Seoul Korean Corndog & Fried Chicken
272 E Via Rancho Pkwy, Escondido, CA 92025, United States
와 정말 너무 맛있었어요! 찐한국맛! 추천 합니다Omg? I didnt know such a good authentic korean fried chicken place was up here in Escondido omg. Didnt think itd be good bc its in a mall food court but wow. It is delicious. The Ddeokbokki is spicy and so authentic. Id recommend just the regular ddeokbokki not the special. Special only has one dumpling and one shrimp and cheese added on top.I got the large chicken boneless with garlic sauce on the side, and the fried chicken was soooo crispy. All of this took 10 minutes to come out at 6:30 pm on a saturday!!!This and the special ddeokbokki was perfect portions for me and my parents. Prices were completely reasonable too. Total of $45 for both things.I highly recommend this place.정말정말 너무 맛있었어요!! 추천합니다!!

K-BOP PLATE
200 E Via Rancho Pkwy, Escondido, CA 92025, United States
I have been very disappointed by Korean restaurants in San Diego area. Actually in the United States... Except in Garden Grove or in Los Angeles, you cannot find a restaurant that serves the authentic Bibimbop. Well, until today. This place serves a very authentic taste of Koreas signature dish, Bibimbop (which means mixed vegetable & rice dish).I am a meat eater but am trying to be a vegan (because of the strong persuasion from my wife...). So, I long for meat taste. But today, I had ordered two vegan Bibimbop to go (one for my wife, and one for myself) without eggs nor bulgogi (which is also my favorite Korean dish).Even without meat or fried eggs (which generally comes with Bibimbop in Korea), the vegan Bibimbop tasted so good. Every ingredients were sauteed with just right amount of flavor. You see a lot of restaurants in the United States substitute the traditional ingredients with cheaper vegetables. But not here! I could not believe the owner is using the right vegetables! Thats not easily seen in the US. And the dish maintained the right harmony and balance of flavors! Also type of rice they use... They are not using cheap rice. I am very particular about the quality of rice (my wife rolls her eyes when I say different rice have different flavors). And this place uses a high quality rice.I opted the traditional Korean sauce instead of other options that were more Americanized flavors. Even the sauce was superb. It had a just slight hint of sweetness, not so spicy, and not so salty...but with so much flavor. Aroma (even though its a cold dish) was amazing. I could smell that sesame oil mixed with sauce on the other side of our building. (My wife ate hers first at the front desk, while I was fixing something in the back.)Everything (vegetables, their respective portions, quality of rice, and the sauce) was like a well orchestrated symphony of flavors in my mouth. Dont get me started about how healthy this dish is!And the price is so reasonable! What a bargain! In case, if you wonder, I have no relationship to this restaurant. I never met the owner (unless the gentleman who served me today is the owner...I didnt speak to him much. Just ordered my food, paid, and left). I am just happy to have found a place that serves the authentic Korean dish with such fantastic flavor!I have not tried other menus because I am trying to be a vegan. But their Bibimbop is one of the best I have ever tasted in the United States. If other Koreans (who grew up in Korea) taste this dish, they will all agree with me. I strongly recommend this place!
Akita Japanese Restaurant
330 W Felicita Ave, Escondido, CA 92025, United States
Sushi was ok, nothing to rave about back at home. The chicken karage could come in regular pieces (ended up getting small morsals, we ordered two orders), the Korean dishes were ok ie. Bulgoki and galbi. The pork tonkatsu was good. Their tempura udon was disappointing because the tempura part only had two shrimp pieces with no dipping sauce (we were told to use the udon soup as the dipping sauce), as opposed to other sushi restaurants who provide a wide array of tempura vegetables, tempura shrimp, and tempura dipping sauce with the udon soup (this by the way is the norm). Spent nearly $200 here. Definitely felt as though the food could have been better in terms of portion sizes and requested sauce could have been met for the tempura dipping sauce.
Son Tra

Ive been wanting to try this place for a long time but I honestly dont think Ill be back.. I went in wanting to try their Banh Xeo. Which is also known as a Korean pancake. So I walk in and place my order and the boy says we dont have it .. first I am very shocked because its really just flour and water with seasonings cooked as a thin pancake to a crisp.. they couldve made it.. it just seemed like they didnt want to.. I could be wrong but that was the impression I got.. So I asked for a second because I am already there so might as well figure something else out on the menu to eat right? I ended up ordering a pork belly banh mi and a Thai tea. The sandwich was good but Ive had good banh mis at Vietnamese restaurants before so it didnt really win me over. The pickled daikon radishes were cut super thick but I guess thats how they do it here. The Thai tea was just okay, a little artificial tasting. Everything was just good not great.
Vintana Wine Dine
1205 Auto Park Way, Escondido, CA 92029, United States
Ive been coming to Vintana for years and some times our visits are great and some meh....12/31/19: I had dinner here because of the casino night. We had dinner reservations but arrived early at 9pm to drink prior to dinner. I called in advance to ask about Casino night and the host who answered the phone said that the Casino night starts at 10pm and will go until everyone leaves. Ok, so thats fine. When I arrived and checked in an hour ahead I asked the hostess to when we will get our chips for the Casino tables. She responded with when the server gives us our check for payment. Ok. No problem right. We sat at our table and we asked the server when we will get our chips and he responded with when we settle the bill. Ok. So we have dinner.Dinner was.... blah. It was a pre fixed menu. They ran out of coconut shrimp. Had the brie and caprese for appetizers, bacon wrapped steak and for dessert which was the worst, cherry chocolate cake, champagne panna cotta and strawberry shortcake. The popovers are always a hit but unfortunately they were served cold.I had real great servers in the past but this time around although he was nice failed to give us our chips for the casino event. When we paid our bill, we asked for our chips as everyone had mention when we asked and his response its done! They are about to announce the winner. It wasnt even 12 Midnight yet too.We were disappointed that the server did not even attempt to give us chips so we could at least run over and play it real quick. ALL INWe didnt to complain because I didnt want to end and start a new year like that so we made our way to the event and danced till midnight.Overall, a disappointing experience
La Sorpresa Barata Asian Market
850 E Valley Pkwy, Escondido, CA 92025, United States
The Asian Market is a wonderful addition to Escondido.Normally, we have to drive down to Kearny Mesa to get our hard to find Asian goods. The Asian Market in Escondido had all kinds of stuff we like to buy. You can find Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese, and Indonesian amongst the foods here. There was also a little restaurant next door to get freshly prepared food.
Side Yard Public House
10326 Meadow Glen Way E, Escondido, CA 92026, United States
I have been here a few times since they opened. I felt they were way above average initially. Today I stopped in for a beer. The one I wanted was out (the beertender only found out after pulling the handle). Did not even offer me what came out and just threw it away in front of me (a decent amount in the glass), not very considerate and not what Im used to experiencing when that happens. I ended up getting a different beer than I wanted originally, and it was kind of just ok. I asked if they have a happy hour (I was there at 2:30 PM) and they dont (honestly they need it with some of their prices). I asked to keep my tab open but I wanted to pay with a different card when the time comes. She said that would be fine but then I noticed my card was charged right then and there on my banks end. I ordered a side of fries and that took a while to come out and when it did the fries were overcooked and not as good as I remembered in the past. If you told me they were frozen store bought fries I would believe it. Thats kind of a red flag to me if you cant make fries right. They also used to have all these awesome hot sauces from Plan 9 Alehouse which is also in Escondido. You could just grab them and try them and add them to whatever you were eating. They had at least 10 different ones. They ran out of those and did not care to restock them, now its just boring ketchup and ranch. Ive seen this place go down hill since it opened and Im not getting the sense that things will improve. Overall this brewery is not worth going out of your way for.
Brigantine Seafood & Oyster Bar
421 W Felicita Ave, Escondido, CA 92025, United States
***Update***After Mr. Limon took the time to reach out and apologize for the initial lack of service and explained the difficulties they have faced over the recent months, I took him up on his request to give them another shot. This time it was only me and my wife, just in case the service was a repeat experience. We also didn't give anyone a heads up we were going to ensure it was an accurate representation of their service. Sooo, how did it go?First off, the food was excellent and I have to recommend the Brussels sprouts and swordfish tacos to anyone who goes with the fondue a very close second to those two. The entrees were also well prepared and delicious. We were happy with the food on our first visit, but extremely delighted on this visit. Now, as for the service. . . It was a night and day comparison to the first visit. Our waitress was very personable and attentive. Our orders were taken promptly, drinks brought out and refilled quickly, and we actually enjoyed some light conversation with her. The service was what one would expect from a restaurant such as the Brigantine. We will definitely be back, especially if they focus on keeping employees like our recent waitress and training those like our first.*** Original Review***Decided to take advantage of a break in the heat and took my in-laws and family out for dinner. We were seated on the patio which was actually rather pleasant. Unfortunately, that was the end of what was pleasant about the experience. Although the food was rather delayed coming out, it was understandable for a Friday night. What wasn't acceptable was never being checked on for refills, completing ignoring our request for refills and condiments once we did see our waitress, and still having to gather everyone's glasses to have the bartender refill our drinks and then carry them back out after getting thru most of our meals with no assistance from our waitress. Luckily, I spotted where the condiments were stored and managed to at least grab what we had requested earlier in order to finish off our meals with something to drink and appropriate condiments. To end the experience off on the same wrong note, we had to finally ask another waiter if we could please get our bill after waiting endlessly for our waitress to check up on us. When we did get the bill there was no apology or effort in the slightest to right the lack of serviceI guess next time we are craving seafood and self service I can always try Rubios, where at least you expect to serve yourself .I will say the swordfish tacos were really good, just not good enough to get rid of the bad taste of the overall experience.
Sushi Nori
1835 S Centre City Pkwy C, Escondido, CA 92025, United States
Very disappointed… we were super stoked to try this restaurant because of the good reviews and the nice lady over the phone when we ordered. We asked for everything to be made vegan if possible and even asked for recommendation. She recommended to also try the veggie ramen bowl which we were very excited about!Once home driving all the way to vista, we sadly discovered that there were meat and egg on top of the noodles…When we called and asked if we could get a refund for just the bowl she didn't believe us and told us to come back if we wanted a refund.I don't understand how you could recommend a dish and can't even make it right, on top of that is to act like we were liars… why would we make all that struggle just for 10$ ?So if you order veggie makes sure to checks your bags before going back home…The rest of the food were good though. I understand sometimes mistake can be made, but it's a bummer her response wasn't very friendly over the phone….
Phatties Vegan Mexican Restaurant
242 W Mission Ave ste d, Escondido, CA 92025, United States
First, I gave three stars, but the location has only been open a few days so consider this review as an initial or incomplete assessment. There is a possibility of the stars going up or down. Lets begin. This is a family owned business. The owners and employees are very friendly and attentive and aim to please. It is the execution and menu pricing that is lacking. The restaurant is nicely decorated, but the seating is among the most uncomfortable I have ever sat upon. Squirming while eating is no fun. There are no plates for the food, plastic or otherwise. You eat from a paper tray box on foil or a round foil take out container with thin plastic utensils. This is okay for a quickly type take out place, but not at these prices. It makes enjoyment of the food difficult. Plates are sorely needed. Now for the food itself. The menu is expensive! A two enchilada combo that comes with frozen battered onion rings and a grilled jalapeno with onions is $9.49. A gordita plater with 2 gorditas and a tiny portion of sour cream and beans and a grilled jalapeno s $13.99. Served in a foil take out container. There are no chips or salsa and no rice. Same goes for a pambazo with frozen onion rings and a jalapeno at $11.99 A pambazo by itself is $9.79. A huarache is $9.29 too. Fries are $3.99 and $5.99. The location sells Aguas Frescas for $3.69 - $4.99. There is no soda fountain. Only soda bottles on ice, orange and cola. Smoothies are $6.49 - $8.00! Now, the food is okay, not the best and not the worst. And the portion sizes are average, but the prices too high. Thus three stars. I wanted this place to be great. it still can be. But with a lot of great nearby competition and the problems I wrote about, they will need to change to survive in my opinion. I wish them well.
