Sam Woo BBQ Restaurant
7330 Clairemont Mesa Blvd #A103, San Diego, CA 92111, United States
Great Chinese food at an affordable price. Their menu is extensive and they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. Service is a hit or miss depending on the server as typical in Asian restaurants.

Golden City Restaurant
5375 Kearny Villa Rd, San Diego, CA 92123, United States
Golden City is the OG of Chinese Restaurants which has been in San Diego for decades from my parents generation. We had a family gathering with two tables of 10. We had to video call those who couldn’t attend. GC offered free wifi that I was able to use on my iPad.The kids table ordered mainly fried foods but our adult table ordered the below. We ordered too much that the lazy Susan ran out of room and had to use the empty table next to us.-Braised yee noodles w mushroom - much chewier than chow mein, mushroom sauce was yummy-Vegetarian chow fun - choice of dry or wet (gravy). I like dry but decided for gravy and never again. I like the char not drenched in sauce.-Mu shu vegetable - it’s like a burrito wrapped in thin flour tortilla. Came in 4 which was filling after one.-Salted fish fried rice w chicken - a must whenever at a Chinese restaurant-Honey walnut shrimp - a must-Fisherman style crab - only had one level of spice-Crabmeat & fish maw soup - very little crab and lots of maw-Peking duck lettuce wrap two course: first course came with crispy thin duck skin with baos and the second came with lettuce-Egg plant w spicy garlic sauce - had onions, bamboo shoots and green bell peppers, not spicyOverall, a nostalgic place for the elders. Food was average and came out quick. Service was exceptional. 3.5 rounding to 4.

Minh Ky Restaurant
4644 El Cajon Blvd #101, San Diego, CA 92115, United States
I really wanted to like Minh Ky Chinese Restaurant, especially with all the glowing reviews from locals, former residents and Chinese food enthusiasts.Similar to a lot of yall and particularly the ones foraging Minh Kys reviews, my mouth was watering. The photos of the crisp, moist roasted duck nestled next to a simple, yet picturesque bowl of egg noodles instantly sent Minh Ky Chinese Restaurant, including their ranking on multiple food blogs and articles, to the top of my must try restaurants in San Diego.I went today and unfortunately, Minh Ky didnt live up to the hype. This place had all the right essentials --- two fabulously kind, but sassy Aunties working the front area, two or three tables of first timers and the locals who went in and out with their takeout orders. Yup, there were a ton of loyal customers that knew the restaurant, workers and staff. The entire vibe was awesome, home-like and reminded a lot of back home. I had high expectations. We ordered Roasted Duck with Egg Noodles and my partner got the Crispy Egg Noodles w/ Combination. My soup was incredibly hot, which was awesome. The noodles were well, your typical egg noodles from your local Chinese grocery store, which definitely hit the spot. You really cant mess that up. The duck, however, was a big miss. It was meaty and chunky, which is pretty rare from your usual bony, waterfowl poultry dishes. The skin and flavor left much to be desired.Similarly with my partners dish, the flavoring was just okay.Overall, if youre looking for a simple, safe and incredibly affordable Chinese take out place, check out Minh Ky. The flavors didnt blow us away, but the portions and large menu of Chinese takeout favorites will definitely demand you take a second look.

Emerald Chinese Cuisine
3709 Convoy St, San Diego, CA 92111, United States
Our family has been going to this restaurant for 30 years. I dont know why we keep coming back because we continue to have bad experiences. And Mothers Day was no exception. It was the worst experience I have ever seen.I ordered War wonton, Peking Duck, two orders of beef chow fun, and Char Siu fried rice.We specifically told them we wanted the War Wonton first before anything else. The first thing out was the Peking Duck, I immediately told our waiter we wanted the soup first. Our waiter apologized and said he would get it. It never came, but the fried rice did come, but it was not Char Siu fried rice it was shrimp fried rice. Then what was supposed to be 2 orders beef chow fun instead, it was fried noodles with beef. Then the soup came out, and it was cold like it had been sitting back there for half an hour. Then another 20 minutes went by before we got the right beef chow fun but by this time so much time had gone by no one really wanted to eat. We didnt even get the other half of the Peking duck to the very end. I mean, really...As angry as I was I tried to hold it together and calmly explain that our Mothers Day dinner had been ruined. All the manager wanted to do was give us free dessert. What a joke.Any other restaurant would have comped the entire meal as a result of the complete incompetence of the waiter and the cook. The manager did not want to do anything else other than that. I told the waiter I was only going to pay half the bill because that is all it was worth. He argued with me and things got loud to where the entire restaurant could hear me.I had my entire family leave while I handled the situation.I wrote on the receipt I will only pay 50% horrible service. The manager would not accept that, and at that point, I was the focus on everyone in the restaurant.I told him that he was not happy with the 50%, then keep the $50 that I was giving to the waiter.I paid $190 of a $276 bill and I feel I shouldnt have even done thatI said if youre not happy with that, then call the police and left. No one dared followed me.This was a complete disaster, and because my mother is in poor health, most likely will be her last Mothers Day.Im a very calm and peaceful person and have not complained or got into an argument with a restaurant manager in 20 years.Their level of incompetence left me with the worst taste in my mouth I have ever had and will never go back there and I recommend that if you want a good experience at a good Chinese restaurant do not go to Emerald Chinese seafood. They only get a one-star because theres no option for a half a star.Jasmine has much service and thats where we will be going next time.Pissed off. will never go back!

A Chau Restaurant
4644 El Cajon Blvd, San Diego, CA 92115, United States
Time to give this place some tough love. I have been a customer for years and I return because the food is top notch. Having said that, glaring problems still exist.1. They keep screwing up my sandwich. The problem stems more from the owner than the person making the food it seems. The owner would shout out the sandwich order with hopes of the correct sandwich being made. This method leaves a lot of room for errors especially when things get busy. I noticed that they sometimes write the order down and pass it along to the person making the food and that seems to be more successful but I still get the incorrect sandwich sometimes. They need to reorganize. I just dont want a certain item in a certain sandwich sometimes. Its not that complicated.2. Customer service isnt terrible but could use an improvement. Instead of looking miserable all the time, a smile and a thank you goes a long way.

Asia Wok Teppanyaki & Chinese Food
1900 Main St Ste 105, San Diego, CA 92113, United States
Where to start with this experience....First and foremost, what happened to the portions for what Im paying for its expected, not this medicore portion.Second, why was it so cold that the atmosphere is so dreary now.Third, whats with the customer service when asking about the small portions I was giving such a snarcky remark that I was not about to argue, so I just took my food and left.Ive been coming to this spot ever since they opened. Always raving about it, the food was good, and the portions were huge enough to feed two persons from one plate. So I would caution when coming in....

Mas House
5537 Clairemont Mesa Blvd, San Diego, CA 92117, United States
Halal Chinese restaurant in San Diego. Went here for dinner. The food was actually pretty good and tasty. Good portion sizes, enough to share. Liked the Mongolian beef and orange chicken. Lots of seating available, and service was actually good. Didnt have to wait too long for the food, and appeared to be made fresh. Would definitely recommend this place for halal Chinese, if you are visiting San Diego.

Hong Kong Restaurant
3871 Fourth Ave, San Diego, CA 92103, United States
What I got:1) Egg rolls2) Fried chicken wings3) Hong-Kong special fried riceReview:The little restaurant is absolutely fantastic. I’ve only tried the above items but they’re made really well. The fried rice is pretty unique as I’ve never had fried rice with shrimp, beef, and pork together and I must say it’s the best fried rice I’ve ever had.The wings are also really crispy and juicy, with a lot of flavor packed in each wing. I can’t say I’ve had better wings from a any other Chinese restaurant in San Diego! The egg rolls are probably my least favorite of the bunch here because I’m used to, and prefer, big and crispy egg rolls with blisters on the skin. These are more the size of spring rolls and even though they’re fried, it’s just not the same crunch as I’m used to. That said, they are still good but not as good as I’ve had before.Overall, this little Chinese restaurant is the best Chinese restaurant that I’ve tried in San Diego! It reminds me a lot of the restaurants that I used to order from in New Jersey where you can find amazing Chinese food in every town. Will definitely keep ordering all my Chinese food from here while I’m in San Diego.

Fortunate Son Chinese
2943 Adams Ave, San Diego, CA 92116, United States
The Fortunate Son has ruined Chinese food for me and my husband. They have the BEST Chinese cuisine in San Diego. ? Their beef melts in your mouth & their shrimp dishes, fried rice, cabbage, orange chicken and everything else on their menu is incredible. Their customer service is amazing, too - the manager and crew are friendly and go out of their way to make your experience awesome.? The inside of the restaurant is beautifully decorated and they have a great overall set up.Our ONLY complaint - bring back your spare ribs! They are the best spare ribs weve ever had and we are so bummed you got rid of them! We will talk about those ribs until the day we die ?. The only consolation was discovering their beef & brocolli. #bringbacktheribs ?
