwhelmed when the restaurant hits its peak (around 6-7pm on the day we went which was a Sunday). We were celebrating my mom's birthday and in a large group of 11. We were able to use a side room, just off the main dining room, which was very cool as we were loud and messy :). They also have some traditional Japanese dining areas, sit down style, which looked to accommodate groups up to 8 people or so. Not sure if they are staffed for that, but may be an option with up front notice - sorry, forgot to take pics :(.We ordered too many items to list, but some key takeaways. Their “boats” can definitely serve more than 2 people as noted. The sashimi and California rolls that come with the boat is very small, but otherwise huge servings and probably serve four people, especially if you add a few sushi, sashimi or rolls. Steamed clams appetizer was delicious and again, larger serving than anticipated. Grilled squid was also a standout. Whole squid, grilled to perfection. Spicy tuna nachos, Brussels sprouts and jalapeño Hamachi were also table favorites. Nigiri sushi, which is what I ordered was good. Not really a standout, but if you are there with a group and want to try different types of dishes, this is the place to go.Service was really friendly and helpful, except when they were very busy, but we were there from 5-8pm and for the most part very happy. Especially how helpful they were with some of the extra service that comes with a birthday (think cake, extra plates, candles, lighter, etc) and large group (think extra plates, bowls and chopsticks for sharing).Consensus was that we will be back for future group dinners due to the side room, food and service. The one thing I would ask them to work on is their restrooms. Women's restroom didn't have liners and men's restroom didn't have paper towels. They addressed it as soon as we brought it up, but seems like an easy item to fix before opening.Hoping to update to a 5 star review after the next visit!
Siam Thai Restaurant
17120 Monterey Hwy, Morgan Hill, CA 95037, United States
So we went here for thr first time tonight. Ordered Pad Thai and per reading the menu, my understanding was that the Pad Thai came with Chicken, beef and pork and it says add prawns 3.00. So I assumed 3.00 more added prawns. Got a soup and the sweet potatoes. Got the order home and found only prawns. Called them and the first lady I spoke to said, ok on the ticket it says only prawns, which we found 4 shrimp size in the pad thai. She said ok the order must have been taken wrong, we misunderstood. So we decided I would go in the next day and try again. Then the lady who took my order got on the phone and said oh the pad thai comes with only 1 meat. Thank you for your understanding. I got off the phone shocked ! I just paid 43.00 plus left a 5.00 tip for a simple to go order to get home and be disappointed and then told the waitress was correct by the waitress. So we went to eat the soup, my other half then promptly found a hair in. Sorry man! You lost us? And I didnt even try the soup! What a freakin RIP off!!!! At least the sweet potatoes were edible! So after finding the hair in my soup. I called and asked for the gentleman who took my payment. His name is Ray and he is the owner. I told him what happened. He lectured me about the cost of making the food and that for a replacement, I would need to drive back and take it back to him. Then he also lectured me on pad thai being an or item. Beef or chicken or pork or prawns, even though his menu said add prawns 3.00. I told Ray I felt that he was lecturing me and said oh no! I havent begun that yet. I politely advised him that I would not be returning to his restaurant and wished him well in the 43.00 of wasted food helping him. He promptly hung up on me.If you want customer service, DO NOT go to Rays Thai place. It sucks.
J J Hong Kong Cafe
447 Garvey Ave, Monterey Park, CA 91754, United States
This place has been around for a very long time, I only went couple times years ago. I went for lunch today, very disappointed and will never go again. It took them almost 20 minutes to realize that I am ready to order food. I had 1) Hawaiian Fried Rice 2) Stew Beef with Rice Noodles 3) Curry Beef with rice. Took another 20 minutes to have the first dish -- Hawaiian Fried Rice. The diced pineapple were bad, they were rotten and tasted sour. The waitress didnt apologize. Curry beef took another 10 minutes. When complained about the speed, the waitress stated that because every customer ordered Chinese food today and they only have two cooks for Chinese dish today. Two dishes with 3 drinks, the bill stated $25, considered the services and quality of food, I think its pricey. There are only two stalls in ladys room, one very large for wheelchair access but the other one was so tiny that my knees hit the door. The restroom was so dirty and messy, a huge roll of tissue was on the floor and it was soaked. I just wanted to get the hell out of there and never come back. I really dont know why they could stay in business for so long.
Daikokuya Monterey Park
111 N Atlantic Blvd UNIT 241, Monterey Park, CA 91754, United States
· Rare, free street-level lot parking and ample free underground parking (accessible only by elevator)· Daikokuya ramen – predictable and enjoyable. Cold ramen – remarkable and refreshing· Limited table seats. Majority bar seating. Long waits during peak hours like dinner and weekends· 2 indoor restrooms with working appliances. Pathway to inner restroom is greasy, potential slip risk.Street level parking is rare, but free underground parking gives everyone a chance to taste. This ramen restaurant has been here for several years, and it seems the restaurant is trying to stretch its menu to attract new blood. I would say the most remarkable experiment was the cold ramen. The flavors strong because of the soup, but you don't get the heavy grease of traditional ramen. Cold ramen is perfect for a hot day.The signature ramen is also recommended, but I've eaten the regular ramen for too many years. My only complaint is that the slices of pork are not thick enough, and the included egg is hit or miss if you want a runny center. The texture and firmness of the noodles are perfect al dente. The soup is adjustable, and a kottari broth is available for stronger flavors. The 2 restrooms are tucked behind the kitchen, and the floor is greasy. Slipping is a real risk, especially without grip mats on the floor. The restrooms are standard for an oily restaurant, but all the appliances work including the restroom, sink, and paper towel dispense.Overall the experience was average if you don't mind waiting. Otherwise, it was predictably decent.

I agreed with commentator nina i like soup,.. after the second refill ... when i asked the third time,... waiter and waitress gave me super dirty look .. $16 for small pot without broth ... and i have to beg for it!!!???? i rather pay double for A.Y.c.E. with better meat with excellent service than having dirty look/maybe called as disdained by my own asian waiters or owner ...!!! there is always alternative restaurant!!!
Thai Paradise
141 N Atlantic Blvd UNIT 113, Monterey Park, CA 91754, United States
This is a five star restaurant. We came for Mother's Day and ordered 4 entrees. Literally everything was perfect. We didn't take pictures we just saw the food, it looked amazing, and dug right in lol. I highly recommend ordering the striped sea bass if you're sharing with a small party (we were 3) or not ordering much else. It's big. It comes with a sour-ish sauce with several kinds of onions mixed in. SO GOOD. The next winner was the Thai Paradise Beef. This was nicely seared and comes with an amazing sauce which I would buy if they bottled it up. The green curry with chicken at medium spicy was a perfect level of spiciness for us. The kind of spicy that if you only ate the curry it could be too much but since we ate family style it was perfect. The chicken in the curry was surprisingly soft and not rubbery. We also ordered the ong choy. It's a classic, nothing too unique but it was well cooked so that the stems were not overly soft and still had a bite. Our server was friendly, checked in on us just enough, and quickly got us our check at the end.
Crystal Fish
514 Lighthouse Ave, Monterey, CA 93940, United States
We found this place having a serious sushi craving and we wanted something really great. We checked out the Google reviews, and went for it. We arrived around 8:45 worried that we werent going to be able to get in. It was excellent, we were immediately seated the place was packed full, which obviously did not affect the quality of the service or the food. The firecracker roll was outstanding the Philly roll was perfect, & I highly recommend the KFC chicken they do. I believe its called the Japanese KFC? Go for it ! It is absolutely excellent. Its served with just enough sliced cucumber & red onion around it that for some reason it just totally works! ( the sauce is wonderful). This is a great place to go. * I wouldnt say its extremely romantic or big and spacious, but theres the sushi bar and then tables around large groups where in every corner. They stay open until * 9:30 they had to actually turn people away repeatedly at about 9:45! It was about *$ 85.00 for 3 rolls, the chicken, garlic edamame, & two beers. I have to agree with the other Google reviews its absolutely fresh and absolutely delicious. They do take out as well. At least 8 people came for large takeout orders.*Absolutely huge menu its also an excellent place for vegans and vegetarians a very versatile menu! (Large Saki list too! ) Really, Check it out. Fresh
