bb.q Chicken Temple City

1) The name of the restaurant doesn’t match what they serve. There is no BBQ chicken like the name of restaurant, but Korean-styled Fried Chicken and Korean Food. It is located next to Starbuck and across Chase bank. I feel it is the hidden corner. People pass by but never notice the restaurant is there. I found this by accident when I was looking for Meet Tea which is located in the same mall.2) There are lots of kinds of sauce you can pick for your fried chicken/ wings/ boneless wings. I picked Gungnum Style which is like spicy garlic sauce. Love it. Not too spicy, but tangy.3) I gave four stars to atmospheres because it is a bit messy in the two working tables. Also, because the restaurant is facing west, so when it is sunset, the sun is towards to the table eve though there are blinds.4) I like the picture of suaces on the wall. It made me mouth watering while waiting for being seated.5) If the Waitress could have a bit smile, it would be nice and feel cheerful as the restaurant vibe is awesome. Nice song and nice atmosphere.6) Price is reasonable.7) Free parking.8) Beer/wine licensedWill go again. It is hidden gem Korean Restaurant in Temple City.
Baekjeong Temple City
5700 Rosemead Blvd #100, Temple City, CA 91780, United States
Another restaurant reopened for outdoor seatings in the Temple city plaza. This Korean BBQ restaurant has been the locals’ favorite Korean restaurant before the pandemic hit. Now that it reopens, many people come to dine here during lunch and dinner.Although the foods are pricy, the meat quality is very good. They claimed all meats are hand cut. I don’t know what that means but I guess it must good. Besides, each meal comes with a tons of small side dishes like kimchi, pickled radish, noodle sheets and more. Seems to be a good deal.Upon the recommendation from the server, we ordered their beef combo which consisted of rib eyes, briskets, and short rib meats. Meats seemed to be good quality but the portions were not that big. The meats did have a lot flavors and tender. For outdoor dining, instead of BBQ the meats yourselves, the server would cook everything inside the restaurant before taking the meats out to the patrons. The menu also features a lot of a la carte items including a lot of favorite Korean dishes. Didn’t have a chance to try them but I heard they are very good as well. The outdoor area is very spacious and airy. Each customer is checked at the entrance for temperature. Everyone is required to wear masks to dine here. During these hot days, parking in the unground parking garage is recommended.

I was invited to this restaurant by Danny, who is a Suzhouese/Shanghaiese who left his hometown almost 70 years. He invited me to this one several times, even after I cooked more than twenty to thirty dishes by myself for him. I always wonder how did he even dare to invite me to a Chinese restaurant which sells Braised Pork in Los Angeles, my Braised Pork was noted as the best Braised Pork in Shanghai, and my recipe was noted as the textbook teaches the generations for cooking Braised Pork.Danny mentioned that the restaurant opens at 11:30 am but we need to go there in advance. I arrived around 11:15 at a rare chili Los Angeles morning, there were already seven, or eight groups waiting outside the restaurant. The restaurant provides 22 specials, every dish costs $10.99 with a free bowl of rice, $10.99 no matter lunch or dinner. I can guarantee more than 95% of customers are coming here only for those specials. The restaurant also has other almost 50 dishes in the average $20 to $25 range, I bet the customers seldomly order them. I had a look at the yelp photos of the restaurant, and most of them are the $10.99 specials. The restaurant is clean, neat, and elegant. Compare with the same price level, you can only go to the dark and less cleaned Kang Kang Food Court or other food courts attached to the Chinese supermarket instead. Here were what we had, in order:Stir Fried Dry Bean Curd and PorkThe slices of the dry bean curd were very thick, the pork slices were just a little. But the whole portion was not small, you still can have the whole bowl of rice only with this dish.Stir Fried A-ChoyA-Choy was stir-fried with garlic and lightly salted. Very standard stir-fry, good.Hunan Style Fried PorkIt was spicy but still acceptable spicy not as spicy as the original one. The pork pieces were thin-cut, the only pity was the pork wasnt that fresh. I could a very light bad smell hint at the pork, but most people wont.Fried Squid in Thee Flavor SauceThis was the best that day. Very good flavored, the squid was tender and tasty with a big amount of ginger, garlic, and Taiwan Basil, which was very authentic. By the way, every squid had full of eggs, thats good. The only drawback was that the bone of the squid was not removed, but I accept it. Even in Taiwan, some small restaurants will keep the bone inside the such small squid.Steam Tilapia with Black Bean SauceI was told that the tilapia was alive/fresh, but I could taste it was not. Most Chinese come to the restaurant, especially for the alive killed fish, they think the live animal kill-to-serve is more delicious than kill-in-advance. I can only give this dish 5 over 10, or less, the scales were not removed at all, and the meat of fish was a muddy taste and muddy smell. But with the price, I had to say the dishes had been definitely worth it. I cant open a restaurant with the such renovation and serve such a low price at the same level, I cannot just do it.
Banana Bay Restaurant 2
5747 Rosemead Blvd, Temple City, CA 91780, United States
Ive had Banana Bay at their Rowland Heights location and always found the food to be just okay. It wasnt until recently, when I was on the prowl for a late night restaurant that was still open, did I become reacquainted with the food at Banana Bay. Wow, have I been missing out! When they were still doing outdoor dining, my friend and I stopped by for a quick late-night meal right before they closed. Food was tasty, service was good, and we were in and out in under thirty minutes.Tried the House Tom Yum noodle soup ($8.99) which came in a pretty large bowl with a ton of ingredients. Besides the fried wonton chip, there was ground pork, peanuts, fish balls, fish cake, etc. with enough rice noodle to feed two people. Flavor of the soup was on point and had a good acidity to it.And of course, had to try their mango sweet sticky rice ($7.99). This is a seasonal dessert, and if youre able to order it while its in season, definitely do because it was super delicious! Im not a big sticky rice fan, but I thought the flavors were good and not too sweet. Pair that with the super ripe and sweet mango and youll have magic in your mouth! After that visit, we came back a few weeks later to order take-out. Had to try the popular Crispy Hainan Chicken rice ($9.49). Wow, I can see why so many people like this dish! The chicken was not only tasty, but super crispy and flavorful. While there were a few parts of the chicken that were a little fat, I was able to easily cut that off and continue eating. If youre a fan of crispy chicken (fried chicken for that matter), youll likely enjoy this dish as well. The sauce that comes with it is the perfect match with the rice and chicken. And its offered as one of the lunch specials on weekdays if you want to pair it with soup and salad.Theyre located in the TJ Maxx plaza - plenty of parking but some days you might have to drive around or park at a further spot. Sauces are available upon request. They get a ton of orders on weekends, so be prepared for a wait.tl;dr - Really enjoyed all of the dishes that we tried here at Banana Bay. Highly recommend the Crispy Hainan Chicken Rice if youre not sure what to order.

Overall, a Pleasant experience. I am from Texas and went for Sunday brunch with my dad who loves this place1. Great value- so they have this 13.99 lunch deal where you get salad (which was pretty good with mixed greens), miso soup, rice, and your choice of picking 2 items from the menu which has a wide range of items: sushi roll, Saba, salmon collar, curry, sashimi, etc. I ordered sashimi and salmon collar while my dad got spicy Tuna sushi roll and saba.-salmon collar is the best. Its a fatty piece of tuna that is rich with crispy skin. Usually this cut is more expensive but you can get it as part of the lunch package. Totally worth the value.-Saba is pretty good if you like that kinda fish. Its a leaner fish but the size is decent. I thought it was good as Ive had Saba at other places which the fish is so much smaller and more poorly done. However, the Saba here is very fresh-sashimi- very fresh. You get 5 pieces of thick cuts-spicy tuna roll- its pretty fresh but I would order something else. You can get spicy tuna roll well done anywhere2. Service- good. Our servers may not have been the super friendly upbeat variety, but they were attentive. Drinks were refilled promptly and trash and dirty plates collected.3. Environment- range from casual to formal. They have 2 huge tvs (playing something on the Chinese channel?) which we know is super classy. However, I think they do formal events as well and there are pockets of areas in the dinning room that are dimmer and quiet. I thought our meal was enjoyable and table well situated.4. Parking- plentiful. The restaurant itself is situated right next to a dollar store.I would definitely recommend for a Sunday luncheon with family or an outing with friends for like a birthday. Pretty satisfied with food quality, price and ambiance.

As a frequent patron, it has become my go-to destination whenever cravings for authentic Cantonese flavors arise. One of the highlights of Phoenix Restaurant is their traditional approach to crafting dishes, exemplified by their exquisite red bean paste soup. It has a very nice Korean restaurant. Came here two days in a roll!
Seafood Palace
9669 E Las Tunas Dr, Temple City, CA 91780, United States
Its been 6 years since I last came to this place. At first, it was rumored that the main chef had it out with the bosses of the place, then after several years of renovations and the pandemic, me and my group never came back. Now that Im here, the food isnt bad. I feel that their batter for the 椒鹽蝦 (Salt & Pepper Shrimp) overpowers the shrimp a bit, but has a nice crisp to it. The 魚香茄子 wasnt bad. Nice glaze on the outside, and the sauce didnt take away from the egg plant itself. The 鹹蛋蒸肉餅 was interesting. Im used to a MUCH more saltier version, which has to balanced out with copious amounts of rice. The flavor here is more tamed. Not bad. Subtle, and thats fine. BUT they did put some sugar in the soy sauce, and that disturbed my friend. I didnt have any issues with it, but you know, to each and of their own, tastes are a subjective matter. Keep in mind, when we were asked if we wanted 1 or 2 bowls of rice, my friend said, They used to give us a deep pan of rice. I had to tell her, lots of places are giving rice by the bowl now. Come on! Plus, its been 6 years since weve been here. Everyones dealing with inflation. The decor looks much more modern than before. Very nice. Still maintains that sort of golden interior, but with more modern art hanging on the walls, the lights, and the ceiling add a nice touch. Plus, with the space they have, theyve added more private rooms for big occasions.PRO-TIP: If youre coming with about 18 people, thats the maximum a big table can fit (normally the max for a big table is 16 to sit comfortably). Any bigger than that, youll have to divide it into 2 tables.
