Hanabi Ramen and Japanese Curry
723 California Dr, Burlingame, CA 94010, United States
Cozy Japanese restaurant in Burlingame on California drive. It is usually busy, small seating area. The ramen was very savory, and I like the size of the noodles which are not too thick, not too thin. The eggs are yummy! We also had the coconut shrimp sushi roll which was also delicious.

Very very fresh fish sashimi. Traditional style japanese restaurant so dont expect rolls and many baked foods. Classic japanese taste with lots of japanese customers too. Legit. But, really expensive.

Mr Teriyaki Sushi
851 Burlway Rd #900, Burlingame, CA 94010, United States
Unassuming decor, hidden away in an industrial office complex is this nice little Japanese restaurant run by a super friendly family. The food is great, and its very good value. They get a ton of take out orders, so even if their dining room isnt full, they are always busy. Very popular in Burlingame. The access point is through the driveway on Mahler Road or a little driveway on Bayshore. Either way you wont be able to see their sign until you drive into the parking lot. All credit cards accepted, including AmEx.

Update (5/12/2024):This has become a frequent weekend lunch spot for my family, and we have enjoyed the food and service here for the past year. However, my experience at the restaurant today prompted me to update this review.I brought my mom here for lunch on mothers day. We arrived at the restaurant at 12:15pm, found a table, and placed an order using the online ordering system by scanning the QR code at the table, like usual. The orders were placed at 12:20-12:23pm. We heard the usual ding from the ordering system, and normally the food comes out very quickly. Not today, we waited for ~15 minutes before I headed to the counter to ask about the order. Mind you the restaurant is practically empty. The staff told me that their wifi is down and theyre unable to receive the order, and proceed to ask me to tell them the custom order that I put in so they can make it right then. We placed 2 custom bowl order, so this is a difficult task. Luckily they were able to find our order half way through my first custom bowl order and was able to complete it. The food is great as usual. The restaurant need to handle this situation better.- The staff only came out to collect the QR code printout from the table after I tell them they probably should do that.- The staff at the counter didnt offer much to rectify the situation other than a sorry about that.- We sat at a table in a practically empty restaurant for 15 mins, and the staff didnt come to check on us. It was me who finds out our order didnt get in.Original:Best Poke in the bay area I've tried so far. Get the Yuzu Hamachi.

Ordered on Doordash. Finally I know how juicy a Tonkatsu could be?I watched a lot Japanese TV show. People on the shows were always saying This tonkatsu is so juicy! So delicious. I was so curious and always tried the tonkatsu in different japanese restaurant. So far they were dry and hard to swallow, which disappoints me a lot. But this time I didnt get disappointed! ?Their karaage is good too!

Food was ok at best and overpriced. The service is absolutely crappy. it seems like there are other reviews that agrees with me. There are so many better Japanese restaurants you can give your business too.A bigger group came in looking for a table, the waitress started seating part of the group to the two tables next to us immediately and told them that she will combine a third table for the rest of the group. Turns out the third table was ours. Yes we were done eating, but my husband and I are still drinking our cocktails and was thinking of getting more. However, the waitress asked persistently a few times within 5 minutes if there is anything we need, because Im sure she wanted us to leave so the whole group can sit down. With the group looking at us, we felt so uncomfortable to order more. What kind of server and restaurant rushes out a paying customer? We just finished our meal no more than 10 mins ago, its not like weve been just sipping our drinks for hours. We also asked our udon to be packed, this udon still have almost full amount of soup and when this horrible waitress brought it back, she only packed the noodles with barely any soup! I will never recommend this place to anyone!

They ran out of everything today.First, they ran out of hot water. So no hot tea in a Japanese restaurant. Then the soft shell crab salad wass out either. Also, they ran out of seaweed and kimch.Thats why we get our yakitori don with only Yakitori and half bowl of rice. The deliver the first meal after more than half hour we ordered.Last, about the taste.Seasame salad taste nice.Yakitori don not recommended. You would only get 2stripes of chicken and half bowl of rice. The karaage is a disaster. Obviously overcooked. It was difficult to chew and certainly no juice inside.Totally not recommended.

Benihana
1496 Old Bayshore Hwy, Burlingame, CA 94010, United States
This restaurant standards has reduced quite a bit. It does not have that special treat feeling anymore. Benihana,?You lost that loving feeling..oh that loving ..?The front reception staff were great & friendly?. The bar staff were great & friendly? and the valet staff were great and friendly.?The ambiance is that of the Sizzler now. The ladies restroom was dirty, we observed a food staff reach in the garage then shortly after touch another staff. Apparently by the unfriendly antics of one white waiter there, his amount of respect and great service given is surmised by the color of ones skinThe small six table dining room near the bar is not romantic or cultural but cozy. It is bare basic wooden chair & table with a very high ceiling. The room can get very loud according to guests enthusiasm. The view however is nice especially during a full moon and when the tide comes in. Watching the planes depart and land can be a soothing part of dining. Nearly everyone was in the new fashion norm–dress down friday.?The chicken fried rice based on friends and previous reviews was better but is still good. We did not like the soft shell crab. The tempura shrimp was good but the egg rolls were fried too hard. I discovered that wakame is extra delicious with twist of lemon.?The prices are higher than what I expected? and the food portions less but its the view, the fascinating table side culinary knife shows, the service and ambiance to enjoy in good company that we pay for. Unless you get the six course meal dont expect to leave with a doggie bag; a puppy bag, maybe.?Plan to return with the group to order one of each of the 6 course meals.
