Surawon Korean BBQ
16448 Norwalk Blvd, Cerritos, CA 90703, United States
After hh-ing at EMC, and going to the Bobtory plaza that was unexpectedly closed, my crew and I made it to Surawon. LOVE THAT THERES FREE PARKING! I didnt recognize this as a korean restaurant because the decor was that of a Mexican restaurant. This is a great group restaurant, as there are many dishes that are meant to be shared with 2-3 people. Their banchan was soo goood and Im such a banchan fan that this is +2 stars for me. Many of the dishes here are soup based- spicy and not spicy. It is a very mom and pop feel, and I recommend you trying the Gamchatang- pork neck and potato stew. The meat is fall off the bone tender. It comes with rice to mix the stew in. And at the end, you slurp down the stew which warms your stomach :)My only regret is not properly securing it in my car as my to-go portion spilled all over my car after falling down T_T

The kung pao beef was delicious. We also tried the Korean Sweet and Sour Pork and my husband loved it. The restaurant is nice and quiet and the customer service is good.

Gangnam Tofu Korean Cuisine
11740 San Pablo Ave Suite C, El Cerrito, CA 94530, United States
I decided to try out Gangnam Tofu after hearing about how they just recently opened a Korean Restaurant in El Cerrito. Its a small place packed with BIG FLAVOR. The menu may look limited but there are a ton of yummy options everyone can enjoy! The portions are very generous as well. The popcorn chicken was massive. You can also choose your sauce for the popcorn chicken. The tofu soup was so good. Normally Im not a huge fan of soup but its so good. The rice bowls are delicious as well! My favorite would have to be the side dishes and the Gangnam Chicken with the special sauce its AMAZING!

Gen Korean BBQ House
11472 South St, Cerritos, CA 90703, United States
My girlfriend and I used to come to Gens often, we went for the first time in 4 years last night. Wow, it is not the experience we remember. The Mrs. claims it is our worst dining experience ever (I would put it maybe second or third). It was a Friday night, around 20:50, so of course we expected it to be busy and we were fine with waiting. So we check in at the main location and wait the 30 minutes outside of the building, everything seemed well handled there. However, when we were summoned inside, we were instructed to go to the new secondary building just down the way. Now the scene there is definitely not completely the fault of the staff... but it was chaos. It was the complete opposite to the main building. The staff did not appear to completely know what was going on. Long story short, we had to wait almost another hour. Which again, we understand that it was a Friday and sometimes it gets like that. However, we continued to be disappointed once we were seated. The hostess seated us and didnt say anything, then a few minutes later a server appeared and asked us what we wanted. He hurriedly put an order for some recommended items and two waters, as we requested, then said he would be back. We were brought a few small sides and then that is all we heard for maybe around 10 minutes. Then finally some meat comes to us. Though we have not been given plates, tongs, utensils, or anything that we need to start. We got the attention of another server, because ours was nowhere to be found, who brought us some plates and tongs (they all acted like it was an extreme burden). Heres the thing, by this point it was after 10pm and the place was beginning to die down, yet we still were not be attended to in the slightest. We waited another 10 minutes before we saw our waiter again and had to ask him for our waters. We put in for meats at this time because we did not know when we would see him again. On several occasions we asked for items that we never got, such as two plates of meat and sides, such as kimchi. It was 11pm and we had only had one round of meat and seen our waiter maybe twice... we had been seated for an hour. We ordered one more round of meat and also asked for some more sides. We asked about them a few times, though we never got them, instead our waiter was laughing and talking with his co-workers. Look I completely understand how it gets, I used to work food service, but at this point we wanted to just eat the stuff we ordered and leave. We never got the sides. So we just ate our last plate of meat and finally got his attention for the cheque. 5 mins later he came to take it, there is very few people here at this point, it is half empty and they are about to close. I watched him take it behind the counter, leave it with someone, then proceed to go to the other side of the restaurant to go and talk to his friends. We waited over 10 mins just for our card back, it was 23:35 at this point, past their closing time. The weirdest thing is that we tried to make conversation with him, saying that tonight was a really busy night, and he tells us no this is not even really busy tonight, this is quite calm, yet we did not get half of our orders and were never checked on, we had to grab the attention of servers every time. I like to give food service staff the benefit of the doubt and I usually do not think much of it (like I said, I used to work food service). However, this was a very very negative experience and I do not think we will ever come back to Gens. Red Palace is around the corner and I think we wouldve avoided a lot of these problems if we had eaten there. We spent over 3 hours at Gens where we couldve spent half of the time elsewhere. I would recommend avoiding Gens in favour of somewhere else.

Jang Dok Dae Restaurant
16440 Norwalk Blvd, Cerritos, CA 90703, United States
This place is an old school Korean restaurant but the food is excellent. As someone who recently moved from Koreatown LA to a gateway city, I had to find my go to Korean restaurant and I think this is one of my favorite places. We like to get the Uhndaegoo jorim (braised black cod). Some of our other favorites are the dahk gae jang, as well as the bohtsahm. The atmosphere is very modest and simple, but this is the kind of place that suits me.I highly recommend this place both for Korean traditionalists as well as non-Koreans who just want some really good quality Korean food.

Somunnan Korean Restaurant
13303 Artesia Blvd, Cerritos, CA 90703, United States
SOUTH KOREA ??Excerpt from Eat the World Los Angeles:Near the center of an east-west corridor from the 605 through Buena Park to Fullerton that keeps getting more and more Korean restaurants, the original Somunnan lives in the quiet shopping center once occupied by the now closed Good Fortune Supermarket. Along with a donut shop, a liquor store, and a Korean fried chicken joint, the center forges forward at the end of 2020 hoping for a better fate than the market.A hearty portion of gamjatang ($13.25) is right at the top of the menu and a must try according to the restaurant. The spine of the pig is in pieces in the bowl with delicious tender chunks of meat barely clinging to it after slow cooking. The spicy broth contains potatoes, some greenery, onions, peppers, and ground sesame.A longtime favorite Korean late night drinking food is budae jjigae ($12.50), which probably translates to hot dog soup in English. That is a lie, but hot dogs make up a good volume underneath the vibrant red broth along with Spam, kimchi, recently unpackaged dry ramen noodles, and chewy rice cakes.

KFC (Korean fried chicken) is the best friend chicken, IMHO.10% off coupon*Social Distancing review*BBQ Chicken opened several months ago, and Ive had the 10% coupon in my possession for awhile now. During the midst of the lockdown going on, I stopped by for BBQ Chickens $9.99 boneless lunch special (M-F 11:30am - 2:30pm). Coming with french fries, pickled daikon & canned soda, the boneless options are -Golden originalSecret spicyHot spicyHoney garlicSoy garlicCheeslingGang-jeongSecret spicy boneless wings-When a menu items secret, I gotta go for or it. The heat level was good. I couldve gone higher. The fried chicken was cooked flawlessly. Moist & tender, with a crunchy exterior. Theres just something about Korean fried chicken. An ample amount of fries to carbo load on, the pickled daikon helped cut into all the grease from the fries & chicken. Im a tried & true bone-in kind of guy, but I do boneless for BBQ Chickens lunch combo (unless they start having bone-in as an option *hint, hint*).Service was good. The young man working the counter was friendly. My food took a little while to come out, even though I was the first & only customer of the day, thus far. Thats a good thing, as Im assured my food is freshly cooked. BBQ Chicken is located inside Landmark Square, directly in front of Umaya Ramen.BBQ Chicken, you tickle my fried chicken fancy! I dont need to be convinced Korean fried chicken is the tastiest & most bestest (I know, not a word), because Ive been a believer for years. BBQ Chicken does it right, and I dont need to watch Crash Landing on You to understand that. Chickens on point, the place is within walking distance & the lunch combo is perfect for a quick meal option.Highly recommend!

Flame Broiler
11891 Del Amo Blvd, Cerritos, CA 90703, United States
When you fan the flames, the hunger will broilFlame Broiler Cerritos, which opened in January, sent out flyers advertising their Customer Appreciation Weekend on May 21 - 22nd, which had chicken bowls for $5 & $1 drinks. Ive been to the Artesia & La Palma locations on a handful of occasions, so having an opportunity for discounted food close to home was something I couldnt pass up.Ordering goes as follows-Size - mini, regular or plateBase - rice (white or brown), veggies or bothProtein - skinless chicken, Angus beef, organic tofu or half & halfI remember food being previously made to order, but now it seems Flame Broiler now pre-cooks their food and stores them in covered warming trays.Pro - Less time for foodCon - Food isnt freshly preparedChicken bowl with vegetables, no rice-With a slathering of magic sauce, not to mention the red & green hot sauces, the chicken bowl with veggies proved to be a great weekend lunch. The veggies consisted of cabbage, broccoli & carrots. The chunks of chicken were tender & moist. I wouldve preferred more to my bowl, but with my request for lots of green onions, I had a meal that was quite pleasing to my palate.Between the 2 hot sauces, I preferred the green sauce because it had more body to it.Flame Broiler has several specials posted on the windows, which include-Tues. Special-2 chicken bowls $10.99Weekend Special-$5.69 chicken bowlsService was good. My order was taken promptly & I had my food in no time. Ample seating, via booths & seats. The Flame Broiler has a spotless interior, which looks like they opened today and not a few months ago.Parking is in a private lot, with Flame Broiler directly in front of Crunch Fitness. Once Crunch opens, Im sure Flame Broiler is going enjoy brisk business from health-conscious gym members.Flame Broiler is a great local option for quick eats by way of their bowls or plates. The chicken was good, and now Im game to try the Angus beef. With reasonable prices, flavorful food & minimal wait time, Im sure to frequent this location when I want to get my grub on.Highly recommend!NOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOM
