Lin Jia Asian Kitchen
3437 Lakeshore Ave, Oakland, CA 94610, United States
Clean, fresh flavors. I have never been disappointed eating here. By far - my favorite Asian restaurant in Oakland. I am pleasantly surprised this place is not mobbed with people. Atmosphere is relaxed and service is attentive but not disruptive so you can enjoy most amazing food.

Yang Chow Restaurant
3211 Grand Ave, Oakland, CA 94610, United States
I have visited Yang Chow (Oakland_Grand Avenue) this place 3 times, and each time I have had to return the food each time. First let me say that I dont mind spending money on good food, but this place is Horrible!!!!. I spent $28 on food that was not meant to be eaten. I ordered chicken won ton soup. They put over cooked chicken breast in the soup with little soup and 15 won tons. I also ordered shrimp fried rice. The rice was overcooked and gummy with 4 shrimp. I ordered broccoli beef, which was all broccoli and no beef. The worse was the staff. They are rude and unfriendly, plus they have guys sitting around on their phones. Security?? Not sure. This was the most expensive Chinese food, but also the nastiest I have Ever eaten. If I could give them a minus in every area I would. This was food ordered in the place and picked up. Do not waste your time or money. I went to a less expensive place called Big Daddys Chinese food. I had no expectation, but was satisfied with my food. This place was not like Yang Chow (Oakland) with the tables, but I did not have to return my food or complain. The food was reasonable. I dont usually write review s, but this place warranted s Review. Hoping people read and take notice. No comment on other foods, but what I ordered was garbage!!!!!
Wing Wah Pho Ga Restaurant
1221 E 12th St, Oakland, CA 94606, United States
Not *bad* but not great: I went to Wing Wah because I wanted to get banh cuon (rice rolls) and meatball pho, and this is one of the few pho places that has banh cuon. The banh cuon was good, but the pho was disappointing (at least it is when taken to go). The noodle was not cooked right (in my opinion, it should be pretty elastic and only just done so that it continues cooking in the broth). They did separate the soup and noodles, but the soup was not hot enough. I only waited 10 minutes for my food and then the 10 minute drive home should not have cooled the soup too much. There was also no basil included with my pho veggies, which I found unusual. What was included was lettuce, which didnt work well. (Maybe it works better with pho ga, which I dont usually get. Pho ga does seem to be their specialty since its mentioned in the name.) The beef balls were also dry. (I dont know why though. Ive never had dry beef balls at any other pho place.) I wanted to like this place, and it had good reviews, but I think Ill come back for the pho at least. Id rather get pho from Pho Hoa Lao, Pho Anh Dao, and Pho King instead.
Cam Huong
702 International Blvd A, Oakland, CA 94606, United States
Ive been coming to Cam Huong ever since it was located on Webster in Chinatown. I used to order food here for catering parties at Asian Health Services. Ive always had a crush on the younger lady who I speak to now and then. The food reminds me of old Oakland Chinatown which used to have affordable comfort food including Cantonese and Vietnamese food now hard to find, so going to Cam Huong is like getting Soul Food to me. Ive been coming here for 25 plus years. So the reasoning behind a 3 star review is this. I bought what I usually get, prepared rolls, a dessert from the freezer, ice coffee and a vegetarian sandwich - bi chay. I waited and waited and heard the staff yelling at each other in Vietnamese about a vegetarian sandwich. And then I thought oh great, I hope they dont mess it up.So it turns out after riding my food to the Lake on my bike to eat, after opening my sandwich- it was filled with CURRY TOFU???I was so insulted. To make it worse, the one I have a crush on made it.I hate when establishments think I dont know what Im ordering and give me a bait and switch just to get me out the door. Made me mad that I gave them a good tip too as I usually do.Have yet to go back as Im still upset.
Shan Dong
328 10th St #101, Oakland, CA 94607, United States
Came here based on the reviews, and it was pretty good! We arrived on a Saturday evening at 7:15 p and was able to park directly in front of the restaurant. The location is typical Oakland Chinatown, not the prettiest nor the cleanest! They were busy with lots of people waiting in front, so we added our name to their online wait list and was prepared to wait 30 minutes. There were a lot of people going into the restaurant picking up to-go/online orders. One thing that I do is judge an Asian restaurant based on who is actually eating inside the restaurant. For a Chinese restaurant, I prefer to see a lot of Asian people, so I was a little skeptical because it was mostly non-Asian, however, I can see how the word is out regarding this particular place, because people flock towards good food! Not many places do hand pulled noodles well, but Shan Dong is an exception! My GF is vegetarian and cant do soy sauce so we were limited, however, we ordered the vegetarian chow mein with the fresh hand pulled noodles (I just added soy sauce separately to my portion), scallop egg foo young, and the crispy onion pancake. Everything was delicious! The pancake was full of scallions and perfectly crispy... egg foo young was probably my favorite with the sauce on the side, and the veggie chow mein was nice and chewy with great texture. The portions were generous for the price. We were absolutely stuffed and needed to to-go boxes after our meal.Such a great experience with hand pulled noodles, and we will definitely be back! No pictures, as we were too excited and hungry that we forgot.
Pho 84
354 17th St, Oakland, CA 94612, United States
Ive been wanting to come here on Sundays but found out they are closed on this day. This place was actually recommended by the owners nephew who I know. Good thing tonight I happen to be nearby and decided to come in. The restaurant is clean and has got a good decor. Food and service is quite good. I ordered the grilled pork vermicelli. To my surprise it is not your typical Vietnamese vermicelli. I would consider it fusion Vietnamese. Instead of a bowl the meal is served on a plate. It looks like they are trying to accommodate the Western taste in every way. I was most impressed with the egg rolls. I normally dont like the standard Vietnamese egg rolls which are stuffed with some unknown mushy meat. However, the ones here are stuffed with ingredients that you can see and know what they are. Overall the food experience was good. I cant wait to find out how they serve their Pho and rice plate on my next visit.A couple of things to watch: parking is awful around the area. Its better to come at night. During the day its all metered parking so that will add cost to your meal. Secondly, prices at this restaurant are about 50% higher than your standard Vietnamese restaurant. I normally pay $10 somewhere else but here I paid $16 plus tips. Still a good experience.
Saucy Oakland
468 8th St, Oakland, CA 94607, United States
I have been to Saucy twice now and I cannot stop recommending it. The staff are truly welcoming and make great recommendations. The ambience is ideal for friend night or date night. Great wall art, music, lighting and general decor. The drinks are fun and phenomenal. We had the passion fruit Sake and the guava/strawberry Sake. These were so fresh and well mixed. The food.Oh my goodness, the food! The Himachi spoon shooters cannot be overstated- so much flavor; a must! The pork belly lettuce wraps are also one of my faves- so tender, juicy, and fresh. The Crab cakes, dear God those Crab cakes! You want fresh Crab cakes come here. They are beautifully served with a delicious sauce on top- such fresh crabeat meat. The garlic noodles are to die for. These are my favorite garlic noodles I have had. They will not disappoint. We also got the prawn pumpkin curry. This curry was so creamy and perfect for a cold night.I had some kind of bread pudding here that blew our minds!Honestly I cant wait to eat there again. Highly recommend!
Battambang
850 Broadway, Oakland, CA 94607, United States
Food was solid, but not spicy enough, and felt a bit Americanized in flavor compared to the best southeast Asian restaurants. Battambang is not bad by any means but, but is unmemorable and in my opinion isnt really worthy of the hype it gets.
