Ate8 Noodle House
Asian Food Center, 2560 High Point Pkwy Suite #B1, Barstow, CA 92311, United States
We were on our way to Vegas when we decided to stop at Barstow for super late lunch. I was surprised to find a Taiwanese place in the area. Since we were craving Chinese food, we decided to eat there. The restaurant is big with lots of tables and it was clean. We ordered & paid our food at the cashier. After about 10 mins, they called us to get our food. The price was a bit pricier than the usual Taiwanese place.- Deep fried pork chop with rice: pork chop was crispy but some pieces were overcooked. My hubby didn’t finished it since it was too tough. But the flavor was good though- Wonton noodle soup: ok. It was a decent noodle soup. The noodle was cooked well. The wonton was lack of flavor but they gave quite a bit of wonton pieces. The soup was kinda blah.

Panda Palace

We saw the sign for Panda Palace after we left the Rubidoux swapmeet Sunday. Smells good tastes good but no sauce. All the meat dishes are dry. Not sure if stir fried or baked. But nothing deliciously sitting in any sauce. Thats different. I like to have a bit of some of the sauce it was cooked in over my rice. Also the meat simmering in a flavorful sauce would be preferable to just dry chicken bits on top of rice. The meat was tasty but needs to be more moist. Its hard to explain. I didnt take pics this time but Im definitely going back for another try. The food is good enough & deserves another chance for a better review with pics.
Wahs Kitchen
777 E Barstow Ave Ste B, Fresno, CA 93710, United States
Airy and sparkly clean Mon and Pop Chinese Restaurant. Open kitchen right behind cashier so you can easily see and smell all the delicious action. Must mostly do takeout since there were only 3 tables for 4 people and one table for 2 people inside. Pretty diverse menu of meats, noodles, rices and soups. Done in a variety of techniques.
Panera Bread
2570 High Point Pkwy, Barstow, CA 92311, United States
The person working the counter vacated her post, to make coffee, as all 3 of the large coffee dispensers were empty, when I got here. There was nobody up front, for nearly 5 min., until another employee spotted me, standing at the counter, patiently waiting. She then rang up my order, & told me they were making coffee, & itd be ready in 5 minutes. The original person, then re-appeared, & asked the first of 3 people waiting for coffee, if that customer wanted dark roast coffee, since it had finished brewing. She grabbed this persons cup, & whirled toward the back.I wanted dark roast coffee, as well, so I stated this, trying to save her another trip. She turned back, then rudely yelled, In a minute! She then stalked to the back with 1 coffee cup.She couldve easily carried 2 cups to the back & filled them. It wasnt my fault that Panera Bread Barstow was out of all their coffee, at the same time.I didnt appreciate how extremely rude the Panera counter worker was to me, either.I got a Chocolate Croissant, along with my Dark Roast Coffee. The croissant was good, & my coffee tasted good, as well, after I finally got it.The customer isnt always right, but they certainly arent the enemy, either.
China Station Food To Go
1768 E Barstow Ave, Fresno, CA 93710, United States
We order Mongolian beef (with white rice) and teriyaki chicken (with pan fried noodles + fried rice). Im usually not that judging towards food, but this was not up to standards. The Mongolian beef tasted very salty, much of straight soy sauce. The teriyaki and chicken had no flavor, the sauce itself was not teriyaki sauce. The sauce tasted, and looked like chicken stalk with corn starch + chili flakes. The fried rice and pan fried noodles definitely tasted like it sat in the fridge for 3 days. I highly suggest saving your money, and trying any other Chinese food restaurant.

Wife had been here a year or so ago while with her trainer. And couldnt wait to bring me here. Finally got around to coming back, and it was amazing!!!! The chicken and pork chops were phenomenal, the rice was so good, the pork on top was super flavorful! Wife enjoyed the Boba tea. Best of all they had mochi!!! Love love love it! The staff was super friendly and helpful as well, I have a shellfish allergy and they were very accommodating and helpful when we were asking what ingredients were used in the cooking process. Will definitely be back when in Barstow!
Panda Express
2801 Lenwood Rd, Barstow, CA 92311, United States
My experience at the Panda Express was terrible. I ordered the 2 entree combo with rice and chow mein. It does not take an expert to say that the chow mein was not fresh and was borderline on going bad. Maybe it was the heat at Barstow that day. But that should be a good reason to be extra careful not to serve food that is going bad. I mentioned it to one of the workers and she informed the manager. The manager on duty that day made a poor attempt for an apology. She must have called out sick when the company had classes for customer service and damage control. She made an insincere attempt to replace the food. I politely declined, ate my entrees and threw out the rice and noodles. I hope that noone git sick from the food that day. I have dined at other Panda Express locations but this one gets a triple thumbs down for me. Diners beware!
Canton Restaurant
1300 Main St, Barstow, CA 92311, United States
So....I used to love this restaurant before ot changed owners and always gave it high ratings for the food quality. Let me tell you, it has changed for the worse! I really want it to be great and I really want to tell you its good but Id be lying. The remodel is awesome ? and the old stinky moldy carpet is gone...yeah! However the food and service is not up to par. I ordered the hamburger steak with onions baked potato and pea soup . The soup never came and the meal arrived with no grilled onions, gravy, or baked potato. Evidently they were out of pea soup and baked potatoes on a Thursday at 4pm. I recieved cheap French fries instead and after asking recieved a tiny dishes grilled onions and cold canned gravy. I also recieved a tiny dish of tasteless canned green beans mmmm.. The ground beef steak was cooked well but was tasteless. The whole time Im thinking Robert Irvine on restaurant impossible would probably throw his plate at the chef and say blah tasteless but I was kind and respectful and didnt go there. However, if things dont drastically change the Canton Chinese restaurant will be out of business. I really want it to succeed.
Asian Food Court

FoodQuality: The overall quality of the ingredients at Ate8 Noodle House was deeply disappointing. The excessive use of salt overwhelmed every dish, making it difficult to appreciate any underlying flavors. The vegetables were particularly disappointing, coming across as both limp and oversalted.Preparation: The preparation of the dishes seemed to lack care and attention to detail. The pork pieces were not just oversalted but were drenched in grease, which was off-putting. The same lack of finesse was evident in the beef noodle bowl ordered by my wife, where the beef appeared old and lacked any freshness.Specific Dishes:Pork Dish: Oversalted to the point of being inedible, with an unpleasant greasy texture.Beef Noodle Bowl: The beef seemed like it had been stored improperly for an extended period.Additionally, the chicken included was dry, affecting the overall texture negatively. Some vegetables appeared fresh, while others seemed to be fried in an attempt to disguise their quality.ServiceStaff Demeanor: The interaction with the staff at Ate8 Noodle House was far from welcoming. The overall demeanor lacked the politeness and humility expected in the service industry, with a noticeable disinterest in providing a pleasant dining experience.Overall ExperienceMy visit to Ate8 Noodle House was profoundly disappointing, marked by subpar food quality, careless preparation, and lackluster customer service. The excessive saltiness across all dishes and the apparent lack of fresh ingredients were major detractions.Coupled with the staffs indifferent attitude, the experience left much to be desired. While I believe in constructive criticism and hope this feedback leads to improvements, I regret to say my experience does not encourage a return visit.I can only hope that Ate8 Noodle House takes this review as an opportunity to make significant changes, improving both food quality and customer service for future patrons.
