Great spot, arguably the best restaurant at Pebble Beach, very high quality Asian fusion style

Although my husband has golfed Pebble Beach before this was our first experience staying at The Lodge for a three day weekend. I was disappointed in the overall quality of service. We had reserved 2 king rooms and upon arrival only received one king room. The resort informed us on arrival bed size was based on availability, however, this detail was not communicated at any point during the reservation process. The most frustrating encounter, however, was directly related to the golf. Throughout the weekend we had reserved tee times at Spanish Bay, Spyglass, and Pebble (six months in advance). All golf reservations were made directly through the resort. At the time of the reservation, caddy service was also prearranged for each course. Upon arrival at the first tee time we were informed they were out of caddies for the day and they would not be able to accommodate caddy service even though it was on the original reservation. In an effort to reconcile, the reservations manager offered complimentary caddy service for the next day at Spyglass. When we arrived the following day to play Spyglass with the expectation the caddy service had been confirmed due to the issues the day prior we were again disappointed that they only had one double bag caddy reserved when the original reservation had single bad caddies for each golfer. Because the reservation was comped they changed the original request from 2 single bag caddies to double bag caddies. The whole reason we came on this trip was for the boys to golf and enjoy their time playing these courses with individual caddy service. From an aggravation standpoint alone of having to golf the first day without a caddy for yardage, the countless phone calls to reservations, the pro shop, and speaking to several managers (Anthony, Rich, and Chelsea) its wasnt worth it. I reconfirmed the details of our reservations to include caddy service three times prior to arriving atThe Lodge - every day it was a battle to get caddies even though they were arranged well in advance. It was also promised by reservations management (Anthony) that Rich the caddie manager would meet the boys before they teed off the second day to ensure everything ran smoothly. He, however, did not show up until I left the spa to go to the Pebble Pro Shop and speak to another manager to try to rectify the Spyglass issue and confirm caddies for the next day. At that point, Rich was sent to Spyglass to assist in allocating caddies to the reservation. I also found out upon my arrival at the Pebble Pro shop that caddies were not arranged for the next days tee time at Pebble. The Pro shop blamed reservations and reservations blamed the pro shop. Anthony the reservations manager said all three days were confirmed with caddy service per the reservation and the caddie office had dropped the ball and there was no excuse. The Pebble Pro shop advised that caddy service be arranged through the caddy office and not the reservations office which was a complete excuse. I hope all guests dont experience this total disorganization and miscommunication that seems to occur on a daily basis as evident by failure to supply caddies on the second day after they were confirmed after the first reservation error. The resort took absolutely no accountability for the error. In addition, we are a young couple and felt like this issue / error happened impart due to age discrimination. The sheer fact the issue wasnt rectified on the first day and continued to reoccur on the second day after several managers were involved is beyond belief from a resort of this caliber.
Pebble Beach Resorts

I have previously stayed and played at the Pebble Beach Resort and a couple other area courses. It was a rare golf experience and reserved for those who have the means to pay dearly for this kind of thing. My company was looking for a exciting golf destination that would reward participants and give us the ability to raise money for a charity so we could Pay-It-Forward for a great cause. The event was set for this Fall, but due to the unfortunate world COVID-19 pandemic we all face, it ruined these well laid plans. People are fighting for their lives, staying away from each other and businesses are going bankrupt or may not survive this natural disaster. Would you believe after respectfully giving Pebble Beach full notice to cancel our event as those participants have naturally refused to travel. People would have to travel over the border from all across Canada and take several flights to get there. The deep pocketed Pebble Beach organization are holding on to our deposit - tens of thousands of $$$ dollars even though they have provided no service at this point! With no end in sight for this pandemic, that many say will be affecting us for the next 2 years, how could they be so heartless, ignorant and greedy? The people running this resort and organization should be ashamed of their ruthless actions. Gouging people is one thing - this is outright thievery.
The Inn at Spanish Bay

Come for a stay or a day and see this place can put a smile on your soul.Welcome to another world, far from chaos and tension. Welcome to simplicity, serenity and beauty of nature that captures you. As you walk into the outside seating area, over looking the gentle waves from a short distance and the intricate design of the golf course laced alongside of the beach, you want the time to stop.We enjoyed our lunch on the patio. The menu is a combination of Asian and American cuisine. The appetizers were delicious and nicely presented. The hamburger however, was too dry (ordered medium well but came well done). The service was great and everything else was delicious. I highly recommended this beautiful hotel and restaurant.
The Bench

Really unfortunate experience. We had the option of sitting at the bar or outside on the patio with a fire for dinner. It was a bit windy, but we opted to sit on the patio. It was our choice and we were forewarned it might be cold, so no issue there. We ordered a cocktail and tea and they came promptly. The soup of the day was a butter nut squash--a bit salty, but nothing to complain over. The sun was setting and it continued to get cold. We looked around as large tables that ordered at the same time as us got their food. We asked the server and she noted that there was a backlog. By the time we received our food it was dark and we were the only table left on the patio. The black cod I ordered was quite good, but the pasta my wife ordered was very salty and she couldnt eat it. They did offer to prepare something else, but it was already past 8, dark, and extremely windy. We asked for the bill and gave the server our 17-mile entrance fee to get reimbursed. Unfortunately she forgot to remove it from the bill. At this point it was late and we needed to get to our hotel. We can see why this place was so highly rated, but were unlucky to not have had a good experience. It was a shame as the golf course is world class with spectacular views.
Hays Place

This sounds odd to say but Hay's Place is a hidden gem. Reservations have to be made through the Pebble Beach Company which closes down telephone operations in the evening so make a call during so-called normal business hours. However, as a local, what I do is arrive early before 5:30 pm. If you can figure out a way to bring some golf putters and some balls, it's fun to putt on the huge and FREE putting green with 18 putting holes. Even non golfers will enjoy this because it's outside in a place with a spectacular view of Monterey Bay. If you are a group of four or less, head over to the hostess at the restaurant by 5:30 ish. She will feign surprise that you don't have a reservation but there will be a sea of empty tables and you will be seated. If you are wearing a windbreaker, sitting outside will be pleasant as there are propane heaters. Position the chilliest diners by the heater and you will be fine. The dinner prices are reasonable as there is no price gouging because you're dining at Pebble. I think the prices are comparable to Carmel, Pacific Grove, and nearby Monterey. The menu has a lot of good choices. My favorite are the carne asada soft tacos which could be split. If you do that think about getting an appetizer to share as well.In summary, this is one of my favorite places to bring guests to when we host visitors: the menu is good,it's a great place to get a cocktail, the parking is plentiful and free, the putting green fun, and the view is outstanding.
Poppy Hills Golf Course
3200 Lopez Rd, Pebble Beach, CA 93953, United States
I visited this golf course today. The course was excellent, but the experience at the restaurant was truly appalling. My husband and I were almost done with our meal, still enjoying the remaining fries. We had ketchup on his plate, so I was dipping fries from it. The server, without asking, just took his plate away. Then, inexplicably, they grabbed the napkin from his arm, even though we clearly hadn’t finished eating. They did the same with my plate, as if we were waiting for them to clear it!Would it have been so hard to ask if we were done or if they could take the plates? What was this behavior about? Did they want us to leave quickly? Did we do something wrong? We were just quietly eating our burgers. The rudeness was incomprehensible. Was this discrimination because we’re Asian? They didn’t seem to treat other tables this way. While the golfing was enjoyable, the restaurant service was extremely rude and left us both upset and angry. We didn’t want to make a scene, so I’m leaving this review instead.
