California Sushi & Teriyaki 8--Lakewood
5916 Del Amo Blvd, Lakewood, CA 90713, United States
Formerly the location of Pioneer Chicken, then a Chinese fast food place, California Sushi & Teriyaki serves fast Japanese food in the city of Lakewood. I was looking for lunch that was cool in temperature on a warm Saturday in April, so sushi was the first thing that popped into my mind. Yasai Japanese Grill is my usual go-to fast sushi place, but I wanted to venture out and try something different. Not to mention have another business to review. Up comes California Sushi & Teriyaki to the plate.Arriving inside, I was greeted by a nice lady taking orders. Perusing the menu items on display, I decided upon the super maki special.Super maki special-5 pieces crunch roll, 5 pieces California roll & 5 pieces spicy tuna roll. The rolls were about average size, rolled nicely as to not fall apart when dipped in soy sauce. Not bad, but nothing extraordinary.Unfortunately, the nigiri & rolls come by themselves. Miso soup & edamame arent included. Which, to me, is a real bummer, because other places do offer bonus items to go with sushi.Besides sushi, California Sushi & Teriyaki has, you guessed it, teriyaki. I checked out the teriyaki plates & bowls and they seemed like a good amount of food for the price. The restaurant also has udon soup that is supposed to be pretty good, from what I hear.A fair amount of seating inside. Expect the same amount of seats as youd find at a Popeyes. Service was good. The woman working the register let me use the sole restroom in the kitchen.Parking is in a private lot, shared by Salon Allure, an orthodontist, McDonalds and other businesses. For sushi, I dont think California Sushi & Teriyaki would be my first bet. While the Super maki special served its purpose, not having soup, salad and/or edamame to go with it left me disappointed. The teriyaki & udon, on the other hand, look like they might entice me to try another visit here. I live really closeby, and the chewy bite of udon noodles is something Im mighty looking forward to. So, Ill be back for sure.
Joes Sushi

Not great sushi especially for the expensive price. Ive tried amazing Japanese restaurants in La with great ambience for much less. If you want a local sushi fix there are close locals Ive tried that taste great! I stopped in due to reviews and gross.
Fuji Grill
2704 E Carson St, Lakewood, CA 90712, United States
We went on a Sunday around 1pm. The service was so slow, I think there were only two people working, the cook and the person taking orders. We waited about 5 minutes before someone took our order, there was no one in front of us. Once we ordered we waited about 20 minutes before we received our order. We actually received our complete order before the group of 4 that was there before us. The staff was not very friendly. Lastly, the food wasnt bad but wasnt very good. We ordered the a teriyaki chicken bowl and a teriyaki steak bowl. I should of went to Flame Broiler, theirs is actually better.

The food is always amazing. Definitely my favorite Japanese restaurant in Lodi
Maui Sushi & Teriyaki
9230 Lakewood Blvd, Downey, CA 90240, United States
Food is good. Customer service is horrible. Prices have gone up and food decreased. They include their own tip on to go orders.I have been a long time customers since 2012 and i have noticed the big difference in terms of price food and service. They are now putting less food per plate, for example the calamari was six pieces before the pandemic now is 3 pieces for same order and we pay more. The sushi just to have 12 rolls pieces now it has 10. Some platea increase up to five dollars with less food. Cmon why less food? When the weiter used to bring our food before the pandemic i didnt mind tipping them because they served it in nice plates and we received miso soup for free. Now, its Styrofoam and we have to beg for additional plastic cups to put our soy sauce, not to mention napkins... They give themselves a tip in to go orders and in restaurant, they included it on the total, ask for a detail receipt and you will see it. I just to love it and would go at least 3 times a month, now i will think about it before going. I might not go back since tacos are way cheaper in price. We end up paying 18.50 dollars more on the same order and way less food. >: (
Tokyo Hibachi
5503 Woodruff Ave, Lakewood, CA 90713, United States
This place is amazing. Filled with locals who love Japanese food. This is a hibachi style Japanese restaurant. The chefs cook right in front of you. If you are on the shy side like myself and just want good food, the bar is greatThey also serve sushi. The sushi bar is a nice welcome environment, everyones friendly. I highly recommend this placeMy favorite appetizer is the shrimp with scallops. It is amazing.
Oki Japan
500 Lakewood Center Mall Suite 7, Lakewood, CA 90712, United States
I had a spectacular experience here. I am vegan and am used to being treated with impatience because of this. However, at Oki Japan, they were extremely contentious and through with my order--customizing both my udon noodle soup and my cucumber rolls to my dietary needs. Even asking further questions to make sure there werent any ingredients i missed that I could be allergic to.Oh and for my custom order they actually charged me less! The quality of the food was similar to many higher end Japanese restaurants Ive been too around LA, which pleased me even more.I ate my delicious meal happily and left with a big smile on my face.
Mammas Sushi
5679 Woodruff Ave, Lakewood, CA 90713, United States
I was lookIng for a sushi place around bellflower to treat a client.Based on the Yelp high review, I chose Mamas.I studied the menu before going there since this is the first time in order to make sure I select the good stuff for my client. For lunch, I ordered dinner sashimi (~$20) as an appetizer for beer.At the same time, I ordered two lunch combos; for me Teri beef and Tempura, for my client Salmon and Tempura.Dinner sashimi never came and two lunch combo were served first.I questioned about the sashimi order and my server confirmed the order was not put in to sushi chef. She ensured me it would be ready shortly.I was very disappointed for three reasons;1. Servers mistake of not double checking the order with chef2. Sashimi was very poor quality for the price; paper thin slices, artificial color of raw tuna3. Teri beef was so tough (it was like beef jerky). If I was the cook, I would throw away and never served such overcooked meat to customersPerhaps, they may be good for other dishes but I would not go back to this restaurant. For the future customer, dont trust most of the Yelp reviews, and dont expect too much from this restaurant.
