Samurai Restaurant

Was excited to go to Japanese restaurant in Tahoe but really disappointed with this one. We came here for lunch and we were the second customer here, took like 20 mins to take order smh. Hefty price for mediocre food? The food here were basic nothing special for that price. $20 for a salmon teriyaki and it’s a small plate with small servings of food. Three dip steak was so dry and chewy. So disappointed with food and ambience. The server was not friendly either. Never coming back here.
Sato Japanese Restaurant
3436 Lake Tahoe Blvd, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150, United States
My boyfriend and I tried Sato Japanese Restaurant on Saturday at 5:30PM. We were immediately greeted and we chose to sit at the sushi bar for the all you can eat section. There was 2 other couples there. All you can eat is about $25 per person. You mark which type of sushi you would like on the list that they give you. If you have any special requests, you write it in. Everything was made fresh and delicious! The staff was really nice and we only had to wait a few minutes for the first roll. We pretty much tried half the menu and nothing disappointed us. LolBy 6pm, the sushi bar was pretty busy, so you might want to call in advance if theres a wait time.My favorites were the baked mussels, rainbow roll, sato special, and the incredible roll; but take caution, the incredible roll has onions in it. :)
The Naked Fish

Definitely a five star Japanese restaurant! We were sitting in front of the chef Cesar. We ordered Omakase and the food was presented to us course by course. Presentation was brilliant. Fish was so fresh. Chef was so fun to talk to. He painted lots of paintings on the wall. An culinary artist. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves Sushi. Will come back to Lake Tahoe for this restaurant.

Nice little Japanese restaurant, decent price, only wish that dumplings were one side pan fried instead of whole deep fried.

This is one of the most beautiful rooms we’ve ever stayed in. They have thought of everything from the SUPER comfy bed to the beautifully selected decor that was thoughtfully selected for a relaxing atmosphere. It was 20 degrees outside and the Japanese soaking tub with the heater above on the balcony was just what I needed after a hectic week. You also won’t find a better brunch In all of south Lake than Maggie’s! It was Amazingly delicious. From the friendly staff to the room to the restaurant, this place was great! I would give it 10 stars if I could!!!
Cafe Fiore
1169 Ski Run Blvd, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150, United States
After reading several good words about the Café fiero-S. Lake Tahoe, we made a reservation (07/31). As all said in their reviews it is in a very small setting, tables are close each other more than you wish to be. We were seated front of the restroom. Practically, I was seeing the people going in and out. They should not put a table in that location where was the worst in the room. The best seat must be reserved for a guest who made the reservation several days before the time. Let others who dropped in the last min sit in front of the rest room or place a Japanese Separator front of this WC door. The food introduction was good and plenty; the service was also good. The server lady never left us without water etc but not friendly with us. Yet, I did not give two stars for that, my two stars go to the location of our table. Also, some guests got way more attention by the servers than others. An explanation from the restaurant manager/owner will save my speculation, please.Food was excellent!! Base on servers recommendation, my husband and I got sword fish which was the best we have ever had; specifically capers present a very blended taste. The bill was over than the expectation we simply paid $175 to this dinner without any desert or drink!! I recommend this restaurant to all who like Italian and good food.
The Lake House Restaurant
1181 Emerald Bay Rd, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150, United States
When I'm about to spend a few hundred dollars at a restaurant, I'm thoughtful in choosing a place that I deem worthy, especially if I'm bringing guests visiting from another state to try some of California's best fine dining scene. With that said, I made dining reservations for 7:30pm at The Lake House for 4 people on a Friday evening. It was my first time visiting the Lake Tahoe region as well as my guests's first time and our vacation was coming to a close so I recommend The Lake House as it has a plethora of solid reviews from countless patrons. It looked like a safe bet but boy was I mistaken. On the night of our dinner reservation, we were running a little late. As I mentioned earlier, our reservation was set for 7:30pm but we were going to be about 5-10 minutes late. I decided to give a courtesy call to The Lake House and profusely apologized that we were running late because we underestimated our ETA. The hostess, over the phone, was giving me attitude because of our tardiness. As soon as I hung up the phone with her, she immediately sends me a text message notifying me that they “only have outdoor seating only” and that “we should dress warm”. Basically punishing us because we were a little late and are not familiar with the area. Not to mention that if you work the the restaurant industry that these types of things happen all the time.We arrive at The Lake House and are greeted by the Hostess, she sarcastically asks if we received her text message update and hopes that we “dressed warmly, did you receive my message to bring coats?” She sent this update less than 5 minutes before we arrived. She guides our party through the restaurant to the back and into an outdoor tented area with other dinners. Our table was not set, no appropriate lighting and the heat lamp wasn't even on to warm other guests. We were sifting through the dinner menu in the dark with our phone lights illuminating the menu items. Before we were seated, we asked the hostess if there was any way we could possibly wait a little longer for an indoor table to become available? She just said “no no, not really. Nothing else indoors is available”. She said this with a very demeaning attitude almost as if she was punishing us for arriving a little late.My guests and I are visiting from out of town and are not familiar with this area. Its such a shame because the food at The Lake House actually looks very good, but unfortunately if good service doesnt follow good food then no amount ZAGAT awards or Michelin stars will suffice for how we were treated last night. Ive been treated with better service at a drive through than this place has given me. It does not give me pleasure to write this review, especially since many businesses are going through an economic reckoning with COVID-19 restrictions and the record setting west coast wild fires. I would much rather prefer writing a glowing review to lift up small businesses. I should actually be thanking the hostess of The Lake House for saving me my time and money. We ended up spending our last evening at Scusa Italian Risorante and having a wonderful end to our Lake Tahoe trip. Do yourself a favor and skip The Lake House.
Ha Noi Pho

I thought it was a Vietnamese restaurant, but the menu had Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, etc. But it was all delicious! Whats disappointing is that I ordered something like bun cha, but the noodles were too warm, so I didnt like it... But the rice noodle soup was delicious, the fried rice was delicious, and the portions were huge.
Tahoe Lakeshore Lodge & Spa
930 Balbijou Rd, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150, United States
The good: Location. Right off of the main highway, close to anything you need. The private beach was great & is what you are paying for. It was very nice walking out of our room onto the beach, especially when all of the Tahoe public beaches were so crowded that we couldnt even get in. The water on this side of the lake is not the deep blue or emerald green you see elsewhere & there was a lot of moss in the water but once you walked out into the water a little bit the moss wasnt so bad. The hotel has beach chairs you can use for free on a first come basis. They do not have any kayaks or paddle boards available for guests which would have been really nice if they did. They refer you to a marina where if you mention their name they get a kick back. There is a small place within walking distance that you can rent them. The heated pool was nice, clean and perfect temperature. The hot tub was also nice. We also enjoyed the firepit. They had music on the beach on of the nights we were there & that was a lot of fun.The not so good: We stayed in a regular queen room, no kitchenette. The rooms are very dated. Although the bedframe, bedside table & dresser is nice, everything else needs an upgrade. The paint is dark making the room dark & dingy looking. It could use a fresh coat of brighter paint. The lampshades are also dark/dingy looking. It would probably help some if they would put some brighter LED lights in them. The carpet could stand to be replaced. There is no air conditioning here. They do provide a fan which provided some relief but there were times it was definitely stuffy in the room. The shower had good water pressure & the water was always hot. The exterior of the hotel could use an update. Kind of looks like a Motel 6. We only had housekeeping come in once during our 6 day stay.Overall we enjoyed our stay here. It wasnt 5 star by any means but it suited our needs.
