Pick Up Stix Fresh Asian Flavors
5576 E Santa Ana Canyon Rd, Anaheim, CA 92807, United States
*Update*After giving them a year to sort out their issues I tried to order from their website directly. Once again, second order in a row, they left out an entire item so I once again didnt get to eat with my family.Dont order more than 1 thing if you want to eat dinner the night you order it. I am very disappointed with their customer service skills. I placed my order online and picked it up. Once I got home I found out that I was shorted my beef meal. I called the restaurant and asked to talk to the manager. After 15 min on hold I hung up and called back and was put on hold for 2 more minutes before I could even say 1 word. When I called back again and asked to not be put on hold because I cant listen to the recording after hearing it 750 times and would rather listen to the counter. The phone was passed to Erica who said she wasnt the Manger but was in charge and would ask that they refund me in 3 business days for the beef meal. No offer to deliver the food or even apologized for leaving it out. I understand mistakes can happen but when they add all the mis-steps in this one order experience it shows that either nobody at this location has pride in doing their job well and/or were never properly trained which is a failure of management. Either way this place is currently a huge let down compared to the Placentia location.
Khmer Town Chinese Food & BBQ

Newly opened Chinese restaurant. We got the recommendation from a friend to try the roasted duck. The duck skin was crispy and the meat tasted moist and tender. $30 a roasted duck is a pretty reasonable price. The bbq sauce and the other one with sweet, sour and spicy combination taste are also perfect to dip on.This restaurant serves fast food just like Panda Express so you could try a lot different menus. The space is spacious and clean. The staff were friendly. Overall I recommend it.?Khmer Town Chinese Food & BBQ1569 E. Anaheim Street,Long Beach, CA 90813

Update: We keep coming back ❤️ We've gotten the beef soup several times and it always hits just right. Today I was feeling under the weather and decided to try the chicken curry with a baguette. It was perfectly spiced and comforting, and it felt like something a mom or grandma would bring you when you're sick. It actually cheered me up so much. Thanks PickleWe did dine in and ordered two banh mi (lemongrass beef with egg added, grilled pork/bbq pork), pork belly spring rolls, Thai milk tea and Vietnamese coffee.Service:Our drinks were up immediately, sandwiches were ready in less than five minutes and the spring rolls came just a few minutes later so we barely waited at all.Sandwiches:The banh mi were incredible. The bread was super fresh, no dry or stale bites anywhere. It perfectly absorbed the sauces from the meat, which was so flavorful and warm like it just came out of the pan. The veggies and herbs were cold and crisp. I liked how generous they were with the pickled veg and big sprigs of cilantro. The quality of the meat seemed good, a little fatty but not too much (and that can be a taste preference).Rolls:The pork belly spring rolls were amazing. So glad my friend recommended we try these. One order is three big rolls and a huge side of peanut sauce - you could probably get the rolls as a meal if you wanted. The pork belly was amazing, tender and melty with a crunchy sear on top. They have a few pork belly dishes here that I want to come back and try now. The ratio of pork, noodles, veggies and herbs was just right, and the peanut sauce was a great texture for dipping without being too thick. Probably the best spring rolls I've ever had.Overall:We got two sandwiches, three big spring rolls, two drinks, and added a 20% tip for under $50. We even had enough food to bring leftovers home. The food was phenomenal, and my only complaint for the entire experience was that the Thai tea could've been a little stronger, but that's no big deal.FYI, a guy sitting next to us had the Vietnamese beef stew and said it was his third time coming back for it. He told us it reminded him of his best friend's mom's cooking when he was growing up, except even better. So we'll be back for that too. :)
Strong Water Anaheim

Catfished by a pirate bar.The appetizers are called Underway and we were on our way to a disaster or a meal.I spent the last two years wanting to eat here for my birthday. We tried to go last year but health issues kept us away.I made reservations for the captains quarters (this small four person table is in a corner in the back but is quieter than the front tables). We had a few mixed drinks and champagne. I understand making money off of your mixed drinks (we own a bar), but this is a little ridiculous. There was maybe 8 oz of total liquid in this very large cup with tons of ice. Four big sips and it was gone. My husband had a sample of their in house rum, since they dont carry any brand rums (Captain, Sailors, etc.) It tasted nothing like rum. It almost tasted like a white corn whiskey. No molasses taste, just tons of ethanol tastes.Appetizer : Chicken wontonSuper small portion, very spicey and pretty presentationStir-Fried with steak:Noodles were good but steak was very dry and we didnt eat most of itPan Roasted Hainan Chicken & Rice:This is an airline breast (which means a breast with leg attached) but it looked and tasted like airline food. Looks boiled, no salt, pepper or any seasoning. It was possibly the worst chicken Ive had from a nice restaurant.Loco Moco Burger:Burger was large, fries were goodGrilled Swordfish:Cooked well, no fishy taste, portion was small but out of all of the things we ordered this was the best. Even at that it was not an amazing plate.I feel so disappointed since Ive waited so long to come here and I came here for my birthday. It is very pretty inside even if the pictures on instagram are heavily filtered. The food was just one disappointment after another. I really cant believe how bad it was. I spent so much time reading reviews and looking at pictures online. Someone needs to reexamine the menu. I heard the waiter tell the table next to us they had 30 minutes, I cant imagine spending this kind of money and having a clock ticking. By the time it was over I didnt even care about taking pictures of the inside like I wanted too when planning.

Overall: 4.7/5 (bar reservation)This is such a cool speakeasy hidden inside Anaheim Packing district. I was reading through the Yelp reviews hoping someone put directions on where to find this place - and god bless his soul - Henry C. noted exactly where to find this bar. We were the last reservation so we didnt want to be late. We went downstairs to the sake barrel wall and waited for someone to check us in. We knew we were in the right place since their menu was on the podium by the wall. The lady who checked us in was very nice (Bri - not sure if I spelled that correctly) took us behind the sake barrel door, seated us at the left corner of the bar, and informed the bartender that we were celebrating our anniversary. It took awhile for the bartender to make us our drinks but we took that time to admire the decor. We love their bar set-up and glassware that they use. Their alcohol was very organized, the garnishes were big & fresh, and the bartenders were quite meticulous in everything they do.Our bartender was named Becca who just has a contagious positive energy. I couldnt stop smiling the entire time we were there. She made us a complimentary drink set for our anniversary. It tasted like Yakult which was shocking since it was not on her listed ingredient list.Waves Know Shores ($17): Wow, this was phenomenal! Beautiful mix of tequila blanco, chile vodka, la luna mezcal, supasawa, cane, & saline. Heard the background story of how this came to be and represented water out of the elemental drinks they created. It tasted fresh, clean (filtered), and delicious! We could have just chugged it down like water.Mi Chiquitita ($19): This was one of their more popular drinks with a mix of cacao rum, coconut rum ube syrup, cream of coconut, and lemon. It had a huge pineapple garnish which Becca encouraged us to eat as they make those fresh in-house daily. It was indeed sweet and nice to chew on after the drink. The drink itself was good but doesnt compare to Waves Know Shores. It had a pretty strong nutty flavor and a grainy texture.Becca told us about all the different themes and decor they were planning to do for the upcoming holidays so we definitely need to come back!

Very happy I finally tried them out on a busy late Saturday morning. I still want another spicy curry bun from this place.ITEMS ORDERED:Matcha Sea Salt Cold BrewSpicy Curry PanJapiniMatcha SunriseSpicy MentaikoTASTE:Matcha Sea Salt Cold Brew was actually better than I expected. Glad I was wrong in this case. Ive had been having a few viet coffee/matcha hybrid drinks recently & I initially thought this version wouldnt be as good since cold brew is not as strong as viet coffee. Luckily the cold brew holds up well in this. The cold brew component comes off as a just sweet enough latte while the matcha was saltier than I thought (not a bad thing) with the earthy matcha flavor still being present. Mixed together gives a pleasantly balanced drink that is worth a try.Already knew Id be getting the Spicy Curry Pan & luckily there was literally one left in the display case as I was ordering. So fresh, crisp & flavorful. Very good savory veggie curry with a pleasant heat that grows as you eat it. I wouldve eaten the thing much faster, but didnt want the flavor to end.Japini (Japanese Panini) was a nice little sandwich. I mainly tasted just the cheese & tomato, not so much the bacon, or shisho leaf or pesto. Still good though.Matcha Sunrise did not have the strongest matcha flavor for you die hard matcha fans. Besides that the bread is nice & soft while the cookie crust had a nice sweetness level.Mentaiko had a savory salt flavor which worked well with the really fresh bread. Did not taste any real fish flavor.Seems like they are big on quality of ingredients & they bake fresh daily. I definitely could see that since all the baked goods were very fresh, nothing coming off like it had been sitting there forever.SERVICE, LOCATION & PARKING:I was lucky & the busy line started after I already ordered. Staff were all very nice & did not make me feel rushed which was good. The interior is very warm, welcoming & cute. The mint color tables outside are a nice touch. It looks like the area towards the left when you enter may have once been used for inside seating (precovid). They are located right off W Center Street Promenade, so parking can be a problem. If youre lucky youll find timed parking right on this main street. Its 90 min which is enough time.Quality was there in everything I tried which I imagine is why their baked goods are a little more pricey then Ive seen. But in this instance you are paying for what you get.Id return back here & for sure get the spicy curry pan along with other baked goods.

Thoroughly enjoyed a late 9 pm dinner with a friend. I ordered the pre-fixe tasting menu with wine pairing, and my friend ordered a la carte to suit their taste.PROS:A delightful greeting from the hostess, welcomed me, and even though I arrived slightly early, they accommodated me very shortly upon arrival. Walking into the Napa Roses art deco pastel pink decor and with warm wood tones invoked a fall feeling that I welcomed whole heartily. The server, Cresslyn, one of an army of sommeliers that serve, expertly spoke of the menu, the prefixe menu, and the wines. I chose prefixe menu with wine pairings since I was on vacation. The wide selection of proteins, preparations, and produce pleased my palate. For the first course, I savored the duck confit salad with frisee, and dijon vinaigrette with a white wine from Lebenon. The sweetness of the wine paired with the mustard and fatty duck did an excellent job cutting through the sharp and fatty flavors. The second course brought a wild boar cassoulet with green garbanzos. The Washington red paired with this was dry and slapped my tongue into submission on its own, but paired with the boar it stopped being a bore on my papillae. A homemade lemon sorbet with flowers and olive expertly cleansed the harsh Washington red. The third course introduced me to my first Chicken Gallantine with seasonally fresh squash. Crunchy outside and juicy inside the Gallantine balanced perfectly with a French Burgundy. On its own, the Burgandy smoothly melanged with my taste buds. Finally, the fourth course conjured a perfect pumpkin pie with layers of hazelnut crunch underneath the silky pumpkin filling. The pastry chef placed a garden pumpkin essense cubes on top, ready to be harvested, and consumed. The Sicilian inspired dessert wine did not accompany the pie as well as I would have hoped. Coffee might have been a better option.Napa Rose created some expertly appointed dishes for me in their prefixe menu, and my friends a la carte meal pleased, as well. They expertly cooked the Divers scallop, and crisped the gnocchi better than any other Italian restaurant that I have tasted. Each potato pouch felt exquisite to consume. The rabbit and dumplings tasted like the holiday dish that I wished I always had at Grammys house, but never knew existed.Napa Rose always impresses. The server from Transylvania, Nico, told us stories about the old country and how they never lost their religion to the Turks, but instead appeased them with paying exorbitant taxes. Cresslyn was a gem, I even mistook her to Cinderella. She even created some Disney magic at our table!CONS:One of the servers that brought us our food was not at the same level as the others, and was a bit crass in their service. I think that they could have tried a bit harder on the dessert wine selection to pair it better with the pumpkin pie extraordinaire.I asked why they did not have a Michelin Star, as I have been to many other one star restaurants. They are just that good. You will enjoy a beautifully thought out menu, wonderfully executed food, expertly served dishes and drinks, from an staff that carefully cultivates their love of dining. ⚜️?⚜️

We knew we had to have the sourdough bread bowls from here for a meal. I highly recommend using mobile order for this place and just going directly to pick up your order instead of standing in line. They only have 3 options for the bread bowl. We got the macaroni and cheese, and the curry beef, which is Japanese curry if you are familiar with that. It is a very specific flavor that you have to like, but if you do then it is very good. The mac and cheese was good but was giving velveta cheese vibes. The bowl itself is mostly hollowed out so the top that they cut off will give you the most bread, and then you can scrape some from insidfe your bowl but not much. Since the bowl is hollowed out you can't really eat the bowl with much success, since it is hard and crispy on the outside and hard to tear off. We also got the Shrimp Katsu sandwich which was adequate but just okay. The garlic chips that come with it have a Funyuns texture which is interesting. They have other Asian inspired things you can order here as well as sourdough bread, which they are famous for. There is a large combined outdoor seating area in the middle of all of the food places here. Many of the seating area was taken up and was busy, so you do have to scout out a table if you are there during any type of mealtime. We also mobile ordered some beers from the cervezeria right there as well for some drinks. Overall, we love having the bread bowls and will probably be back on our next trip for more.

- FIRST IMPRESSIONS -Okay, seriously, it looked a little... run-down despite the all black exterior but once you step inside it's completely different. The restaurant is very clean and is well-lit. It has great air conditioning and looks very modern. You are immediately greeted by the cashiers at the counter and from there you will order and they will deliver your food to the table when it's ready. I highly recommend getting the paper menu and taking a seat so you have enough time to order your food without feeling so rushed or pressured. The express part of their name does allude to the fact that many people do take their food to-go and/or get it delivered by a mobile app (Grubhub or Doordash, can't remember which one exactly.)One thing I do like is that there is a little water station by the entrance that serves some sweet or salty chips. I don't actually know what it is, but it's a cute little snack you can munch on while waiting for your food. They do have complimentary mung bean soup that you can have as well but I was not in the mood to try it.- FOOD -BRAISED BEEF NOODLE SOUP ($9.50) — good enough for one person if that's the only thing they're eating and definitely enough to feed a party of four if they just want a small serving for each. The beef is much smaller than I expected but was still incredibly tender and melted in my mouth, so I loved that. The broth was just as oily and flavorful as I wanted it to be without seeming too salty. There's a bit of a kick to it but not enough to make you want to reach for your cup of water. The noodles were medium firmness but a little filling.CHICKEN DUMPLINGS ($7.50, 8pcs) — Whoa, I was definitely not expecting something to be so incredibly packed with meat. But it was! The only thing I didn't like was that it was just chicken in there. I was hoping for a little more flavor but my boyfriend liked it. I did not know the name of the sauce it came with but when I did try it, it was some sort of chili oil with a paste and it was not to my liking. I preferred the soy sauce and vinegar concoction that I used with my xlb.PORK XIAO LONG BAO ($7.50, 8 pcs) — Now this is what I came for and I left incredibly impressed. It is hard for me to say that there are competitors with xlb comparable to Din Tai Fung, but damn it was that good. The xlb was way bigger with more meat and a LOT more soup. I was so happy to bite into each one and see that there was just so much broth to suck out. Oh, and if you do not know the soy sauce and vinegar concoction, make sure it's 1 part soy sauce and 3 parts vinegar with your ginger. You won't regret it!— DRINKS —I am told that their house fruit tea with cheese foam is a fan favorite, but I wasn't feeling anything other than a standard milk tea. So that's what I ordered! For $4.25, there is only one size for the tea and it already came with boba. It was incredibly sweet and I regret asking if I could modify the sweetness but I did love it overall. I just didn't have enough space left in my stomach to finish it!My boyfriend opted for a cup of coffee for $2.50 in the large size. It is only brewed hot and you will need to mix in your creamer and sugar at the condiment station. He liked it, but don't expect a coffee latte or anything.- FINAL THOUGHTS -Would I consider coming back here? Yes, but I wouldn't go out of my way to do so. The pork xlb was certainly amazing and there are still a few other items I'd like to order off of their menu. One of the reasons why I decided to dock a star from their rating was their heavy use of styrofoam and disposable items like paper bowls and utensils. I know that it's more of an express restaurant, but it isn't very eco friendly. Other than that, the service was nice and I liked my first experience here.
Le Kitchen Pho and Rice

Bad service and food isnt all that good. Waiter takes there time. Walks off during ordering several times. Does not get drinks unless you ask. Utensil bins always empty. Orders forgotten. We had a group sitting and everyone got their plate except for one person. Waiter doesnt come back to check. After everyone gets close to finishing, we ask where the last order was. Appearanlty, they never made it. Waiters do not check, owners laugh it off and place is empty. Should have known that if no one is inside, that means its probably a bad place to begin with. The pho place down by the lights was way better with great service. Plus, reviews for every other place around there have way more ratings. And for good reasons. Never going back...
