Kanpai Sushi
26601 Aliso Creek Rd ste a, Aliso Viejo, CA 92656, United States
I've never felt racially profiled until I tried to eat sushi at Kanpai. I am in Orange County for work, and stoped in to get dinner after leaving the office. The waiter and waitress served every table with a sense of urgency (Caucasian customers) while I was the only African American/Hispanic customer in the restaurant. It took the waiter who was working the tables outside to ask if I wanted anything to drink, which I ordered a glass of Merlot. The waitress inside immediately directed her attention to every Caucasian customer inside the restaurant walking past my table (sitting alone in the middle of the restaurant) to make sure every Caucasian customer was taken care of and their order was taken. I sat in this restaurant for 45 minutes, only 1 glass of wine and no one asked if I wanted to order food or if I wanted a second glass of wine. I've paid with my American Express (for the 1 glass of wine) which the waitress had to double take a person of color holds an AMEX!

There is no other Japanese restaurant in America that has such delicious food, and I cant believe its so cheap!!In America, sushi is expensive no matter where you go, but this restaurant is delicious and very cheap! We enjoyed not only sushi but also grilled fish. The Los Angeles Angels sushi roll looked interesting and was delicious. This is one of the stores I always want to visit when I go to OC.
Trader Joes

Today I went to traders Joe in Aliso viejo, CA branch at senior hours.while I was waiting for the cashier and her assistant to bag my purchases, the young man who was baggingSaid to his colleague that his girlfriend dad is covid 19 positive and he had to go get the test but the result is going to be ready in a week or so.He said that he is so worried about the test result. I was shocked, did not know what to do just leave the store or wait pay and get my grocery that this gentleman touched and bagged.I was hoping that if someone is at risk and go get tested because of being in contact with a covid patient needs to stay home and quarantine for 14 days. But with my surprise here this young man was bagging the seniors grocery. The bad news is that the sanitizng wipes are not available in stores to buy anymore, to clean the grocery and some young people do not care about elderly or the community.I wished traders Joe ask these kind of employees that were in contact with covid 19Patients stay home until their test result come back. It is a pity that the result of the test takes one to two weeks to show if a person is positive.Because by that time lots of people are already at risk of getting covid19.Just keeping my fingers crossed that I do not get sick because this young man decided to work until he gets the result of his test.I Just washed my grocery with soap and water and dried them. Now I am checking my temperature every morning for the next 7 days at least. This is one example of how this deadly disease spreads among people. We do not get it seriously.

Zen Sushi & Sushi Bar

The website does not work. The information on Yelp and Google is confused and misleading. There are too many places with this name and the web cant keep them straight with the help of people posting the wrong locations menu to a different place. All pretty confusing. Once you go over the wrong menu and get a family sized order together and call it in, you realize the menu was wrong and tou have to do it all over again....So that was just leading into the front door....I got in and was handed a sushi bar menu and a pencil and had to go thru the process of finding everything one more time on this new sheet. Got it done and the older sushi cheif starts correcting me on where you check for cut and hand roll. Not an issue but he did it with a pretty good attitude as if I just failed his little test. I remember a review that gave them a low rating because of a rude sushi cheif and I think I meet him! He wasnt that bad but not really a people person. The food order was fast in and out and I was on my way. The food was really good although the special sauce for the Night Roll was yucky.I hated the experience of trying to order online and deal with tech impaired ordering. But the food was good. I posted 3 pages of the menu as clear as I could with the room lighting from a phone. Menu pg1-3. These files go with the location and Zen Sushi name. If in doubt call or better yet, just go there....
Nagoya Sushi

Let my qualify this with the fact that I may be a bit of a sushi snob...but I feel you cant really mess around when you are consuming raw fish...I really tried to like this place and gave it 3 tries hoping my expirience would get better (as its very close to my house), but I was dissappointed everytime. The chefs are unfriendly and uncreative. Some of the better chefs Ive expirienced ask what I like and tend to tailor orders or create new things depending on what I like...not the case. Dont think they spoke or smiled once. The place reeked of old fish twice...once I lost my appetite and left. Definately get the feeling I could get sick here as they dont seem to be very discerning with the freshness of the fish. This place also never seems to be busy.... a bad sign right there. I have to wonder how long the fish sits there before someone finally shows up to eat it.That being said, I have actually been to worse in the area. Ive been to about 6 places within 5 miles of my house, none I would go back to. Shouldnt be that hard to find good sushi in California but the closet sushi place I have tried near Aliso Viejo is in Costa Mesa well worth the drive, I wont tell you what it is, because its already packed 24/7 and I dont want to make it harder to get a spot at the bar. :)
i20 Ramen
26705 Aliso Creek Rd # F, Aliso Viejo, CA 92656, United States
Found this new Ramen place in Aliso!! We went down to try on a Friday night. Of course it is located in the most busy plaza. It's not bad, we waited for 10-15 minutes to get a table. They have really nice patio seats. I hope I can get to try the patio next time, we got seated indoors. We ordered two Ramen bowls and an appetizer.Spicy tonkatsu ramen is strongly recommended! (If you like a little spiciness in your soup) The broth is so flavorful and rich.Right now you can yelp check in get free toppings including Chashu!!( Is this real?! Yes, it is!!!)THEIR CHASHU IS SOMETHING I WOULD DIE FOR.Jk, as you can see in the picture. The meat is extremely soft inside and a little bit crispy on the outside. The meat they used includes a good ratio of fat meat and slim meat.So far this place has my favorite Chashu in Orange County. I'm so so happy to find a place that gives you a good amount of meat for ramen and tastes this good! You know how it is, other ramen places only give you 2 or 3 slices max. They also have combo deal to have small appetizers along with the ramen. We ordered Takoyaki, and yes it's really good and hot. Key for Takoyaki is to have it fresh and hot, so when you take a bite, the juice will melt in your month. :)Yuzu ramen, one of their specialty on the menu. But i don't recommend you try it unless you really like Yuzu. As an Asian, I dont really like Yuzu. It gives the soup a little bit of a sour taste.Slurp slurp, we will be back for sure.
