Kyushu Ramen
15355 Sherman Way, Van Nuys, CA 91406, United States
Great authentic Japanese food. The best ramen Ive had in the valley by far. I was also surprised to find a traditional Japanese dish that I loved when I was living in Japan. Most Japanese restaurants dont have this traditional plate so it was nice eat it...brought back some good memories. Enjoy this place and their food
Poke Rainbow
15355 Sherman Way R, Van Nuys, CA 91406, United States
I've tried many pokes all those years and most of them taste pretty similar, some of them certainly tasted better but not that huge different until I tried this place. This review has nothing to do with the environment or the service. It's solely focus on the taste, which is absolutely beyond my imagination. I had house sauce and my wife had the spicy Mayonnaise and both of them only has salty flavor but nothing else. It's real disappointment. I did my research on google and Yelp before ordering, now I'm start to doubt the legitimacy of those good reviews. Again, this has nothing to do with the service since my wife picked them up and there's nothing to talk about. But the taste and flavor... We would never try this place ever again
Hibachi 773
6350 Van Nuys Blvd, Van Nuys, CA 91401, United States
My wife and I randomly ended up here. I had been out walking and was looking for a place to get a simple beef bowl. I did a quick search for some place with a beef bowl and Hibachi Japanese Grill popped up.The staff was nice and very aware of the wait time. They apologized but, since I cook for a living, I was unbothered because good food takes time.My wife and I both had the steak plate. I went with steamed rice and rare steak (which was surprising that was even an option). My wife went with fried rice and medium steak. I also wanted to try the Hibachi Smash Burger, so I got them both. I liked the steak plate. On its own, it needed a little salt. But when dressed with a combination of garlic butter and sriracha, it was great! With the great garlic flavor and spice, it was the perfect combination. The burger itself was incredible. The flavors of the melted cheese, caramelized onions, and beef guaranteed that I will be back!

Oh Oh Sushi & Teriyaki
6411 Sepulveda Blvd #1f, Van Nuys, CA 91411, United States
I want to start off by saying I USUALLY like this spot. Its close to my work and convenient when I want sushi on my lunch break. I probably would give 5 stars, as I do most places I like, IF I didnt just receive the worst attitude today, and the only reason I didnt leave it at one star is because my prior experiences were not bad.I came in on my lunch at 2:50. I let these 2 guys go ahead of me while I was looking at the menu. I finally ordered and sat down - receipt is time stamped at 2:54. It was slow, there were a total of 4 tables - and 1 of them left shortly after I sat down. The guys ahead of me got their 2 rolls within 5 minutes, I got my miso soup. Two women walked in and ordered bowls. They got their food within 5 minutes. Finally, I got up to ask about my order...since almost 15 minutes had passed since I ordered. I was told it was coming right up. As I went to sit back down, I hear someone say 5 more minutes. So, I got back up to inform them that I was on a 30 minute lunch break and I had been waiting for going on 15 minutes. Instead of an apology for the inconvenience, I get the small girl turning her back on me as she responds the the kitchen is backed up and busy with an attitude - as if I cant feel you rolling your eyes at me with the tone of voice you were using with me, save that attitude for your mama, not your paying customers! I get my food after 20 minutes of waiting, and a menu handed to me to call in ahead of time next time. Do you really think there is going to be anymore next times? My entire lunch break is gone and I have no time to eat my sushi...would it be a good idea for me to save it a couple of hours until my next break?OWNER of this company...I implore you to speak to your staff about the attitude they give to YOUR customers. I doubt you think making someone wait 20 minutes for their food is okay. You know? If they made a mistake and forgot to put my order in, a genuine apology would have gone a lot further than the BS excuse that you were backed up - there were 3 tables and the table ahead of me and after BOTH got their food within 5 minutes of ordering! It somehow magically got backed up around MY order? Disappointed because I now dont have a sushi business near my work I would like to support.
Okamoto Kitchen
15455 Cabrito Rd, Van Nuys, CA 91406, United States
I recently had the opportunity to try out the Okamoto Kitchen food truck, and while the experience wasnt perfect, there were certainly some highlights worth mentioning. I ordered the Katsu curry burger and the Okamoto Punch, hoping to savor some unique and delicious flavors.Starting with the Katsu curry burger, I must admit that I was a bit disappointed. The patty was dry, and to make matters worse, it was served slightly cold. The combination of these factors significantly affected the overall enjoyment of the burger. I believe that if the patty had been cooked juicier and served hot, it would have greatly improved the eating experience. As for the Okamoto Punch, I found that it didnt pair well with the Katsu curry burger. The flavors seemed a bit mismatched, and it didnt enhance the overall taste of the meal. However, its worth noting that taste preferences can vary, so this might be a matter of personal preference.Despite the shortcomings of my first experience, I am willing to give Okamoto Kitchen another chance in the future. Its possible that the dryness and temperature issue with the burger were due to a high volume of orders at the time. So, next time, Ill make sure to visit the food truck when there are fewer people, hoping for a better culinary experience. On a positive note, my cousin tried the Okonomi fries, and he thoroughly enjoyed them. He mentioned that they were flavorful and satisfying, indicating that the food truck does have some delicious offerings. Its encouraging to know that Okamoto Kitchen has other dishes that receive positive reviews. In conclusion, my experience with Okamoto Kitchen was a bit mixed. The Katsu curry burger left much to be desired, being dry and slightly cold, while the Okamoto Punch didnt complement the burger as expected. However, I would be willing to give the food truck another try in the future, particularly when there are fewer people ordering. Additionally, the positive feedback on the Okonomi fries from my cousin indicates that there is potential for deliciousness on their menu.
Golden Bowl Teriyaki
13718 Sherman Way, Van Nuys, CA 91405, United States
Im not in this part of town often. I normally stay in SGV. So I was about to just pull through Subway or McD in the same plaza when I yelped this place. Sooo many reviews saying its the best teriyaki theyve ever had. Lots of elite reviewers saying that. I was like cmon, if youre gonna say that I HAVE to try it. I got a #5. Chicken Teri and shrimp. Comes with a small salad, 1000 dressing. It comes a little dry. Extra sauce is a MUST. I drowned that shih. And know what? Its pretty good. I wouldnt say best ever, but it does blow chains like Waba and Flame Broiler out the water. Cant compare to Yoshinoya, totally different beast. But chicken is a little more chopped up, so the sauce can penetrate, rice was cooked well, the small salad with half slice tomato and slice of cucumber was good. I dig this place. We dont have anything in SGV like this. Closest is B-Mans, and BMans not as good as this place. Totally recommend this spot. But get EXTRA SAUCE. Skip the avocado too. I got that because everyone on yelp gets it, but I dont think it adds anything to the flavor. Oh yeah, they have Horchata, tamarindo, Jamaica drinks here too.
Sushi Goken
8205 Woodman Ave #109, Van Nuys, CA 91402, United States
Cannot overstate how thrilled I am that this sushi spot opened up walking distance from my house. Stopped in for dinner the first time and now back again for lunch. This is some of the best sushi I have had and I regularly eat at amazing sushi restaurants all over LA and beyond. The owner is so kind and personable and is truly talented. He has created some very unique and delicious rolls and the quality of the sushi and sashimi is excellent. Must order are the Crunch Eel Blue Crab Roll, The Mexi Cali Roll, The Cajun Roll, and the Albacore sushi. The chef adds a sauce to the albacore that has a slight sweetness to it that is amazing. Please try this spot if you are in the area, you will not regret it. :)
OSAKA JAPAN

Taste okay. But it looks like cheap fast food. Next time, I would eat elsewhere. And when they ran a card, it asked for a tip.A TIP??? FOR WHAT?It processed fast Japanese food. Everything was in paper products. This was NOT a restaurant but a FAST FOOD JAPANESE SHOP.SORRY. NO TIP.

Saw the reviews on yelp and decided to check it out. The place (dining area) was basic but clean. The prices seems reasonable, I ordered the lunch combo (2-item chicken and steak) it cakes with white rice and vegetables (fried rice can be substituted for &1.00 more), Vegetables are broccolis and cucumbers. The chicken and steak was diced into small cube size for easy chew, it was yummy! I plan on trying chicken and shrimp next time, the menu lists the prices of the foods but they strangely don't list the prices of the drinks, the cooler with the drinks don't list the prices, I hope they fix this soon, it's kinda irksome to have to ask the prices of each of the drinks. The cashier was nice enough but could be friendlier in answering questions about the drinks.I would come back for the food
