Julies Noodle

Its a great little noodle shop. The decoration is more American-style, but you can still taste the essence of the noodles. The best thing is that the boss is so considerate. When he saw the white clothes we were wearing, he gave us two bellybands! Fortunately, I was wearing a bellyband and my clothes were not dirty!

Waiter has bad attitude and yells at customersThe so-called hand-rolled noodles are actually machine-made.In a noodle shop, the noodles are not cooked properly and the noodles are served raw.The soup base has a bitter taste from aniseed. The pricing is outrageous. There are only 5 pieces of red oil in hand, and they are still very small, so they dare to sell them for 9 dollars.

Overall: 4.4/5Came here for Sunday lunch right when they opened at noon so we got seated right away for a party of 7. They have QR codes on the table for you to order online if you want but also provided menus in case you want to order with the waitresses. The menu is pretty extensive but since we were a big group, we ordered all different items to share family style. The place started to get crowded by the time we put in our order online and there was a line by the time we left.Roti Canai ($6.95): The roti was flat, flakey, & tasted like a green onion pancake without the green onion. It came with a curry sauce that wasnt too strong since it had a more watery consistency than regular curry. It was good but not worth it. The portion is small too.Golden Tofu ($7.95): The tofu looks pretty normal but the way they fry it kept the tofu soft inside. But the best part of the dish was actually the peanut sauce. It was delicious so you just have to get the tofu coated in it.Crab Fried Rice ($18.95): This fried rice is so good in multiple ways. The first is by itself. The seasoning is light but theres enough taste from the ingredients like the crab and oil that it gives the fried rice just enough flavor. The second way we ate the rice was with the crispy fish and its sauce. The third way was with the duck curry. Both the 2nd and 3rd way give you a depth of umami that just complements the fried rice.Crispy Fish With Sweet Garlic Sauce ($17.95): This is their special dish and a must have! We got two orders for the table since they give huge pieces of fish but small quantity. The fish is really crispy - fried to perfection. The sauce is also amazing. You have to drizzle it on the fish and the fried rice *chefs kissDuck Curry ($16.95): Im really bummed that Thai restaurants dont give rice with curry dishes anymore. We ate this with the crab fried rice instead. The duck was very tender and the curry was packed full of flavors. I didnt think it was salty but my family thought it was a bit. I do think the prices for Thai curry is pretty steep for the small portion size though.Pad Thai With Chicken ($14.95): This is good if you eat it before the crispy fish and duck curry because those dishes are really umami so it will change your palette taste for the pad thai afterwards. The pad Thai is not a specialty here and we had better at other Thai restaurants so you can skip this item.Basil Chicken Entree ($14.95): My brother got this since hes on a strict diet but it was not good. The chicken was kinda bland at the beginning since it hasnt had time to soak up the sauce but after 20 minutes, the chicken was very salty. The bell pepper was a bit undercooked too. Hard pass.

Hong Kong Chef

Came here to eat after spending the morning at my parents house doing random handyman activities. My mother is an excellent cook and when asked where she wanted to eat she chose this place. Given my mother s high standards for food, to me that often says a lot about how good a restaurant might be. Mind you now, this was not my first time here, so this review is based on my second experience with this restaurant. Theres no grand story here, its basically a version of your Hong Kong style restaurant cafes. So the theme is Chinese food but has room to allow for a degree of eclecticism on the menu. Our orders were simple. We had beef chow fun. A couple orders of dim sum. I should note that this is somewhat of a dim sum place, but at least on this day there were no dim sum carts moving around and you simply ordered what you wanted from the menu. Our dim sum orders were the classic pork and shrimp style dumplings, and an order of chicken feet. As far as Chinese restaurants go, this place does not stand out in any particular way. There were not many patrons at the time that we went, which was a Saturday around 12:30 noon. Even then they felt a bit short-staffed. And it took a while for them to get to us and take our order. The demeanor of the staff was flat and not welcoming but also not rude. The first dish that came out was the chao fun, however it took a while. The dim sum to come out. Pacing in this way was not good. The tables do not have any condiments on them so I had to ask for the chili sauce and soy sauce. The amount of chili sauce given was very little and too little for how much. I feel it should be a staple with Chinese food. Regardless, we made it work, although I could have just asked for more, instead I ate it sparingly to conserve what little we were given. Thats a bit on me, but I often see this givingness and availability of condiments, especially the satay and soy sauce to be telling about their experience. Like how others judge an establishment on how prompt they are with providing water. At any rate the food was good, seemed fresh and quality. I have no complaints for the food itself. As for the other items that Ive mentioned, I dont find them to be particularly bad or much different than an average Chinese restaurant experience. With that said, do I recommend this place? Yeah. Why not. If you are like I am and do not need five star table service, and you have a bit of time and can be casual about your meal, you will have no issues here. Give it a try.

Well this is my last time coming here, after an awful experience with the woman who takes the phone orders the time is 2:45 p.m. and its April 18 2022. I placed a small order soup and shrimp pad Thai. I explicitly asked that the food be medium spiced which it was not. The dish was tasteless, tons of noodles no sauce, over cooked shrimp. The dish lacked flavor and depth, clearly rushed. As a chef and business owner of a restaurant I know first hand things happen a person can have an off day and their dish can show it. I simply called to let them know I wasnt happy with the dish and with that what type of accommodation would be allowed. I asked if the pad Thai could be remade as it wasnt anything like I expected, mind you I have ordered food from this restaurant numerous times which my family and I have enjoyed numerous times and quite frankly I was surprised that the dish wasnt good at all on any level. To the woman taking the phone orders and handling complaints you need a refresher course in customer service. Lady when someone is telling you something is wrong with the food that was ordered you dont take offense and tell the customer sorry nothing can be done. Further suggesting that the pad Thai I received was perfectly fine. Unless you ate some of my food before sending it how would you know if it was fine? Never the less you would rather lose a local customer, that has enjoyed your food in the pass over a dish that cost you a few dollars to make. Smdh, you my dear lack professionalism and are bad for business. I am more than certain the owners of this establishment would not be in agreement with your behavior. You are the reason I will never revisit again. Shame on you!

How excitement can turn into abject disappointment in one meal. Went in and ordered the Lamb Curry with Paratha. They served it in plastic ware. I asked for a plate. They refused to give one, stating they don't have one to give.I turned around and saw a family of six eating in bowls. I literally asked “have I done something to offend you?” I was confused as to why they didn't have… plates and bowls?Anyway. I asked to be rung up so I can eat at home. One star gone for poor in-restaurant experience. Now to the food. All could be forgiven if the food was good. It wasn't. I ate a third and threw the rest. The lamb was cooked but inconsistently. Pan tossed at best versus cooked in the actual curry. It seems the gravy was added as an afterthought. The gravy was oily and under flavored, and barely constituted an ounce of the container at best. The potato seemed old and wrinkled and crumbled. The paratha was incredibly oily and doughy and felt like biting into oil, but not in a good way. There was an unnecessary heaviness to it.Lastly, the cucumber salad was insanely spicy, like “run and get some ice cream” level of heat. On a cucumber. The cucumber had more heat than the meat. The boorishly large portions of meat were a chore to eat.I absolutely love Burmese food and every Bay Area Burmese restaurant I've been to has been absolutely top notch, be it a fancy spot or a simple suburban one.But Kyain Kyain was such a let down.

There were a lot of choices, but ended up getting a standard option from the menu - totally forgot what I ordered. However I do remember the how everything tasted. Hope you like spicy too… it was intense but good.I was recommended the herbal tea as well to quench the inferno, which was a great recommendation. This place is a counter inside a food court, so don't expect a fine dining ambiance.Definitely coming back again.

The dim sums are excellent with a lot of choices. They open 7am which is rare for Dim Sum restaurants. I do crave dim sum in the early morning sometimes from my childhood memories. The crispy shrimp noodle roll is a must try and the pan fries shrimp dumplings are awesome. Not very traditional but tastes great. Its not a fancy restaurant, its more like a Mom & Pop shop.

Fabulous gem of a place. My wife and I picked up a ton of olive oil a few years back while we were in Europe and weve been super picky (snobby?) ever since on our olive oils. We have been searching through farmers markets and fancy shops in touristy areas and we generally just fine generic but high quality olive oils that you can find in a Whole Foods or other high end organic grocery store. Okay so thats all just an opening to let you know that this place is a tier above. Its a clear tier above. Its so clearly ahead of anything you can normally obtain that its not even comparable. The olive oils here are so fresh that it makes you start wondering how long all the other olive oils sit around in warehouses and shipping containers and store shelves before its on your table. This place will only import from countries during months when they are actively producing olive oil and this place rotates their stock in order to keep only fresh products in hand. So yeah, its better. As a side note, they have lots of flavored olive oils and vinaigrettes, pastas and biscotti. I have tried one bag of their mini biscotti and Ill be swinging by when Im nearby to get another bag. Theyre very high quality and are now a regular part of my morning coffee routine. So Ill be back here regularly even when were not low on oils.

Always Cool BBQ

I stopped by recently with a friend for dinner and to be quite honest there werent a lot of options in which i wanted to try (if you enjoy chinese street food/style bbq along with internal organs (gizzards/ligaments/hearts) options then this would be a good spot for you) otherwise there were some sparing seafood/noodle dishes along with rice, veggies, side dishes.i personally tried the beef kabobs, abalone w/vermicelli, squid neck, and fish tofu. my friend ordered fried rice with pineapple and crispy fried chicken with egg yolk - to which i tried and didnt really enjoy. but props to the crispy fried chicken with egg yolk you can really taste the salted egg. vs. the fried rice with pineapple - wasnt super flavorful and didnt look too appetizing.id say that the beef kabobs, abalone w/vermicelli, squid neck, and fish tofu were a pretty safe option to order and the flavor was pretty good. i think this is a spot in which id stop by again every now and then but not a spot id go to consistently! if youre in the area id recommend trying it at least once esp if you enjoy eating internal organs!tips:- karaoke bar is right next door- easy ordering through the phone- great for big groups and larger parties- very aesthetically pleasing along with lots of fun decorations around the place- parking lot available
