Shwe Taung Restaurant
305 N Santa Anita Ave Suite A, Arcadia, CA 91006, United States
Enjoyed their Royal Tea-Leaf salad. Always get this dish at any Burmese restaurant. So many great fresh flavors and textures once all mixed up together.Beef Briyani was a favorite of my wife. Paratha was light, crispy, and quickly devoured by my kids while still warm. Had to try the Mohinga, unique to Myanmar tradition. All food with comforting home-cooked feel and nicely balanced.New owner and staff accommodating and friendly. Kept prior Japanese menu so now can travel thru East Asia to South Asia with their varied offerings representing the entire wide region all in one restaurant.

Ramen Nagi
400 S Baldwin Ave Suite D2, Arcadia, CA 91007, United States
I’ve been on the hunt for a ramen spot that has rivaled the ones I tried in Japan and was recommended this one. The first time we tried to eat here, the line was ~50 people deep so we decided to skip. The second time it had about 5 people on a Monday afternoon so gave it a shot. It is dine in only and no reservations so you are relegated to the queue. They hand you a card and crayons marker for ordering and will give you a run down of the food if it is your first time. Ordered the spicy ramen normal/normal/normal with thick firm noodles and both pork chashu and pork belly and spicy level 1 as well as the chicken special and a pork chashu rice bowl. They ushered us in to a large table in the middle of the restaurant. Considering this is a restaurant in America, I’m surprised the spacing between seats was so little. A server promptly came by and reviewed our order and submitted and the food all came out rather quickly. The chashu rice bowl was first and was ok. The rice was excellent as was the sauce but the minced chashu was too chewy and more reminiscent of a holiday ham in texture than pork chashu. Next came out the ramen and chicken special. The ramen was loaded with deep flavors and was very good. The noodles were definitely the way to order them as we also got some firm thin noodles and they were not as good. The pork chashu again was a bit of a disappointment as it was thinly cut like shabu meat but had the consistency of ham. Next time I would probably skip this all together and go for the pork belly which was unreal. Super tender and flavorful and fatty and a good contrast to the other flavors. Next was the chicken special which was also delicious. The breading and tenderness of the chicken pairs great with the Japanese Mayo they bring out. It is tossed with what tasted like a honey sauce which they could probably do without but those would be worth ordering again. For the two of us plus tip it was about $75 which is on the more expensive side so keep that in mind as any extras add up quickly.Inside the atmosphere is very clean and nice and reminds me of a Japanese restaurant with attentive wait staff.Overall it was a decent ramen spot (depending on what you order) that I wish did take out/delivery.

Maki & Sushi
302 E Huntington Dr, Arcadia, CA 91006, United States
We frequent this establishment often. Sushi rolls are fantastic here. The crispy rice spicy tuna is a must try dish. The combination of crispy rice and the spicy tuna takes this dish to another level of taste. The Arcadia roll is another creative roll that is unique to this restaurant, should give it a try. For lunch and dinner, if you want to try different varieties, you should order the combos. They come with different things like teriyaki chicken or beef, sushi roll, tempura and steam egg soup. This is a solid Japanese restaurant that offers good Japanese dishes.

Ramen Yukinoya
1423 S Baldwin Ave, Arcadia, CA 91007, United States
Food was good- but we waited 30 mins at our table for food because the restaurant was busy entertaining 25 bowls (around that number!) of take out orders. I find it very rude when restaurants do not take eat in patrons seriously, especially that it takes more effort for people to eat in nowadays. Totally no respect. They should give priorities to eat in orders rather than expediting the 25 bowls order. I was very upset because I have a young child and he was hungry waiting- seeing that the kitchen is only focused on serving take out orders is no fun. This is simply a reflection of poor restaurant management skill. And the Japanese host was rude (with Pokémon keychain). I will not visit again.

Tokyo Wako Arcadia
401 E Huntington Dr, Arcadia, CA 91006, United States
Mr. Taka the restaurant manager was refusing to let us dine in for lunch, because they were closing in 20 minutes. He said we had to have reservations and that we should come back at 4pm I told him we drove from far away but he didnt seem to care. The restaurant was pretty much empty. When caucasian couple came in he said he would seat them in less than 30min. He was making so many excuses with me and had horrible English accent, that I couldnt understand. Thats when I whent up to him and ask why they were able to get seated if they didnt have reservations. Mr. Taka realized and seated me. I couldnt belive it! We were being descriminated maybe because I was wearing flip flops and didnt fit to his restaurant image. I have been coming to this restaurant for almost 30 years and have celebrated many birthday days. I felt so humiliated by this man that I will not go back.

Mako Sushi
506 Live Oak Ave, Arcadia, CA 91006, United States
We are regulars to this gem of a restaurant. With sushi it is important to have fresh clean fish. So is the case at Makos. We always have the fish soup..only $4.95! Of course our favorite sushi is yellowtail. I also love octopus! We have seaweed salad and edamame for its healthy green vitamins. The treat of chawanmuchi completes our meal as this egg and shrimp is rare to find outside of rural Japan. An orange, which is cut lovely i offered to each customer eating in the evening. At lunch the meals are less expensive and equally delicious. This small restaurant in a bit hidden strip mall in Arcadia California has the authentic atmosphere of rural Japan. We have been customers for 10 years and have enjoyed each meal. As with all good Japanese restaurants the prices are a bit weighty on the pocketbook but good for the body and soul.

Located inside H Mart grocery store, Kazu Nori is truly a hidden gem. They serve various types of katsu and curry katsu in generous portions at a very affordable price. Kazu Nori has quickly become one of my go to food spots and I find myself going there quite frequentlyFOOD:What I Ordered: Cheese Katsu, Curry PorkCheese Katsu: Seeing pictures of the cheese katsu on the menu, I knew I had to try it. Mozzarella cheese wrapped in a thin layer of pork katsu, what more could you want This dish is made for a true cheese lover as its probably 80% mozzarella cheese, so be prepared for a cheese overload if youre planning to try this dish!Curry Pork: I was really excited to try the Curry Pork. Curry katsu is one of my favorite comfort foods and this place definitely fulfilled my cravings! I love how they package the curry on the side so that the pork stays nice and crispy! The curry is super flavorful and the pork is juicy and crispy. The perfect combination. When I received my food I had no idea how big the portions would be, especially for the curry pork. The curry pork was packed full of delicious pork katsu. Each meal comes with cabbage salad, miso soup, and rice. Kiyosuzu
921 S Baldwin Ave #B, Arcadia, CA 91007, United States
I was looking for a Japanese restaurant owned by a Japanese proprietor in LA. I arrived late, around 7:40 PM, and found only one table occupied. I hesitated to enter at first. However, right by the entrance, I saw numerous pictures of Olympian figure skater Mirai Nagasu on the wall, which reassured me. I ended up having $100 worth of sushi. Honestly, I have no idea how Im going to sleep tonight with such a full stomach! While researching Japanese restaurants, I found that most cost over $100. Its quite a large amount of money. Ultimately, I spent the same, but you can adjust according to your budget. I recommend this restaurant.
