Honeybird
714 Foothill Blvd, La Cañada Flintridge, CA 91011, United States
Fried chicken is one of those classic comfort foods that is so good that if I had to chose a single food for my last meal, it would be on the top of my list. Fried chicken isnt practical to eat everyday unfortunately, otherwise I would probably eat daily. So you could say I have a love for fried chicken. Honeybird is located next door to the Panda Express in an unassuming white building and could easily be missed. We arrived there around 3:30 in the afternoon on a Friday and there was only two people in the whole place. We ordered the regular Honeybird and Freebird sandwich combos and had them cut in half so that we could try both of them. I ordered for my side the coleslaw and it was ok but not memorable. Honeybird knows their stuff when it comes to fried chicken. I recently been on a mission searching for the perfect chicken sandwich in the southern California area. Loved Howlin Rays for what it is, being a Nashville hot chicken joint. Tried Crack Shack recently and wasnt impressed at all. I also tried many mom and pop locales that have been popping up everywhere. My search may be over. I tried the Honeybird and Freebird sandwiches and both were delicious! They give you a side of honey mustard along with your sandwiches that adds to the flavor but without it, it would still be delectable. The flavor from the herbs and spices is out of this world, I believe they use dark meat for the chicken sandwiches which is something very different from the rest of the pack. The Freebird had the perfect amount of heat without overpowering the flavor of the chicken. The sandwiches were so good that I had to put in another order for just their fried chicken. I had to confirm if my taste buds were telling me the truth or if I was just really hungry. It was true. I ordered single breast and you can tell that it was brined because it was flavorful, moist and juicy throughout. I have a sister whos moving away from La Canada soon and admitted that the only reason she would be coming back to the area would be for Honeybird and I can see why.

Los Gringos Locos
631 Foothill Blvd, La Cañada Flintridge, CA 91011, United States
This long time local establishment moved into larger quarters a few years back. Theres always ample parking and very short if any wait. Like Italian and Chinese, Mexican restaurants are all a little different. The flavors here are a little milder (arguably refined) and less to my palette — my wife on the other hand, loves it. Either way, you wont go away hungery.Reliably good food, drinks and service.

Hill Street Cafe La Caada
1004 Foothill Blvd, La Cañada Flintridge, CA 91011, United States
Hill St Cafe La Canada- Dishonest and Rude.Went to Hill Street Cafe in La Canada for takeout dinner. Ordered from a takeout menu I took from the restaurant last time I was there. When I arrived to pick up the food, the total came out to around $10 more than I expected for 2 orders, based on the prices in the menu. I asked to take a look at the menu to see the prices. She handed me a take-out menu from the stand next to her. They were the same prices that I expected to see.I asked why the total is so much? And she looked at the receipt and told me, “these are the new prices.” and showed me that the menu for the sit-down customers inside the restaurant had updated the prices. I pointed out that since I had not seen the menu for the sit-down customers, I should only be charged the prices in the menu that they provided me.I asked to speak to the manager and told him the problem. He shrugged dismissively and said “Sorry. Can't help you. These are our prices now.” I said “But you are sending your patrons home with THESE takeout menus and they have THESE prices in them. So these are the prices you should be charging.“He said “There is a disclaimer in the takeout menu that says prices may vary.” I looked and showed him that there is no such disclaimer. (So he lied to my face) Then he said, “I will have them update the takeout menus.” I asked “Are you going to refund the extra money I was charged?” He refused, “Sorry. No. We don't do that.”. I told him “That's very dishonest. You are advertising one price for takeout customers and then charging more when they get here to pay.” He again gave me an unsympathetic shrug and said “Sorry you feel that way.”My better judgment told me to hand him back the food and demand a full refund and never go back in that restaurant again. But my wife was hungry and waiting for dinner, so I let it be. (BTW, the food was very good. That's the only reason I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1. No complaints about the quality of the meal, just the dishonest pricing, the garbage customer service and the dismissive, condescending and arrogant attitude of the manager.)I went back into that restaurant a couple of weeks later, and, to no surprise whatsoever, the takeout menus have not been changed. So they are still dishonestly advertising lower prices for takeout, and then charging their customers more when they come in to pay.Just putting this out there so y'all know Hill St. Cafe in La Canada are dishonest people.

Pho Season
2222 Foothill Blvd, La Cañada Flintridge, CA 91011, United States
Usually wonderful, I just had a bad experience with the online ordering that left a very bad taste in my mouth. I ordered three soups and two bahn mi, when I got there I had already payed online and wanted to just grab what I ordered. The woman handed me the bag which was smaller than I expected and when I asked she said I had only ordered two soups. I had to pull up the bill from my phone to show I had ordered and payed for 3 soups and 2 sandwiches. She told me to grab the bag with the 2 soups & 2 sandwiches while she made me the third. She made it rushed so she forgot all the vegetable toppings that come with pho... So not only did I have to make sure I didnt get charged double for one of my soups, I ended up with enferior quality food... I really wanted some good pho too... Which they usually have, just dont order it online, I guess its too confusing or easily misunderstood.
