Special Noodle
6180 Jarvis Ave Ste U, Newark, CA 94560, United States
I feel like ive seen a lot ads for this spot - in which the food looks bomb! my friends and i did family style and we ended up ordering:Soup Pan Fried Pork Buns [x6] ($12.50)Xiao Long Bao (Pork) [x6] ($11.99)Spicy Beef Noodle Soup ($15.99) - with thick noodlesPork Dan Dan Noddles [Spicy And Numbing] ($14.99) - with thick noodlesid say that these dishes are staple items to try when yall stop by and id say that thick noodles really add to the flavors and just the overall texture of the meal! and the flavors are just soooo fire. when i tried the two noodle dishes i didnt really taste the spiciness but my friend who has a lower tolerance for spice did taste it more - so it might be good to reach out to the staff to see if spiciness can be adjusted!its also a spot in which its pretty easy to manage as you order by scanning the QR code and pay through the website too. however, the staff members are readily available and super attentive. 10/10 would recommend for yall to check out this spot if yall are in the area!ambiance is pretty casual and sorry the spicy beef noodle and pork dan dan noodles are not pictured as i was too hungry AHAHAH

Oyama BBQ

My first bad review is for this bistro that visited me twice.I had dinner very late due to work reasons. I was surprised that a new barbecue restaurant opened near my home that was open until 12 oclock. So I confirmed on Google and Xiaohongshu that the opening hours were indeed until midnight, and I planned to try it.The first time was when I arrived at around 8pm last Tuesday. The lights were all dark and the store was not open at all. However, it clearly said open on Google. Although I was disappointed that the trip was in vain, I thought that it might still open during the trial opening period. Its normal to be unstable. Just try again next time.So I called in advance today to confirm that it would be open until midnight. When I went to the store around 8:40 in the evening, the store was full, but there were no people queuing up. It didn't look very busy, so I filled out the waitlist at the door and I left my phone number and then stood at the door for a while, but no one came to greet me or say hello. Finally, I stopped a waiter who was delivering food to ask if he would call if there was a seat. Because it was cold, we wanted to go back to the car and wait for a table before getting confirmation. After the reply, we were told again that we would go to the car and wait for their call at that time. After returning to the car and waiting for more than half an hour, there was no movement at all. During this time, I called the store 4 times to inquire about the situation, but none of them got through. So I went back to the store to check and found that 4-5 tables had already been vacated. What did I ask the waiter? Why were we not informed of the situation and made to wait so long in vain? The answer he got was that there was no one at the door and he couldnt find us, but they clearly promised that they would call.In the end, we didn't eat at this restaurant. We don't know the taste, so we can't comment on it. But for a restaurant with such chaotic management and lack of respect for its customers, we won't come back no matter how delicious it is.

Hunan Mifen
39115 Cedar Blvd, Newark, CA 94560, United States
Ive been going for 3 straight weekends since I found them and I think that already says a lot. I always get their spicy noodle soups and my favorite is the spicy beef intestines (more like beef entrails) noodle soup. With the recent cold, wet weather this dish is perfect to keep your body warm for hours before your next meal. The spicy noodle soup is a meifen (round rice noodle) base and the soup is delicious on its own but when you add the spicy stewed meats, it gets addictingly good!If you cant handle any type of spice I would suggest one of the other dishes as their spicy dishes cant be adjusted. Its a hot spicy, not numbing like mala. If you like the runny nose, mouth on fire type of spicy, this is the place for you.I order online to-go through their 39miles website which is just their phone number .com - super easy to order and includes pictures of the menu items. You order online and 10-15 min later you pick up and pay in store. They also have specials and promos on this site! Theyre currently adding more menu items like rice dishes and I hope they include more appetizers/sides soon. My new favorite spot for sure!

Long Men Bay Hotpot
39055 Cedar Blvd #189, Newark, CA 94560, United States
Solid new hotpot spot in Newark! Sharing the plaza with Lion Supermarket, it has plenty of parking available. Decor screams high end faux luxury like many new Chinese hotpot spots all around the world. You sit and order via QR code at each table. What I like is that everyone can collaboratively order on the same tab from their own phone and see what has already been selected. Once you place the order you can still add more items on the same website. Prices are pretty fair for the bay area and are portioned well. They have 7 different soup bases to choose from and their two soup base pot ($13.98) is actually cheaper than their single spicy butter broth pot ($15.98). I was surprised by how flavorful their pork bone soup base was - I liked it even more than their hot spicy butter base! I ended up ordering mung bean noodles ($5.98) just to soak in that deliciousness for the end of my meal. Another stand out item I was pleasantly surprised by was their small chicken liver skewers ($4.98). Never had it taste this great and perfectly crunchy anywhere else!! I even accidentally left one cooking way too long and it was still perfectly crunchy and delicious! I would suggest skipping their self service sauce bar ($2.98 per person) as their broth is good enough to flavor the meats. I barely ended up using my sauce concoction. It does however come with unlimited fruits and desserts so if youre into that then $3 per person isnt bad. They offer several different qualities of beef from their regular supreme fatty beef ($10.98) to kobe beef ($48.98). I tried their lamb shoulder & marbled beef platter ($12.98), and supreme fatty beef and wasnt really blown away by the quality but again their soup bases made up for it. They have a lot of ingredients for all your hot pot needs. There were only 2 waitresses working the full restaurant for my Saturday lunch - they did a great job refilling the broths when it became low but flagging one down to check on an item was rather hard. My bill came with a 20% off promotion for their grand opening which I didnt see advertised but overall a great experience and Im looking forward to returning!

Mingala Restaurant
39055 Cedar Blvd #108, Newark, CA 94560, United States
I found Mingala Restaurant on Yelp when searching for a new Malaysian restaurant in San Jose. Mingala seemed to carry both Burmese and Malaysian food which made me a little hesitant to try it as both these cuisines are very different. However, as it had a solid 4-star rating, I decided to give it a try. I generally get Nasi Lemak at any new Malaysian restaurant that I try. This is a dish that consists of coconut rice, sambal, egg, peanuts, cucumber, onions and a curry which could be either Chicken or Beef, so it gives you a pretty good idea about the overall food at the restaurant. I used the on-line ordering tool on Yelp and got with Nasi Lemak ($10.99) and went with the chick curry (beef curry is $2 more) and landed up there after about 20 minutes.Mingala is in a small strip mall with hardly any parking. I had to hover a while before I got a spot so by the time I got in, it was well over 40 minutes, yet the order was not ready, and I was made to wait another 10 minutes or so before I got my order. This was around 9 pm on a Friday night and the place was about 60% full. I got 2 containers, one with the rice, eggs and salad and another with the chicken curry. The food made up for the long wait. The rice had a rich coconut flavor and even though the portion size of the chicken curry was small it was very tasty. Overall this dish came together very well.As I liked what I got the first time around, I decided to try Mingala again, this time for the Burmese cuisine. Again, as usual I got the Mohinga ($10.99) which is like the national dish of Burma and it consists of a fish-based soup with vermicelli noodles. This time I landed up after 30 minutes to pickup the order, fought for parking and picked it up without any wait. The Mohinga soup was a little runny and lacked the deep fish taste that you expect. The vermicelli noodles looked like they had all clumped up together, but they opened up, when dunked in the soup. Overall this was good not great. I definitely liked the Nasi Lemak more than the Mohinga soup.Price-wise it is pretty cheap with both the dishes being slightly over the $10 mark. Looking at the overall package of cost, quality and service Mingala, definitely gets a thumbs up from me which means I will be back to try more stuff off their menu in due course.

Asia Express
5672 Thornton Ave, Newark, CA 94560, United States
Its obvious why this place is so highly rated. If youve eaten Chinese food in California since you were a kid, like I have, this is the classic experience. Its kind of set up like a Panda Express, so depending on when you go in, the food may have been sitting there for a little while but its still good. The menu section is exceptionally large, offering specials, combos, and a wide variety of soups that you typically dont find at most takeout Chinese restaurants. With that said, the portions are huge, something youve become accustomed to when getting California Chinese food. Food. Can expect the kind of plate that your mother delivers to you right after she questions if youve been getting enough to eat.I actually would have given this place five stars, but when I got my takeout home, it was missing one crucial thing that really completes the experience. Experience. I didnt get any fortune cookies.

Tasty Chinese Restaurant
5576 Newpark Mall Rd, Newark, CA 94560, United States
1 star and I feel that is even being generous. Top WORST Chinese food Ive had..... I ordered 3 things from doordash, came out to $66, fried wontons with cream cheese, pineapple fried rice, sweet & sour pork.- Fried wontons were chewy like couldnt eat chewy- Pineapple fried rice had no pineapple but shrimp (I think they gave me wrong one) smelled like rotten seafood.- Sweet & sour pork, chewy, minimal sauce and lacked flavor.Threw it ALL away. Didnt even get a fortune cookie either.... I should have saved myself $66 bucks and ate the crackers I had in my cabinet. (Pics look better than it was).

HalalStreet Hot Pot & Xinjiang Cuisine(Tuesday ...
5605 Mowry School Rd, Newark, CA 94560, United States
First, I would like to say that I totally disagree with another reviewer who mentioned that the shish kebab cubes are like shawarmas. Shawarmas (arabic food) are sliced meat from a vertical rotisserie and similar to doner kebab (turkish food). Their kebab is indeed Xinjiang shish kebab and the taste is real. We have tried uyghur cuisine in the east coast, SoCal and the bay area. In my opinion, this restaurant has the most authentic laghman in terms of the taste of the sauce and the quality of the hand-pulled noodles. The pearl noodle was very tasty and I definitely would go back for it again. The platter chicken was good but would be better to have more chicken. The white-skin noodles were very chewy. I dont like the sauce of the Liangpi and it was not like what we used to eat. The baked buns were actually fried. I guess because it is difficult to build a traditional pit to get the texture of the wrap. The stuffing was tasty though. One con is that they could change the ordering method to a digitalized one. The waiter missed one dish in our order. It was fine for us because we had enough but it is still not quite pleasant. I also wish they would expand their menu with more options, especially veggies. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant for authentic northwestern and halal Chinese cuisine.

Tasty Pot - Newark
34909 Newark Blvd, Newark, CA 94560, United States
I split the Sichuan flavor hot soup with one friend. The broth was delicious (we chose medium spicy) and flavorful without feeling MSG or salt-loaded. It was so loaded with toppings that we had to refill broth once (free) to have enough for the items. From the website, Sichuan description:*Medium to Flaming Spicy.* Napa, beef slices, fish filet, flam, aorta, imitation crabmeat, tempura, fish ball, beef ball, zucchini, enoki mushroom, black mushroom, potato slices, frozen tofu, fried tofu puff, fried tofu skin, potato noodle, & scallions. You get a huge variety of toppings that add up to a lot of food even for just the standard order. I dont see how a single person can finish one hot pot unless they take food home. When they refilled our broth, I could see that the broth had cloudy, milky color from cooking for a long time. It was so delicious! The Napa cabbage was the perfect level of tender crisp, we didnt get any cold items in our soup. All items were the right temperature and cooked evenly, so we didnt feel rushed to eat quickly (which Ive had to do at Boiling Point). Im a fish ball fiend and ordered extra fish balls, but it ended up being too much food for the both of us. The house satay sauce is amazing, the fermented soybean sauce is on the sweet side which Im not used to.The servers were super nice and attentive. If there was anything we needed, they helped us right away, and then made sure to top off broth or drinks for all the other tables while they were on the floor. I was able to enjoy dinner with a friend and chat leisurely without feeling rushed by the staff.I enjoyed the food and service here so much, Ill be coming back with my husband. Highly recommend for people new to hot pot that dont want to feel overwhelmed with choosing toppings. I think its a way better value eating here than at all-you-can-eat places that are restrictive on the expensive toppings or that you would have to eat excessively to get your moneys worth. The only drawbacks were that the side vermicelli order was tiny, and fish ball side order was about $5 and came with like 5 or 6 pieces. The standard order is huge already so I wont order extras next time.
