My favorite Japanese restaurant in Fremont. Hand rolls are amazing, and wine tastes great.

Their teriyaki is terrible! I literally couldnt eat, fed to my pups. The chicken itself was a little dry but ok, it was their sauce that made it inedible. It didnt taste like any teriyaki sauce Ive ever had, it was more like soy sauce. It was not sweet at all and very salty. Also the California roll I had had a distinct vinegar taste. The gyoza were ok but a bit soggy (was a Togo order but only took like 5 minutes away they were soggier than I would have expected). The lucky 7 roll my boyfriend had was ok, not bad but not great either (the only reason for the two stars). It also completely fell apart while trying to eat it so was very messy (which wouldnt matter if it was that delicious but it wasnt).A bunch of reviews talk about the prices being low but I didnt see that (bento box was 15.95 and roll was around 15 too). Theyre not expensive but not worth what they charge, they are on par with nicer Japanese restaurants. Pier 98 is just across Newark Blvd. prices are similar but much better food and nicer restaurant. One last thing is that their togo boxes are styrofoam so part of one had melted slightly which is never good.Definitely wont be back and dont understand how this place has so many good reviews.
Taos Fresh

I ate here on numerous occasions, but due to my recent experience, I will not be bringing myself & my family here again. The previous times that Ive eaten here (around 5-6), I had an overall good experience. The food was great, the service was good, and it was just a good place for my family to dine in and enjoy the time overall. However, on my most recent visit (the 11th), my wife and I decided to eat here to celebrate our son, turning 6 months. We went during a weekday in the evening, so it was pretty busy but not overwhelmingly busy.We ordered a set of appetizers and our main dishes and topped it off with boba that they have.We were not asked a single time on how we were doing and if we needed anything. We had to wait for the server to be completely free just to get her attention in order to get additional napkins. On top of that, the server only gave a single piece of a napkin, which absolutely felt like an insult due to their small size and the apparent cost cutting measures they were doing. For the appetizers, my wife and I ordered their Pot Stickers and Walnut Prawns.Prawns were good, well sized, evenly glazed, and topped with a good amount of walnut. It was crispy and very flavorful. The pot stickers were bland, no crisp to them whatsoever, and the filling was average at best. Overall, it was just very disappointing, to say the least.Onto the main entree, I ordered a rice plate with salmon and beef. Just like the pot stickers, it felt very bland, felt rushed, and for the extra beef that I added while ordering, it didnt feel justifable for what I have received to what was being charged. Ive eaten here numerous times and felt unsatisfied with my recent visit. The boba was spot on as always, no complaints, the brown sugar boba I had ordered was very flavorful, boba was soft and chewy, and had a creamy feel to it. The drink was good, to where I placed another order for it mid-meal. (10-15 mins prior to leaving)Towards the end is where it was very disappointing. I attempted to pay online via their website as I typically did the previous times I have been here. Ive tipped 15% each time I have been here, HOWEVER, this time, I have found out that with my recent visit, if you are DINING in, you are OBLIGED to pay a 15% tip that was not posted anywhere within the restaurant. Shoot, it wont even let you complete your payment online without tipping a minimum of 15%. Theres an option to put a custom amount, which was what I originally intended to do, but even with that, you must call the server over in order to complete your payment. So then, I decided to pay up at front. Payment went smoothly, with no issues until where she printed the receipt for me to sign. As soon as she handed it over, she pointed with the pen and reminded me to leave a tip. I already had a negative experience and kept my mouth shut as I told my wife that well just dine another time to see if our experience can justify our negative one, but when I was reminded to leave a tip, it was that cherry on top that prompted me to leave no tip. So when it came to the tip portion of the receipt, I marked it with a line signaling that I was not tipping for the experience that my family and I received. As I was done, I went to the bathroom to freshen up, reconnected with my family, and were heading over to the exit to carry on with our day. I told my wife to wait out at the front for the boba that I have ordered Mid-Meal that we havent received yet as I intended to bring our son to the car to get settled and what not to leave the area. Before I could walk out, after having had fully paid and what not, the OWNER stopped to confront me with the receipt I had signed earlier prompting me to leave a tip saying it was mandatory for ALL dine in guests regardless of their party size. I ALWAYS tip when I receive decent service and very rarely not. But when I chose not to tip for not getting decent service, I stood firm on it as Ive explained to the owner. In summary, I wouldnt recommend coming here unless you dont value your money.
Kakushi Izakaya

Stumbled upon this while looking for izakayas in the area. Got to enjoy it after gymming with my partner. The store itself is narrow with seating thats mostly for pairs. The service was friendly and attentive. We got a chazuke, chirashi bowl, hot sake, and a sushi roll.Chazuke - I would not recommend getting this. There is way too much rice and very little fish. The tea is poured by the server, and you cant add anymore. It just became mostly rice with a bit of tea and barely any fish and toppings. I would not consider a substantial meal, but it could be a nice supplement to your other foods if you just wanted more rice and something warm.Chirashi - I love looking at how different places make their bowls. I wanted a variety of fish, and the presentation and selection here did not disappoint. I usually dont finish a whole bowl all to myself because theres so much stuff. I enjoyed the salmon and tamago. All the fish felt soft and tender. The flower is a nice touch!I cant speak much on the sushi roll since it was my partners but he really enjoyed it.I didnt get to try their skewers and they seemed a bit pricey (as izakayas can be) but I would come back based on this good experience!
O Sushi Newark
34940 Newark Blvd, Newark, CA 94560, United States
If tempura is the only measure of quality for a Japanese restaurant, osushi would rank high in the list. They made great tempura. California roll is fresh and soft; sushi deluxe is okay, not great, but fair. I ordered a hand roll (not on the menu). It is my mistake; the hand roll they made is small and tasteless. So, stick to their menu, you will find many options for a decent Japanese dinner.
Bonchon Newark
39770 Cedar Blvd, Newark, CA 94560, United States
Ordered 30 wings (only) through DoorDash. Received wings and drumsticks combo (even the receipt shows it is a combo). When I called the restaurant, I was amazed by the responses.1. First of all, the girl at the restaurant asked me are you sure because our wings have the small drum part. Are you trying to insult a customer that she cant tell a whole wing from a drumstick?2. Then, as the conversation went on, she said I remember packing your order, I gave you 30 wings. When I told her hello, even your receipt said combo and I have all these unwanted drumsticks in front of me; then her answer was DoorDash messed up the order. Hello again, you think the poor DoorDash driver can magically found 15 drumsticks to mess up the order?3. Finally, she told me you have to contact DoorDash because technically you are their customer not ours. Hello again!Enjoy the pictures. Bonchon, you may be amazed by how yourself sounded! $45 got me a good laugh and unwanted drumsticks! Hope you get something out of it too.

I have a feeling the rice and chomein come from Panda Express even the egg rolls (egg roll really tasted bad like if it was stored for days) and napkins are from Panda Express .... they probably buy takeout trays and sell more expensive...... the Shrimp and chicken and meat is really good... it just bothers me they use Panda Express for there rice and chomein.

Hinodeya Newark

This is probably the second or probably third Hinodeya location I've been to in the Bay Area…?! And Hinodeya does not fail with their ramen ? honestly. I was rather quite impressed with this location, but became a little critical… but that's always a foodie's dream, as always. My friend and I decided to get Hinodeya after calling the restaurant and asking if they could take out bamboo shoots and seaweed (friend's personal preference), and they were absolutely accommodating. Hence, we went because we knew we were in for an experience. The chicken karaage was honestly a little bit disappointing — to say the least. While the chicken was good, the portion was a little too small. I had wished they could have served a bigger plate, because that for $10 was not really worth it.Then came the ramen. The broth was really rich and honestly I could taste how strong the dashi taste was. The wheat noodles were very spongy and very al dente, which was enough to mix along with the other things in there. Good crunchy garlic side too. The meat was very yummy and so was the spinach…The only thing i would have liked to see was a little bit more soup… it was a little too less and it got saturated by the noodles a little too fast. Now the atmosphere is honestly mid. I honestly would have wished the tables were more spread apart — but it's such a tight space where I had to be very aware of my surroundings. The location is prime location, just I wish they could have considered putting less chairs instead of so many more chairs.I'll definitely be coming back to eat here with my other friends — but for the meantime, I'm gonna let this location sit for now, and try the other ones.
