Pepper Lunch

The food was great, but they skimmed on the meat which was disappointing. The staff was super nice and allowed me to use my Yelp reward for a free side. The location had pretty easy parking on the street for 2-hours for free. So many great restaurants around here, but definitely give this one a shot for good Japanese food.
Shin-Sen-Gumi
45 S Garfield Ave, Alhambra, CA 91801, United States
Great spot for Japanese foods! This is a local chain restaurant famous originally for its yakitori (or Grilled Skewers) but also specializes in ramen (Egg Noodles). The atmosphere is welcoming and casual. Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Modifications to orders can be accommodated upon request. Food is all made to order, fresh, and hot!The prices are fair (though skewers add up quickly) and the service is reasonably quick, even at peak lunch and dinner hours.Parking is available in a city-owned parking structure behind the restaurant, simply follow the signs! NOTE: Main entrance of the restaurant is on Garfield Ave, facing the street.Overall, the restaurant is clean, well-run, and an easy recommendation for all!
Pokestuf Japanese Restaurant
401 W Main St, Alhambra, CA 91801, United States
Decided to give this place a try a few weeks back for the first time, and at that point the quality was spot on. Everything fresh, tasty, and beautifully presented.Im up to my fourth time having their food, and the last three times have all been disappointing with respect to accuracy. Thats 25% accuracy so far.Missing ingredients that were requested (including premium extras), missing sauce, instructions not followed, and overall the portions seem to be getting cut. Seafood I understand being very precisely measured, but veggies? A literal spoonful of edamame? Cmon guys, you can do better. The care put into the food is just not consistent, and is equally important to freshness and all the other factors. I would not recommend this as a go-to for poke. If youre in the neighborhood, perhaps.
Yoshinoya - Alhambra
1701 W Valley Blvd, Alhambra, CA 91803, United States
This my first foray into this Japanese Fast Food Restaurant. It is located in Alhambra, California which has a large and lovely Asian community I seriously thought this would be much better. I grew up eating all types of cuisine and there is not much I can say about this place that is going to be encouraging. If Subway could make a worse bland sandwich, if McDonalds sold a complex meal that became homogenized in the process of development this is Yoshinoya. I had the Gyudon Beef and Teriyaki Chicken. I am on the 16/8 intermittent fasting diet and can only eat up to 3 pm and so I really eat at lunch time. The rice was a fat zero and the vegetables were not far behind. Unfortunately I had never had Gyudon Beef and even though at the Mongolian BBQ your meat is also thinly sliced it was from a solid part of the cow before it became sliced. My lunch meat was as if it was turned into a larger nugget of meat from every trimmed piece they could find, then sliced. Seriously if I wanted some thinly sliced beef from ARBYs I wouldve gone to Arbys and ordered the Half Pound Roast Beef with extra veggies [I do enjoy Arbys and when ya want Arbys ya get Arbys]. I have been to a few Donburi styled eateries before and thought this would be that level of experience. It was not. It was so not.I thought it would be better. The soy sauce was not very tasty either - low sodium - you put twice as much on your food which doesnt really help but oh well. When youre hungry youre hungry. This place was friendly, clean & tidy and it was busy and the food was hot: I wont do it again though. For balance of the previous statement - I have eaten twinkies and doughnuts more than once. [and will eat at least one churro next week]
Mikomi Sushi Alhambra
2 S Garfield Ave UNIT 100, Alhambra, CA 91801, United States
Mikomi Japanese Restaurant in Alhambra has seamlessly filled the shoes of its predecessor, EMC, offering a refreshing take on Japanese cuisine. During a recent lunch visit, we indulged in their lunch bento box, which showcased their mastery of flavors, particularly evident in the beef and chicken teriyaki dishes. The sweet teriyaki glaze perfectly complemented the tender meat, leaving a lasting impression. Beyond lunch, Mikomis happy hour menu steals the spotlight, with discounted sushi and other favorites enticing diners to return time and again. In addition to their delectable offerings, Mikomi shines in the realm of service. The staffs attentiveness and professionalism enhance the dining experience, making guests feel welcomed and valued. However, navigating the parking situation can pose a challenge, as the restaurant shares the shopping mall with numerous popular eateries and stores like Sprouts. Despite this minor inconvenience, Mikomi Japanese Restaurant stands out as a must-visit destination in Alhambra, offering exceptional cuisine and top-notch service that keep patrons coming back for more.

We were excited to try this new neighborhood Japanese restaurant, and it was amazing! Lovely people serving / owners, food is so fresh, Uni was incredible, rolls were so nicely composed, sashimi- thick and buttery, fresh — incredible flavors overall very happy with every thing and so reasonably priced too. Will definitely be back. Arigato, Sushi Time !
